Wonderful all went okay @Whataretheodds

Hope consultant can reassure you @Redpanda21

Names are all lovely! Definitely advise not sharing them unless you're prepared for people to say this dislike your chosen name. Everyone in our family hated DS2's name but they all came round to it.

Our chosen names are Arnold with nickname Arnie or, for a girl, Clara.

Whataretheodds · 21/09/2023 08:33

Thanks @Kalodin

Love hearing all the names you've picked - what a wonderful variety!

How are you all finding movements? I'm not sure I've actually felt anything yet. Midwife said it's like little bubbles. I've felt bigger bubbles and twinges but nothing that delicate. So curious!

Kalodin · 21/09/2023 08:51

The bubbles I felt at around 14 weeks, since 20 weeks they're feeling like big movements, can feel and see them from the outside. DH loves feeling my belly at bedtime as that's when baby always starts wriggling

suz2285 · 21/09/2023 09:19

@Whataretheodds the little bubbles usually start early so bigger movements probably correct about now! Depending on your placenta

I'm glad we're all having the same issues with names, DH is so bad for "such and such's dog is called that, or I went to school with a boy whos brother was called that and he wasn't nice etc" like we've never met these people! Anyway, we're getting there.... I've also told him not to discuss with anyone as i don't want other people's opinions clouding his judgement on the few names that we do like!

His preference was Alfie to start with, nothing against that name but every second kid around here is called Alfie just now so I would prefer something more unique, and like you guys with some sort of family connection as a middle name probably! Personally i love the old school family names but DH not keen and still laughs at the thought that i like Wilfred as a name! 😂

RG9895 · 21/09/2023 09:43

Love hearing all about names!

Im just over 24 weeks, felt bubbles maybe from 16 weeks but could never tell if it was baby or gas tbh 😂 felt first kicks at 19 weeks and last few weeks have been able to see on the outside and feel them! I also have an anterior placenta ☺️

OP posts:
Luhou · 21/09/2023 09:43

@suz2285 Wilfred was my pick! Think it's so cute. Also liked Stanley.

We had Olive picked out for a girl if that helps anyone!

Luhou · 21/09/2023 09:45

23 weeks today and feeling lots more movement in regular patterns in the last few weeks. Had me awake at 4.30am having a dance party. I really expected to feel less movement this time due to placenta being at the front, but I had reduced movement with my first, so this feels like loads!

Whataretheodds · 21/09/2023 09:49

So maybe the bigger sensations are right? I'm only 21w, anterior placenta. The sonographer told me baby is about the size of a banana so I'm trying to picture what it would feel like to be jabbed by a banana from the inside.

My partner's sister asked about names and he's happy sharing with her. I like her but I feel like I don't want to share all my name thinking with her! Baby will already have either double-barrelled surname or partner's name as last middle name, plus we have 2 languages to contend with. I'm expecting names to be tricky as we've not found out the sex.

Whataretheodds · 21/09/2023 09:49

So frustrating when names you've liked for ages seem to have become super popular!

Whataretheodds · 21/09/2023 09:51

@Vikki7 I love the name Cora but maybe your unborn son wouldn't appreciate it.

I know a guy called Corde which I've not heard on anyone else.

Whataretheodds · 21/09/2023 09:54

@EL27 are you in Wales? So many Welsh boys names have been anglicised (like Morgan). I like Aled and Owen. A friend has just gone for a Welsh spelling of a popular boy's name that's more common in English.

TunnocksTCake · 21/09/2023 10:35

@Mushroo my daughter's name is on your list, as is the name we would have picked if this one had been a girl!

We have a middle name picked out - William - which is a family middle name on DHs side and my maiden name was Williams so I like that connection too.
I love Reuben but DH is undecided, hoping I can sway him though!! Others we like are Dylan, Asher, Jackson and Elliott but I just cant make up my mind! I never actually loved DDs name it was just the one that felt most right when we met her. Definitely not telling anyone, Im so easily swayed if I saw a negative facial expression I would have to change it!! I am finding it harder with the additional criteria of having to 'go' with my DD's name. Not after matchy matchy but think they need to flow together a bit.

I have been having really strong movements (24+5) and even saw it from the outside last night. Not sure I have a proper pattern but definitely feel him multiple times a day.

Feeling really uncomfortable now and struggling when Im on my feet but got my support belt which is helping a bit.

suz2285 · 21/09/2023 10:36

@Whataretheodds jabbed by a banana made me smile. My first feelings of movements were more like little tumbles, almost like a little tummy flip/somersault feeling! With the anterior its common to not feel as much, i'd say you're definitely feeling something, it should continue to get stronger.

Is everyone noticing patterns? I know they say not to count the movements now but I don't think We have a pattern as such yet, sometimes I can feel him constantly and then other times he's quiet for a few hours, some days more movement than others still - but I can also feel him moving around, some kicks are high up, some lower down, some feel more to the back.... so there must still be plenty space for him to be moving around!

@Luhou I still like Wilfred but no chance it's happening over here! it's another that seems to be coming back a bit - I like a lot of the traditional names, DH prefers something more modern so it'll just have to be a compromise!

Sounds like everyone has some ideas for lovely names! 😍

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 21/09/2023 10:44

@suz2285 that's interesting re anterior placenta and a flip movement. I've had feelings like a fish swimming, and also a twitching this time with anterior placenta. Very different to my posterior placenta last time and the definite kicks.

Sounds like people are making some real progress with lovely names! We are still stuck over here and don't seem to agree on any at all

Onedayatatime24 · 21/09/2023 10:53

@suz2285 still not feeling patterns here! I thought we were getting into one but he seems to have changed his mind. I rang the midwife about it yesterday and they said as long as you're feeling some movements, they're not concerned with patterns until after 26 weeks. Looking forward to feeling things more regularly/at the same times though, would be nice to feel like i know things are okay in there for once!

buckingmad · 21/09/2023 11:32

Anyone else really suffering with their calves filling up? Mine are definitely worse on my work days where I'm stuck at a desk.

Trying to make a point of standing up and walking around every hour and going for a walk at lunch but not really helping. I don't remember this happening with my first but then it was lockdown so I was at home plus walking the dog on my break.

WitcheryDivine · 21/09/2023 11:54

"I'm trying to picture what it would feel like to be jabbed by a banana from the inside."

Hahaha well that's quite an image! I found the earliest movements so hard to know whether they were there or not - in a way it was like a tummy rumble but not where my tummy is. Or perhaps like a tiny creature walking across me.

Mine still seems to be alternating an active day and a quieter one, and weirdly has started "getting up early" i.e. deciding to have a big shuffle around at 6am and sometimes around 8am - I didn't used to feel anything in the morning.

Love the names!! Esp Robin and Rosie! @TunnocksTCake Reuben is gorgeous as is Elliott.

Ours will be double-barrelled too which is a bit limiting as you don't want a great big name with that.

sashastuck · 21/09/2023 12:22

Gutted I missed the name chat!! I love all of the names you guys have chosen and suggested. Particularly love your list @Mummyme87 and Annabelle 🥰 so cute. I have a friend who’s just had a Wilfred.

Our son is called Koa. It’s a name I came across before I fell pregnant and DP loves it too, I’ve told close family and friends and most love it, my grandparents are a bit confused 😂 I love the name Noah but it’s become so common now, Koa is almost the same but it’s a Hawaiian name so different spelling. Think we’re going to use DP’s name as his middle name to save arguments about which family member to use 😂

Lightningrain · 21/09/2023 12:34

Loving all of the names! We’ve had some brief discussions and made a bit of a list but haven’t narrowed it down much.

We’re having a surprise so have a list of girl and boy names but even that was hard work as DP seemed to know someone with every name I suggested (even going back to his school friends!) and didn’t want to use them. I don’t think we’ll be using a family name as a middle name as there aren’t any grandparent names that aren’t still considered very old fashioned, and I’m sure MIL would take offence if we used one from my side of the family and not hers. Both of my grandmas disliked their own names too so wouldn’t have liked to think I’d pass them on to another generation. Easier just to choose another name we like I think for a middle name!

suz2285 · 21/09/2023 13:42

@Onedayatatime24 that's good to know! Some days I have constant movement and others not, but it's def not a pattern yet! I reckon cos there's still space for them to move around!

@buckingmad I've had some swollen legs/ankles after either sitting or standing too long! And in the heat it was worse! Also getting some cramping in my calves as well on and off

@Lightningrain that sounds exactly like my DH, old school pals who he's not seen in like 25+ years! I can barely remember my school pals names tbh!

I've got what I assume is round ligament pain, it's ok mainly but when I walk it's constant pulling, I got a belt thing but it doesn't take it away totally, not sure whether I should push though and continue to walk or what?! Anyone any idea?! It only really started badly after last weekend when I walked about 6 miles and it was bad the last 1.5 ish miles, usually I only walk 2-3 miles at a time and it was ok, but now even a 10-15 min walk I'm getting the pains almost instantly 🙈

Ah great minds!! We were really struggling with boy names tbh so glad we’re having a girl.

Reuben is lovely! Hopefully you can talk DH round

PartRadish · 21/09/2023 14:00

All three of our boys names have been mentioned now 😊 Totally outing but we have Reuben Ianto, Rowan Ezra and Arlo River.

Not sure what we'd have named a fourth boy, that said I found choosing a girls so much harder than naming a boy!

LuneDArgent · 21/09/2023 14:01

I love all the ideas of names 😊
People keep asking us if we have a name, but we haven't even really discussed it yet 😂 we will soon I think, but we don't feel in a rush (maybe we should 😅).

@suz2285 I also get some pain when I walk, like pulling. Where is it located? For me it's really low, like pelvic area. But I don't have any advice sorry, it's new for me... Do you think that the belt is helping a little bit then? I'm wondering if I should get one.
My belly has suddenly become huge the last couple of weeks (some people asked me in the street if I was due soon 😅) and I'm starting to find doing a lot of things very difficult...

suz2285 · 21/09/2023 14:05

@LuneDArgent mine is really low down like the hip area, almost like hip flexor pain but slightly higher up, same feeling though like a really inflexible rubber band being pulled every step 🙈😂

The band helped a little yes but it didn't remove the full pain, I wouldn't say it's painful it's very uncomfortable though and feels 'wrong' even though it seems to be nothing to worry about!

My belly isn't even that big yet I don't think! I mean it is but i could still pass for fat rather than pregnant given the right clothes and no one I've told believes me that I'm over halfway! Though I feel massive!

LuneDArgent · 21/09/2023 14:15

@suz2285 yes, same, I wouldn't say it's painful, but it's uncomfortable. It disappears as soon as I sit, and starts again when I walk!

I'm the opposite for the belly: people can't believe when I tell them I'm only 5.5 months pregnant, they think I must be 7 months or more, or asking if I'm sure there is only one baby 😂 I have no way of hiding it!
