@TunnocksTCake I think the default is they don't want to prescribe anything! It's a nightmare trying to get anything during pregnancy! Ps my normal bedtime is like 8.30 not that I always fall asleep then but yeah 😂

I'm also swollen, not tooo badly yet but I've got my compression socks on for the office today cos sitting on my desk chair makes my legs swell and my back hurt! My rings are on the right side so I'm wearing other slightly bigger ones!

I'm having some upper stomach discomfort too, again it's worse when at my desk, prob as my baby is pushing up my stomach! If I'm chilling at home it's less 'pushed up' 🙈😂 so yeah overall not enjoying being in the office!!

Mummyme87 · 10/10/2023 11:03

@TunnocksTCake pharmacies often won’t give certain things to pregnant women without a prescription. Usually the stuff that says ‘not suitable in pregnancy’ but evidence says it’s safe, canesten pessaries, worm tablets are an example

Lightningrain · 10/10/2023 11:07

@Luhou I’ve felt really tired for the entire pregnancy but seem to have been a bit better from about week 23 onwards. Prior to that I would fall asleep on my lunch break most days.

I had an off day when I had my flu and COVID jabs where I went to bed at 8pm but generally I’ve felt a bit better recently. I thought maybe my body is finally getting used to running on 5-6 hours’ sleep (broken sleep as well since I’ve been up so often for a wee!)

Hopefully the lack of sleep with a newborn will be easy after the pregnancy tiredness!

Lightningrain · 10/10/2023 11:12

@MrsJ6921 You sound like you’ve been really organised! I’m looking forward to getting to that point as I’m sure it does make it seem more real.

I have been buying bits as I’ve seen sales/offers but I’m at the point where I’ve forgotten what I have now and I just want to get it all sorted. Our nursery furniture arrives next week so I’ll be on a mission next weekend to get everything organised and make a list of what we still need to get. I’m hoping there might be some Black Friday deals to get the last things that we need.

Mummyme87 · 10/10/2023 11:31

I have very swollen feet and ankles but I’m in a 28-30degree climate which isn’t normal for me! Home tomorrow evening and looking forward to some normality. Bloody exhausted

buckingmad · 10/10/2023 11:53

God I can’t get enough of buttery tiger bread at the moment. I’d eat a loaf a day if I could.

Dannic2018 · 10/10/2023 11:57

@Luhou I have my 28 week appointment for bloods next week and I’m thinking I might be borderline because I am so tired again and no matter how much sleep I have. Just feeling a bit run down, coldsores etc
I think it was at this point with my other children I went onto iron tablets even though I’m taking pre natal vitamins still

Luhou · 10/10/2023 12:42

@Dannic2018 yeah, I am going to wait until my next appointment in a few weeks and see. Unless it gets really bad. Good to know othere are struggling too.

@buckingmad that sounds amazing. I'm starving. Got awkward meetings today, don't know when I'll get some lunch.

Now you're talking!

@Mummyme87 if you're on holiday hope you've managed to enjoy it!

Has anyone got ANYTHING they would recommend for lower back/hip stiffness and pain?? I tried a bunch of online workouts and they were universally crap!

Onedayatatime24 · 10/10/2023 12:54

I'm also feeling super tired all of the time, mentally and physically now, but I never really gained much energy back. I don't remember the last time I slept through the night either, currently waking at least 4-5 times, going to the toilet or rolling over (which is becoming a mission!) so putting most of my tiredness down to that. Hip/pelvic pain hasn't been great and seems to be worse in bed for some reason so that's keeping me up.

Onedayatatime24 · 10/10/2023 12:56

@WitcheryDivine I've found swimming helps with some of the hip stiffness/pain. Thinking I might get some kind of support belt soon as well as already in pain and got 3 months of growing left!

Mushroo · 10/10/2023 12:57

@WitcheryDivine my pregnancy ball really helps, it’s like instant relief. I sit on it during the day (I wfh) and watching tv if my back is hurting.

Bims2019 · 10/10/2023 13:13

Thanks for the strapless bra recommendations @sashastuck and @Matildahoney, I've got a stick on one so going to give that a go if it still fits!

@Luhou ohhh yes the tiredness is real! I'm 28 weeks today and have been feeling really tired for the last month or so. Mentioned it at my last midwife appointment, she suggested eating more iron rich food and said I'll have blood test at my 28 week appt tomorrow. Maybe worth mentioning to your midwife in case they recommend something?

@Onedayatatime24 I'm the same as you, never really got my energy back and I haven't slept through the night in months! Last night I was up 3 times for a wee 🤷🏼‍♀️ all good practice I suppose

Matildahoney · 10/10/2023 13:41

Has anyone got any recommendations for changing bags or baby monitors?

sashastuck · 10/10/2023 13:59

I can’t keep up!

@Hummusanddipdip lovely photo and same for you @Vikki7 , glad your scan went well. Hope those of you that have been having your GT tests found it to be okay. My friend had it recently and said the drink wasn’t too bad!

I’m not swollen yet but definitely feeling heavier, more tired and lethargic. I’ve taken on 2 tutees because I want to take it into my mat leave for a bit if extra cash but boy I CBA!!

@Mushroo ooh that’s prompted me to order a pregnancy ball (is that the same as a birthing ball?) - didn’t realise it could be used so soon! Sounds like it really helps x

Yeh it’s the same :). I was sceptical but I love mine! There’s some good YouTube videos on prepping for birth as well, but tbh I mainly use it as a comfy place to sit 😂

WitcheryDivine · 10/10/2023 14:33

Oh I don't really know what a pregnancy ball is for! How does it help?

Will definitely try to go swimming too, that's a great idea thank you x

Mushroo · 10/10/2023 15:03

@WitcheryDivine it seems to just let your hips move about a bit more compared to a chair or sofa.

This is probably a stupid question, but for the next to me cribs, do you need sheets? None of the cribs are the same size so how do you find them? Or is it just blankets and sleeping bags directly on the mattress?

MrsJ6921 · 10/10/2023 16:02

@Mushroo I bought the sheets for our next to me from the website where I bought it from. However, I’ve also read that Amazon do sell them too if you know the measurements

Mushroo · 10/10/2023 16:09

@MrsJ6921 thanks I’ll take a look!

Lilothblos · 10/10/2023 16:20

Has anyone got any good baby deals in the Amazon Prime day sale today? I’ve ordered a Dreamegg white noise machine and a Braun ear thermometer but on the lookout for any other deals!

Luhou · 10/10/2023 21:39

@Lilothblos also orderd the thermometer. Couldn't really see much else.

Redpanda21 · 10/10/2023 22:32

I’m ordering the haakaa, haakaa ladybug, reusable breast pads and breast feeding bras

Onedayatatime24 · 11/10/2023 05:22

Hi all, not directly baby related but after some advice and wondering if anyone has been through similar...

My work decided to employ somebody full time to cover me (rather than doing mat cover) which makes sense as we needed an extra pair of hand eventually anyway. They've really struggled to find someone with the same skills/experience that I have for the wage they want to pay. They've just employed someone on a slightly higher wage who has 3-4 years less experience than me. Simply because that's what the market is demanding atm for this kind of role and experience.

So this shows to me that I'm being slightly underpaid for my role/experience that I bring. I do get an okay wage but clearly the market is more competitive now. I've been here a couple of years and am happy so haven't looked at wages for my role in a while!

Do you think it's fair if I ask for a pay rise? I would if I wasn't pregnant but feels cheeky asking knowing I will be off for a year. However the fact I'll have to teach the new person my skills and get paid less than them just doesn't sit right with me. It's a small business, doing fine but not super thriving financially which I am aware of. And I do enjoy working there but also I go to work to pay my bills at the end of the day! Has anyone experienced similar or has any advice?

sashastuck · 11/10/2023 06:27

@Lilothblos there’s a good deal on the Tommee Tippee Groegg if you’re interested. I got a few babygros with zips and the haakaa pump!
