yes the movements change to rolling around, sticking bum/head out, and the odd jab.
im not sure about a pattern yet, seems erratic or I get distracted and don’t feel it.

@suz2285 36wk scan is gold standard but most trusts can’t afford to do it so next best thing is fundal height

Hummusanddipdip · 01/10/2023 20:50

I don't think I've actually felt kicks at all with this one, more like rumbles in different parts of my stomach like gas...

@suz2285 hopefully it's just a reassurance thing? When midwife measured bump ds always measured around 45-60th percentile, but was 4th at birth.

I got my gap scans through last week and need to call to move 2 of them, one of them is back to back with my consultant, anyone know how flexible they'll be with moving them? I'm actually on a school trip that day, so have no way of getting to the hospital...

I'd go see a chiropractor @Mummyme87 just to get a bit of relief.

Thanks for all the carrier chat, has really helped me with thoughts and decisions.

It's my birthday Thursday and I've asked for a hoodie with a kangaroo pouch that has a hood for baby, looks very cosy. I was looking at parka's, I really like the seraphine one, but can't justify that sort of money... even on vinted the resale price is quite high. I've got a couple of xl mens rainmacs that I had for the winter with ds (he was 5 months) so hopefully I can put one of those on for wet weather and the hoodie will do for warmth?

Dog isn't interested in me, he was very snuggly when I was pregnant with ds, but over 4 years later, experiencing a loud toddler, being 17 years old, blind, pretty much deaf among other ailments, I don't think he forgives me for ds still. Although, up until ds starting to move alone, he was happy to snuggle on the sofa with all of us, now he'd rather be in his bed in the corner snoring.

FirstT1meMum · 01/10/2023 20:57

@suz2285 glad all seems well! Hopefully the scan is just an extra careful step. These babies love to cause us sll sorts of worries!

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 02/10/2023 06:40

@Luhou ha no my dog is pretty normal with me. But he loved my son when he was born, and still sleeps in his room near the cot. Was a bit sad as he'd always slept in with me!

@Mummyme87 that sounds really awful, and hope you can see someone and get some relief from it soon.

Can any more experienced parents tell me, at what point did you transfer a toddler out of a cot bed? My little boy will be almost two. The cot bed can keep expanding til age ten. However wondering whether to buy a new cot bed for baby or buy a bed for my toddlers room and it a cot guard on it?

Mummyme87 · 02/10/2023 07:15

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 DS1 we moved from the cot bed to toddler bed at 2.5yrs and DS2 we went from cosleeping to toddler bed at about 18months.

so my itchy palms i mentioned ages ago, never got it looked at in the end as it settled. Well, the last 24/48hrs it’s picked right up again. I’m going to go have bloods done today. Definitely

Dannic2018 · 02/10/2023 08:02

@suz2285 pleased everything is ok with baba.
When I went in for reduced movements with my ds and was on the monitor I’d have big movements on the monitor or when the midwife was examining me but I couldn’t feel them, had anterior then too so it could just be that.

@Mummyme87 I feel like you definitely should go and see one. My hubby has always wanted me to as I’ve got a buggered body and it’s only getting worse, it’s just the cost and I’m always tight with myself.

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 we moved our
co sleeping toddler at 18months with a bed guard up then just after 2 he’s now in a floor bed house bed and loves that more.

we are having to get a space saver cot for little miss as she won’t have her own room so the little area which she’s going to have in our room isn’t wide enough for a cot bed sadly as I loved our mamas and papas one

lucya66 · 02/10/2023 08:04

Morning! Following the sling chat as I need to buy one.

I’ve had some constipation over weeeknd and just felt my first pile/haemorrhoid. Not nice! It doesn’t hurt but I just want it to go back in.

also just tested positive for covid. I feel fine but was coughing a lot last week so maybe I’m on the end of it. Anyone know if there’s any need to tell midwife about this?

suz2285 · 02/10/2023 08:06

@Dannic2018 yeah it just depends on placenta as well right! I'm back to having big kicks this morning and he's clearly back at the front as bump is harder again!

We're also getting a space saver cot as little one will be in our room, bedside crib for 6 months or so then a small cot until we hopefully move 🤞🤞

Dannic2018 · 02/10/2023 09:46

@suz2285 which one did you go for ? Only one I could find that would fit in the gap was a Obaby one. Yeah Tutti Bambino crib next to our bed then into the the little dressing area off our bedroom from 6 months. We have a 4 bed but due to ages of my older two and my sons room isn’t massive she won’t have a room until someone moves out 🤣🤣🤣

suz2285 · 02/10/2023 09:56

@Dannic2018 haven't got it yet but the obaby is one I definitely looked at! I am not planning to buy until it's needed as to maximise space for the first 6 months 😂

Redpanda21 · 02/10/2023 10:15

My 19 month old is still in a space saver cot.

I won’t move him to a big bed until baby is ready to move into that cot as my 19 month old will be into everything during the night and we are on a different floor to him

Mummyme87 · 02/10/2023 10:54

We won’t have a cot set up at all due to space. Have a spare room but it’s got a sofa bed in and already small. It’s handy to use that bed if one of the kids kicks off in the night, or if DH needed to go elsewhere to sleep so don’t want to fill the room up then not be able to pull the bed out.
so will be cosleeper until we hopefully move house next year. The tutti bambini one is fairly sizeable, much bigger than the snuzpod

Luhou · 02/10/2023 11:40

I'd personally reccomend a crib for in your bedroom that rocks. We bought tuttu bambini and as much as I liked it, a rocking one would of been a great help.

My pelvis literally feels like it's on fire today. Really sturggljng at work. Anybody had any reasonable adjustments made for them at work? I want to wfh but not really something my company does. My role could be fully done from home

Mummyme87 · 02/10/2023 11:52

@Luhou no adjustments at all for me, manager knows I’m struggling. No risk assessment at all and only comment from her was, hope you’re not going to go off sick

Luhou · 02/10/2023 11:59

@Mummyme87 That is shocking. I was made redundant last time I was pregnant, it's so poor how workplaces can't be more understanding. The fact is, if this pain doesn't go in the next hour or so I'll just end up goint home anyway and not WFH.

TunnocksTCake · 02/10/2023 11:59

Hi All, busy weekend with DD's third birthday & party and now shes got a rotten cold & mouth ulcers bless her! 2 nights up and down to soothe her/ medicate her I'm knackered. DH has been doing a lot of the night time stuff too bless him as I'm such a heavy sleeper now (usually v light)!

I'm 26 weeks and also suffering with hip pain/ back pain/ pelvic floor issues/ Piles. Oh the joys. Feel like my legs are going to fall out of their sockets if I walk any distance at all. I do have a belt which helps when walking but have forgotten to put it on much recently. Was in agony after the party on Saturday, too much standing.
@lucya66 fully recommend germaloids suppositories and cream for piles, you can physically push them back in too (grim) which really helps relieve the pain.
@Luhou I havent had a response from my boss yet (in writing) to my email telling her my dates and no risk assessment or adjustments. I could also easily wfh but she wont have it. My office is up 3 flights of stairs and toilet is another floor up so not ideal at all. I am worse when walking and my job is desk based though so happy enough at the moment.

MrsJ6921 · 02/10/2023 12:34

@Luhou my shift pattern and working hours have been reduced but I am a Police Officer so naturally my job is a little more complex and the naturally I work with risk so I’m on restricted duties. Luckily I am CID based without divulging too much so I feel quite protected. And the force would get in serious trouble if we didn’t have risk assessments etc.

Are you able to talk to a HR advisor or a Union Rep? (Apologies I don’t know what sector you work in)

Luhou · 02/10/2023 12:38

@TunnocksTCake sorry you're having a shit time. Is there anyway they can re-locate you to the floor with a toilet.

@MrsJ6921 pleased work are taking care of you, but obviously due to the nature of the work it's absolutely necessary.

I work in marketing, so nothing particularly risk and something I can do from home. No HR advisor or union unfortunately. I think I may have a personal word with my manager later and just see if they can do anything more as I'm really struggling with pelvic pain. I'm currently sat leaning forward on my desk and suprise suprise. Getting no work done!

TunnocksTCake · 02/10/2023 13:07

@Luhou I work for a tiny company - literally me and my boss actually in the office with various subcontractors so we just rent an office in a building and the ones upstairs belong to someone else. Definitely need to think about moving to a larger company when DS here, have come to blows over time off for DD sickness before and just think I need to be somewhere with flexibility / better perks/ other people to cover me when I need time off. Looks good on CV so will stick it out for mat/ early return to work then have a serious think.

Has anyone else there had a baby recently you could ask to see if they did anything for them? I think its definitely worth asking if they will help in any way and at least then you have gone on record telling them you are struggling. Hard convo to have though, good luck!

Luhou · 02/10/2023 13:30

@TunnocksTCake that sounds like a tough environment. Difficult when the company is so small.

Think this is what annoys me about my company we have 100 plus employees, so there should be better procedure!

Mummyme87 · 02/10/2023 13:31

@Luhou the joys of working in maternity, a large expectation to just crack on. Which I totally get, I’m not a slacker, but it’s physically hard work

had my bloods done this morning, got an automatic follow up in two weeks regardless of blood results as is our policy for itching. I’ll be able to check them tomorrow though and hopefully normal

Luhou · 02/10/2023 13:42

@Mummyme87 it's naff, you'd think that working with midwives they'd understand. Likewise not a slacker, but feel like adjustments could be made - whereby I could still fully do my job in more comfort!

Mummyme87 · 02/10/2023 13:45

@Luhou exactly. You could be a lot more efficient if more comfortable!!!

Onedayatatime24 · 02/10/2023 15:29

@Luhou @Mummyme87 I'm struggling at the min with work - literally just not at my normal (non preggo) levels of output or quality of work. I also work in marketing so it's not important stuff, but frustrating when I know I'm not working at my best, despite trying my hardest. Mix of my brain not working, nipping out for appointments, being uncomfortable on my chair, thinking about what I need to buy or do next etc. It's crazy how you're expected to just carry on as normal!

Had our 25 week appointment today and got to hear baby's heartbeat which was nice. Midwife did say it's more for us that it is them, as it doesn't really say anything other than they have a good heartbeat. I'm also measuring very big but she said that's normal as I have a high BMI and it's very likely that growth scans will show him growing normally as my 20 week scan measurements were absolutely fine. She didn't seem concerned by it anyway. The measuring tape did seem very old school! 😂

suz2285 · 02/10/2023 16:01

@Onedayatatime24 the measuring tape has caused me so much stress this last few days! Such a weird way to measure tbh! My boy is def measuring on the big side but everyone keeps telling me my bump is so neat so 🤷‍♀️😂

Totally with you on work, luckily I work from home 3 out of 5 days but tbh it's not my full on work as usual, luckily like you it's not 'urgent' work and we're in our quiet time of year so it's good but yeah between appointments, thinking about baby stuff and just being tired and sore then yeah! I'm hoping later on into the pregnancy I can work from home most of the time toward the end of the year! 🤞
