@suz2285 She said the tape is not very accurate, so not sure why they bother! Guessing cheaper than scanning everyone 🤷‍♀️ but yeah, very weird and every pregnant person I've spoken to has said it just stressed them out!

I think I'd do even less if I worked from home (lying on the bed is too tempting) but will probably start to from Nov/Dec time. There's only so much brain space available tbh and my priorities are not work any more, so a bit of a shift for me and for my boss I think. 😬

suz2285 · 02/10/2023 16:29

@Onedayatatime24 100% extra stress, even though you know it's not that accurate! But yeah you're right means they don't have to keep scanning people! I've had so many scans I'm really not wanting any more I just want to just cruise to 40 weeks now tbh!!

So true, I do 90% of my work the 2 days in the office, the other 3 I'm just keeping an eye on urgent matters, I used to be quite motivated at home working but when it's a quieter time and I'm just not fully in it,
I do appreciate being able to have some down time though! And a relaxed working environment!

Mushroo · 02/10/2023 16:53

Had my growth scan after reduced movements on Saturday.

Went really well! She has hair and is bit heavier than average (2 pounds 9oz and 76th percentile).

Pretty happy with that - just need my gestational diabetes to go ok tomorrow 😬

LittleAlien24 · 02/10/2023 17:46

Fair play to all of you working. I can't even do anything at home without stomach going hard and pains everywhere.
Had my endocrinologist appointment today. Bloodtest levels all ok, no need to increase medicine and she doesn't want to see me until 6 to 8 weeks after baby is born. Yay one doctor less to see 😁
Im usually not a leggings person but got myself pair of maternity ones today and omg they so comfy

WitcheryDivine · 02/10/2023 17:54

That's great news @Mushroo! Hair as well! lovely.

@suz2285 thanks for asking, it came back with a vengeance last night but then had some worry today after I managed to hurt my bump (!!!) so have been back to the hospital again. They did a quick scan and baby looked fine - was even sucking its thumb! Still can't help worrying though, despite the doc telling me they're very well cushioned in there.

Mushroo · 02/10/2023 17:56

@WitcheryDivine thank you! The midwife was really lovely pointing out loads of things like her eyes being open.

DH now keeps calling her our ‘large, hairy baby’ 😂

FirstT1meMum · 02/10/2023 18:17

Has anyone been offered or had their covid booster? I mentioned it to my midwife last week and she said I needed to check the gov website to see if I was eligible. I've always been offered it through the Dr's (DH is classed as high risk). She said the guidance on who was eligible is constantly changing and wasn't sure if I was eligible 🤷‍♀️ I'm booked for my flu next week so will mention it but just wondering if anyone has been offered it? We've got a lot of illnesses doing the rounds in school so trying to avoid as many as possible 🤣

Mushroo · 02/10/2023 18:21

@FirstT1meMum Ive not been offered it but I contacted my GP and been invited to the flu / covid clinic in a couple of weeks.

Pregnant women are definitely eligible. If your GP is a nightmare to get hold of, I think you can also book it online via the NHS website

suz2285 · 02/10/2023 18:35

@FirstT1meMum you are eligible, I went for flu and asked at reception and she added covid on - though she did have to check if I was allowed, and I got both at the same time, worked well so I'd ask at your flu jab, think they're quite far behind with getting stuff out for covid tbh! Flu they seemed quick at getting the letters out

suz2285 · 02/10/2023 18:37

@Mushroo that's great, I had my growth scan today too after the drama yesterday and he was 1lb 15 estimated 90th percentile...

Good luck for the diabetes test 🤞

buckingmad · 02/10/2023 18:46

I’m off to triage 🙄 my left leg has swollen to about twice the size of my right. My legs do swell often at work but it’s unusual for one to be noticeably bigger than the other. Maternity triage want me to come in for a blood test to rule out a clot. I imagine it’s all linked to my low BP and poor circulation but best to be safe.

Rang MIL to sit at ours (DD is asleep) and she insisted she must have her tea first 😂 no sense of urgency that woman.

of course this happens the one night DD is in bed super early and I could relax!

FirstT1meMum · 02/10/2023 18:46

@Mushroo @suz2285 Brill thank you! I'll mention it when I have my flu and see what they say about doing it or if I need to go online!

Luhou · 02/10/2023 19:06

Hope all okay @buckingmad, best to get checked out.

sashastuck · 02/10/2023 19:10

Hope all is okay @buckingmad x

Lots of messages to catch up on but glad all was okay with your scans @Mushroo @suz2285 . Can’t believe our bubs are approaching 2lbs!

I nearly went in myself today for reduced movements, I remember someone saying on here that sometimes babies have quiet days after really active days - he was so active all weekend then today I didn’t feel anything until after dinner in the past hour. He’s back to his usual wiggling now. Dinner always does the job 😂

Hummusanddipdip · 02/10/2023 19:37

Hope you're ok @buckingmad and it's a quick easy visit for you!

Mushroo · 02/10/2023 19:41

@buckingmad hope triage isn’t too bad for you, good luck!

MrsJ6921 · 02/10/2023 19:54

@FirstT1meMum Yep! Go on the NHS website and enter your NHS number and they’ll ask if you’re pregnant then you’ll get a list of where you can book. I also got offered it at the same time as my flu jab but I’d already had my Covid booster the week before 😊

Onedayatatime24 · 02/10/2023 20:16

@FirstT1meMum I'm booked in to have it with my flu jab in a few weeks so definitely eligible! My GP is doing mine.

@sashastuck I find mine is always super active at the weekend then quieter during the week, not sure why! Maybe I eat more/move less at the weekend? 😂

Matildahoney · 02/10/2023 20:17

@FirstT1meMum I had my flu jab at Boots last week, I was offered my Covid jab at the same time.

buckingmad · 02/10/2023 20:43

My first time at this hospital triage and it was much less chaotic than where I had my first!

They didn’t think it was a clot, just another joyful symptom of pregnancy. They offered an ultrasound but said I’d have to be treated as if it was a clot until they could prove otherwise which meant taking blood thinners. I’d rather avoid taking anything unless I need to so declined and went home. The swelling has gone down which they said wouldn’t happen if it was a clot.

thanks for all the well wishes!

MrsJ6921 · 02/10/2023 21:14

When are any of the other FTM packing their hospital bags?

I don’t want to pack until late November/December however I definitely want to be organised as November/December is crazy for us.

Mummyme87 · 02/10/2023 21:27

I had my flu vaccine just over a week ago, my trust don’t recommend having cov and flu together anymore as if you react you won’t know which one to… which is what I said last time. So I’ll have Covid vax when I’m back from Rhodes. All pregnant women are eligible.

Mushroo · 02/10/2023 21:28

@MrsJ6921 ive started buying some bits (mainly massive knickers) and have a little pile in the corner of the bedroom. Does anyone have anything they’d recommend that I might have missed?

DH has taken it on himself to be in charge of the actual packing, so I’m leaving it up to him. I’ll gently nag from the start of November I think…

LittleAlien24 · 02/10/2023 21:32

@MrsJ6921 im not FTM but already thinking about the hospital bags. Was actually about to ask a question about it.
I think I'll pack mine end of October /early November, well most of it. Just want to be organised.

So question about baby clothes/nappies etc for hospital. I gave birth to my other kids in another country and everything for the baby was provided by the hospital, even clothes for hospital stay. So all i packed for the baby was clothes and blanket for coming home.
I talked with someone in the hospital here today and she said i need to bring my own clothes for the baby and she's not sure about nappies so told me to bring them just in case. I probably have to stay in hospital for 2 to 3 days (csection) so how many NB size and 0-3 months clothes should i bring with me and how many nappies? We live a bit over an hour drive from the hospital so can't just pop back home to crab more stuff. Is there anything else i should take with me for him (im planning to BF so no need for bottles etc)?

FirstT1meMum · 02/10/2023 21:48

Thank you all for your advice! Really do appreciate it!

@buckingmad glad it all seems to be okay! That sounds like a very worrisome thing to happen!
