Weirdly I find DH talking to the bump (literally putting his head near it and saying "hello baby!") sometimes makes them move. Must be a really different kind of sound to our voices and other people who are further away.

buckingmad · 29/09/2023 15:07

Maybe it varies by trust but my previous one didn’t like you doing things to make baby move if you were worried about reduced movement. They just wanted you to come in

Onedayatatime24 · 29/09/2023 15:13

Ahh thanks everyone, that's made me feel loads better! So hard to know what's a worry and what's me overthinking everything, but good to hear everyone's experiences.

@Kalodin I did wonder if he just keeps shifting around as some days I'm forever going to the loo and others I'm okay, so maybe that's why some days I feel him more than others?

@WitcheryDivine same here, for a couple of days they'll be consistent then the next few days they'll switch around and I'll be feeling things in totally different places!

@Lightningrain I've only had one or two from the outside, he must've just felt energetic that day! Mine also said not to worry until 26 weeks so I am probably just overthinking things as per.

@Luhou yes I am also forever drinking cold water and lying down for 30 mins to see if I can feel anything. Sometimes I get a few movements, others I don't! It's so strange to feel him so much one day and then hardly anything the next.

Kalodin · 29/09/2023 15:41

I think it probably depends who you talk to as well @buckingmad As I rang up for DS3 saying I hadn't felt him move and was told to lie on my left for 2 hours and then call back. When I called back I spoke to someone else who told me I should have come straight in if there had been no movements to begin with 🤦‍♀️

sashastuck · 29/09/2023 15:45

@Onedayatatime24 I had a similar experience at around 25 weeks, a couple of very quiet days then boom, I woke up on the weekend looking bigger and he’s moved more throughout the day a lot more since. I was starting to worry he was nocturnal 😂

I’ve not found that he responds to anything in particular, it’s all random. I was playing some relaxing music for him the other day, felt nothing then DP came in rapping nonsense and baby seemed to love it 😂 today though I felt him kicking back when I’d rub him! Can’t wait to feel more of that bond where he actually responds to voice and touch!!

Luhou · 29/09/2023 16:05

Where are people feeling the movements. I'm way above my belly button now and wondering if this is normal?

RG9895 · 29/09/2023 16:07

@Luhou mine are way above my belly button too with the odd ones low down I think she must flip a lot lol sometimes mine are so high i think she is so close to my rib but I tend to have quite bad posture sometimes so it could be where im scrunched up too 😂

Also for anyone worried about movements I would say always get checked! You know your baby and body better than anyone and even just to put you at ease then go...I am 25+3 and I've been twice already

Flossiepot · 29/09/2023 16:08

Mine are mainly to the right hand side of my belly button almost within a like of it when I can see them. Sometimes a little lower. 25+3 and deffo been feeling him a lot more regularly this week I wouldn't say there's a pattern though just most of the time now 🥰

sashastuck · 29/09/2023 16:38

Mine are still below belly button, 80% of the time to the left x

LittleAlien24 · 29/09/2023 16:39

Im 24+6 and he's all over the place 😁 i noticed that he moves more after i eat breakfast, lunch or dinner not really after the snacks and when im facetiming with OH and daughter

EL27 · 29/09/2023 16:48

Who has experienced braxton hicks yet? To be honest I don't know a lot about braxton hicks (first pregnancy) but heard them mentioned here a few times.

Is it normal to feel them now and can you describe what they feel like? Yesterday I felt a weird tightness across lower belly, not painful and only lasted few minutes but was a weird sensation, is that what it is like?

Salamander91 · 29/09/2023 16:53

I'm 26+2 and feeling kicks all over the place. I can feel kicks above belly button and very low at the same time so I'm guessing it's arm movements I'm feeling as well now.

@EL27 I get them sometimes when I'm walking. It's normal as long as they aren't painful. I've heard they actually start in the first trimester we just can't feel them that early on.

Mummyme87 · 29/09/2023 17:17

On movements, under 26weeks for reduced movements midwife would listen to HB with a Doppler/sonicaid. Which doesn’t really tell you anything bar, baby is alive. If you’re feeling movements under 26weeks just feels a bit different then it’s likely change of position, if no movement at all no matter what you do, that is different and you should go in to confirm a HB. After 26weeks we can monitor baby so concerns of reduced movements can be actioned.

I haven’t felt much of baby at all today, probably since this morning now I’m thinking about it 🧐

went to the baby show today, not as good as the London one but good for after tickets! Bought some more cloth nappies, reusable wipes and reusable breast pads (recommend the little lamb bamboo ones), the Love to Dream Swaddles and some dummies. Had really wanted to get DH to play with the pram I want but had no bugaboo!! And we played with the Joie 360 spin car seat (most places only stock isize one now)

@Mushroo just in case you see something you love, being on mat leave shouldn't impact the mortgage situation. I'm the higher earner also and the bank just required a letter from my HR that I was going back full time hours after our shared parental leave, and how much of our leave was on full pay for me and partner, and how much was stat or unpaid. We got the mortgage done, and it was a significant increase

Ah thank you! That is reassuring as there’s some roads we have our eye on which I’d hate to miss out on if something came up next year!

suz2285 · 29/09/2023 17:47

@EL27 I'm having the Braxton hicks too, not too regular, usually when I'm relaxing in the evening actually but yes just light a tightening of the uterus, kinda like it goes tight and hard, not uncomfortable just noticeable, lasts maybe 30 or so seconds then goes away

buckingmad · 29/09/2023 18:25

Yep lots of braxton hicks here when I walk. Bump goes really hard and tight and sometimes I get a wave of pressure along with it. Goes away soon as I rest for a bit.

Mummyme87 · 29/09/2023 18:33

We will be moving and likely increasing mortgage next year, I read as long as you are going back to work and get a letter from work it doesn’t affect ability to get mortgage.

Onedayatatime24 · 29/09/2023 18:40

@Mummyme87 ahh this is good to know. I do still feel him on 'quiet' days, just much less strong and in different places so guessing he's just moved around. Hopefully should hear heartbeat on Monday.

Ooh I've been looking at swaddles so will check that brand out!

sashastuck · 29/09/2023 21:07

@Mummyme87 I’m going to the Baby Show tomorrow! Hope you feel more of baby tonight x

Just had a horrible horrible argument with DH. Still fresh but I just feel so defeated, he’s gone to his mum’s which I would NEVER normally want but tonight it was just too much for me. Baby was kicking me the whole time and I feel so so guilty now that he could hear it and feel my emotions. Can babies be affected by stress like this (hopefully a one off)?

sashastuck · 29/09/2023 21:08

DP* certainly not thinking of him as my husband right now 🙃

LittleAlien24 · 29/09/2023 21:52

@sashastuck so sorry to hear about that. Don't think they'll be affected by this one time, think they just feel it. I know it's easier to say than do but try not to worry. Really hope everything will be better with you and your OH tomorrow.

Mummyme87 · 30/09/2023 00:24

Ah sorry you’ve had a nasty argument @sashastuck I’ve yet to have a major one with DH this time whilst pregnant but have done in the past. Hopefully both of you sleeping on it will help.
don’t worry about baby, he’s not affected by that ❤️

I’m up crying because DS2 can’t sleep because he’s got bloody worms. I’ve given him the tablet but he can’t sleep because of the itchy bum. I’m literally beside myself because I don’t know what else to do. Why are children so yuck 😑😞

MrsJ6921 · 30/09/2023 06:50

I actually feel the majority of movements but particularly kicks around my belly button area. I just presumed this was because she’s getting bigger as they’re really visible but I am 26+1 today.

I have a feeling she’ll have long legs as both me and her Dad were long babies.

sashastuck · 30/09/2023 07:21

@LittleAlien24 @Mummyme87 thank you both for your kindness ❤️ I hope today is better. Might go to the Baby Show alone today to feel nice and connected to bubba.

@Mummyme87 your night sounds really hard, so sorry to hear. Hope you both got to sleep in the end!

Dannic2018 · 30/09/2023 09:01

@sashastuck aw bless you hope you’re ok. I promise I’ve had so much stress through my pregnancies previously and my babies were all fine. Pregnancy is bloody hard!

@Mummyme87 I caught worms when I worked in a nursery years ago and by god I have sympathy for your son, sorry but it’s an absolutely awful feeling and I couldn’t sleep with it. Bless you both

Well I’ve had another monthly Canestan thrush treatment yesterday. Also sure my foof is broken and by the time I’m full term I’ll be in agony.
Had my weekend lie in this morning and hubby said I was snoring that loud he could hear on the monitor 🤣🤣🤣
