I was surprised to have a 25 week appointment as this is my 4th and I go again at 28 weeks but get my bloods done then.

My hubby never slept anywhere else just his side of the bed when we co-slept. I got a nice all in one pjs from Asda last year that crosses at the chest so perfect for feeding and warm for when I don’t have the covers over me. I follow the sleep safe rules and co slept with all 3. My first and my 2 year old have loved the closeness but my 2nd preferred his own space as he got older.
I think everyone has to do what’s right for them and what works. I just liked that I could get my boob out and snooze 🤣🤣 I’m anything for a easy life, can’t do sleep training etc as I’m too soft and I know eventually they will sleep through so took the pressure off.

Can I ask is SPD where your pelvis aches ? It’s starting to ache when I walk around my groin/inner thigh area like I’ve walked miles ? I’m wondering if this is because of my last birth and some pelvis trauma or just getting old 🤷‍♀️🤣

FirstT1meMum · 28/09/2023 20:33

@Flossiepot I've seen the same community midwife at each appointment based at my doctors but have heard others don't see the same one twice!

Feeling rather tired this week, had about an hours nap after work for the past two days 😴 not too sure if it's just how manic work is at the moment or if baby is having a growth spurt or something!

Ttcdcno1 · 28/09/2023 20:39

ive been referred to a physio but god knows how long that will take.
i am struggling at school. I have a constant dull ache all across my hips and back and then as the day goes on I get shooting pains on my bone with a bit of sciatica on my left side thrown in for good measure. As I was walking the dog last night I had a pain all under my bump like a pulled muscle, every step was agony. Yesterday was a tough day though so probably overdid it
im supposed to be there until Christmas 🙃👀

buckingmad · 28/09/2023 20:44

I am absolutely knackered. Work do a day each year where we give back to the community so today was a mile walk to the local allotment to help tidy it up for winter. 6 hours of weeding, fruit picking, turning soil etc. Then had to rush home and do some baking for macmillan coffee morning tomorrow. Just waiting for my cupcakes to cool down so I can put them in the tin and go to bed! Will ice them in the morning.

Getting my hair cut and coloured tomorrow afternoon so can’t wait to sit with a cup of tea and do nothing for a few hours

Luhou · 28/09/2023 21:01

Sorry to hear so many of us are struggling with aches and pains, but good to know it's normal I suppose.

I feel like there's so much pressure on my pelvis now. I am really struggling in the car too @Mummyme87. Getting dressed and out the bath also really painful. I just long to get in bed at night and lay on my side.

Anybody been wetting themselves? 🙈

Hummusanddipdip · 28/09/2023 21:11

@Luhou yes, well sort of.
I have a weak pelvic floor after having ds. Usually is OK, except if I'm on a trampoline (actively avoid) but since getting pregnant any sneeze, cough, even running a little pee dribbles out unless I cross my legs (impossible when running I assure you).

Great as my 1:1 is a fan of bolting, I've had to start wearing pads at work...

All the advice I've had is "practice your pelvic floor exercises" which I do, but not great help 🤷‍♀️

The pain isn't great, it's all in my left bum cheek and down the back of my thigh. Lower back started to hurt today too... I'm planning to start mat leave after the Christmas break. Hoping I can last, but with ds I had such severe brain fog, I couldn't function and had to stop work 2 months early. This time I'm just grumpy and I hate that...

Luhou · 28/09/2023 21:16

@Hummusanddipdip good to know I'm not alone. I'm the same regarding coughing, which sometimes means when I'm being sick I wet myself too!

I haven't tried running, fortunately have a desk job! And DD knows mummy can't go on the trampoline at the moment.

I'm planning on working up till 36 weeks, not sure I've got anothe 12 weeks in me. Feeling very unmotivated.

Mummyme87 · 28/09/2023 21:20

My pelvic floor isn’t great after two pregnancies with whopper babies. I do pelvic floor exercises, so keeping it at bay but doesn’t take much to leak.

my SPD is mainly pubic bone and into groins, more left side. Also in my bum underneath in the bones. I get a lot of pain if I sit upright at a 90degree angle and have to stand up. Bit of lower back but that I can right with better posture. The joys!!!

lucya66 · 28/09/2023 21:45

I’ve weed once a bit after a particularly violent sneeze…

had my 25 /26 week appointment this week. So fast, measuring fine and going to see mw again in two weeks. She didn’t offer me to hear the heartbeat so I assume my trust don’t.

All good here lots of big kicks now.

LittleAlien24 · 28/09/2023 22:47

@suz2285 sounds like my little one 😁 I've so many scan pictures and yet there's not a 1 decent one.
@Mummyme87 don't scare me. I've over 10 hour drive next week 😩 and some days i feel like he's fully stretched out, same time pressure on top of my belly and then on pubic bone like he wants to come out
@Luhou well kinda. I was laughing to my OH that im like a potty training toddler who needs to change her underwear so many times a day lol

Gremlin84 · 29/09/2023 09:42

I think the seeing position of baby and heartbeat is just something done by my trust (maybe the former to find the heartbeat quickly like @Mummyme87 says) - I looked at the notes afterwards (I always do) and there's a little table the midwife has to fill out from 25 weeks onwards for foetal heartbeat, size of bump, position as well as the usual blood pressure and any notes on wee test. 25 week appointment here is only for FTM, but I am one - kind of nice to have the extra time otherwise it would be ages and ages between checks.

So far been lucky with pelvic floor and sneezing/coughing even through a horrid cold - I do a lot of singing so had some pre-existing strength there and in abs. Just trying not to be lazy about exercises though as I know it'll come back to bite me if I think singing muscles will cut it. Do have a bit of pain though - mostly sharp pain in right bum cheek that no amount of gentle stretching eases.

Feeling crappy today! Got back off holiday so have a mound of washing today and just feeling really sad we’re not in our ‘family home’ so won’t have a proper nursery.

Also our bedroom is really humid and it smelt of damp coming back off holiday and it’s made me really worried for the baby sleeping in there.

We are moving house in 2025 post Mat leave but just having one of those days where I feel a bit crappy about it. (Especially as we can afford a bigger house, I just didn’t want to move before I got pregnant in case it didn’t work out for us and we bought a family house for no family - always the pessimist….!)

Physically still feel fine though so swings and roundabouts. Have my 28 week appointment and diabetes test next week so hoping they both go ok.

suz2285 · 29/09/2023 11:02

@LittleAlien24 right? I mean why can they not just pose for a photo or two! 😂 kids 🤷‍♀️

@Mushroo sounds exactly like me, I get annoyed we've got no space here either but we looked to sell/buy a few months back and it's just not gonna work right now, my house value has gone down so much we'd be paying money to leave here even if we sold (which is not likely right now) and then increasing our mortgage due to the inflation rates which makes no sense while I'm going on Mat leave, we're going to try and move in 2025 also 🙈 I hope it's better by then! We also couldn't sell my husbands flat so it's currently rented which is another thing we may have to sort before we move as well!

I think houses always smell a bit weird when you get back from hols and you've also got holiday blues, you'll feel better once you're settled back in 🥰 I've just spent the morning putting more clothes away to make space, cleaning the kitchen, cleaning the oven, and I need to do the floor later on I think 🙈😂 it's never ending!

Mushroo · 29/09/2023 11:15

@suz2285 yup that is exactly us! I’m the higher earner so trying to sort out mortgages whilst I’m on Mat leave is not going to happen. Need to just focus on 2025…!

Going shopping today to try and cheer myself up a bit 😬

suz2285 · 29/09/2023 11:36

@Mushroo good plan! I was the higher earner too but husband just got a new job and with his overtime it's a decent wage, but also might mean I'm not eligible for any child payments... but I still have to claim them and then opt out so I get my tax credits or something! What a faff... honestly childcare etc is so complicated! But yeah we're the same, we can afford to move but it doesn't make sense to do it right now

I'm sure we'll both manage and I'm excited to finally sort it all and have a bigger place for us eventually! 🤞 enjoy shopping!!

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 29/09/2023 11:44

@Mushroo just in case you see something you love, being on mat leave shouldn't impact the mortgage situation. I'm the higher earner also and the bank just required a letter from my HR that I was going back full time hours after our shared parental leave, and how much of our leave was on full pay for me and partner, and how much was stat or unpaid. We got the mortgage done, and it was a significant increase

Vikki7 · 29/09/2023 12:09

26+4 today and I'm so lethargic! Surely I shouldn't start feeling so exhausted again until the last part of 3rd trimester?! Saying that, my 4 y/o son was awake very upset last night from 00:30-06:00 so could be that but I've felt it most of this week when he has slept well. At least my 6y/o sleeps well, I'm envious of how well she sleeps! I can't believe my growth scans start in just 10 days! I can't wait to see my tiny again!

Kalodin · 29/09/2023 12:49

Iron levels all okay @Vikki7 ?

I just haven't declared I'm pregnant when sorting out my Remortgage, no one asked so why would I tell them. And besides, we bought our first home just after our first born and most of my bank statements only had maternity pay on them, a simple confirmation of me returning back to my job post maternity secured our mortgage.

Onedayatatime24 · 29/09/2023 13:05

Hi all, just after some advice! I'm 24+5 and Mon/Tues felt some really strong movements/obvious kicks higher up around my belly button and could see them from the outside. Then Weds/Thurs and today he's been pretty quiet in there, I feel some movements but back to more pulse-like and low down. Rang my midwife who said as long as I'm feeling something then it's fine at this stage until 26-28 weeks where you start to kick count properly. But obviously makes you worry!

Anyone else find baby still has active and quiet days? I'm not sure what's normal a this point! Is it still quite early to be feeling regular strong kicks?

Kalodin · 29/09/2023 13:16

Positioning of baby makes a huge difference @Onedayatatime24 Especially at this stage when there's still quite a bit of room for them to shift about in and they can easily face different ways

WitcheryDivine · 29/09/2023 13:23

I don't know what's normal as I'm a first timer but the locations of the kicks/jabs is certainly varying a lot and that affects how much I feel them. Out to the side - YUP. Downwards - aware but feels much milder.

I presume that they are doing it "inwards" just as often as outwards but up to now I've not been able to feel that at all.

Lightningrain · 29/09/2023 13:24

@Onedayatatime24 I’m 26+1 and haven’t felt any movements from the outside yet. I also haven’t noticed lots of movement throughout the day - it’s mostly in the evening. Mine have all been pulse like so far and I’m a bit further along.

It’s actually only within the last few days that I’ve started to feel movements anywhere other than my left hand side below my belly button. My baby was transverse at the last midwife appointment so it makes sense that I was only feeling anything where the feet would be.

I’m sure your midwife won’t mind you calling if you’re worried but mine said not to worry about tracking movement until at least 26 weeks.

Luhou · 29/09/2023 14:00

@Onedayatatime24 have your tried anything to get baby moving? I had reduced movement with DD. Was forver drinking a ice cold water, or playing music. Often a bath would help too.

Might be worth a try?
