@Sunshineclouds11 I am not in the uk so they do the scan then it needs to be fully reported by someone else . Although I kept asking does all look ok and she said yes.

then at one point she asked if we had tested for Down syndrome and I got really panicky asking why kind of tests etc but she said she was only asking for what she needed then..... :(

@Mangotango39 your results all look borderline though, as in you are just inside the healthy range for everything? That's maybe why they didn't flag anything at the 20 week scan?

Will they do an nipt now? It's really good they're checking you out and being thorough however

Mangotango39 · 07/10/2023 11:39

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7I am not to sure just yet - they couldn't really say much on the midwife and go. We have specialist referral for Wednesday and the full rescan (not sure if more detailed?!)
Will hopefully get more advice then. Being borderline for things does give us hope!

Straight cord is quite weird and I can't find barely anything online about that! Even weirder!

DmcinT · 07/10/2023 12:58

@Mangotango39 oh I’m sorry ur going through this stress. My cousin had some soft markers also but her little boy was born perfect. Esp with u being inside normal ranges for each (even just) I’d really try to not worry but I know that’s easier said than done.

ive kicks/punches low down but in the last day or 2 they’ve started to move up slightly and OH was able to feel one last night, she’s definitely getting stronger 😅 at the scan on Wednesday she was sucking away at her thumb and pulling on the cord, you could see her wee fingers curling around to grab the cord was so funny🥰
I’m just 21.5 now so have the foetal assessment on Monday to go through all the organs etc..

Shrillwaffle · 07/10/2023 13:02

@CheeseAndCrackersx and then you go to the toilet and you barely go but it feels like I’m about to pee myself 😅😅

Shrillwaffle · 07/10/2023 13:06

@Mangotango39 i don’t think a straight cord is anything to worry about as long as it’s not stretched. I’m not going to say this to scare you but hopefully reassure my last baby was found with a very coiled (hypercoiled) cord which cut off blood supply so I’m assuming a straight cord is good as it allows the blood supply through easily. You can ask them about putting you on aspirin maybe which thins the blood to make it easier to pass through the cord maybe?

Kelb79 · 07/10/2023 16:14

Anyone know what all the 20 week measurements mean? I got told everything was normal but I don’t understand the results themselves 🤣
And on an interest factor…. Can the measurements give you gender clues?? 🤔
I almost wish we’d found out now!! I’m desperate to know but I still want a surprise 🤣❤️

@DmcinT yeah they do seem JUST on the border which is giving me comfort and DP is telling me they are being cautious for our own good. I suppose it's good they are taking it serious and straight onto a full new scan then steps from there! Glad to hear about your cousins little boy!

@Shrillwaffle I'm not sure re stretched, just said straight and I have heard that's 'hypocoiled' but so little about it anywhere . I did read hypercoiled was more serious . I'm so sorry that happened to you. I'll defo ask them re aspirin.

thanks everyone really appreciate xx

Shrillwaffle · 07/10/2023 18:09

@Mangotango39 i hope it’s reassured you a bit there isn’t much on hypercoiling either just that’s it’s rare and they don’t know (I think it’s cause my baby was super active from 18 weeks but idk) in the UK they say they can’t see the cord :/ But straight sounds good to me maybe it was just an observation rather than something to be too concerned about. They don’t think it’ll happen with my cord but I’ve been on aspirin since day 2 for that reason.

Interesting, yours looks really different to mine! But I can help you with the parts off mine:
HC is head circumference
AC is abdominal circumference
EFW is estimated foetal weight

Then it shows all your results (the diamond) are in the normal range (the line)

Mine wasn’t explained much at the appointment and the report doesn’t give much info either!

@Ihatewinding I haven't had a previous c section so hopefully there will be no problems with it moving.
I was actually shocked when she said it was anterior as I've being feeling movements for the last couple of weeks now, maybe your right though. As it's low lying we can feel the movements more.

xTinkerbell · 07/10/2023 22:33

@anony1111 my placenta was anterior low lying with DD. Moved up and out the way by 30 weeks. Apparently very common and most times if placenta isn’t covering the cervix then it will move. So hopefully you’re the same

Cheetocat · 08/10/2023 00:39

Partner took me to the beach for a churro after dinner and I regret it so much, hours later I'm even getting heartburn from plain water!! I can't take an entire tray of rennies!

anony1111 · 08/10/2023 11:52

@xTinkerbell that's positive to hear, thank you 😊

MummyTo4BoysXXXX · 08/10/2023 16:23

@Cheetocat I've noticed I get heartburn when ever I eat white bread! 😂

CharXo · 08/10/2023 19:25

I feel like I get heartburn no matter what I eat or drink! It’s becoming so annoying 😩

MummyTo4BoysXXXX · 08/10/2023 19:30

@CharXo aww bless you hun, I know that feeling! Was like it for me last year the whole way through pregnancy with my son & then it went when he was born! I was drinking gaviscon by the bottle daily 😂

CharXo · 08/10/2023 19:33

@MummyTo4BoysXXXX yes literally it’s how I’ve been. Every single day! I kept forgetting to buy gaviscon until last night I finally remembered to get some.. typically today I haven’t had it at all! Didn’t have it with my previous 2 boys but this one has made up for it for sure!

Clueless13 · 09/10/2023 06:29

Is anyone having horrible back pains as soon as they wake up? My back is always so stiff and it’s mainly the middle, like behind my ribs x

Yes! It's so uncomfortable. I've tried propping myself with pillows and such but haven't found a solution yet.

Ebonythoughts · 09/10/2023 09:49

@Clueless13 yes! Last few days especially. Pregnancy pillow helps a little but I have an arched back so generally getting back pain as my bump grows but definitely worse first thing.

PeeBeee · 09/10/2023 09:55

Morning all! Has anyone got their 20 week scan this week? Mine is tomorrow!

Clueless13 · 09/10/2023 11:25

@Ebonythoughts
@Cheetocat
It’s awful, the only time it goes away is when I lay on my back, but conscious of not doing that too often or for too long! I’ve ordered myself a pregnancy pillow, will see if that makes a difference 🤞🏽

Cheetocat · 09/10/2023 11:55

Just had the 20w scan, everything seems okay apart from one thing. I'm 21w2d and baby's nose bone is only 4.8mm which is lower than 1st percentile. I'm really shaken, they redid calculations for trisomy 21 and it came back 1 in 1800 which they still consider low risk. She offered amniocentesis but I said no for now, we're going to do the NIPT for €350 and see what that says. I'm really worried about my baby now, why is his nose so small if it's not a chromosome abnormality??
