I'm having regular growth scans and baby is measuring bang on 50th centile and aet to be 7lb 8oz if i get to 40 weeks. I had regular growth scans with dd2 aswell though and they said she was on track for 10lbs if I got to 40 weeks. They even sent me for a second gtt which has negative.

I was induces at 38+4 and she came out a Diddy 6lb 9oz. She actually tracked the 2nd centile and didnt reach 10lbs until she was 12 weeks old. So to conclude I would take even scan measurements with a pinch of salt

RG84 · 24/10/2023 16:33

I hope the numbers are not always correct as main thing is baby is healthy but of course I don't want a massive bubs! .but I will find out on Friday!

I cannot wait until I take leave before the baby arrives, my last working day is the 17th November. Only have 2 weeks annual leave before the baby comes so not much time to chill and get bits done.

smldnlove · 25/10/2023 07:07

Really good to hear everyone’s growth scan turnarounds! Ours is still measuring small on 16th percentile- got another growth scan next week to check but hoping they aren’t as small as we think!

ThomasinaLivesHere · 25/10/2023 07:35

@Charlielechat I’m used to feeling a variety of movements and I never thought about hiccups but I realise I do feel them from the baby occasionally.

My last midwife appointment had my measurement as one week ahead. I’m thinking this baby will be similar to the first or perhaps bigger as I had low PAPPA with first which I don’t with this and that can make baby smaller. So I’m not going to buy small new born stuff like I did last time to prepare for any size as it was too small. I think it’s normal with the first to be over prepared. If the size of baby is surprisingly small, the baby will have to wear some baggy clothes until husband goes and gets new things 😂 but I’m more relaxed for the second time and don’t think will be an issue.

wannabemum38 · 25/10/2023 09:28

Yeah bump measurement and scan for me were so different. At 28 weeks baby was off chart MW said I was measuring big but already had a scan booked in cos of age and placenta issues. At 32 week scan baby is measuring bang on middle and weighing 4lb. Obviously that can change but yeah pinch of salt.
My sister didn't put on much weight had a small bump yet my niece came out at almost 10lbs!
I feel so unprepared too still need to get some bits and bobs, wash clothes, get hospital bag ready and I'm leaving work in 2 weeks can't wait am so ready to rest now

VillageFete · 25/10/2023 11:14

Hi all,

God we are hurtling towards the end, aren’t we?

6 weeks today my little lady is evicted (all being well)

This fills me with fear as i’m not organised this time around!! Still so much to buy. Luckily I have the pram, next to me crib, moses basket etc (all neutral colours) From when I had my son. I’ll just need new mattresses I think? They’re in the loft and i’ll get them down next week once i’ve finishes reorganising downstairs.

Growth scans/bump measurements. I take them with a pinch of salt.

My 14 year old DD was overdue and 8lb 9oz.
My 4 year old son was born at 39 weeks and was 8lb but my bump was measuring off the scale - he was predicted to be huge based off bump measurement, but was around 50th centile on growth scan. Obviously he wasn’t a small baby but wasn’t massive either, although rather big for my 5’1 frame.

On my growth scans this time, she’s on smaller side - 30th centile. I’ll be surprised if she’s small with me having 8lb’ers in the past, but we will see. I know plenty of ladies who have had growth scans that were notoriously inaccurate.

4 years ago when I had my son, we ended up with a Mumsnet Facebook group where we supported each other with a night feed thread. It was a God send, it can be a very lonely, knackering time. Do we have anything like that up and running?

17caterpillars1mouse · 25/10/2023 11:45

@VillageFete

We have a Facebook group but nobody posts on it. I think they all moved over to WhatsApp but im not a member

RG84 · 25/10/2023 13:03

I didnt know there was a whatspp group, what are the details please?

Mamabear300 · 25/10/2023 16:58

Hi ladies, hope you don't mind me joining in on your thread (bit late I know) I'm due 18th December so 32 +2 now and just needed a vent somewhere that people might actually understand or at least some of it anyway! Bit of back story I had 2 mmc last year and obviously pregnant again this year I'm truly greatful for being pregnant this time however this pregnancy has been the hardest I have ever had im mum to 2 DDs ages 12 and 10 you'd think it would be easier with them being older but they both have additional needs and when there at home together it's world war 9000 which is currently taking place now , I've been in hospital more times than I can count due to severe HG, bleeds, collapsing and covid! I also have severe SPD (now known as PGP) and I've been on crutches for the last 20 odd weeks it's been that bad! My husband works full time and although he tries to understand he can't understand if that makes sense. I lost my dad very suddenly at 5.5 weeks pregnant too which hasn't helped either and many other stressful things throughout. I'm having a boy this time round and just feel totally obliterated by this pregnancy anything I could have I seem to of had and now I'm also having growth scans as he's measuring on the smaller side he's literally only just on the 10th centile but then having had 2 kids already I know they can get it wrong too. Don't really know what my point was other than abit of a rant hope all you ladies are doing well!!

FirstMondayInMay · 25/10/2023 20:02

@Mamabear300 welcome! It sounds like you’ve got a lot going on! I feel your pain with the PGP, I’m in agony at the minute, struggling to even lift my leg getting into the car😢

keep going, we’re almost there!

Mamabear300 · 25/10/2023 20:30

Thanks for your reply! I had it 10 years ago with my eldest and honestly this times a killer! They think I've got lasting damage from having my daughter which has made this time so much worse. My legs don't want to move most the time and I don't know about you but bedtime is terrible too. With extra added leg cramps. I feel like I'm 80 😂😔 x

VillageFete · 25/10/2023 20:44

@Mamabear300 Hi and welcome. It sounds like you’ve had such a rough time, i’m so sorry.

My pelvis is also kicking off and it’s so painful.

I’m mum to a 14 year old DD, 4 year old son and will have my final baby (girl) on 6th December.

My 14 year old causes me so much worry and stress. I don’t care what anyone says, it gets harder when they get older and it’s almost like they need you more!

Mamabear300 · 25/10/2023 22:11

Hi and thankyou for your message! If I'm honest that only scrapes the surface of what's been going on this year but I'm still here and carrying on somehow lol! My 12 year old is really pushing the boundaries lately she's been caught vaping, tried stealing money from me and her dad and a variety of other things, I know she too hasn't found certain things easy this year too and it makes it especially harder with her additional needs but holy crap some days I think I must be crazy having another baby when it does seem some how the older two are more reliant on me again suddenly in various ways! Most of my friends don't have older kids like mine so they don't really understand the way it is and that's aside from highschool and boyfriend dramas with both girls! ( don't get me started on these two things alone) Im 30 and had my eldest 2 weeks after 18th birthday and my youngest when I was 20 I now feel like an old lady aged 30 having another baby 😂 x

SMG1992 · 26/10/2023 08:00

Sorry to hear you are going through so much @Mamabear300 !
I can't offer much advice as I'm pregnant with my 1st so don't have the added stress of other siblings but try and make some time to take care of yourself.

I had a warm bath the other evening (my first all pregnancy as I've been too worried about everything post mmc) and it really helped soothe my PGP at least for that evening. It might also be a good little escape for you too.

Mamabear300 · 26/10/2023 10:19

@SMG1992 hi and thanks for your reply, I'm so sorry you've also endured the pain of mmc too people who haven't experienced it can never understand how it truly feels.

I did actually have a nice long soak in the bath last night and it was lovely however when you've got other children unfortunately mums relaxing bath time suddenly turns in to 'everyone needs a poo time' and everyone gravitates to the bathroom 🤦‍♀️😂.

RG84 · 26/10/2023 12:13

@Mamabear300 Sorry to hear that, must be tough but I hope you find a way through and get through it. Hopefully once baby is here, you may see a good change in your daughters. Well I hope so.
I am also due officially on the 18th Dec however will be earlier to a c-section.

I finally have approval for using KIT days during my maternity leave. For those who will be taking this opportunity, have you decided beforehand when you will be using these days or just as and when you want too?

Thanks for your response I think I'm in robotic mode today I've not done much and all I can think about is sleep. I nearly went into early labour at 23 weeks which was scary so the fact he's held on in till this point is really positive for us however with his growth and things he may be making an appearance alot sooner than he's supposed to be. I'm hoping to avoid a section if I can help it as I need to be able to be up and about and doing x

Nclktnntt · 26/10/2023 17:05

@RG84 is it yourself that's self employed too? I was thinking with mine I'll go back 1 day a week in April / May to do peoples colour touch ups and cuts and then have 6 weeks off then do the last 5, 1 day a week then have another 6 weeks then officially return September time 2/3 days a week. I currently do 3 days behind the chair each week. I've not fully decided in that plan.

I might just go back 1 day a week for the first 10 weeks using the kit days then do 2 days for the next few months then back to 3 from September time with no time off again in between. Just means my maternity allowance will stop much earlier but I have rent and bills to pay which that doesn't cover so I really need to sit and work out the best balancing act with it all. I want as much time with baby as possible but at the same time I have the rent and bills at my business place so dunno 🤷‍♀️😂😂😂

I suppose to answer you question, it depends on the type of work you do as to what might work out best for you with how to use the KIT days.

Ughhh also - to all of you who were getting the spotty skin week 24. Woke up this morning with 2 massive spots at week 31, how rude! I thought I'd got away with it 😂 I'm not a spotty person either so I feel this is worse than when I was a teenager ! 😂

@Nclktnntt I'm not self employed, one day though ;) it's great you have a plan and sounds like a good one.
I work full time Monday to Friday and from home. KIT days is something no one in the office has ever done but I requested it as we all know maternity pay is rubbish. I've told my employer I'll be taking 12 months maternity leave but will go back before that and utilise my annual leave that I've accured and bank Holidays. Initially I was thinking 1 day a month but don't think I'll see a difference in pay so might be better if I work 2 days a month or something like that. I'll still be working from home but just trying to figure out the best way.

wannabemum38 · 27/10/2023 01:30

@RG84 I've also requested to do KIT days i believe I can do up to 10 without it affecting how much maternity allowance I get. However today I was told I'm having my laptop taken off me as classed as long term absent. I work from home. And so now they say I might have to go into the office which is impossible as I won't have childcare probably until September as just can't afford it. Very frustrating.
We had our first NCT class tonight seemed like a nice bunch only 8 couples so not too many. My husband really struggles in groups of people as he is very shy and doesn't have a lot of confidence plus he has a slight stammer which only really affects him when tired or stressed but he survived it even though the other dads were all quite outgoing. But it was nice to be with other mums in real world!
34 weeks tomorrow not long to go!

Nclktnntt · 27/10/2023 10:52

@wannabemum38 Our antinatal classes start mid November because I was too late to get on the ones that are running just now so hopefully still some due around the same time in my sessions. I think there will be a few and the rest due jan maybe.

Would they organise getting your laptop/kit back to you ready for when you start the KIT days?

@RG84 do you just get statutory from the off set or does your place have anything else in place like full pay for so long then half hen statutory or anything like that? Maybe look to balance when the pay falls off completely or do them all at the end when the statutory has stopped as that's not for the full 12 months so will give some income at the end when there is none?

OP posts:
wannabemum38 · 27/10/2023 10:58

@Nclktnntt our due dates range from end of November to end of December in our group so usually a range.
No they won't do that regarding laptop etc. And I've told them today we have no childcare so I can't go into office and apparently company policy states can't look after a minor whilst working from home so not sure what we are going to do cos can't afford any childcare on the basic maternity allowance argh stress

ThomasinaLivesHere · 27/10/2023 11:11

@Mamabear300 Sorry to hear you’ve had such a tough time. I really feel for those who have such difficulties in pregnancy.

I’ve not suffered nearly as much as some but I’ve had cold after cold and so feeling run down at the moment. At the start when I found out I was pregnant I was thinking I really need to appreciate this as it will be the last time I’m pregnant but now I am over it and really sick of it and can’t wait until it’s over. I’m having a c-section and really hope I don’t have a cough then as it will be so painful coughing. One of the downside of a winter baby.

SMG1992 · 27/10/2023 11:54

I'm also finding it hard to appreciate the pregnancy.
I love being able to feel him and knowing that my body is doing great things by growing the baby.
But I haven't enjoyed anything about being pregnant in the same way you hear others talk about.
I honestly can't wait for him to be born so I can get my body back to feeling my own.
