Tentatively seeing if anyone else is due then yet?

I got a positive digital this morning and based on Ovulation I'd be due 30th April and 2nd May based on LMP, but until the dating scan that could easily change a week either way based on previous babies!

When will you self refer to the maternity services? In my area you don’t need to go via the GP. Last time I did it very early because it was lockdown and I thought they may be short staffed and have a longer waiting list.

JR94 · 02/09/2023 07:39

I filled in my form a couple of days ago abs they’ve sent me my first appt for 25th September cx

JR94 · 02/09/2023 07:40

The dizziness is really hitting me the last few days 😭 hope you’re all getting on okay.

Im back to work on Wednesday (teaching ) and absolutely dreading it xx

Pambeezley · 02/09/2023 08:41

@Plumful I was wondering the same, I also did it early last time, but through the GP, it was just before the first lockdown and I didn't have a clue! It's all changed now and through self referral, this time I'm waiting until I'm 6 weeks, which is next Tuesday, as I'm a negative Nelly and sure something is going to go wrong 🤦‍♀️

Iamcatmum · 02/09/2023 09:08

@Plumful - my GP’s website said I needed to self refer to maternity services. There was a form to fill out which said it would take up to 10 business days for them to get back to me with a date, so I sent mine in at 5 weeks because I thought it might take a while to get processed. My first appointment will be at 9+3! Feels weird waiting so long for the first appointment, but I understand why it’s done that way.

bluebunny2 · 02/09/2023 10:36

Hi everyone, hope you’re all doing well. I joined a different May thread but think more people are here. I’m approaching 6 weeks now with no 2.

lenalove · 02/09/2023 11:35

I self referred online to my local hospital/mat service and a few days later got sent a first appointment letter for 7 weeks and a scan appointment for 12 weeks x

Plumful · 02/09/2023 11:38

I think I’ll wait a couple of weeks just in case something goes wrong

Congratulations 😊 I'm coming up to 6 weeks too, and having baby no. 2 as well!

How're you feeling?

wishuponastar2018 · 02/09/2023 13:56

@Plumful my mouth has been super dry too normally i am drooling everywhere when pregnant so ifs a weird one for me

Think am going to call my Midwife next week already spoken to my consultant but i am going to try avoid an scan for a while fingers crossed 🤞

bluebunny2 · 02/09/2023 20:29

@Pambeezley I’m not feeling too bad. Mostly just tired and bloated to the point I look like I have a bump. Pregnancy is definitely not glamorous here 😅i don’t think nausea really kicked in until about 7 weeks with my first. How are you doing?

Pambeezley · 02/09/2023 20:34

@bluebunny2 anxious! I know symptoms come and go but my nausea seems to have gone, and my boobs aren't as sore... They've remained sore since just after ovulation, just went to the loo and wiped slightly yellowish discharge. I'm fearing the worst! I hate these weeks waiting ☹️ just going to see how it goes, I've had really strong tests, but I guess anything can happen at any time!

lenalove · 02/09/2023 21:47

@Pambeezley I had some yellowish discharge recently as well but turns out it was thrush which is apparently really common! Could be that?

Yellowish/milky white discharge totally normal in pregnancy, sometimes the vitamin s colour my pee and make my discharge yellow ..

If your worried ask you midwife for a LVS as others said might be just thrush

I also hare these weeks nerve racking

Pambeezley · 02/09/2023 22:07

@lenalove @wishuponastar2018 thank you, I don't have a midwife yet as I'm not quite 6 weeks, they only do anything after then in my area, apparently!

I haven't had a MC that I know of before, I think I had one when I was on contraceptives, years ago. But I've been around people that have had them, and also other loss. Which makes me anxious, the fear of the unknown and seeing how it really affected people. I'm just petrified!

My vitamins have been doing all sorts to me these past few weeks. I took them 6 months before we started trying and it never affected me, until now 😂 hormones, hey!

lenalove · 02/09/2023 22:25

@Pambeezley I feel the same as you, I am totally on edge and won't feel better for the next couple of weeks. Unfortunately I think we need to just hang in there for now and try to stay positive and distracted where possible!

Pambeezley · 02/09/2023 22:51

@lenalove it's so hard isn't it! We all want these babies so much! I spoke to my husband earlier and he has given me reassurance that if anything were to happen he'd be there 100%, I think that's my biggest fear feeling so alone. Pregnancy is such a lonely experience - I find anyway!

I just get panicky when my symptoms seem to go away for a few hours, which I know can be normal as our bodies are adapting to the hormone levels.

I think lots of self care is needed ☺️

yellowbelliedlilylivered · 03/09/2023 12:04

Hi all, hope it's okay if I join! Congratulations, everyone!

I'm approaching 6 weeks with my 1st and starting to feel pretty rotten. I'm also a teacher and back tomorrow.

Does anyone know when to hear about first appointment? I called my GP a week ago but nothing yet.

GLC789 · 03/09/2023 15:22

To all the ladies here feeling anxious - I totally get it. It's horrible isn't it.

Approaching 6 weeks here and today most of my symptoms are gone. Minus the mild cramping, and constant burping and bottom burping (tmi sorry).

On cramps - has anyone experience an outburst of quite intense cramps? I did a few nights ago, it was so intense it woke me up! But only lasted a few minutes. So say I freaked out is an understatement and I think it even developed into a mild panic attack. Which probably made it seem worse than it was! X

I'd give your GP another call, just to get some reassurance.

I'm 6 weeks by the end of this week and have an appointment for 12th

Swansea, south wales.

HopeAndChocolate · 03/09/2023 15:23

Hello! 👋 5 weeks today, NHS put EDD as 30th April but that’s based on a 28 day cycle but I have longer cycles so May 5th is more accurate. This will be our first baby, conception was very quick so feel like I haven’t had long to get my head round everything!

Have had nausea, metallic taste in mouth, fatigue and a few mood swings so far. 😅

HopeAndChocolate · 03/09/2023 15:27

@yellowbelliedlilylivered I self-referred via Pregnancy Notes as this is what my hospital uses and although it seems I’ve been assigned a midwife, not had a booking appointment through yet. I did ‘ask’ via the site when I could expect it and they said it would be before 10 weeks and someone would be in touch. I’m desperate for a date!

HopeAndChocolate · 03/09/2023 15:27

Sorry my message posted twice originally. 😅

GLC789 · 03/09/2023 15:49

@HopeAndChocolate hey!!! We're due date buddies! 💗💗💗💗💗. My first pregnancy too! X

HopeAndChocolate · 03/09/2023 15:54

Aw how nice @GLC789! 🥰 Hope you’re doing ok! Do you think you’ll book an early scan or hold out for the 12 weeks? x
