Tentatively seeing if anyone else is due then yet?

I got a positive digital this morning and based on Ovulation I'd be due 30th April and 2nd May based on LMP, but until the dating scan that could easily change a week either way based on previous babies!

Hey all, after a bit of advice/handhold today.

Had a growth scan and midwife Tues. Baby has always been in smaller side but is now under 10 percentile. So we had to wait after the scan to see consultant (that was an agonising 90 minutes).

His advice, was not something I expected at all. He basically went straight into offering inducing labour at 37 weeks (Tuesday coming!).

My placenta is fine and doing it's thing. Just baby is small (approx 5lb at 36 weeks). I didn't commit to the induction. But we go back for a scan Tues, just to check placenta still working as it should, but he said it is likely they will offer the induction again at this point.

Anyone had induced labour in previous pregnancies? How was it?

Anyone else in here going through this atm?

I'm just so torn on what to do. All the info online points to induction for overdue babies, very limited info on my specific situation

G x

Hello,

I’ve been on this trajectory from 31 week. I’m now 37 weeks and have been booked for elective C-section next week. Really want to avoid failed induction and emergency C section which can be more likely for smaller babies as may not cope with labour/induction methods.

sorry to hear your going through this too - it’s taken me a few weeks to get comfortable with my decision re c section as I was keen to birth in midwife led unit.

Baby also sitting around the 5lb mark.

@Nynm23 I am so jealous of your bravery! I wish I could be as bold. I'm just terrified of the recovery for so many different reasons. Main one mentioned, I don't want the grannies all over the gaff destroying my mental health. Secondly, I'm such an "on my feet" person. I struggle to sit for more than 15 minutes at a time, even now pregnant AF 😂😭.

I hope it all goes as you want it to!

Can't believe our little ones will all be here soon ladies!!! X

GLC789 · 04/04/2024 23:06

@HelsM2023! Well done you! I want to aim for the same but I'm open to other pain relief. My only HARD NO is any opiods (can't spell it)! I took cocodamol years ago for a sprained ankle, I was literally hearing colours and seeing sounds!!!

I’ve accepted the grannies are going to be absolute melters, none staying with me though so that’s a bonus.

I am also very happy to be horizontal and make the other half do the heavy lifting around the house. He needs to get used to it 😂

I did have a little cry in the car on way home from hospital last night as it very suddenly felt very real!

HelsM2023 · 05/04/2024 07:08

@GLC789 I agree on the opioids, I'm not having pethidine as they don't let you get in the water for 3 hours after you've taken it. I get it's supposed to relax you but I would rather not!

I'm also hoping to have a water birth this time which is supposed to help naturally with the pain.

Iamcatmum · 05/04/2024 07:50

@GLC789 sorry to hear you’re having a stressful time - no advice to offer but sending virtual hugs of support! I know the bump measurements and growth scans can be wildly off, but understand the pressure of having the ‘the experts’ telling you to do something makes you second guess everything. Try not to worry too much for now and see what happens at the next appointment I suppose

Iamcatmum · 05/04/2024 07:53

@HelsM2023 @GLC789 - currently the same re. the diamorphine, as I feel like I would react badly to it. Most people I know that had it said they were completely out of it and can’t remember anything so want to avoid that.

But I guess you really don’t know until you’re experiencing the labour - if it’s a really long labour sometimes you genuinely need it to be able to have a quick sleep 😴

HopeAndChocolate · 08/04/2024 19:56

Hope you get on as well as possible tomorrow @GLC789 - let us know how it goes. 💕

GLC789 · 08/04/2024 20:01

@HopeAndChocolate thank you so much!

We've actually been having daily monitoring since Friday for reduced movement (she's been normal again since Saturday though so all is OK).

I've also been gifted pelvic girdle pain with effect from last week. @Plumful omg hun, how the actual hell have you coped this long with it!?

Scan tomorrow should tell us more. My gut instincts are telling me this baby girl is coming before 30th though!!

How are you?

How is everyone else?

GLC789 · 09/04/2024 18:20

HopeAndChocolate · 09/04/2024 21:25

Ahh glad she’s moving ok @GLC789 - can be so scary! And eek how exciting! You feeling ok about the induction? Looks like you were right about her coming early!

I’m ok thank you, just so uncomfortable, fed up of weeing and carpal tunnel is a pain but trying to be grateful as I know some people have it so much worse! xx

barbiecharley1 · 09/04/2024 21:29

Good luck @GLC789

you've made your decision, but confident knowing you made the right choice for you and your baby!!

i feel like i would quite like my baby not to drag it on too long, im suddenly feeling very heavy and uncomfy.

i think i lost my mucus plug yesterday. so im hoping thats a sign that baby doesn't want to be in there too much longer.

Iamcatmum · 10/04/2024 07:40

@GLC789 wow so exciting to have a date now, and must feel good to have a decision. Do keep us posted how things go 🥰

@barbiecharley1 ooo mucus plug is a very good sign! Things could be super near for you too 😮

so exciting things are kicking off on the thread now!

I still feel like I’ve got loads to do in the house and things I wanted to do beforehand, so hoping to keep bab cooking in there a bit longer

HopeAndChocolate · 10/04/2024 11:04

Ooh @barbiecharley1 things are certainly moving for you! When is your EDD out of interest? And what does a mucus plug look like? 👀

Yeah I know what you mean @Iamcatmum - I’ll be 37 weeks on Sunday and I’m pretty uncomfortable already but I don’t finish work till next week and I want a bit of mat leave to myself. 😅

GLC789 · 14/04/2024 06:46

Hope everyone is OK girls!!

I'm going in today to be induced at 14:00. Nervous, excited and a little bit scared.

Can't believe baby girl is going to be here in less than a week!! Xx

Iamcatmum · 14/04/2024 08:12

@GLC789 ooo very exciting! Wishing you all the best for your labour and delivery 🥰

Can’t believe we are getting to this end stage now - I feel like it’s all gone so quickly!

barbiecharley1 · 14/04/2024 09:16

@GLC789 Go girl!!
exciting times ahead. soon you'll be with you little baby.

@HopeAndChocolate no movements of any kind since, the mucus plug (and i had to google it) i only notice when wiping during that day after my wee, it was a clear, jelly like discharge, not loads but noticeable. that was it.

GLC789 · 14/04/2024 09:25

Thank you both!

Best of luck to you too! Can't wait to hear news of little ones arriving!! Eeeeeeek xx

HopeAndChocolate · 14/04/2024 09:54

Ahhh @GLC789 big hugs, can’t wait to hear more updates! Soon you’ll be enjoying those newborn cuddles! xx

Nynm23 · 14/04/2024 10:04

Been MIA, a lot of time spent at growth clinics in the last few weeks! Baby girl born on Thursday, 5lbs 13oz by planned c section. Not the birth I had envisioned, but all went well and both doing great. Can’t believe she is real 💕 Excited for you all!

GLC789 · 14/04/2024 13:11

Huge congratulations @Nynm23! So pleased you are both doing well. 💗 How was the c-section experience? x

C section was very relaxed, we had a bit of trouble getting the spinal block due to me having a deep spine or something to that effect but other than that totally ok. Im mobile, able to do most activities just not ones that involve bending down.

Just had my long awaited HUGE rare steak, now missy sleeping on my chest. Bliss.
