Tentatively seeing if anyone else is due then yet?

I got a positive digital this morning and based on Ovulation I'd be due 30th April and 2nd May based on LMP, but until the dating scan that could easily change a week either way based on previous babies!

@Irish34 over the moon for you! So wonderful! We are going to have a NIPT too, even if we have to go private x

Irish34 · 25/10/2023 11:46

@GLC789 I am in Ireland so I had to pay for the NIPT it’s not offered here otherwise. I paid 380euro but I think it was worth it. I didn’t get it on my first and regretted it. I had the results back in 7 days aswell so it was nice a quick.

GLC789 · 25/10/2023 11:55

@Irish34 in Wales, we get it on nhs only if they detect potential issues in the 12 week screening. So once I hear back from that, it will either be through nhs or we will go private. Prices are around £400/500 here x

Plumful · 25/10/2023 20:20

Had my scan, all good. Due May 8th.

Momo88 · 25/10/2023 20:26

@GLC789 Same here in France. You only get referred to it if the public test detects anything unusual. We're getting the results of that tomorrow and doing Harmony regardless.

Plumful · 25/10/2023 20:32

What is the NIPT?

Irish34 · 25/10/2023 21:48

@GLC789 I can’t believe the price of it privately for you. My test was sent to the U.K. as we don’t have a lab over here that does the testing. I presumed it would of been cheaper for you all!

Momo88 · 25/10/2023 22:52

€360 over here 😕 @Plumful NIPT is noninvasive prenatal testing. It's a genetic blood test with very high certainty that gives you your baby's probability of having a variety of genetic conditions.

Iamcatmum · 26/10/2023 20:55

Hi everyone! Hope you’re all doing well.
I am planning on telling work in the next couple of weeks but dreading it as I know it’s going to leave the team a bit short staffed while I’m off. Anyone got any tips?

Plumful · 26/10/2023 22:11

@Iamcatmum in the nicest possible way, staffing at work - its not your problem.

Irish34 · 27/10/2023 09:51

@Iamcatmum I wouldn't worry about staffing issues while you are off. I believe most ppl in a work setting have either taken maternity, will take maternity or their wives have been on maternity at some point in their careers. This is your time and I wouldn’t be worried about the time you need to have your family. I work in a very male team and on my first if anyone made a comment to me about my time “off” I used ask how long their wives took when they had their children!

GLC789 · 27/10/2023 10:12

My blood results have come back as low risk for downs etc! Excellent news!

But, they have detected low Papp-A levels which means i will need extra scans to measure baby from 28 weeks onwards. Anyone else had this now or in previous pregnancies? They said its nothing to worry about. But naturally, I'm worried. They do this for anyone under 0.41. Mine was 0.40! So so marginally under.

Bourne90 · 27/10/2023 13:09

My bestie had low papp-a, took aspirin but otherwise all fine and normal sized baby. It's way better to have the test come up as low and have the scans and meds to help placenta implant better early than find out late or never and have a smaller baby.

My first was not quite 4lbs at 36 weeks. They forgot to do the papp-a and I didn't worry about it. Wish I had because it's literally the only cause that is left for why she was so tiny. We had more scans because she was small but cause not known, and way more stress. If they had tested and it was low and I'd had the aspirin, we'd likely have had a very different pregnancy experience and a normal sized baby at the end.

So, it's actually an awesome thing you've been flagged. Odds are you're gunna have a great pregnancy and get to see your little one growing at each growth scan (which is way better than not seeing them for 20weeks!)

Iamcatmum · 27/10/2023 13:10

@Irish34 @Plumful. thank you. I’m not worried about the staffing issue as such because I know that’s not my problem. Also I’m not really worried about how they will react - my manager is super nice so I think they will have a nice response even if inwardly panicking. Was just more feeling awkward how to approach the conversation if anything - suppose it just will be a pulling off the band aid situation! :)

That was beautifully reassuring for me! Thank you so much. Xxx

Iamcatmum · 27/10/2023 13:13

@GLC789 congrats on the genetic results - fab news :)

GLC789 · 27/10/2023 13:23

@Iamcatmum thank you xx

GLC789 · 01/11/2023 16:21

Hey all!

How is everyone?

We had out NIPT today, and results should be back in 7-10 days. We opted to find out if it's pink or blue too! Eeeeeeek! X

Nynm23 · 01/11/2023 18:20

Thats great news @GLC789

Still trucking along, still on antisickness for the AM.

16 week appointment next week, but so tempted to book another private scan seems so long between scans!

GLC789 · 01/11/2023 22:54

@Nynm23 omg I know exactly how you are feeling! My 20 week isn't until 12th December and I just wanna see my baba!

Thankfully my sickness is starting to go away! And my appetite is finally coming back. Even ate chicken yesterday and had the cheek to enjoy it lol!

Still not feeling that 'glow' but I think a long pamper night might just do the trick! X

Plumful · 02/11/2023 08:29

13 weeks and feeling much better other than back pain. Eating really well. Hope everyone is well too

Iamcatmum · 02/11/2023 08:50

@GLC789 hope all goes well with your NIPT! Exciting you’ll find out the sex too :)

@Nynm23 16 week appointment for me next week as well. I’ve already caved and booked another private scan for week 18, in case that sways you to book another too 😀

lenalove · 02/11/2023 11:37

@Nynm23 My 20 week scan isn't until December 14th, I am going to book a scan for 16 weeks as I can't possibly wait that long eeek!!

Momo88 · 02/11/2023 20:44

@GLC789 Fingers crossed! We're also waiting for the results.

Otherwise, I find second trimester a bit... boring?! 14 weeks here. Almost all symptoms are gone and no belly unless I eat too much 😂 Sometimes I freak out I don't "feel" pregnant but then remember this is meant to be the best trimester and we should try to enjoy it. Booked in for a scan at 18 weeks.

Nynm23 · 02/11/2023 21:28

Sadly I’m still managing sickness, head down the loo most of the day. The only good thing is it weirdly gives some assurance that there is plenty of hormones in my body.

Definitely feel better about consider another scan!
