I couldn't find a new thread open as the old is now full.

Got a few of the usernames to tag, definitely missed people but hopefully they find the thread :)

Does anyone suddenly feel like they've put much more weight on than normally in pregnancy?

I'm 37 weeks and suddenly my underwear feels tight. I have purposefully increased my calorie intake in the past week in hope to increase baby's birth weight but I'm wondering now whether it's just piling up on my thighs and tummy 🙈 ...

Although I wonder whether some of it is water retention too ...

Psqueak87 · 20/10/2023 03:06

@JoyApple this is my first, so can’t compare with previous, but I’ve put on 42lb (3 stone) already. Which is almost 30% of my normal body weight! Starting weight was 9 stone 7, I’m now 12 stone 7.

im pretty shocked at the amount of weight gain. But I’ve calorie counter my whole life and had to be diligent to stay in the 9 stone area, and I’ve been eating whatever I want since 14 weeks. So I shouldn’t be surprised!

underwear are tight, jeans won’t go past my thighs etc.

Thack · 20/10/2023 05:22

I am a poor eater. I have three meals a day and snacks, but when I look back over a day I realise I haven't had as much as I think.
Weight dropped off me breastfeeding last time. It's too late for me to stock up now and baby taking up space has affected my appetite.

Sweep tomorrow, induction next week. Hopefully the sweep will do the trick.

I only had gas and air on DC1 (on a relatively quick labour so not much choice anyway) and a friend of mine had the same - it does happen.
Painful but possible.

WriMum22 · 20/10/2023 06:41

@GemmaJen Congratulations my lovely, such amazing news. Hope you’re both doing well x

Well hopefully today is the day we get the c-section date. I don’t have good experiences with doctors at my hospital, so preying today goes well 🤞🏻

Last night I had pains every 5-7 mins, last 60 seconds each time for just over an hour. Had hubby timing. Kept calm considering I am only 35, almost 36 weeks. Just knew it wasn’t the real thing, but was definitely more than Braxton Hicks. Googled and discovered Prodromal labour which matched what was happening to me perfectly, basically false labour! Doesn’t mean much, but just something new I didn’t know could happen 🙈

WriMum22 · 20/10/2023 06:43

@Thack Good luck for the sweep, hope all goes well 😊

@WriMum22

Have no idea about prodromal labour thanks for sharing that. I'm hoping to get my section date today or Monday too.

Btw are people planning to tell family/in-laws about the section date? I'll have to tell my mum due to childcare but not sure about telling everyone else ...

WriMum22 · 20/10/2023 09:10

@JoyApple We have actually had that discussion this morning and decided that we will tell my Mum and Dad, who will be childcare for our sons, but we aren’t going to tell anyone else the date. We just feel it would be nicer to surprise everyone in the same way you would if it were to happen naturally. Plus it also avoids messages etc. asking how it’s going and if baby is here yet, which don’t get me wrong, is lovely, but if I’m further down the list for theatre and am waiting all day, I think it’ll irritate me receiving constant messages asking what’s happening 🙈

GreenAventurine · 20/10/2023 09:26

We will be telling my mum, dad , sister and my 14 year old son and no one else. For all the reasons mentioned above.

Going into this appointment with no expectations now - feeling a little numb tbh.

And also my oh heard me do a bodily function in my sleep last night and I know I will look back on this and laugh but I actually want to cry at this moment 😢

GreenAventurine · 20/10/2023 09:27

Being pregnant is kinda humiliating. Maaan I think my hormones are getting to me today. And maybe the significance of the appointment today. But Jeez I need to get a grip.

Thack · 20/10/2023 11:16

@GreenAventurine you've got this 💪

With DC1 we didn't tell anyone they were here for 2 hours after they were born. It happened overnight but it was still nice to have that little bit of time to ourselves in the morning where it was just us three together.

WriMum22 · 20/10/2023 11:46

Well we have a section date, finally!! Booked for 14th November, just over 3 weeks to go.

Same as my section date , pre op 13th November , I'm so excited to be meeting my little boy . I hope it goes well for you xx

WriMum22 · 20/10/2023 11:49

@LeeanneD11 aw amazing, date buddies! I’m in two days before for pre-op and been given Omeprazole to take the night before, then turn up to the ward at 7am on the 14th. Feels like such a relief to finally know the date.. best wishes for us both ☺️☺️

Oo how exciting I find all that out 13th I'm so nervous but excited at the same time, yes defo we need the luck for that day , our babies will have the same bday xx

WriMum22 · 20/10/2023 11:54

@LeeanneD11 I am feeling ok at the moment as just keep thinking back to how calm and lovely my last section was, but the nerves will definitely kick in a few days before I'm due to go in. We will be fine though, not long and our babies will be here, we are almost at the finish line now

100% agree , my last section was emergency due to placenta rupture, so I'm a little nervous it will happen this time round but I'm hoping it doesn't , and hoping he stays there till 14th, when is your actual due date if you don't mind me asking mine is the 27th do you know what you having xx

WriMum22 · 20/10/2023 12:08

@LeeanneD11 My last one was emergency but it was only because my waters had broken and they found he had flipped to transverse at the last second, so it felt more like an elective than actual emergency, it was so calm. I’m sure with your history they’ll keep a close eye on you, try not to worry, it should be really nice and calm for you.

I am sue 21st November, having a section as had one last time. Had a few problems with pregnancy, but so far they are happy to keep me to 39 weeks, and continue with regular monitoring until then, they feel that’s best for baby… it’s a little girl this time after two boys ☺️

Aw how nice a little girl to add to the addition , I've got a girl & boy, it's horrible isn't it . Yeah I'm being closely monitored which is good but I get everyone telling me he won't make it to his section date , my partner thinks he will be here in 2 weeks . Yeah it will be calmer this time round as I know what to expect and be more relaxed for me xx

WriMum22 · 20/10/2023 12:21

@LeeanneD11 My husband and Mum think the same, think she won’t make the section date and to be honest, part of me is expecting that as my waters went with my son at 37 and 6, so if she follows suit it’ll be another emergency section providing she doesn’t come quickly so there’s no time.

I’m actually sat on triage as I type waiting for a doctor (in an emergency section so waiting for a while) to check my cervix following the regular pains I had last night which personally I think was false labour, but I told my consultant and as I’m only 35 weeks she wanted me examining just to be sure as I’d need steroids if anything was happening.. just bracing myself for sticking the legs in the air fgs 🙈😂.. Hoping I’m home soon, can’t imagine anything is actually happening with me so not worried, just working out whether to have a Chinese takeaway for tea or not 😂 xx

WriMum22 · 20/10/2023 12:22

@LeeanneD11 oh I haven’t even asked what your having? Xx

Oh no . Hopes it's not labour and it's false labour , glad your getting it checked over . Its scary isn't it not knowing when it's going to happen , I'm glad it's half term now I can relax before his here . Chinese all the way lol 😂 saves cooking , hopefully you're not in triage for long as the wait is ridiculous and the boredom . Keep me posted xx

I'm having another little boy xx

PinkPlantCase · 20/10/2023 13:07

@WriMum22 when I read about your Prodromal labour pains earlier today I wondered if this was your third baby! From what I’ve read it really does seem to be a third baby thing and can go in for weeks. Sorry that might not be much comfort but hopefully it does mean that your little one will stay in there!

Hope your checks go okay x

WriMum22 · 20/10/2023 13:26

@PinkPlantCase Hey, yes all ok thanks, cervix closed, think consultant wanted to just be safe as I’d need steroids due to gestation. She did gently scold me for not calling last night when it happened but it’s like I said to my husband last night, after two babies, I know what actual labour pain is like so I wasn’t overly worried, but is nice to have it confirmed all ok I guess. Just about to leave the hospital now and wait patiently for the Chinese takeaway to open haha x

MamaMeggie · 20/10/2023 14:05

Just found this thread, due to have my first in a few weeks (almost 37 with little girl) and it’s nice to see lots of people around the same time because all I’ve see on Instagram are October due dates!
Very exciting but the anticipation and unknown are a lot to deal with! Still working and feel fine, colleagues are convinced she’ll come early!
