DollyGx · 19/10/2023 06:30

@GemmaJen what fab news to wake up to - congratulations!! So glad to hear it went well, rest up and enjoy the bubble ❤️

Mldn · 19/10/2023 09:06

Such gorgeous news! Congrats @GemmaJen
I’m 38 weeks today & super emotional seeing baby announcements knowing that mine could be anytime from now! He’s been engaged for a few weeks now too.
But so far, I feel good a few niggles but nothing too obvious or painful just yet. Emotions are high & I’m so tired but that’s all - what a rollercoaster pregnancy is 🤍

Bookworm12345 · 19/10/2023 10:29

Huge congratulations @GemmaJen!! Glad it all went well for you, beautiful baby and name ❤️ enjoy these precious first moments and hope you avoid the c-section tummy discomforts. Hope you get to go home soon too.

Oreopie · 19/10/2023 10:32

Just wondering if I can join. I'm actually due on Halloween and following the October babies group but thought it might be good to join onto this one just incase I go over... Hi all and congratulations to anyone that may have already had their little ones 🩷🩵

Shaker21 · 19/10/2023 14:57

Congratulations @GemmaJen, hope you are both doing well and recovering ok so far! Congratulations too all the other babies born so far also!

Welcome @xLMCx 😊

My PGP has ramped up in my groin area the past few days and has been really bad getting up stairs and turning over in bed 😩I am starting to get very miserable because of it. I could have cried this morning at work. Luckily I have my last day at work on Tuesday next week and really hoping resting up a bit and having some time to go bob around the swimming pool might help a bit rather than doing the long days at work. I am 35 weeks tomorrow and want him to be cooking as long as he needs but also want him to come so I can not be in pain anymore. My midwife said on Monday that she couldn't even feel his head from him being so low down in my pelvis now. He has been head down in my pelvis since maybe 30 weeks or even earlier but seems to have moved down even more so since my midwife last checked at 32 week appointment.

How is everyone else feeling?

@Shaker21 im 38 weeks in 2 days and baby still so high up in my ribs. She’s been head down for a while, but still so high. The pain is becoming unbearable on the ribs and back. I assume she’s just pushing them outward.
just driving home from a midnight shift wondering why the hell im still here, lol. Although countdown is on and I only have 4 shifts total left.

doing all the old wives take to get the baby to come now, did a pedicure, and went to accupuncture yesterday. But neither have worked so far. Will be doing accupuncture now until baby comes.

DollyGx · 19/10/2023 15:51

@Psqueak87 I’ve got acupuncture booked for next week too! Had it at the beginning of my pregnancy also. Will be interesting to see if it helps! I’m slightly behind you and will be 37 weeks tomorrow.

Shaker21 · 19/10/2023 16:07

@Psqueak87 OMG you've done well being at work till so late! I moved mine forward a week lol Yeah I had really bad right rib pain for a few weeks and then all of a sudden it went so assuming that was from him being high up and then all of a sudden moving down into my pelvis. I still get the random rib pain every now and then which I am assuming is just his foot pushing up randomly still sometimes. I hope she moves down soon for you!

UnwieldyRhombus · 19/10/2023 16:10

@Shaker21 PGP is so awful, isn't it?! I have the really bad groin pain too, to the extent that I want to massage it to relieve the pain but I can't really do that in public! Not long now, and it'll either go away right away or get a lot better once the baby is here.

I'm quite zen. Ish! But I'm content to go another few weeks. I have 2 weeks and 2 days until I'm due, but I went 14 days overdue with my first so in my mind it's 'a month or less' rather than 'two weeks'. I want to read up on labour a bit more before the baby comes anyway. I've had no time between work, looking after my daughter, and feeling so exhausted. I'm excited but nervous. I know I can cope with the first stage but I had to get an epidural and have forceps for the second, so I technically did push but I felt almost nothing. I'm a bit nervous about trying to do the pushing with just gas and air, but that's what I'm aiming for! It feels really weird to know what to expect for the first bit but be so in the dark about the rest!

UnwieldyRhombus · 19/10/2023 16:14

And congratulations @GemmaJen !

CliniMama · 19/10/2023 16:33

Congratulations @GemmaJen!!! Lovely name! ❤️

@Shaker21 my PGP seems to be a tad better. The hospital physio told me basically not to do some of the things I’d been doing (i.e. breast stroke) and to clench my buttocks whilst doing certain things. I’m wearing my support belt more too. Not long now…

Psqueak87 · 19/10/2023 16:56

@DollyGx I did accupuncture before pregnancy as a last ditch attempt to get pregnant before having to go for IVF, and it worked, after 8 years of trying! So I very much believe in it. I’ll be going weekly now. Desperate not to go over as he will induce me at 41 weeks and I’ve a feeling it’ll probably get to that.

@Shaker21 thank you! I hope so, every morning when I stand I think “did she drop in the night?” But she keeps stayin high! My OB said she mightn’t move down till I’m in labour! I’m just home from my midnight shift, it’s 10am and I have to leave again to go back to work at 1pm! So I’m off to try and get some sleep. It’s very tempting to call them and tell them I’m done but the next two days are pure overtime hours which are paid at double, so I’m just trying to suck it up!

@UnwieldyRhombus I’m hoping for just gas and air too, but it’s my first so I also have no concept of how awfully painful it’s going to be!

PinkPlantCase · 19/10/2023 18:03

@Psqueak87 surely you can decline the induction at 41 weeks if you don’t want it?

I think the research says that 50% of women pregnant with their first baby will go into labour spontaneously by 40+5 so going beyond that really isn’t unusual!

DollyGx · 19/10/2023 19:35

@Psqueak87 wow that’s amazing after 8 years! I also done about a month of acupuncture before getting pregnant after a miscarriage last year and 6 months of trying. Started the acupuncture in the January and got pregnant in the feb, so I agree, I think it must do something!

Oreopie · 19/10/2023 19:52

Another October baby here... went for a growth scan today and they said his growth has dropped quite significantly, so they have booked me in for an induction tomorrow xx

GreenAventurine · 19/10/2023 20:06

Good luck @Oreopie ! These babies are well and truly coming now.

My liver bloods tests are raising again with no room for more medication so I’ve no idea what my consultant will say tomorrow. He said that tomorrow is the day I’ll get my section date, but given that my bloods are rising, I don’t know if it’ll be week 36 or week 39. I think I’ll be disappointed if no date is given, but have a feeling I’ll be really overwhelmed with an actual date. How did everyone feel once they knew a date?
Back to work then for my last afternoon before maternity starts.

JD90 · 19/10/2023 20:35

@Oreopie how many weeks are you? Good luck!

Nonchalant92 · 19/10/2023 22:04

Hi all. Hoping I can join, I am due 23rd Nov with DC2. My DC1 turns 1 in 6 days, they were planned to be very close and we are very lucky indeed. Hope everyones pregnancy journeys go safe and smoothly. x

Oreopie · 19/10/2023 22:21

@JD90 I am 37+3 so they said that given he is full term it's the safest thing for him! Very nervous as it's my first baby. Hoping for a positive induction!

Crazybrowncow · 19/10/2023 22:41

Good luck @Oreopie & @GreenAventurine for your date. I was really excited when I found out. Like you (not to the same severity) I had a string of negative appointments where stuff popped up that I wasn't expecting; GD, Polyhydramnios and having a bleed at 26wks - thinking it was going to be pre-term, so to know the date, felt really progressive and exciting. I suddenly feel huge & exhausted! Last day of work today.

Having my hair done tomorrow- has anyone dyed their hair In pregnancy. I haven't, but I really want balayage tomorrow - but worried I shouldn't...

Oreopie · 19/10/2023 23:00

@Crazybrowncow I have bleached my hair throughout pregnancy (and before). Have you had a patch test? Hairdresser has told me that pregnancy can make you more susceptible to allergies and that's where the concern comes from. And also hormonal changes can change the way your hair takes to the dye if that makes sense

Psqueak87 · 19/10/2023 23:13

@PinkPlantCase yes I can decline the induction if I want to. I’m just not sure which option I want less: to be induced, or to go over 41 weeks, both sound bloody awful. Baby is so high and I’m in so much pain. I also read 40+5 average so I’m hoping so much that happens. I really don’t want to do the epidural, and I’ve heard induction contractions are more painful, which is why I really hope not to get one.

@DollyGx oh I’m so glad it worked for you too! I was literally scheduled to start IVF one week after I found out I was pregnant. We had 3 failed IUI’s first. I always thought it was a load of airy fairy nonsense till I tried it!!

@Crazybrowncow yes I’ve done a couple of home box dyes since I found out I was pregnant. OB gave me the go ahead, just said make sure a window is open, more so for me not to feel faint or anything!
