I couldn't find a new thread open as the old is now full.

Got a few of the usernames to tag, definitely missed people but hopefully they find the thread :)

Thanks @Sb86 , sat in delivery suite waiting our turn, we were first on the list but my bloods from Monday need re-doing, so twiddling our thumbs waiting it out. I'm staring at the bag of wotsits I packed, I'm so hungry! And the tea lady keeps offering my husband biscuits, it just feels so unfair! Hopefully we'll be in theatre before lunchtime.

@Sb86 a longer stay seems daunting, do you have a plan if something happens before 39 weeks?

We're still working on a middle name, it feels like such a commitment! Not sure whether to go Alexander or Elias, we keep going back and forth 🙈

Hope everyone is having a good Wednesday x

How exciting! I wonder if baby is here now 😀

Thack · 18/10/2023 12:30

Hope you're settled with baby and wotsits soon @GemmaJen !

I decided to move my induction back a few days to see if I labour naturally. Getting assessed again at the end of this week, I'm very torn as the doctors have given mixed vibes. I think it's the right decision for now, though I am keeping a very close watch on movements.

Sb86 · 18/10/2023 13:21

Hey @GemmaJen hopefully you've gone down now...I've only read your response to me as yet 🙈 how inconsiderate of them to be passing food under your nose 😫 I'd hate that!

Plan is to get me to the hospital where the baby will have the op ASAP. I don't want to go to my nearest as I won't be transferred with baby so won't get a bed 😔 it's not too far away anyway do shouldn't be an issue if I do go into spontaneous labour.

I bet the middle name will come easily once baby is here, something will just click I'm sure xx

GemmaJen · 18/10/2023 13:49

Sadly no wotsits yet, a few emergency cases this morning so we're now first on the list for this afternoon. We've just smuggled in a watery hot chocolate, I feel like a right rebel 😂, I know the anesthesiologist would not approve, but I feel so much better now for that small bit of sugar! I've now met a different surgeon and it should only be another half hour 🤞

I hope you've all had a lovely lunch, I'm living vicariously thorough you 😂

JD90 · 18/10/2023 14:00

Well that wasn't quite as positive an appointment as I had originally hoped it would be, babies growth (after picking up a bit last time 2 weeks ago from 9th to 13th) has now dropped down to 3rd. Fluid is now within 'normal' range though, but placental doppler is borderline now so right on the edge. Back again next Wednesday and they have documented if no improvement in growth in a week delivery is recommended. I was meant to be working until next Tuesday, granted only a couple of days. When I text my boss to Tell her and ask if I could use some of my leave for next Monday and Tuesday she just messaged back that I am absolutely not working and to go home and she will sort it all out. So I'm just wrapping up a few things and I'll be headed out... not quite what I had planned for 34+4... 🤦🏻‍♀️

Hope you get taken down soon @GemmaJen

WriMum22 · 18/10/2023 14:06

LilmissCa · 18/10/2023 15:35

@GemmaJen hope all is going well 💙

Had midwives this AM baby is OP / back to back .. explains why I felt like I have a broken tailbone ! Hopefully he or she moves !
Also head is just starting to engage 4/5 so first little bit.
Still 35wks so bit to go!

Thanks for the snack recommendations ill definitely be going choc & non healthy!!

GemmaJen · 18/10/2023 21:07

Hawthorne Elias born at 14:20, so much for being first on the list today! But definitely worth the wait, and looks to be another red head too. No complications, feeding like a champ and had skin to skin for most of the evening so far. 8lb 5oz, so much for being a small baby (my daughter was 9lb10oz) he's so long he's gone straight into 0-3, disappointingly all our up to 1 month clothing is too small. Definitely pack all the sizes, as you never know. And pack all the snacks too, wotsits never tasted so good! Of setting my terrible snack choices with green smoothies and chia seeds 😂 hoping I can skip the c section digestive troubles 🤞

@JD90 that sounds stressful, do they have any idea why growth would be slow?

JD90 · 18/10/2023 21:21

@GemmaJen Congratulations! So so adorable, hope you have a short stay and can get gome soon!
mint tea, peppermint capsules and mint chewing gum! Those have been an absolute saviour after multiple abdominal surgeries I've had over the years and I always recommend to patients who are struggling post op!

As for the why, they don't really know, consultant suspects placental insufficiency but most of the time they don't know why. I think the plan is to send the placenta off to pathology after birth to have it examined/tested to see if they can figure anything out from that. Consultant was a bit shocked they didn't do that with my first as she was small, though made it to due date and not as small as this one. But that was 14 years ago so might not have been something they regularly did then 🤷🏻‍♀️ just have to wait and see now. I've got the next week to try and make sure we have what we need and are somewhat organised at home so I will just try and keep myself occupied until the next appointment.

GreenAventurine · 18/10/2023 21:55

@GemmaJen how adorable! Congratulations! So glad it all went well

Sb86 · 18/10/2023 22:02

Eeeeek congratulations @GemmaJen 🥰 he's here...it's our turns finally 😊❤️

Love his name, very unique but lovely, does your daughter have a similar type of name?

Sounds like a pleasant experience all in all, let's hope your recovery is just as good xx

foodislife1 · 18/10/2023 22:04

@GemmaJen congrats!!

LilmissCa · 18/10/2023 22:09

@GemmaJen massive congrats! Gorgeous name, hope recovery is easy for you ❤️

GemmaJen · 18/10/2023 23:18

@Sb86 my daughter is a Rosaline, so we've a Rosa and a Thorne now, not intentional but we just loved the name Hawthorne, it just felt right.

Lots of November babies arriving shortly I'm sure, though hopefully not too soon, safe deliveries for all 🤞, we're 38 weeks today, due Nov 1st, this last week has felt so hard, I'm glad my insomnia now has a voice rather than the staring at the ceiling in discomfort kind 😂

Psqueak87 · 18/10/2023 23:55

yayyy @GemmaJen congrats! And so glad you could finally have those wotsits! Hope you recover quickly! And I absolutely love the name choice ❤️❤️

JoyApple · 19/10/2023 00:22

Congrats @GemmaJen ❤️ hope you have a good and speedy recovery. If you have the energy, keep us updated on how it goes. A number of us are down for c-sections!

Alloveragain3 · 19/10/2023 00:38

Huge congratulations @GemmaJen Soak up all those lovely cuddles.

Thack · 19/10/2023 03:01

Congrats @GemmaJen such a lovely update! He's a wonderful size, glad to hear he's feeding well too.
Are you still on the post birth high?
I found it so weird with DC1, I could not sit still (not a c section)!

Katiec1 · 19/10/2023 03:06

@GemmaJen huge congrats to you! Hope you are both doing ok. Love the name 😍 speedy recovery to you too x

reememberly · 19/10/2023 03:54
