@WriMum22 in my experience (two past pregnancies) that’s never been a sign of labour for me. I have had pains similar to that though in this pregnancy and it’s just been down to stretching etc… best thing to do though if you’re ever in doubt or worried is to contact your maternity ward. They will pop you on the monitoring machine and it’ll pick up if your contracting

Ayzal · 14/09/2023 16:47

thankyou for the reply. And yeah I did call they said drink lots of water and eat 2 paracetamol and then see if it goes away. i felt 3 times yesterday each time it stayed for 2 minutes and came around 45 minutes gap. Its my first time so really confused what it could be. I also feel lots of pressure down there which I believe must be due to baby head that is 4/5 engaged as mid wife told me -few days back. I called again today triage they said it could be false labour pain but i don't understand as it was too severe and came sudden. It was too severe that It was really hard to breathe during the pain . Today again im feeling little pain in my back mostly located on right side and with some discomfort in my belly . Babys movement are fine though .

Due to the constant stretching and moving of your belly it will be harder for it to heal. For burns you want to make sure you arent dry dressing them by using plasters or simple gauze. A hydrocolloid dressing is usually best bet for a low grade burn. :) Hope it heals up quickly for you, and keep an eye out of all the normal signs of infections

Ayzal · 14/09/2023 22:24

Same happened to me im 38 weeks , i dint use any thing was heal automatically quickly

I’m still in, but managed to hold off delivery. Hopefully will be home on Monday for a few weeks. My November baby won’t be a November baby!

Spareincoming · 17/09/2023 18:38

Hi folks, I got home late this afternoon; despite being told I’d be out on Friday; Saturday morning at the latest.
Looks like Baby will definitely be here in October; not November, just when in October is the great unknown!
I am very tired now, the ward was so noisy. And I have paid a massive parking charge as I took myself in and no-one else can drive my car!

PinkPlantCase · 17/09/2023 18:53

Great news @Spareincoming ! Have a good rest tonight x

Glad you’re home @Spareincoming . October babies it is!

I suppose those of you due early November could have October babies too!

Spareincoming · 17/09/2023 19:30

@GreenAventurinee I’m just hoping to avoid Halloween as I enjoy it too much to want to share it with a DC! Not that I think I’ll get that far on in the month!
Hope you’re out tomorrow!

reememberly · 17/09/2023 19:56

Great news @Spareincoming and hope you’re home soon too @GreenAventurinee - good that both babies are holding in there a bit longer. I’m booked for a section week beginning 30th Oct, so maybe a Halloween pumpkin for me, I wouldn’t mind though - would make for easy birthday parties 😂. Will get exact date through the post in a couple of weeks.

Does anyone have a tips for itchy ness , I'm suffering so badly I have been for a few weeks , it's just started on my foot and had s burning sensation feeling with it it's so intense it's affecting me so much , midwife took bloods and my bile acid is 4.2 was 4.5 before but I don't understand it tbh , as my badger notes never update the useless app, should I be looking out for signs or symptoms for OC or preeclampsia? Never had this in my last pregnancy and can't put up with this any longer the itchy ness xx

WriMum22 · 18/09/2023 05:51

@LeeanneD11 I was struggling with itchiness really badly, it was making me so uncomfortable all the time. I had my bloods taken and all was ok but the midwife did say to me, if the itchiness gets worse, to let her know because they will take my bloods again in two weeks time as apparently with OC the itchiness comes before everything starts to rise. I know yours has gone down slightly but maybe ask for another re-check. I think with pre-eclampsia your blood pressure would rise too and you’d have ketones in your urine. They should pick those signs up at your midwife apps. If something doesn’t feel right I’d get checked out, I think that’s probably the best thing to do or to look out for. You know your body.

@GreenAventurinee @Spareincoming glad your both ok and home. Two little October babies, how lovely. Definitely with you on Halloween, I love that time of year, so not sure if I’d want to plan a Halloween and a Birthday party. Doubt my little lady would want a spooktacular birthday when she’s into princesses haha

I've woken up feeling weak today , and bad period cramps , still itchy tho . I don't feel great at all and I'm 30 weeks . Xx

WriMum22 · 18/09/2023 07:17

@LeeanneD11 call your maternity ward and get checked out. I’m actually in mine now as I type. Been getting cramps for a few days and watery discharge so being checked for pre-term labour. I feel so silly but they’ve been lovely with me and said we can’t take risks with something as precious as a baby.

I've also been suffering with pressure & backache too when I last spoke to they didn't want to see me as baby was moving ok, but I'll give them a call this morning hope your ok xx

Katiec1 · 18/09/2023 08:35

Morning ladies, hope everyone is doing well as can be! @Spareincoming @GreenAventurinee glad to see you’re both doing ok too!

Just popping on to ask a quick question? Has anyone used a TENS machine in a previous labour? Thinking of purchasing one for this time round, hoping for a successful VBAC so will be using less pain relief during labour than before. Just want to know if you found them any good, also any recommendations of any particular brands?

Also had my first ever experience of braxton hicks last night, they woke me up 11.15, whole experience lasted about 15 mins. Is there anything we can do to help settle them or do we just let them run it’s course and go with them?

As always TIA x

TMI2000 · 18/09/2023 08:42

Morning everyone, 31 weeks today and the countdown is definitely on now that I am into single figures!

Last night when I was trying to go to sleep, for like an hour I was getting tingling in my fingertips and they were going numb - the tingling felt a bit like pins and needles. Is this normal? I don't want to call anyone if it's of no concern but I googled it and I got all the worries from there! 😂

Ayzal · 18/09/2023 08:54

This is totally normal.

Mummypig23 · 18/09/2023 08:55

@Katiec1 yes, I used a TENS machine last time around until I was about 5/6 cm when it became annoying. I thought it was really good up until then. You can hire them and have them posted to you cheaper than buying them which is what I did last time but borrowing one of a family member this time around.

Mummypig23 · 18/09/2023 09:00

For those that were asking about covid vaccinations previously, looks like NHS has opened up the booking for autumn boosters online.

PinkPlantCase · 18/09/2023 09:11

@Katiec1 I hired a tens machine, I’d used one before for chronic pain. I probably didn’t need to hire a specific maternity one. Tbh it was pretty much the same as the ones you can get in a pharmacy for £20 just the pads are bigger and it says maternity on it.

It was useful. I don’t think I used the boost button and I knew how the controls worked so just had it at a setting that was good for all the time.

I forgot I was wearing it and it almost ended up in the pool 😂

GreenAventurinee · 18/09/2023 10:51

Ladies, please get your itching looked at again. Ive been in hospital due to OC and they wanted to transfer me to Manchester last week to deliver my girl (I’m in south wales). For most women it’s not a serious complication, and granted mine is a terrible case (worst the hospital had seen, said the same in my first pregnancy but this baby has doubled my numbers), but I wouldn’t feel comfortable not pushing you to get checked out again.

Hope this isn’t scaremongering and with monitoring it should be a breeze. But push to get more bloods done if there are symptoms. x

GreenAventurinee · 18/09/2023 10:54

And just an update on me. I’m still in hospital. Feeling very down this morning. I have my own room which is nice but it’s beginning to feel like a jail cell. I’ve opened the door so I can see all the little newborns though. That’s cheering me up a little.
