I couldn't find a new thread open as the old is now full.

Got a few of the usernames to tag, definitely missed people but hopefully they find the thread :)

Ladies, please get your itching looked at again. Ive been in hospital due to OC and they wanted to transfer me to Manchester last week to deliver my girl (I’m in south wales). For most women it’s not a serious complication, and granted mine is a terrible case (worst the hospital had seen, said the same in my first pregnancy but this baby has doubled my numbers), but I wouldn’t feel comfortable not pushing you to get checked out again.

Hope this isn’t scaremongering and with monitoring it should be a breeze. But push to get more bloods done if there are symptoms. x

Hi hope your well, what was your symptoms for OC xx

LeeanneD11 · 18/09/2023 11:11

Is it normal to feel so weak at 30 weeks! I have no motivation the cramps have settled , baby is moving well, but even when I have sugar in me I still feel weak xx

GreenAventurinee · 18/09/2023 11:25

My symptoms with my first pregnancy was very itchy hands and feet mostly at night, extremely yellow (brown) wee and feeling very weak and lethargic. Didn’t feel ill as such, just put it down to pregnancy. Bloods should be below 33, mine were 850.

Scarily, this time I had no symptoms other than darker wee. Bloods were over 1500 this time. Only picked up as I had ‘anxiety’ over previous pregnancy. It’s a miracle I didn’t have liver failure.

Like I said, mine are extreme, extreme cases. And I’m hoping like my first pregnancy I can hold off delivery till 35 weeks now.
My sister had a baby boy last year and suffered the same condition and just had weekly bloods and had her baby at 37 weeks, as have other women in my family, so even if you did have it it’s most likely fine. But push for more bloods! x

Sorry you're feeling so ill. If I remember right we're only a couple days apart and I don't feel weak. It's quite possible you have caught something/low bp/anaemic or other deficiency. I'd call up to get checked and ask for bloods.

LeeanneD11 · 18/09/2023 11:29

@FlyingHighFlyingLow
I'm 30 weeks today , I'm going to call my maternity unit I feel weak , headache , didn't even wanna do school run xx

PinkPlantCase · 18/09/2023 12:11

I finally have an appointment for my Whooping Cough vaccine, I’ve literally been trying since the end of July to arrange it with my GP.

It’s recommended to have it before 32 weeks and I’m 31 weeks today so just in time!

Thack · 18/09/2023 12:56

@GreenAventurinee that is extreme! I hope it settles well enough for you to stay closer to home at least. How are you feeling in yourself with it?

@Katiec1 I found the first few braxton hicks painful (both pregnancies), they took my breath away! They have now eased. Getting them several times a day. Sometimes by belly is hard and I don't notice but for touching it. Other times it feels tight.

I am sure I had a contraction last night. Lasted over five minutes, very intense. Luckily it was a one off so MW isn't concerned. Given me drive to finish getting prepared though!

I'm one day behind you. Def get checked. I did have a day like that last week, but that was after my glucose tolerance test!

WriMum22 · 18/09/2023 13:59

@LeeanneD11 definitely get checked out. I’m finally home after being in the hospital since 6am this morning. They gave me a full check and saw the consultant and all is well with me and a baby, but it’s good to know that other than wondering. I’d honestly push them to re-test your bloods for OC. When I was tested I was told if my itching didn’t get better to let them know as your bloods can take some time to rise so even if they are ok one week, within a couple more weeks they could be sky high! With what you’re feeling and the fact you still have the itching, it sounds like you need another test. Luckily my itching subsided so I think my was definitely just hormones

WriMum22 · 18/09/2023 15:16

@Thack I’ve been having contraction type pains, that’s what led me to going to hospital this morning. Luckily all the tests came back negative for pre-term labour, but it gave me a realisation that at 31 weeks, I really need to start getting prepared now. So much so that as I was laid waiting for the consultant, I went online and bought her bedroom furniture and bits to decorate her room 🙈.. when we got back, I made hubby get the paintbrush out to start touching up the paintwork 😂

Psqueak87 · 18/09/2023 15:16

@TMI2000 I think it’s completely normal to get the tingling, I’ve been getting pins and needles in my hands and feet really often.

@Katiec1 this will be my first baby but I plan on taking my husbands tens machine with me. He uses it on body aches and pains, and says it works well. He bought his on Amazon super cheap.

LeeanneD11 · 18/09/2023 15:48

I'm on my way to triage I'll keep everyone updated xx

Spareincoming · 18/09/2023 17:34

@GreenAventurinee Any sign of you escaping yet?
I’m back for tests tomorrow; consultants secretary rang earlier, told me to bring a bag just in case. Deep joy.

PinkPlantCase · 18/09/2023 19:29

Hope you’ve got on okay @LeeanneD11

Still here, on monitor , taken my bloods to check for any infection markers and iron xx

LeeanneD11 · 18/09/2023 20:16

So I've asked them to check baby position as midwife wouldn't do it last time I see her , the pain I'm experiencing like the pressure in the lower abdomen & back is cause baby is head down and back to back, ouch! They think I've have a urine infection and low iron too but want to rule out anything else I'm just now waiting For doctor as I'm more concerned about the itching and feeling weak , so hopefully I wont be here much longer , I was put on the monitor and had loads of tightenings and baby heart rate was going up to 160 then dropping down to 123 and then went back up again . I'll keep you posted again when I know more xx

Thack · 18/09/2023 20:31

Hello everyone , I am having pain on one side of my back it was too severe came suddenly stayed for 2-3 minutes and kept coming with the gap of 45 minutes. And it came 3-4 times with the gap of 45 minutes. What sort of pain it could be? Called triage they said take paracetamol. I am wondering is it labour pain? Sorry its my first time any help will be highly appreciated. I am 39 weeks pregnant. I have heard labour pain keeps moving from back to front lower abdomen it doesnt stay at one place .

PinkPlantCase · 19/09/2023 06:27

@Ayzal labour pain feels different for everyone. It sounds like you body is having some contractions to get baby into the best position for birth and generally just working things out. It definitely isn’t unusual at 39 weeks! It could be early labour. There’s something called Prodromal Labour, some women can have contractions on and off for a while before labour really starts. Women with a longer prodromal labour generally go on to have faster births because their bodies have already done a lot of the manoeuvring.

This is a pretty useful article. I like the part about carrying on with life and ignoring contractions until you can’t ignore them anymore. Obviously this is advice for someone who’s baby is at term, not for most of the women on this thread are around 30-34 weeks.

Prodromal Labor: A Survival Guide — Emily Landry Birth Services

Does this story sound familiar?  You go to your childbirth education classes, and hear that labor usually lasts 12-24 hours for a first birth. "Ok," you think. "I can handle that." A few weeks later, you begin to feel steady contractions, and ha...

LeeanneD11 · 19/09/2023 10:22

Update everyone , turns out my iron was very low and urine infection at same , I'm now on medication but today I woke up feeling worse than I did yesterday, I couldn't even walk to school run cause I was in so much pain , however my cervix is still soft and closed . But I keep getting intense tightenings , I had 2 in the space of 5 mins and then stopped . Is there's a difference between Braxton hicks & actual contraction, does anyone have a website I can look at please xx

WriMum22 · 19/09/2023 13:41

@LeeanneD11 Registrar told me yesterday at triage that if your cervix is closed then any tightenings you’re having will be braxton hicks. They checked me for pre-term labour because of the tightenings so the fact my cervix was closed, they were happy it wasn’t labour and just BH. I’m 31 weeks and I’m getting the tightenings quite often. I don’t ever remember having BH with my two sons so this is a first for me. I just feel like my body is definitely getting ready for giving birth, which at this point of our pregnancies I think i/ probably pretty normal. We are later stages now which is both exciting and nerve wracking.

GreenAventurinee · 19/09/2023 13:44

I think bh are uncomfortable but not at all painful and they are random?

I’ve definitely been getting more of those this last week, could see them on the monitor.

TMI2000 · 19/09/2023 13:45

I've definitely started getting more BH over the last week or so but sometimes don't even notice until I feel how tight my stomach is 😁
