Thank you ladies💕
I’m okay, but you know how it is when your so hormonal and really trying not to cry when someone’s being a dick!
Glad you’re okay, ugh yes know exactly what you mean. Good for you for going to hr, hopefully they’ll be all over it as it opens them up to a legal minefield if that behaviour continues!!

@Meeting It’s normal for your bump to be bigger in the evening because of bloating. They say your true bump is the one first thing in the morning.

IVF ladies (or anyone taking progesterone) HELP!!

I stopped taking progesterone (1200mg per day) this week - the last day was Wednesday.
on Thursday I had a lot of dizziness abs then yesterday afternoon I started getting brown discharge with some dull cramps (felt like period pain) 😵‍💫
has anyone else had this? I’m freaking out!! Messaged clinic and midwife but nobody has got back to me yet 🫣

Hankthehonk · 19/08/2023 11:48

I've just had screening results back (on badger app, haven't had a letter yet) and I'm lower chance for downs, edwards and Patau but my PAPP-A levels are low at 0.34. The note in my app says I will be offered extra scans to monitor baby's growth.
Looking online it seems common for people to be prescribed aspirin for this too, should I call my midwife and ask about this? Would love to hear if others are also dealing with low PAPP-A.
I'm 5ft10 and husband is 6ft2, our daughter was 8lb5 when she was born, so it seems unlikely we'd naturally have a smaller baby. I gather low PAPP-A doesn't guarantee a smaller baby it just means they need to keep a closer eye on things.

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 19/08/2023 11:58

@Hankthehonk definitely ask your midwife because you have to start the aspirin before 16 weeks. And they can be slow to tell you you need it - I was told at my 17 week appointment last time. Then they told to continue to anyway even though it's less effective after 16 weeks.

I had a 7lb baby at 37 weeks, with low Papp A. My friend had an over 9 lb baby full term with low Papp A. In my experience it was just extra scans to ensure good growth / placenta health

Silverpixieflorence · 19/08/2023 12:03

@Hankthehonk I've been told I have low Papp-a too mine is 0.29. It's worth asking if you need aspirin, they've given it to me but I had pre-eclampsia with my DD so that might have also been a factor. I've read they don't always give it for low Papp-a. My DD was 8lb4 but they didn't actually test my Papp-a levels with her. This was because they couldn't do the back of the head measurement so didn't complete the combined test, we only had the quad test and they only test your Papp-a on the combined. They also only started testing for it around 3 years ago the screening midwife told me. I found a bit of reassurance in that if they didn't test before and they didn't test for it with my DD then surely it can't be that bad otherwise everyone would be tested! Hope you are ok I was a bit shocked at first but joined a low Papp-a Facebook group where it was all positive stories which also helped xx

Goblet93 · 19/08/2023 12:06

I’ve been told to take 150mg, I think some trusts recommend it and some don’t for low Papp-a, that’s what my letter said from the consultant. Yes that’s right, it is just a marker it doesn’t mean anything right now. The extra care will be towards the end of your pregnancy to ensure the baby is following their growth curve x

Oh no @Kelb79 how worrying for you . I don’t have any experience with progesterone but didn’t want to read and run. Fingers crossed your clinic gets back soon. Maybe some of the ladies on the IVF boards will know. Do you have an EPU you could call? Try not to panic I’m sure it’s absolutely nothing to worry about xxx

Hankthehonk · 19/08/2023 12:34

@Goblet93 @Silverpixieflorence @A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 thank you all so much for your quick and reassuring replies. I'm definitely going to be proactive in calling the midwife on Monday and asking about aspirin. I'll look for that Facebook group as well.
I suppose extra scans feels like a bit of a bonus, so long as there's nothing too much to worry about. My only fear around this is it seems more common to be induced - I was induced with my daughter and it was not a good experience. Obviously if it has to happen then I'll deal with it and it may not be as bad this time but I'm definitely hoping to avoid induction if I can.

FrostedFlake · 19/08/2023 13:57

@Kelb79 oh no I’m so sorry to hear that you have some spotting as Im sure it’s extremely worrying.
I have been taking Lubion 50mu which is the double dose once a day and have stopped at 13 weeks last Thursday.
Since then I have been feeling quite achy and crampy but no spotting or unusual discharge. I wonder if you could give your IVF clinic a call to see if they can recommend anything as it would have been prescribed by them?
I have also heard that some people do have some spotting when coming off progesterone but not sure how common it is and if it’s a cause for concern but I would get it checked out if you can.

Good plan, I’ve joined the Facebook group and the amount of overwhelmingly positive stories is very reassuring. Exactly, extra scans will be a bonus and it means you’ll be fully informed of any changes - the Facebook group shows that it doesn’t affect some pregnancies at all. That’s one thing I have noticed too is the almost pushing of induction, remember that you are in charge of your own care and you have the right to say no unless there is a medical need for you or the baby. You do not need an induction because it’s convenient for others. That’s something I’m going to try and remember too because I would personally prefer a spontaneous natural labour if possible like you x

@Goblet93 @Hankthehonk @Silverpixieflorence @A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 I have been given zero advice on what I should be doing in regards to my low PAPP A. I will ask the midwife when she phones about my NIPT results this week and if she gives any further info I will let you all know.

Who knew pregnancy could cause so much anxiety. My first pregnancy was text book. This time round in waking up in the middle of the night worrying.

@Kelb79 did anyone get back to you at the clinic or the midwife? If you haven't heard, I'd probably call the EPU. It's probably nothing but you're quite far along so well worth getting checked I think

@Kelb79 I had this with my first who was via ivf, all was fine. I did have it on and off for a couple of weeks.
