@peonygirl @Hopefulx no she said she wasn’t concerned as she felt baby and said felt normal size (don’t know how they can do this through your skin lol) wasn’t offered anything else no growth scans or anything & she signed my fit to fly certificate for my holiday on Sunday, but it rattled me a bit 😅

peonygirl · 25/08/2023 14:41

@NSx I can imagine, but she wouldn't sign fit to fly if anything would be wrong. I think you can enjoy your babymoon - where are you flying to? I am usually an avid traveller but right now I cannot imagine going anywhere, unless they beam me directly to the location :)

Esl17 · 25/08/2023 16:41

@NSx yes had this and was sent for a growth scan and all was fine - I had 2 growth scans within the space of 3 weeks and on the second one measurements had dropped slightly. I was sent down to the Maternity Day Assessment Unit to discuss and the midwife there was not bothered in the slightest and said they allow for 50% difference in measurements either way as the baby can get itself into so many different positions, even the scans are inaccurate. She even described it as ‘the perfect scan’ despite measurements on a lower centile than before! All very confusing but not worried at all.

doeandfawn · 26/08/2023 10:10

Anyone got any recommendations for Hypnobirthing resources?

Sagittarius25 · 26/08/2023 10:21

@doeandfawn I'm doing the online course through positive birth company, really enjoying it and finding it informative. Got it in a bundle with the post-partum course too.

Also now 31 weeks and needing to pee ALL the time. No other UTI symptoms so don't think it's that, just a combo of trying to stay hydrated and baby's position - anyone else the same?

Chanteuse · 26/08/2023 10:57

@Sagittarius25 yes - literally ALL the time. I can’t stop peeing 😩

peonygirl · 26/08/2023 11:10

@doeandfawn I am doing the online course at my hospital, it's this one https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/hypnobirth-at-bradford-tickets-680046616737?aff=ebdsoporgprofile and honestly, they never check if you are actually from the region so I am confident you can sign up. It is a free course and the midwives are amazing.

ttcttc · 26/08/2023 11:51

@Sagittarius25 constant! I was bad before being pregnant but now it's increased and all night too!!

PeopleAreToads · 26/08/2023 12:47

@Sagittarius25 literally all the time! Wake up all the time in the night, if I sleep more than 2 hours straight I wake up in agony because I'm so desperate for the loo!

I’ve signed up. Don’t live in Bradford, but I’ve not lied about my contact details 🙂Thanks for the link

peonygirl · 27/08/2023 11:03

@ES1986 great! I'll see you online :)

doeandfawn · 27/08/2023 13:08

@peonygirl I’ve signed up too, thanks so much for the link!!

NSx · 27/08/2023 21:43

After all the hassle of getting a fit2fly cert from my midwife, nobody even asked for it in the airport 😂😂 Sod’s Law - hope you all had a lovely wkend x

Esl17 · 28/08/2023 13:20

@NSx same thing happened to me and I spent £30 on mine! Nothing asked either end - feel like it would be Sod’s Law if we didn’t have it we’d have been asked though!

OrionNebula · 28/08/2023 14:36

Anyone else got a breech baby at the moment? She's been breech on last 2 scans and was just in with GP, she felt bump and thinks she's still breech but couldn't be sure... she said they can try and turn the baby if still breech at 36 weeks, anyone had any experience of this?

NSx · 28/08/2023 15:11

@Esl17 that’s true tbh. It would be my luck if I turned up and they asked for it and I couldn’t produce it 😂😂😂😂

Chanteuse · 28/08/2023 15:13

@OrionNebula not me personally, but funnily enough I was chatting to my friend about this on Saturday. Her baby was breech and she had the procedure to turn him - she said it’s super painful. Ultimately it didn’t work for her and she ended up with a C-section.

OP posts:
OrionNebula · 28/08/2023 15:22

@Chanteuse 🙁 really hope she turns of her own accord! If they offer the procedure to try and turn I will ask what the success rates are. If they're really low I'll say just go for the section. I don't want a really painful procedure if it's not likely to achieve anything.

FirstTimeMamaAtHalloween · 28/08/2023 15:57

@OrionNebula meeee my little one just hasn’t ever wanted to go the right way-I’m just over 33 weeks now and starting to get my brain around c sections a bit in preparation (honestly at this point I’m assuming natural birth just isn’t going to happen)

OrionNebula · 28/08/2023 16:17

@FirstTimeMamaAtHalloween me too, trying to mentally prepare myself for c section now.

Out of interest, do you know if you are having a boy or girl? I was reading earlier that girls are more likely to be breech, no idea why that would be the case!

LaVitesse2022 · 28/08/2023 16:22

@OrionNebula I don't have experience but a mum in my antenatal club had that and she also said it was quite painful and didn't work, in the end had to schedule a c-section. But the NHS website says the success rate of trying to turn a breech baby manually is 50%, so not a bad rate. Depends how bad you want to avoid a ceaserean I suppose...

FirstTimeMamaAtHalloween · 28/08/2023 16:27

@OrionNebula no idea at all, we’re waiting to find out till delivery day, what about you? Haven’t heard that RE breech babies myself but there’s a bit of science behind anterior placenta babies being more likely to be female (70% chance) - saying that only one study has been done so not nearly enough evidence yet

OrionNebula · 28/08/2023 16:36

@FirstTimeMamaAtHalloween we're having a little girl. Yes it was only one study I saw but it said the evidence was 'significant'. Still, just one study!

@LaVitesse2022 I am pretty keen to avoid a c section but also pretty keen to avoid unnecessary pain 😂 I guess I will wait and see what they say at my next appointment in 2 weeks and might do a bit of reading on the procedure in the meantime.

FirstTimeMamaAtHalloween · 28/08/2023 16:40

@OrionNebula oooh going to look into that! I totally agree RE the baby moving procedure-whilst id prefer to give birth naturally, I do feel like the thought of going through that much discomfort when it may not work is really unappealing. Going to chat to my midwife next week!

peonygirl · 28/08/2023 17:09

I don't know how far along you are already @OrionNebula and @FirstTimeMamaAtHalloween but I am 31w and my baby is all over the place. I have regular checks and we spotted him on all three locations - head down, bum down and sideways :) He really loves sideway position and I feel regular kicks on my right side of the belly. I feel he still has a lot of time to turn so unless you are around 36w I wouldn't worry yet, they are moving a lot still.
