Definitely don’t recommend Edinburgh Fringe at this point in pregnancy 🫠 been so sore all day.

NSx · 12/08/2023 19:14

@doeandfawn are you in Scotland too? 🥰 … I’m Glasgow based.
My friends asked me to go, but we fly out the day before and now I’m glad you’ve said this as I don’t feel so bad for missing out 😂😂😂

Summer022 · 12/08/2023 21:01

This back pain is unbearable. It’s kind of just above my right bum cheek into my back and just won’t let up. Anyone know of any remedies? I bought a birthing ball to sit on in the evening for my hips and back but doesn’t seem to be helping. I can’t stand for more than 10 mins without needing to sit down. Is this n

Summer022 · 12/08/2023 21:02

Oops sent too early! I meant to say is this normal in pregnancy? Will it go once the baby is born? It’s awful!!

Saturnsmoon · 13/08/2023 01:59

@Summer022 do you just have it in one side? If so it sounds like it might be sciatica (a trapped nerve) which unfortunately is not uncommon in pregnancy but really unpleasant so I feel for you. I think sciatica in pregnancy is usually down to the pressure of the baby and should therefor let up after birth. Perhaps talk to your midwife or gp and see if you can get a referral to a physio? There are exercises you can do for sciatica but imagine it might depend on where you are feeling the pain and you might also need adaptations for pregnancy.

FirstTimeMamaAtHalloween · 13/08/2023 07:39

@doeandfawn eek are you performing or visiting? Either way, knackering!

I was maid of honour at a wedding yesterday and feel completely done in now. Day at home in PJs very much needed I think

doeandfawn · 13/08/2023 09:14

@NSx yeah I’m Stirling!

@FirstTimeMamaAtHalloween just visiting but the amount of walking paired with the crowds who will just shove you was a lot to handle.

Is anyone else not sleeping well because the baby is kicking so much? He woke me up at 2.30am last night and went on a kicking spree till 6am. Then I fell asleep again till 8am only to have another kicking session till 11am. I am totally wiped out.

I'm up and down all night. Between the aching and weeing 😂

The kicking is not so bad but this morning I was laying on my side, we had a lazy morning watching tv and I must've been on a spring.. baby was kicking and my partner could feel it. Partner was laughing his head off 😂

Think baby kicking has kept me up no more than an hour or so (so far 😂) however I do find it reassuring and comforting as I know it means he's ok, so I kinda enjoy it 😂

Generally knackered from getting up for the toilet and basically waking up every time I need to turn over in bed though.

I've actually had a couple of times now, where I am dreaming I'm pregnant and the baby is kicking, and then I wake up two minutes later and he's actually kicking, so that's why I was dreaming it - very strange!

peonygirl · 13/08/2023 20:57

Well I do worry how much stronger will he get because he's been banging in there whole night last night :D I am happy to know he's doing well, of course, but I do feel he's preparing me for his night routine after delivery. I've been waking up around 4am for weeks now, both for the toilet as well as for the kicking session.

@ttcttc I am sure your partner could feel it, I can see the movements through my skin! I am only 29w tomorrow, I thought this will be coming later. He's also kicked every single midwife that touched my belly last week 😂

ttcttc · 13/08/2023 21:45

@peonygirl I'd say next door can feel it some days 😂

I'm always poking about. My partner said stop torturing them. I said no I'm waking them up, I'm starting my sleep training. They can sleep when I sleep 😂 if only!!

LaVitesse2022 · 14/08/2023 12:04

Can't remember who mentioned clicking noises here when baby moves but I've definitely started noticing some now. It's a bit unnerving! But apparently normal and caused by baby sloshing around the liquid moving creating these air bubbles that then pop and make that noise.

Adding to the chorus of those saying baby is kicking away merrily all the time now. We've been a bit freaked out by actually seeing belly going up and down as he moves, such a weird thing! 😅But peeing has been the main reason for waking up during the night, and having to switch positions too. Pregnancy pillow last night made a difference so will keep using that

katherine123x · 15/08/2023 09:35

Morning ladies, hope everyone is doing ok! Seem to have a lot of watery liquid come out my left nipple today ... anyone noticed this? I know it's Normal to leak but was expecting something thicker 😂🤷🏼‍♀️

doeandfawn · 15/08/2023 10:14

Ended up going into triage last night for reduced movements. Took him ages to get moving when we were there and we were a bit worried and then of course he got the hiccups for a full 30 minutes. He seems to be fine but we’ve got more scans to go and get today just incase. Thanks to those of you that encouraged going in, I was really scared that they were going to tell me I was wasting time but they were lovely and really encouraging.

Summer022 · 15/08/2023 11:53

I’m finding movements really hard to track, I’m feeling anxious about not noticing it as reduced movements because he seems to move a different amount each day. I actually find it really stressful 😫

Midnight00 · 15/08/2023 11:58

@Summer022 I know exactly how you feel. I would say it's only been recently (31/32 weeks) when I've noticed a more definite pattern. I've an anterior placenta too, so often he could be kicking that and I'd be done the wiser.

@doeandfawn Glad you got checked and some reassurance. I've been in twice for spotting and the staff have been wonderful.

doeandfawn · 15/08/2023 12:14

@Summer022 I’m 29+1, normally at some point in the evening he has a wee active spell but it had been 24 hours with absolutely nothing. Fundal placenta so he’s just still so small that tracking is hard! My midwife recommended avoiding all the tracking apps until late late late stage pregnancy to avoid panicking.

Chanteuse · 15/08/2023 12:34

I’ve been in three times with RFM, mostly due to my anterior placenta tbh! I’m now 32 weeks and my movements have changed, he’s running out of room 😂 so it’s more rolls and punches than flutters/kicks

Agree that monitoring movements is stressful! Baby is pretty active but like others I find it hard to see any particular pattern aside from she is generally more active in the evenings. During the day it is variable but I tend to start panicking if there is even a small gap without any movement. I don't remember finding it this stressful last time!

@doeandfawn glad all is ok.

Sagittarius25 · 15/08/2023 15:00

@OrionNebula I feel the same as you, and agree with everyone that movement monitoring is stressful! Baby is generally active throughout the day, more so in mornings and if he's quieter it will be in the afternoon, and then usually very active in evenings and when I've gone to bed. But also find myself stressing when it's been a short time without movements, having to remind myself that he does indeed need to sleep at times 🫠 🤦🏽‍♀️

But again no strict pattern apart from the evenings/bed time really. Will be 30 weeks on Friday. Part of me can't wait until he's just here, although I know I will have a load of new anxieties worrying he's ok 😂

Sagittarius25 · 15/08/2023 15:07

Also struggling with what feels like sciatic nerve pain, especially worse the past couple of days. I'm seeing my chiropractor in a week, who I've been seeing for years but haven't seen since I was 9 weeks, so hoping he can help! 😩

doeandfawn · 15/08/2023 15:25

@Sagittarius25 hope it gets sorted for you! Sciatica is the last thing you want when already so uncomfy.

Esl17 · 15/08/2023 15:38

@katherine123x i have had a mix - some clear and watery and some white and thick!

Esl17 · 15/08/2023 16:01

Wondering if anyone here who has previously had a baby has any experience with sweeps? Was feeling pretty calm about Labour etc but was in the Maternity Assessment Unit last week to discuss a scan and the poor lady in the next bed on the other side of the curtain was given a sweep and she was literally screaming and begged them to stop, me and my partner could hear everything and now I don’t think I will accept one if offered, it’s really thrown me. Really struggling with the lack of privacy in hospital triage etc and nervous about being on a ward and having such invasive procedures when everyone can hear - I can’t believe something like that can just be done behind a curtain, our results were discussed out loud and could also hear everyone else’s medical conversations in assessment an triage. I guess going to the doctors etc is so private and medical confidentiality is normally drummed in I’ll just have to accept that going into hospital that all goes out of the window and to try not to care.
