We are also going to keep gender a surprise, it’s our first baby so happy either way. If it is a boy I would be really shocked as the last boy born on my mothers side was her brother and that was 60+ years ago!! On partners side there is a mix of both girls and boys.

I'm the opposite and convinced it will be a boy! Husband is one of 3 boys, his brother has 3 boys, his other brother has a boy and a girl (boy born first), his dad was one of three boys and they've all had boys.

Although hubby also has a younger sister and half sister, there hasn't been a first born girl in the family for probably over 200+ years so it would be really special if we had a girl!

Golaz · 13/07/2023 13:04

welcome @Musicalitymum and congratulations 😊. How are you feeling? I’m due 22nd- DC 3 🤪. Currently 8 weeks and barely functioning 😩 with nausea and exhaustion

Musicalitymum · 13/07/2023 13:57

I’ve only been sick once and just get queezy when I’m hungry. I’ve got a raging appetite though and I usually eat like a sparrow! I’m a big tea drinker so have switched to decaf but it’s made really sleepy. My husbands brothers have both had two girls so he thinks it’s a girl but I’m not sure. I’d be happy with either.

sherbertlemon17 · 13/07/2023 14:06

I found out something really interesting this week, apparently the gender is decided by the male partners family line. If they have more sisters you’re more likely to have a girl and if they have more brothers, a boy. It’s something to do with the genetics producing more sperm either carrying the X or Y chromosome.

It doesn’t mean you’ll definitely have that gender, but it’s more likely.

The whole genetics thing blows my mind!

Strawberry06 · 13/07/2023 14:14

@sherbertlemon17 I already knew all that, hence my earlier post lol. It is really interesting though.

@Musicalitymum I've felt a bit like that, only feel sick when hungry and my appetite has been huge!

Un7breakable · 13/07/2023 18:06

Congratulations @Musicalitymum this is my first as well.

Had an 8 week scan today 🤞 all looking good.

Sparkles512 · 13/07/2023 18:56

The genetics from the male side really blows my mind too!

My husband has a sister.
We have a little boy. I'm convinced we are having another boy.

All of my husbands cousins have a boy and a girl though!

I'm happy either way as long as baby is healthy 🥰

Bababybell · 13/07/2023 19:44

@sherbertlemon17 thats so interesting! My partners dad has a brother and he has 2 sons - I’m now thinking I might be having a boy because I have a daughter already.

Bababybell · 13/07/2023 19:48

I can time my nausea like clockwork - 4 pm. As long as I go very slowly and avoid bending down or talking I get through it. The other day I was changing my DD nappy around 4 pm and I was sick afterwards. It’s so strange to me that there’s a specific time I’d love to know if there’s an explanation. I get nausea at other times randomly throughout the day but always at 4 pm no matter what for weeks now.

Tilly18101 · 13/07/2023 19:54

Sorry ladies I’ve been missing in action, had a shock of finding out it’s twins yesterday and still very shocked by the news. Identical as well, and it doesn’t run in the family. I have to go back in 2 weeks as was too early to do any screening, but looks like I’ll be very busy with 3 under 2 - can’t quite believe it.

MummyTo4BoysXXXX · 13/07/2023 20:39

@Tilly18101 awww twins! 🤣 congratulations though 😊 was it your first scan? & do you mind sharing your scan photo? how far along are you x

Wow congratulations @Tilly18101 that's so exciting!! Also such an interesting scan pic, thanks for posting - I've never seen a twin scan before

Mangotango39 · 13/07/2023 22:15

@Tilly18101 wow that's an amazing photo congrats! Did you have any signs at all?!

Tilly18101 · 13/07/2023 22:30

Mangotango39 · 13/07/2023 22:15

@Tilly18101 wow that's an amazing photo congrats! Did you have any signs at all?!

I’ve been absolutely exhausted this pregnancy, but I thought it was because I have a toddler as well this time but turns out might be because my body is working extra hard for two of them. Otherwise no signs, twins don’t run in the family either so a complete shock!

They share a placenta but unclear if a sac yet so have to wait for a rescan as still early only measuring 9+6 and should be 11 but apparently that’s quite normal to be behind with twins and they weren’t worried / if they share a sac it’ll be very high risk :( so very anxious right now. Now sure how on earth we are meant to cope with a toddler and twins and financially afford it all. Just crazy.

Beautiful photo :) thanks for sharing. Double congrats!

Ebonythoughts · 13/07/2023 22:52

@Tilly18101 that’s wonderful news! Congratulations!

Hankthehonk · 13/07/2023 23:09

@Tilly18101 wow twins congratulations but I totally understand that you'll still be processing that news. Both in terms of the impact on your life once they arrive, and the worry about maybe having additional risks. I hope you can find parents-of-twins threads on here that might help?
We have our private scan on Monday - I've been so exhausted I've wondered if it's twins here too but no reason to believe we don't just have one in there!

AllAboardTootToot · 14/07/2023 05:28

Anyone else experienced a sharp stabbing pain lower right abdomen?

I dont have any bleeding/spotting but been intermittent throughout the night.

I hate this early time, just so anxious about everything.

Un7breakable · 14/07/2023 06:20

@AllAboardTootToot I have, although it alternates between right and left. My GP isn't at all concerned and said it was normal. I was quite worried but everything was clear on scan last night. Google seems to suggest it's early ligament pain.
