Bright red blood spotting 31 weeks 4 days pregnant

(PIC BELOW)

I’m currently at work, been to the toilet for a number two and come to look down I see a bit of bright red blood on the tissue? (I checked to make sure it was definitely coming from my vagina and not my bottom)

baby is kicking and moving fine, I’m not cramping as it happened so I don’t know if it’s because my (poop) irritated my uterus?
my bump is tight, but I’m sure that’s normal too.
I’ve been in a number of times to the hospital for cramping/low back ache but they checked for premature labour and it was all fine.
seeing this was just not what I need!

(Might I add i wasn’t a straining when going to the loo, no constipation just a normal bowl movement!)

Ring the maternity unit at the hospital asap. You need to get checked out.

AnnaTortoiseshell · 03/07/2023 09:08

Aw love that’s really worrying. I had absolutely loads of bleeding like that during my first pregnancy and always had to go and get checked if it was fresh red blood. There was never anything wrong and said pregnancy is now a fabulous three year old. I’d call triage and get yourself into hospital as soon as you can. It’s probably nothing but you need to get checked out.

HawdMeBack · 03/07/2023 09:10

May well be nothing concerning but ALWAYS best to get checked out x

Tinkietot · 03/07/2023 09:12

100% ring. They would rather see you a hundred times than ever miss something. I promise you aren’t annoying them, they don’t judge. The midwife’s would rather deliver a healthy baby than a different option.

TheLassoWay · 03/07/2023 09:12

At my hospital, any vaginal bleeding at that gestation is a reason to phone the maternity assessment centre to get checked out.

MintyCedric · 03/07/2023 09:13

Get yourself checked out asap for peace of mind.

I had similar at about 25 weeks. Turned out to be a small ruptured blood vessel in my nethers thanks to a cough I wasn’t able to take anything for the week previously!

DD eventually arrived 2 weeks late and is now a strapping 18 yo 😄

Thanks everyone! I know it’s better to be safe than sorry, you do feel like you’re wasting their time, especially when I’ve been in a few times! I have monitored it and it’s still pink when I wipe, not a lot and it’s not bright red anymore, I have no transport to the hospital until later on around 3/4pm.. as my car is in the garage, I know I’ll be asked to go in to be checked.

I’m just not sure if it’s because of going for number 2, and it’s pushed out some blood? It just wasn’t a hard stool more very soft if anything sorry for TMI!
mum just thinking of other things it could be rather than think of the worst

Go in. Don't wait.

Get a taxi or a bus. Or ask a friend or colleague to drop you.

Movement isn't reassurance unless a midwife has told you it's fine. It can be a sign of respiratory distress. I'm not trying to scare you, that's just a fact.

My mum bled like this with me, was immediately admitted and had an emergency c section later that week for a ruptured placenta. I was born at 30 weeks.

Bleeding at this gestation is a sign you need to be very urgently checked out.

Whataretheodds · 03/07/2023 10:29

Please call them now.

HawdMeBack · 03/07/2023 10:34

OP, go now. Get a taxi.

Seasidesusy · 03/07/2023 10:37

I agree with PPs. Just find a way to get there and go. Don’t delay all day just in case there is something that needs to be done. Nothing is more important than your baby right now.
I hope you check out ok and baby is well.

Xxshannyxx12 · 03/07/2023 11:05

I will be going in later today it’s the only time I can go.. it’s been two hours and each time I’ve gone to the loo to check it’s still pink when wiping, so maybe that’s it slowly stopping? It hasn’t been bright red since

How much later? You really should go

mumtotwox · 03/07/2023 13:57

I had bleeding with my 2nd baby when I was in the office, I left the minute I saw that blood... there was no way I could focus on my job. My partner was away with the car and I just got a taxi.

Please go and get checked soon 🫶🏼

YukoandHiro · 03/07/2023 13:59

Please just get in a cab. Nothing is more important than the health of you and your baby.

Al991 · 03/07/2023 14:00

You should definitely get checked, but also is there any chance it’s coming from your bum?

Ive had piles in pregnancy and given myself a heart attack a couple of times because my bottom was bleeding (sorry for the huge TMI 😅)

like I said if you aren’t sure where it came from deffo ring up and get yourself looked over.

YukoandHiro · 03/07/2023 14:00

It slowing down or stopping does not mean things are ok. You need to be checked to find out why it happened in the first place

Izzie94x · 03/07/2023 14:01

sod work, call the midwife then ring a taxi and go get checked 🤍 it’s probably nothing but it’s not something I’d leave all day! X

Xxshannyxx12 · 03/07/2023 14:02

I am on the way as we speak, My bump just feels constantly tight right now but no more blood and the pink discharge has completely stopped, monitoring it for the last hour and a half and there’s nothing coming out now, if anything gone back to normal? I’m positive all is okay and I know it’s best to be checked

It was definitely from the front! I did a proper check to make sure, nothing from the back at all. 🙈
I am on the way to triage, I’m sure it’s all okay but like someone had posted even if it’s stopping best to be sure why it happened in the first place

Hope all is ok OP.

Do show that photo to the midwives. Is baby moving?

Missytizzy · 03/07/2023 14:09

Could it be a cervical ectropion? Harmless but bleedy, very common in third trimester. And red blood is NOT always bad, despite what everyone seems to think - ectropion bleeds are red and can be very heavy. Great that you’re getting checked out though of course. Good luck!

I will!
and yeah she’s moving completely normally, very strong movements pretty much all day her usual pattern. 🫶🏻
