I have booked.my flu jab for end of September as they are already booking up and didn't want to wait until my midwife appointment and run risk of not getting one until october/November time.
I had my first ever flu jab last year and ended up getting the flu about 1 weeks later and was rough but I think how ill I would be if I had not have had it. Aside from it stinging a bit when had it I was fine no side effects
@Nclktnntt I believe as we are pregnant we can get the covid booster if you want it. I won't be as I don't feel comfortable with having it whilst pregnant but as with all vaccines it's personal choice.

Congrats @Nclktnntt that's brilliant! So funny them sitting comfortably on your bladder 😂

I've had whooping cough and will get the flu jab as I get it every year with asthma. Never had any issues with side effects though I know some people do.

@smldnlove I'm not sure if mine is definitely ligament pain but from googling it could well be. It feels like a stitch. Sometimes in my right side between hip bone and rib, other times it's low down to the left of my right hip bone. One night I had a really sharp stabbing pain for a few seconds which scared me, but I had been for a very brisk walk that day as well as scrubbing my showers so I've tried not to overdo it since then!

Nclktnntt · 15/08/2023 07:10

@smldnlove with mine I had it a good few weeks back now and it was very sharp at the base right by my hips, usually one side or the other. The once I was sitting and I leant to the left and over and on sitting back up it really came sharp. It's not done that since but I don't think I've stretched that far again since lol. I sometimes have a dull pain, again by my hips, if I stand too quickly when I've been sitting for a while. I'm not sure if that's because I stand a lot at work so they go stiff when I sit to eat though as that's not an intense or sharp pain then.

I've thankfully not had ligament pain for a while so hoping that lasts - really need to start doing my pelvic floor exercises though.

Nclktnntt · 15/08/2023 09:09

Oh I forgot to add - I've joined the anterior placenta group. They've said mines not low lying so they're not going to do any further scans or checks on it with me.

The midwife I then spoke to after the scan also told me if I go ahead and Google it, to ignore most of what's written 😂 esp about the not being able to feel them. She said I will and should be by 24 weeks and once I've felt them for 7 days in a row that it will not go backwards and therefore if I go 1 day where I've not felt them (from then on) that I should call them. Then as the pregnancy progresses I'll feel them more and more and will learn their pattern throughout the day which then means if I don't feel them when I normally do in the day, to call them. And that's usually by 28 weeks.

I'm sharing that part as I found that much easier to know what I'm looking out for rather than the generic leaflet you get. That being said, those of you with low anterior placentas I don't know if that accounts to you too so maybe check with your midwife if you want some guidelines to follow. I just like that I have something to go off now and know what to be looking out for 😊

Nclktnntt · 15/08/2023 09:12

Also - morning after my whooping cough vaccine - arms all good, slightest ache just feels like I walked into something a few days ago lol. Not had any side effects or felt in anyway out of the ordinary. She said some people get a very mild headache but I've been fine 😊

Mushroo · 15/08/2023 09:22

@Nclktnntt thats really helpful thank you! I’m starting to feel her a bit more, but only in the evenings and still not everyday.

Sounds like I should start to properly feel her in the next 3 - 4 weeks, can’t wait!

99SR · 15/08/2023 10:53

I was so poorly at work yesterday, came home and done a covid test and it was positive!! Couldn’t stop crying, felt so worried about baby. Hardly felt any movements. So I had a glass of fresh orange, and seemed to give her a nudge. I phoned my midwife today & she’s said to keep doing what I’m doing, keep walking around the house as I’m slightly at risk for a blood clot. If my symptoms get worse I’ve to phone triage and they will get me in for hospital treatment.

so yeah, I will definitely be getting the flu jab because I cannot feel this poorly again!!

hope everyone else is good x

Nclktnntt · 15/08/2023 13:45

Oh @99SR I really hope you're feeling better soon and don't need to go to hospital. When at the scan yesterday they had us wear masks as there's a new variant doing the rounds, they all wore masks in the room too - we didn't know, otherwise I'd have wore my mask anyway.

So when I'm indoors now and when I fly to America I'll be wearing my mask in the airport and on the plane for sure!

Keep yourself hydrated and look after yourself 😊

Pitstop1986 · 15/08/2023 20:17

Sorry to hear that @99SR

Drink plenty of fluids, lots of rest, vitamin d, c and zinc and try to eat some good, healthy foods.

I hope that you're feeling better soon

SMG1992 · 16/08/2023 07:57

Sorry to hear you are unwell @99SR
I hope a few days of rest help you recover, the baby should be fine you just need to do your best to take the rest you need. x

Mushroo · 16/08/2023 14:50

I finally just felt a ‘proper’ kick! She’s been going for about 5 mins now. Definitely kicks and not the vague feelings I’ve been having so far. So happy 🥰

20+4 so taken awhile!

Charlielechat · 16/08/2023 15:07

Ah delighted for you @Mushroo ! It's such a happy feeling!

Mushroo · 16/08/2023 15:23

@Charlielechat thank you! Was starting to think it would never happen

Nclktnntt · 16/08/2023 17:58

Ahhh amazing @Mushroo I'm on day 4 of feeling them in a row and they're definite bumps at times, I was about the same time as you when they started (I'm 21 weeks today).

Such an amazing feeling but slightly weird too 😂 being bumped from the inside lol.

smldnlove · 16/08/2023 18:01

@Mushroo Yes kicks started for me at 21 weeks exactly! Now lots of somersaults and pretty hard kicks on my right side always it seems to be. We are absolutely loving it!

Mushroo · 16/08/2023 18:22

@Nclktnntt I’m really hoping mine carries on now as well!

@smldnlove 21 weeks seems to be key, it feels so weird, but good weird!

RG84 · 16/08/2023 20:05

That's amazing, glad you can feel the kicks, it definitely gives reassurance:)
I'm yet to feel a "kick" still only feeling waves. Hoping in another week I'll get some definite movements.

Had my first "booking appointment" today at my new hospital. Literally had to go through everything again, took 2 hours however went better than I had expected. Midwife has booked me a scan each month now due to the diabetes which is a bonus getting to see bubs each month..also booked pelvic physio which I've never had before, eye test and dietician. So far so good.. they found a trace of protein in the urine but not enough to worry about so that's good.
Also got my Matb1 form issued today.

I'll only see the consultant end of September so will be able to discuss c-section dates then. Really want the date as biggest fear is going into labour before my section date.

Beans1982 · 16/08/2023 22:57

@Mushroo Ah that's great news! really pleased you're feeling baby kicking 😀
I'm 20 + 5 today and still not sure if I'm feeling baby or if they're just muscle twitches. I'm hoping it's baby though as the last few days I've felt a couple of 'twitches' in the same area and around the same time of day.

SMG1992 · 17/08/2023 08:10

So good hearing about everyone getting more movements!
Mine are still faint and not regular but I felt him this morning when I woke up so it's still reassuring.

Does anyone know if the glucose test for gestational diabetes is for everyone or just those at higher risk?
I have my midwife appointment next week (24 weeks) and haven't heard anything about having one.

Mushroo · 17/08/2023 08:11

@SMG1992 ite just if you have risk factors. So I have to have it because my mum is diabetic.

I’ve heard it tastes awful though so not looking forward to it!

Nclktnntt · 17/08/2023 09:05

Ahhh I thought everyone had to do it, maybe I won't need to then as there's no history in my family. Just a history of high blood pressure but mines always been fine throughout my life. So fingers crossed I don't develop high blood pressure because I want a water birth and I don't think you can have one of you have high blood pressure.

I was going to ask my midwife at my next apt anyway, we'll be a week early (23weeks) because she's away then I'm away for 3 weeks so that wipes out the 24-28 week mark all together 🙈

NoodleQueen90 · 17/08/2023 09:25

Glad people are starting to feel more movement now 😊it is reassuring! I'm definitely noticing the kicks getting stronger and more regular but not a set pattern just yet. My OH has felt one kick from the outside now over the weekend but everytime baby has kicked since, he's either been asleep or at work.
I'm 23+1 now and my ribs/top abdominal muscles are getting really sore...it feels like I've done 10000 sit ups 😂particularly when I'm sitting down which is not ideal as I work at a desk full time! I think it's just everything moving up and probably ribs splaying out the way but wow it is uncomfortable! I have a 3hr virtual meeting today and I'm thinking I'll need to just put my camera off as I really can't sit still in a normal position!

Charlielechat · 17/08/2023 12:35

@SMG1992 I have to get it too as my dad has diabetes, not looking forward to it at all!

I'm starting to notice a pattern to baby's kicks - normally before/during a meal and at night when lying down. They kick like crazy when my DH puts his hand on my belly at night - it's such a weird feeling 😂 He can feel some of the kicks now. Not sure what it is about the hand on my belly, maybe the heat, as baby doesn't really respond to my hand!

ThomasinaLivesHere · 17/08/2023 12:44

@SMG1992 If you have no family history of diabetes then the urine test they do every visit should be sufficient as that can pick up glucose issues as well as other issues.

I had my anomaly scan yesterday. Everything looks good! I chickened out and emailed my boss about pregnancy as thought I really need to tell him but got nervous about calling for some reason. I suppose it’s also good to have record of it if needed. Can’t believe only about 4 months away!

wannabemum38 · 17/08/2023 13:25

Kicks are such a wonderful feeling glad you are all feeling them now.
I'm having diabetes test due to being advanced maternal age and my dad has type 2 I'm not looking forward to it at all.
