Good luck with your scans today ladies! 🫶

Undercoverunicorn · 11/08/2023 07:24

Good luck to those with scans today

Nclktnntt · 11/08/2023 07:49

Good luck with your scans today ladies. I have mine Monday 😀

On a side note - my right si joint in my hip started hurting yesterday, no biggy I've had crap hips since a car accident about 10 years ago and they thought I was putting it on when I couldn't all properly, so anyway I thought nothing of it until my pubic bone started hurting which made me think is this the onset of that pelvic girdle pain do you think? On the nhs website you basically have to wait till you can't walk before speaking with them but it also says if it's caught early it's better dealt with, and if I wait till I can barely walk, I'll not be able to work (I have to stand for hours at a time) on the nhs site it also says don't sit or stand for too long a period, I've not mastered hovering yet 😂😂 it also says keep moving and exercise but also rest a lot - very contradictory advice throughout, anyone dealing with it yet? What's your advice been?

Good luck with the scans today everyone x

We had our scan yesterday and found out we are having a little boy. I would have loved a girl but I’m just as happy with a boy, just glad they are healthy and that’s all you can hope for. Everything looked normal which was good. They had trouble doing all the checks they needed because of the position they were in but after a walk and some sugar it seemed to get them moving so the sonographer could get everything they needed. Good to know the baby likes chocolate! The head measurement seemed quite large on the report but they didn’t seem concerned about anything, is it normal to have a larger head at this point?

FirstMondayInMay · 11/08/2023 10:25

@Nclktnntt yeah I’m really struggling with my back and hips too! My GP referred me to physio, I’ve got my first appt next week. But I’m not expecting it to make much of a difference. I spoke to the consultant about it last week and he said chances are it’ll be like this now until baby is born☹️

Mushroo · 11/08/2023 10:59

Scan went well! All looking normal and confirmed it’s a girl :)

Scan photo is terrible (sonographer apologised 😂) but I don’t care, feel like a weight has been lifted!

smldnlove · 11/08/2023 11:06

@Nclktnntt @FirstMondayInMay So glad it’s not just me!! I’m seeing an osteopath today about my lower back and pelvic pain as it’s becoming just constant! I did have a previous minor back issue but really didn’t expect it to flare up so soon in pregnancy!!!

wannabemum38 · 11/08/2023 11:20

@Mushroo congratulations glad it went well and you can relax a bit now. My 20 wk scan was rubbish cos little bean wouldn't stay still!

Congratulations on all of the scans! Love seeing everyone's news coming through!

I went pram shopping yesterday and we've decided on the Bugaboo Fox 5, loved seeing my husband with it too - it really suited him pushing it around!

I'm also having some hip pain, mine's on the left so not sure if it's in relation to sleeping position.

I'm 22+2 now and am still only feeling really subtle movements - how is every one else's movements? I can't wait until I can feel something that is undeniably a kick rather than just flutters.

Beans1982 · 11/08/2023 12:30

@Mushroo Congratulations on your scan, really pleased to hear it went well! 😁

Glad to report that mine also went well this morning, and we found out that we're having a boy 💙so my intuition had been right all the time in thinking baby was a boy.
Our Sonographer also foundit tricky to get a good photo of our boy, he was wriggling around and had his hand in his mouth but eventually moved after I moved around a bit. I have a very active baby it seems!
Baby is on track and looks healthy, I was told my placenta is partially anterior (on the right side) and is a bit low so will need to go back at 32 weeks to check placement.

@Nclktnntt @FirstMondayInMay I'm experiencing more hip pain recently. Been trying to put a pillow between my knees and lower legs but I still feel pain in my hips. I thought I wasn't moving enough and that's why I was experiencing pain but interesting to hear that too much movement/standing also causes issues.

RG84 · 11/08/2023 13:33

Congratulations on your scans ladies, glad all went well. Always a relief.

Hope you are all doing okay.

ThomasinaLivesHere · 11/08/2023 13:44

Glad scans have gone well and good luck for those who have one coming up. Mine is next Wednesday. I had my 3rd (?) midwife appointment this week and everything looks good. Midwife said I’m looking a few weeks bigger so it’ll be another big baby I think, so glad to be having the c-section 😂. Only a few more weeks until I have a consultant appointment and can hopefully get date booked.

I’m going to tell my boss and team next week. I feel a bit nervous about it.

Charlielechat · 11/08/2023 13:48

Congratulations everyone on your scans! That's great news! ☺️

Nclktnntt · 11/08/2023 13:50

Glad to hear your scans went well ladies.

I think I'm going to have speak with the midwife / doctor I think. The pubic bones not too bad this morning but my lower back / hip is flaring up again and that bone will follow if it's anything like yesterday.

It's impossible to get a doctors appointment just now again though 😢 I need one to get a fit to fly certificate for next month too. I've heard that's a pollava - so if you need one start organising it earlier than you think. But obv not too early 🙈 I was told about a month before by the midwife.

@smldnlove I know! I didn't expect my previous issues to cause issues just yet, I don't feel big/pregnant enough for that to be a thing yet. But obviously it is. I honestly thought I'd have until my 8th maybe 9th month before my body really started to struggle, if at all.

@FirstMondayInMay how long did you have to wait to get your referral and then appointment

Mushroo · 11/08/2023 13:50

@Beans1982 congratulations! Mine was the same, lots of jiggiling as she had her hand in front of her face. The sonographer was great this time, went through everything very clearly.

Also confirmed anterior placenta explaining why
i can’t feel much yet. She was moving loads on the screen and I couldn’t feel a thing.

99SR · 11/08/2023 16:52

Glad everyone’s scans went well today!

my hip pain and lower back pain has been so bad for the past few weeks. Midwife thinks is pelvic girdle pain starting. Hoping it doesn’t get too bad. I’m a nursery nurse so I’m on my feet all the time. She also said avoid crossing your legs but I sit crossed legged all the time with kids at work so that’s been hard to stop. The pain behind my pubic bone is so sore too! Was starting to get worried it was something else. has anyone bought a support belt? If so which one would you recommend?

Lavender2020 · 11/08/2023 19:42

Hey everyone, sorry didn't update earlier today but my scan this morning went well and confirmed that we're having a boy! 🩵 so very pleased and relieved that it's over to be honest!
Then went out and bought a little blue teddy bear for him and spent the rest of the day in shock as I think I expected a girl deep down, no idea why lol 🥰🤣

Mushroo · 11/08/2023 20:12

@Lavender2020 so pleased it went welll, I’d been hoping it was good news!

We did the same and bought a little toy bunny on the way home. I feel I can really start to get excited now :)

Vsah22 · 11/08/2023 21:18

So pleased everyone had good scans, lots of lovely little boys on the way 💙

We’ve booked to do NCT classes in October, hoping to find them useful especially as we are first timers and have a lot to learn! I’ve heard some people say it depends on the person leading them so fingers crossed we will be okay.

Beans1982 · 11/08/2023 21:57

@Lavender2020 Ahhh lovely news, so glad your scan went well!

Completely agree, it's such a relief to have finally had the scan isn't it. Now feel we can properly start to shop for baby and decide on a short list of names.

@Vsah22 There are lots of little baby boys on the way in this group aren't there 😀I know a friend of mine was told the same about her baby's head being a bit larger when she was expecting her first boy (this was a few years back now), her baby boy turned out perfectly fine and healthy if it's any comfort - I think they compare our babies growth development against a set of generic measurements (can't remember if someone told me this or I read it somewhere).

RG84 · 12/08/2023 10:43

Hi ladies, I hope you are all doing well. Since I have moved house over the weekend, well still in the process, I have had to change hospitals. I am now registered with the new hospital and have my first midwife appointment on Friday 18th. Hoping it the grass is greener as changing half way through is giving me a little anxiety...anyone else had to change hospitals?
