I'm starting to get the line down from my belly button whatever it's called. No extra hair just massive boobs!

All the best with your scan tomorrow @RG84
are you finding out gender?
mine is at 9.20, I already know it’s a boy so just want to check up on him and that everything is all good
feeling very nervous, hopefully I’ll get some sleep!

RG84 · 30/07/2023 22:10

@SMG1992 thank you so much. Good luck as well :) tell me about it, I've been waiting for the 31st for ages and now I'm so nervous! Ekkk! I am going to find out the gender so I can start planning and buying bits as I go along. My appt is at 10.30am. Glad it's a morning appt so don't have to wait all day for it. I don't think I'll sleep tonight with the nerves.

Undercoverunicorn · 31/07/2023 05:49

@SMG1992 @RG84 good luck with your scans today

Smileyface32 · 31/07/2023 05:49

Hi everyone, just curious if anyone has opted for an elective c section before. Just wanted ask whether they do it on the due date or wait a while. I ended up with an emergency c section last time so was wondering if the experience of being an elective c section is different and what to expect. It’s a couple of weeks until I see my midwife. Just wanted to be a little bit more prepared this time round 😀

RG84 · 31/07/2023 07:04

Thank you @Undercoverunicorn :)

@Smileyface32 I also ended up with an emergency section with my first pregnancy. This time around I am going to opt for an elective. I'm hoping they won't refuse as I'm also considered high risk pregnancy etc. I heard that you get a date within 2 weeks of your due date but i guess various from trust to trust. I have a obstetric appointment on the 30th August so I will find out more detail. Let your midwife know on your next appointment so they can refer you to the Obstetric to discuss your situation. My biggest fear is waters breaking before my section date 🤯😭

@SMG1992 @RG84 goodluck with the scans today!
Mines is tomorrow but not until 5.30pm! Xx

smldnlove · 31/07/2023 08:37

Good luck all with scans coming up today! Hope they all go really well ✨I have an obstetrician appt tomorrow and scan on the 9th!

@wannabemum38 I have also got the linea nigra since about 2 days ago. It’s just appeared out of nowhere! Finding all these changes so interesting!

Nclktnntt · 31/07/2023 09:21

Happy scan day to those having their scans - I hope everything goes well 😃

Are we all moisturising/oiling our bodies & bumps now? I've been using bio-oil and I absolutely love it 🥰 smells gorgeous, soaks In beautifully and my skins so soft! In the morning I put it everywhere including my face and all my tint under the skin spots have gone away, in the evening bump gets an extra smothering for bedtime 😂 no stretch marks as of yet (18 weeks though so not sure if I would have them yet?) but I have them on my butt, have for years, and they're improving with it - I didn't want them getting worse so my legs and butt have also been getting smothered even on rush days lol.

Anyway - what we all loving so far? I've also heard coco butter is supposed to gorgeous too. You can see I'm loving bio-oil, and it's lasting me ages! Will easily last a good 3-4 months if not slightly longer.

RG84 · 31/07/2023 12:11

Thank you ladies, had my 20 week scan this morning and thankfully all went well 🙏🏽 we are expecting a baby boy 💙 now we need to tell our 3 year old daughter who wanted a sister 😆

bookbathnap · 31/07/2023 12:47

@Nclktnntt I haven’t started with the bio oil yet but I have it on standby. Maybe I should start? I’m 22 weeks but can’t see any stretch marks on my bump, just old ones on my hips.

@RG84 congratulations on your scan and baby boy!

I had some terrible mood swings last night. I was angry one minute then laughing and then that turned into crying. I feel so exhausted at the moment. Wish I could have some time off work but I’ve only got a couple of days annual
leave left for the year and I want to save them for the 3rd trimester if possible.

Beans1982 · 31/07/2023 12:55

@Nclktnntt I'm 100% with you on the Bio-Oil! I've been using it for a couple of weeks now and it's so good. Been applying it twice a day to my bump, no stretch marks as yet but might be too early for them to appear at 18 weeks + 3 days? and it does smell really good - I highly recommend it.

@RG84 Congratulations on finding out you're having a baby boy! and glad everything went well with your scan 💙

Good luck to everyone else having their scan this week!

wannabemum38 · 31/07/2023 13:09

@RG84 congratulations on your scan and baby boy news

I've been using Palmers cocoa butter for a month or more. No stretch marks yet but then I've read if your genetically likely to get then no amount of cream or oil will stop them forming so it will be what it will be. None so far though 21 weeks and 4 days today!

OP posts:
LittleButtercup · 31/07/2023 13:19

I'm also using Palmers cocoa butter at the moment, primarily as I've started to get itchy skin as my skin is stretching! However, I religiously applied various expensive oils and creams with my first pregnancy and at around 30+ weeks I started getting really bad stretch marks, they covered the whole of my stomach by the end of my pregnancy. I agree it is definitely genetic - it will be what it will be!

SMG1992 · 31/07/2023 13:45

Glad your scan went well @RG84 and congrats on your little boy!
Mine went well too, found out my placenta is anterior which is why I'm not sure if I've felt any movements yet so I'm looking forward to start feeling more in the next few weeks.
I've been using the Burt's bees hydrating body oil for pregnancy - it has a strong lemon smell which I really like. I'm not sure if I'll get stretch marks or not, II have some old ones on my hips so I think my body is susceptible to them.
I need to start looking at maternity bras - I've been living in sports bras but my mum told me off so any recommendations would be appreciated.

RG84 · 31/07/2023 13:55

Thank you everyone for your messages :)

@SMG1992 amazing, glad your scan went went too and you saw your little boy :) ah I also have an anterior placenta position which also explains why I haven't been feeling as much. My first pregnancy was also anterior and I only felt obvious movements from 23 weeks so might be the same again. Overall glad all is well.

I haven't brought myself some tummy cream yet and really need to as itchy belly and stretch marks.

Now that I know it is a boy, we need to start thinking of some names and boy names and not easy hey!

Charlielechat · 31/07/2023 14:19

Congrats on your scans guys! Great to get that big one over with!

I've been using Mama Mio tummy butter and it's lovely. No stretchmarks yet but I did also read that genes have a big part to play. So hopefully they stay away!

Nclktnntt · 31/07/2023 15:42

Definitely if your body is susceptible to stretch marks you'll get them - which mine is for sure, like I say lots of tiny ones on my butt, which is why oils/creams are good to help minimise them. Won't stop them but will help with their appearance and afterwards as our tummies start to shrink again too.

@SMG1992 I have 2 really pretty ones for m&s and I'm going to get some plain cheaper ones, so I have a few I feel pretty in and some just cheaper ones so I'm not spending too much money 😂

Congratulations on your boys 🥰🥰

NoodleQueen90 · 31/07/2023 16:36

Congrats on the scans from today 😊
I've been using the palmers cocoa butter (I think its actually a massage lotion for stretch marks I'm currently using rather than their standard moisturiser one) and it's been great. I have some old ones on my inner thighs but no new ones appeared so far. I'm hoping to minimise them as far as possible but I guess it's just one of those things you have as a mother so won't be too upset about it. I have cellulite on my legs for the first time in my life as well lol it's mad how much the body changes in such a short space of time.
I also need to get maternity bra's, I might go to M&S for a look/try on this week. Have no idea what size I am having always been a 32A totally flat and suddenly have these big heavy (to me) boobs 😂

RG84 · 31/07/2023 16:37

Thank you and I hope all your upcoming scans go well too.

I also had the whooping cough vaccine today. One less thing to deal with.

wannabemum38 · 31/07/2023 18:15

@RG84 I had mine last week still got an achey arm but was painless enough. I've been looking to get my flu jab booked not sure who organises that for us or if we just sort it out ourselves?

@SMG1992 congrats on scan hope that's given you some comfort.
I got a couple of maternity bras from jojo maman bebe very comfortable.

Nclktnntt · 31/07/2023 18:27

@NoodleQueen90 I hope you have more luck than me - no where here seems to stock maternity bras other than supermarkets. I went to 3 m&s's all big ones and nothing. Most maternity stuff seems to be online only 😡 I ended up having to buy a tape measure and measure myself and then use the online converter for the store to see what size. I'm normally a 34b but have gone upto a 38d 😳 although I think either a 36d or 38c might have been a slightly better fit but I needed them for my holiday so stuck with them knowing I'd grow a bit more anyway lol .

RG84 · 31/07/2023 19:05

@wannabemum38 I stupidly moved slightly as I hate needles and it stung a little but so far so good. Flu vaccines your GP can book for you too but I can't remember when to get that done as it needs to be a specific time. I have a midwife application on the 9th Augsut so I will check and update the group.

Regarding maternity bras, I am desperately need to get some. I don't know why I get so much anxiety over maternity bras, so weird! Happened with first pregnancy as well. I'll have a look at your suggestions though.

Flowers90 · 31/07/2023 20:00

Congratulations to all those who have had their 20 week scan mine is next week.
I work term time so currently off work spending the summer with my 3 year old. I'm absolutely exhausted. Had a nap.today whilst she slept and already wanting to go to bed

Pitstop1986 · 31/07/2023 22:20

My favourite nap to take is that after lunch nap when my toddler naps. It's always so refreshing!
