I was looking at the ones that you can put the car seat on it and it has the lay flat one for when they're a little bigger then the pram part for even bigger. However, practically, at the moment we have a 3 door and getting in and out the back with a baby already in the car seat is going to be unwealdy, so most likely going to get all separate ones so back to square one with no idea 😂

You can book a session at places to go through them and narrow down the options too. We're probably going to do that October time. October / November for me will be getting everything we need for babies arrival I think. (We're away most of September and renovating a house which we need to do certain parts before we go) 🙈

GingerJanee · 24/07/2023 13:25

Hi everyone, probably a really silly question I’ve my 20 week scan this afternoon and was wondering do I need a full bladder for it like the others? Or I’m good to go as normal?

NoodleQueen90 · 24/07/2023 13:34

@GingerJanee most people are told no, an empty bladder is fine. Weirdly my letter says full bladder but even at my 12 week scan they made me go and empty mine so I'm definitely not going bursting again 😂
Baby should be big enough to see without the full bladder now though

GingerJanee · 24/07/2023 13:40

Thanks so much @NoodleQueen90 enough stress going on waiting for the scan and this just popped into my head 🤣

NoodleQueen90 · 24/07/2023 13:49

Aw hope it all goes well 🙂what time is it at?

RG84 · 24/07/2023 13:53

@GingerJanee good luck with your scan today, hope all is well. I was also told its not needed for the 20 week scan.

Regarding prams, car seats, cots etc. We took out my daughters cot and realised we left the leg of the cot in South Africa where she was born. We also left the car seat and bassinet which attaches to the pram we currently use for my daughter. I thought however we packed the legs for the cot. Was trying to save on costs on not having to buy new. Anyway my partner is adamant he is going to arrange for the missing bits to be shipped over but I said it might cost the same VS buying new. Nope he is sure shipping will still be cheaper 🤷🏽‍♀️ so this is where I am with prams, cots and car seats.

Hi everyone - I haven't felt any noticeable movements yet either and was a little concerned (also don't know what to look out for with it being my first!) Had my 20 week scan on Friday and I have an anterior placenta so that explains it! I'm sure that will be the case for the rest of you that are not feeling anything yet. I'm looking forward to a few weeks time when hopefully the movement is big enough for even us anterior placenta mums to notice!

Re prams - I have started looking but there's so many out there its really hard to choose! I did look at the Nuna Triv in store and liked how easy it was to fold up. My other requirement is a car seat that has the option to recline to pop on top 🙂

Hello Everyone!
I wanted everyone's opinion on the gender of my baby! What do you think i am expecting because the curiosity is killing me lol

Due December 2023 part 4
RG84 · 24/07/2023 19:05

My immediate thought was boy but I could be looking at the wrong thing lol

GingerJanee · 24/07/2023 19:14

Mixed feelings from the 20 week scan - thought the radiographer wasn’t that pleasant and she didn’t tell us what she was looking for and at the end told us we’re to come back for a rescan in 10-14 days because she couldn’t see something on the heart, everything else looks “as expected” and we’d get photos then. That was basically it, I was very annoyed at the time moreso upset because we’ve had such lovely people up to this but now I’m trying to tell myself maybe she’s just very clinical and I could be glad of this if there is any issues. Though can’t help but feel a little annoyed still even though this is probably irrational.

FirstMondayInMay · 24/07/2023 19:43

@UrsulaJ i thought boy as first too, but looking again I think the cords between the legs so I’m saying girl!

@GingerJanee sorry you didn’t have the best of experiences at your scan! I had an early scan done by someone that was very similar but I suppose at the end of the day they’re just doing their job. Hopefully your rescan will be better and you manage to get some pictures!

17caterpillars1mouse · 24/07/2023 20:50

@UrsulaJ I think girl

@GingerJanee the sonographer at our 12 week scan was quite abrupt and unsociable. It does ruin the experience somewhat. Don't worry about the rescan, sounds like they just couldn't get the right angle for something, rather than an issue to worry about. If they were worried they would have you back sooner

SMG1992 · 24/07/2023 21:01

@GingerJanee sorry about your scan experience- that’s annoying they didn’t give you more info when you have no idea what they’re looking at
I hope the next 10 days go quickly for you and I’m sure all is fine or they would act quicker x

GingerJanee · 24/07/2023 21:18

@FirstMondayInMay @17caterpillars1mouse @SMG1992 I know I’ve settled myself with the thought that this is a job to some people and they maybe don’t realise how much importance is placed on these scans, especially being a first time parent and not having a clue what I’m looking at 🤣 Here’s hoping for a quick 10/14 days for the rescan, plan to remain positive as much as possible!

We did call into our local nursery shop on the way home for a nosy and to cheer me up and the selection is overwhelming. My MIL manages the store so luckily she’s a wealth of knowledge because I think I’ve underestimated the selection of things you can buy for babies!

joyjoy23 · 25/07/2023 06:18

@GingerJanee I had a very similar experience at my 12 week scan. The weird bit was that the somonigrapher who did it was also pregnant so you'd think she'll show a bit more empathy. Luckily, the 20 week scan went much better and the lady that did it this time was much more sociable.

Joining the no-movement-bandwagon. My placenta is anterior and I haven't felt any confirmed movements yet. However, both my husband and I think we were able to feel gentle tapping / popping last week when I was 19 weeks pregnant. It could easily have been something else though.

@FirstMondayInMay We've started looking at prams and as a first-time mom I'm finding the number of options really overwhelming atm. It's like looking to buy a car when you have no driving licence and / or idea what driving even means...... 🤯

NoodleQueen90 · 25/07/2023 08:55

Sorry to hear your experience at the scan @GingerJanee hopefully you get someone more pleasant when you go back!
Re prams, I think the way to go is definitely to try them out in a shop if you can...the choice is unreal but speaking to some people, they were heart set on a certain pram but when they actually got it, it was a nightmare/heavy/difficult to fold etc. I'm really keen to try the out and about nipper as I'd like to get back to running/jogging next year...it's not so amazing for newborn stage but then they'll be born in dead of winter so was going to try a sling library and try out some different carriers to use when they're smaller for going out walks etc...which will be few and far between at first due to weather. All of that will depend on the baby as well...some of them won't lie in a pram and others hate being carried 🙄
Fully prepared to go to the pram centre and end up hating the out and about even though in theory it sounds perfect for me online😂
Also considering trying to get whatever pram we choose second hand as you can get some in nearly new condition. Same with the sling/carrier.

GingerJanee · 25/07/2023 09:31

@NoodleQueen90 thats how I feel too everyone around me with babies has the iCandy so when we went yesterday I was sure I’d be falling over myself for it but I actually liked the Egg and Uppababy Vista more to walk with! So already my head is in a tail spin 😂

My MIL did say some people choose to stick to the likes of a Doona/sling for the newborn stage and then just buy a really good stroller from March/April on because nobody is going to be out and about that much in winter to need the full travel system/bassinet etc. I don’t love the idea of the Doona personally and I’d be hoping if we go for a travel system I’d have it for every baby (if I’m lucky enough to have more) so I mightn’t get the full use this time round but it’ll be one expense less next time, we also live in the middle of the countryside and for going to grandparents etc I’d really like to have a bassinet element to let baby sleep when we’re there! It’s hard to know I found myself more confused yesterday than I was before I went in. I think @joyjoy23 said it perfectly it’s like looking for a car when you’ve not even got your licence!

TulipVictory · 25/07/2023 11:53

Anyone else feeling breathless easily? 😩

TulipVictory · 25/07/2023 11:53

Anyone else feeling breathless easily? 😩

Yes.
I think it was Emma's diary that said it can happen from 16 weeks.
Doesn't help the people at work have infected me with their cough! Thankfully not the cold as it wiped out 70% of the office!
I'm off this week to look after my little boy who has chicken pox.
It's weird as it's probably one of the last times I'm going to get proper 1 on 1 time with him and it's because he's spotty. Not complaining though. I've managed lie ins and a daytime nap! X

smldnlove · 25/07/2023 13:08

@joyjoy23 Completely agree! It’s so overwhelming! We went to John Lewis and they were great and basically helped us narrow down. We have landed on the Nuna Triv Next as want something that looks good, folds down and is fairly light for me to manage when on my own. It’s really hard though, would recommend going somewhere where you can speak to someone in the know like JL!

FirstMondayInMay · 25/07/2023 13:19

@TulipVictory yes! Some days aren’t too bad but others, I’m out of breath just talking😩

RG84 · 25/07/2023 13:34

I love good storage space at the bottom of the pram and not a tiny little space for barely one bag.

wannabemum38 · 25/07/2023 14:51

@TulipVictory yes where I live there are some steep hills which can be a struggle with shopping at best of times. But even at 20 weeks I'm finding it hard going and have to stop halfway.
Just got back from having my whooping cough vaccine. Didn't realise it also contained diphtheria and tetanus and polio booster too. I used to be so rubbish at injections and blood tests but thankfully after I had my appendix out a few years back I got over my fears. Although I'm not looking forward too my diabetes bloods in September.

Yes! Glad it’s not just me although I really should walk more as I can be quite inactive some days.
