I’m also 19 weeks with my second and not felt anything yet.

I had a private scan at 16 weeks and was told I had an anterior placenta (again!) so that explains it. I’m guessing you may have an anterior placenta too?

I also had an anterior placenta with my first baby and started to feel movements from around 21/22 weeks.

RG84 · 23/07/2023 15:53

@LittleButtercup that's good to know. I'm not sure where the placenta is located which is annoying as that would of made sense but from what I can remember with my first, I think it was anterior so maybe its due to that. I felt my first around 22/23 weeks.

I'm glad it's normal then as a little worried. This week is going to go so slow, typical.

On the happy side, today I ordered some baby sleepsuits from M&S. I don't know what the gender is yet so just plain white. My first baby purchase. I had some work vouchers to use.

Undercoverunicorn · 23/07/2023 18:55

@smldnlove hope all went well at the scan

wannabemum38 · 23/07/2023 20:30

Hope scan went OK @smldnlove they always say to trust your instincts.
My little one didn't move much after having my scan on Friday but then woke up last night. My OH asked if he could try to feel it move and they did which was really nice.
Had our banns read at church today for the wedding which was exciting.

Hi everyone! Scan went really well, baby was all healthy and happy and wriggling around like mad. Was in about 4 different positions in the space of 10 minutes. So reassured and was definitely the right thing to do!! Thanks for all your kind words ✨

RG84 · 23/07/2023 20:40

@smldnlove I'm glad your scan went well today and you are feeling more assured. A relief:)

@wannabemum38 I'm happy your OH is starting to get involved with the baby, small steps will make a difference as the pregnancy grows.
Congratulations on the band reading, another exciting thing to look forward too. Glad you are feeling better on both situations :)

smldnlove · 23/07/2023 20:41

@wannabemum38 Glad that your OH is making an effort to be involved and asking to feel baby move. I’m sure it’s just taking him a bit of time with all that’s going on. You may also notice a difference after wedding as my OH definitely has got more excited after the wedding madness!

Charlielechat · 23/07/2023 20:52

Glad everything went well @smldnlove 😊
And glad things are a bit better with your OH @wannabemum38 Weddings can be a very, very stressful time - even subconsciously!

SMG1992 · 24/07/2023 08:00

@smldnlove So glad your scan went well.
I had a bit of a meltdown cry last night as am getting worried about movements that I can't feel - it feels like that's all people are asking at the moment and it makes me feel like something is wrong as I don't really know if I can feel anything.
My scan is next Monday so I'm going to hold out until then and hope I get something more obvious beforehand for peace of mind.

NoodleQueen90 · 24/07/2023 08:43

@SMG1992 I think we have the same due date (13th December) so both 19+5? Please try not to stress about it...I've had the same, my Mum and Sister have been asking me constantly for weeks and I actually snapped at them to stop it over the weekend...I know they don't mean any harm but it's still early-ish for feeling movement and they're stressing me out. It's such soft flutters that it could easily be mistaken for gas and also if the baby moves position, the feeling disappears for days at a time. I can only feel soft flutters when lying down concentrating on it and sometimes I think I'm imagining it! Do you know where your placenta is lying? I don't but have my scan on Wednesday so plan on asking then. I think mine might be anterior but over to the right as anything that I think I've felt has been on the left hand side (but honestly this could have been my bowels!)
Midwives will tell you not to worry about movement patterns/feeling movements until after 24 weeks for a reason...there's such a lot of growing to be done in that 4 and a bit weeks.

SMG1992 · 24/07/2023 08:56

@NoodleQueen90 We are the same due date so yeah will be 20 weeks on Weds. I'm not sure where my placenta is either so if it's anterior that could answer why I'm not feeling much/ if anything!
Mine is my mum and sister too! They've been saying since I was about 15 weeks and it's just starting to get to me now.
I bet you can't wait until Wednesday for your scan - I feel like I've been waiting so long for this one and I had a reassurance scan at 16 weeks!

NoodleQueen90 · 24/07/2023 09:11

@SMG1992 I really can't wait, I was 13 weeks at my last scan so it's been a long time coming!
I'm also then away for a few days with my Mum, Sister, Niece and Nephews so I'm glad the scan will be done first and I can relax and stop snapping at them while I'm away 😂unless they do something else to annoy me haha
My sister has been prime candidate for doing annoying things like trying to touch my belly when I was only like 11 weeks and it was just fat 😤
I love them really but it's good to have a rant on here and give OH a break from hearing about it 😁

RG84 · 24/07/2023 09:15

@SMG1992 also in the same situation. I am 19 weeks today and no movements. I have my 20 week scan next Monday. Could be placenta position so I'm just going to try and hold off until the scan. Super hard as this week will feel like forever.

Still can't believe 19 weeks today! 🥰

Mushroo · 24/07/2023 09:20

I’m so glad there’s other people in the same boat re movements. I’m a couple of weeks behind you (17 weeks) but other than the odd flutter which could be gas absolutely nothing discernible.

my placenta is at the front (got told at my 12 week private scan) so I think it’s normal I’m not feeling much.

Feeling a bit meh today - didn’t eat well over the weekend (loads of crap) so just feel huge and gross and not in a bump way, in a fat way. I need to get back on doing some walking at least.

SMG1992 · 24/07/2023 09:37

@NoodleQueen90 Yeah I agree it's just nice to have a rant space with people who understand how you're feeling.
@RG84 This week is going to feel like such a long time! I'm sure we'll both be feeling much better next Monday :)
@Mushroo I wish I'd asked about my placenta at my scans, I wonder if they would have mentioned it if it was at the front or not with questioning? I'm feeling meh today too, I got back from a week in Greece on Saturday and am definitely looking more pregnant - however it may have just be all of the holiday food helping my bump look bigger!!

Mushroo · 24/07/2023 09:45

@SMG1992 the NHS one didn’t mention it so yours could still be at the front, I think it just depends on the sonographer! Hopefully we all feel something soon.

Mine is holiday food too - but I don’t seem to have stopped since being back home!

SMG1992 · 24/07/2023 09:49

@Mushroo Haha same! I also get really grumpy if I'm hungry but need to try and get back to eating healthier choices (luckily I crave a lot of fruit).

Cowlan · 24/07/2023 09:58

I'm in the same boat guys! I'm 18weeks today and haven't felt anything significantly. Some pops and bubbles but like some of you this is my first so not sure what to expect.
I have my 20wk scan on the 10th august, can't wait for that for reassurance as we already know what we are having.

I wish you all the best with your upcoming scans! 🩷💙

RG84 · 24/07/2023 10:03

@SMG1992 I've never been so excited for a Monday morning haha..thankfully my appt is in the morning so don't have to wait the whole day, that would drive me insane!

I also wished i had asked the placenta position on my 12 week scan just didn't think to so do.

Also ate rubbish over the weekend..last night's dinner was pizza and chips, just had no energy to cook.

17caterpillars1mouse · 24/07/2023 10:15

I have an anterior placenta and did with dd2 as well but even so I'm still having a different experience with movement.

With dd2 I didn't really feel her until 20+ weeks at all, despite her being my third pregnancy. However with this one I started feeling light flutters around 18 weeks and now at nearly 22 weeks you can't miss them. He likes to party at 9pm every night and dh felt him for the first time last night. With dd2 he didn't feel her until after 26 weeks.

I guess my point is it must really vary from baby to baby / pregnancy to pregnancy even with an anterior placenta so try not to worry.
With dd1 my placenta has at her back and I remember I hadn't even felt her before the 20 week scan

Beans1982 · 24/07/2023 10:30

It's so exciting that we're all nearing the half way point! Looking forward to hearing all about the 20 week scans coming up, wishing everyone all the very best ❤mine is on the 11 August so I know time is going to drag from now until then.

I'm 17wks+3 today and definetly have a baby bump but not feeling any movement yet, only gas bubbles and what I can only guess is growing pains.
I'm still experiencing nausea and vomitting some days (like today) which I had hoped would have dissapeared by now. But I did enjoy a Chinese over the weekend - it tasted sooo good even though it wasn't the healthiest. I think we all deserve a few 'cheat' meals and treats here and there 😉

NoodleQueen90 · 24/07/2023 10:47

It's worth noting that the placenta also moves so they tend not to confirm an anterior placenta until the 20 week scan anyway. They might mention what position it's in at the 12 week one but I don't think it's medically relevant until later on.
I think the reason they like to confirm the position is in case it is low lying? They would want to do extra scans later to confirm that it has moved up away from the cervix as the uterus grows. I'm sure my sister had this with her third but it had moved up by 32 weeks so wasn't an issue during birth.

Charlielechat · 24/07/2023 11:39

Good luck to everyone with scans this week! Excited to hear about them! Another 2 weeks until mine.

I think I have felt some tiny taps the last few days but they are so soft that they could easily be missed throughout the day. I only feel them when I'm laying in bed or on the sofa. They're not like flutters or butterflies, but more like a little pulse or a tiny bubble pop. I'm sure at this stage they do go unnoticed until baby is strong enough to give us a good jab 😂

FirstMondayInMay · 24/07/2023 12:31

Good luck everyone with scans coming up this week!

has anybody thought about prams yet? I’m going to have a look after my scan, all being well!

NoodleQueen90 · 24/07/2023 12:34

@FirstMondayInMay I'm planning on going to a few pram centres after my scan as well to try them out. I have a rough idea in mind from looking online but found the number of options overwhelming as well! Looking forward to physically trying them and picking what is right for us.
Then it's on to car seats which I find even more overwhelming 🙈
