@ThomasinaLivesHere yeah I’ve heard that - to be honest I won’t get one I just want to start getting some bigger movements that definitely can’t be confused for gas!
I had a scan at 16 weeks and heard heartbeat a week later so everything should be fine, the worrying really does not stop though! I thought I’d be feeling better after 12 weeks

Mushroo · 21/07/2023 10:01

Also no movements yet. I’m 17 weeks tomorrow and it’s my first so normal, but would still like something!

I have my 16 week appointment today and really
hoping they listen to the heartbeat but not sure they will.

wannabemum38 · 21/07/2023 10:32

Understand all your anxiety. I heard baby's heartbeat a couple of weeks ago when I had some issues feels like a lifetime ago. I bought a doppler used it a couple of times and although I picked up what I hoped was baby's heartbeat it was 160bpm and my heartbeat was 75bpm I read so many negative things about it can be placenta etc and give false hope I sold it.
I have my 20 week scan this afternoon I'm excited but also terrified incase the movements I've felt this week are not baby at all just imagining them or gas! But don't fret too much I was told it can be up to 24 weeks for some people to feel anything and also depends on where your placenta is lying. Sending positive vibes.
Plus does anyone know what I can put on gums my wisdom tooth is giving me pain and none of the gels I have we can use in pregnancy. I'm rinsing with warm salt water and taking paracetamol but it's got worse today.

@wannabemum38 wishing you lots of luck with your scan today and I’m so sorry you’re going through a tough time with your partner. Is he going to the scan with you? He sounds bloody useless I want to give him a good shake!

Undercoverunicorn · 21/07/2023 10:46

@wannabemum38 good luck today. Sorry to hear about your gum, might be worth a trip to the dentist to get it checked out.

NoodleQueen90 · 21/07/2023 11:30

@wannabemum38 good luck for your scan today, hope all goes well. I would also try to get an appointment with the dentist (easier said than done!) but in the meantime if it's your gum, corsodyl mouthwash is safe to use and slightly more effective than salt water. I was using the small brown bottle for 2 weeks as my gums were a mess and the pain actually woke me up one night. It really helped! I've switched to using corsodyl daily now as the brown bottle causes staining of the teeth after prolonged use. It also tastes horrible and can numb your tastebuds a bit but it really worked for me.

NoodleQueen90 · 21/07/2023 11:33

Re movements, I didn't feel anything at all until 18+6 and even then I wasn't sure that it wasn't gas. I'm 19+2 at the moment and occasionally feel what I think are faint flutters but it's not strong or obvious movement. I only notice it when I'm lying down trying to go to sleep.
Try not to worry too much (I know, easier said than done!). Even if it's not a first baby, the placenta might be anterior this time which means baby is kicking it instead of your tummy. Lots of people don't feel anything until 24 weeks.
No doubt in a few weeks we'll all be moaning about getting kicked in the ribs...or even worse, the cervix!😂

smldnlove · 21/07/2023 12:17

I thought I was feeling things week 16 and now it has completely gone and feeling the same everyone. 18 weeks tomorrow.

I have a pain I keep getting around my bladder so going to call the midwife team today and see if they can check things out/reassure x

wannabemum38 · 21/07/2023 12:26

@NoodleQueen90 @Undercoverunicorn I don't have a dentist unfortunately I'd have to go down the emergency route which at the weekend is always tricky. I had pain in early pregnancy in same tooth so.im hoping its just hormones

Just had my 16 week appointment. Felt fairly pointless - just a urine sample and a blood test to see if baby is rhesus negative or positive.

No listening to heartbeat as they don’t do it where I am until 25 weeks.

Counting down to the scan now!

smldnlove · 21/07/2023 16:35

@Mushroo I remember feeling similar, although I did hear heart beat i was confused about the rest and seemed a bit pointless. When’s your 20 week scan?

@wannabemum38 Good luck this afternoon, let us know how your scan goes x

ThomasinaLivesHere · 21/07/2023 16:36

@Mushroo A lot of midwife appointments feel like that I found. I guess it’s just a way to check in with you that and test urine to check no issues. You reminded me about the test for the baby’s blood type. I completely forgot to bring that up but I assume my trust doesn’t do the test as they did go over what being rhesus negative means.

Mushroo · 21/07/2023 16:41

@ThomasinaLivesHere @smldnlove glad its not just me feeling that way! My scan is 3 weeks today so still have awhile, hopefully it’ll go quickly.

On the rhesus side I don’t think everywhere does the blood test to test the baby. I don’t think injections will be too bad anyway (I hope!).

Also booked for my whooping cough vaccine in case anyone needs to do that x

RG84 · 21/07/2023 17:21

I have a midwife appointment (telephone) when I will be 21 weeks. Is there anything I should be asking at these appointments? I never know and always forget.

But more importantly I have a Obstetrics appointment at 24 weeks, what should I be asking and needing to know at this stage?

wannabemum38 · 21/07/2023 19:22

@Mushroo I'm also rhesus negative and had the dna blood test which apparently is quite new to test baby. Turned out they are negative too so no injections for me but I've had a couple before and they are OK.

Got my whooping cough vaccine next week and will be booking flu jab as soon as I can.

So had my 20 week scan my OH did come with me. Was being a bit of a pickle and not in right position at all so the photo we got is a bit rubbish compared to before. But importantly they are doing well and growing and healthy and no signs of anything abnormal. My placenta is unfortunately a bit low lying so they will be checking up on that at my 32 week scan which we booked in today. I hope that it moves by itself.
I burst into tears when I came out with relief that all is OK and hope I can start to relax a bit now.
Still seems surreal to me I'm halfway!

bookbathnap · 21/07/2023 19:29

@wannabemum38 oh what a relief to get good scan results. I’m really pleased for you. They said they exact same thing to me about my placenta. We are placenta-buddies 😂. They said in 90% of cases it moves up just fine.

RG84 · 21/07/2023 19:46

@wannabemum38 I'm glad everything went well at your scan and your partner went with you. Hope you are doing okay x

Undercoverunicorn · 21/07/2023 20:03

@wannabemum38 glad the scan went well. Also in the low lying placenta club, mine is being checked sooner (about 25 weeks) in case it has adhered to my c section scar as that can cause issues. Plenty of time for them to move up though, and you get a bonus scan!

wannabemum38 · 21/07/2023 20:10

@Undercoverunicorn @bookbathnap Ah no.way quite common then. I've read it's more common in women over 35 and even more so over 40. She didn't seem overly concerned so I hope it does move. I was booked in to have scans at 32 and 36 weeks anyway as an older mum so I shall just go with the flow and try not to worry too much.
Just relieved that little bean is not so little anymore and doing OK still feel so lucky!

smldnlove · 23/07/2023 11:24

Hope everyone is doing well this morning! The anxiety has taken over about some pains and lack of movement so booked a private scan for this evening. A bit annoyed at myself but really needed it, really hoping everything’s fine😞

bookbathnap · 23/07/2023 11:47

@smldnlove you’re doing the right thing in trusting your instincts so please don’t beat yourself up about it. Best of luck for the scan later, I’m sure everything will be fine but good to check. Feeling proud of myself this morning as I managed an evening out at the pub last night. The exhaustion has been rough but last night feels like a turning point. Baby also gave me a good wallop at one point.

NoodleQueen90 · 23/07/2023 11:47

Hope the scan goes well @smldnlove, let us know how you get on. I'm sure it will be fine, hopefully baby has just tucked into a corner for now.

Charlielechat · 23/07/2023 12:06

I'm sure all will be fine @smldnlove It's hard at this stage when you have no proof that they're ok in there! Good luck and let us know how it goes x

smldnlove · 23/07/2023 12:39

@bookbathnap @NoodleQueen90 @Charlielechat Thank you all for the reassurance! Will let you all know how it goes later, it’s at 6:30 x

RG84 · 23/07/2023 14:02

@smldnlove I hope your scan goes well later today. Thinking of you.

I'm with 2nd baby and I'm 19 weeks tomorrow and I haven't felt anything. Is that normal? I really want to go for a rearrurnace scan but my partner is telling me to leave it (he's a positive thinker) I'm the opposite.. I have my 20 work scan on the 31st July. I know its only a week away but not feeling anything knowing I should is a little worrying. My other half puts his hear the the belly and says there is activity but that i have no idea what he is hearing.
