@wannabemum38 I'm sorry you are going through this. Relationships in general are tough but when pregnant, you need that emotional support from your partners. I agree with @ThomasinaLivesHere that maybe bonding is not for everyone but ignoring and showing no interest is not on. I really hope he realises soon and hope that's get better xx

RG84 · 20/07/2023 12:19

I had a telephone appointment with the midwife this morning to check in on my sugar levels as I need to check it 4 times a day and currently on metaphormin. I have 2 extra scans in Oct and Nov with the Dr but thankfully the midwife has booked me a Dr appointment at 24 weeks as well. I know some of you have your c section dates already so would be good to see if I can get my date booked in.

wannabemum38 · 20/07/2023 12:49

Thanks for all your advice ladies means a lot.

I had my second midwife appointment today. I got to listen to baby’s heartbeat. I have my consultant appointment booked for the end of August about my c-section request. It would be good to get a date booked but I’m not sure they do it so soon. I stupidly forgot to ask midwife.

RG84 · 20/07/2023 14:11

@ThomasinaLivesHere glad your appointment went well and you got to hear the little one.
Some of the ladies in the group already have their date for the c section. I also forgot to ask the midwife this morning regarding this.
My Dr appointment is on the 30th August so I really hope they can give me a date as well.

Alexis7890 · 20/07/2023 14:25

@RG84 my obstetrician won’t book the c section until I’m 36 weeks. They know it’s what I want and will see the consultant team regularly throughout but they won’t book it until 36 weeks which seems so far away

ThomasinaLivesHere · 20/07/2023 14:32

@RG84 That’s my date too! Hope we get dates. It’ll be good to know the birth date so far in advance although like @Alexis7890 shows it depends on where you are as trusts do it differently.

Nclktnntt · 20/07/2023 14:52

@ThomasinaLivesHere do you have your midwife's phone number? Mine gave me her work mobile number to text if I needed too.

@wannabemum38 I really hope your situation improves for you, try to enjoy your pregnancy as much as you can with friends or family, do you have someone you can talk all your feelings through with? Like has been suggested, keep being open and hopefully he'll come around 😊

RG84 · 20/07/2023 14:56

@ThomasinaLivesHere ah fab, I hope so too. Just makes it easier to plan ahead, work, childcare etc. And just life in general.

@Alexis7890 I can't even keep up with my appointments as due to the diabetes I have so many extra ones. Other than August, my Dr appointments are on the 1st and 29th November so I guess if I don't get a date in August, then it will be in November.

Today I am 18+3 but I really can't feel anything guys, should I be concerned? Or hold off worrying until the 31st July on the 20 week scan. Seems forever away

Nclktnntt · 20/07/2023 15:44

When did you guys have your bloods that check for gestational diabetes? Or can they tell that from the wee samples? I never ask why they want my wee 😂 I had bloods done at my first midwife apt and the first scan but was surprised at my second midwife apt when I didn't have bloods done or get weighed. My next midwife check up is September 6th. Scan is aug 14th when I know they swab and offer vaccines too but nothing was mentioned about bloods again.

ai38 · 20/07/2023 15:52

@Alexis7890 I am exactly like you with scan date on 31st. First pregnancy and feeling no movement at 18+4, anterior placenta though. It doesn't help my worrying that I am not showing either. I have a tiny bum but I feel I haven't grown much in the last few weeks so overall worried that I'd get bad news on 31st.

@ThomasinaLivesHere I got my c-section date at my first appointment with consultant/registrar at 14 weeks. They booked me for 39+2 because my 39th week would fall on a weekend and they said they don't book planned C-sections on the weekends. I was told that this is a tentative date and they will see if it needs to be changed after the 20th week scan. Hope you get yours soon too.

RG84 · 20/07/2023 16:13

Looks like a few of us have our 20 week scans on the 31st July :)

@Nclktnntt with my first in 2020, it was around 24-28 week region to check for GD. They can't check with the wee, they give you a sugary drink from what I can remember.

wannabemum38 · 20/07/2023 16:19

@Nclktnnttmine is at 28 weeks my midwife booked it for me at my 16 weeks check up along with my 32 week consultant appointment

@Nclktnntt They check your wee for signs of infection and protein, I think! Probably a few other things too

what do they swab you for at 20 weeks? And is it just the whooping cough vaccine they offer you?

Yea the whooping cough one, couldn't remember the name. They swab for a possible bacteria I think she said that can grow on some people and is harmless to us but can cause issues during birth I think. So they swab your armpits and groin then if you have it the give you a wash to use once then again so many weeks after or before the birth (can't 100% remember what she said, but it's along those lines) to get rid of it.

Clucket87 · 20/07/2023 17:01

Had my 16 week appointment and she was rather frustrated I hadn't been referred to the diabetic team by the consultant.
With 90 minutes my midwife had called the team and they called me back and I am going to see them on Monday.
Back to blood tests, medication and insulin every day.
I worked out I'm going to be doing 9 needles a day! Good thing I'm not scared but I will look like a pin cushion and covered in bruises lol.
I'm kind of glad I don't have to do the GD drink. I can't stand orange stuff lol. Xx

JSP21 · 20/07/2023 17:31

Im having such a hard time waiting for the 20 week scan and I’ve never felt so anxious before. I’ve got it next Tuesday and I can’t shake the feeling that something is wrong. I’ve not felt any movement yet and I’m sure I had already with my first. I’m hoping it’s because I’ve spent the last 10 days camping with my 20 month old and have been very active :(

ThomasinaLivesHere · 20/07/2023 20:42

@Clucket87 9 needles? Wow poor you that sounds tough.

@ai38 thanks for sharing your experience. I had previously looked at a calendar thinking they wouldn’t do weekends or special holidays like Christmas. 39 weeks for me is Friday the 22nd so I wonder if that will be the date.

@Nclktnntt I do have my midwife’s number but I think I’ll just wait and see what consultant says. It’s not like I need to know I’m just being impatient 😂

Itonlytakesaminute · 20/07/2023 20:52

Just catching up on things, can't believe a lot of us are at the point of our 20 week scans or had them.

Mines next week

My GD appointment is 28 weeks, they booked it in for me at my 12 week scan , I will see the consultant again at this point and also have my first growth scan.

Sorry to hear about your partner @wannabemum38 it sounds frustrating, are you doing ante natal classes as that may get him more interested,
I keep telling my husband to talk to the baby but all he has so far is 'hello baby'!

I'm feeling mine become more active over the past few days

Nclktnntt · 20/07/2023 20:56

@JSP21 really hoping all goes well for you! Sorry to hear you're feeling this way 😢

Kat2022 · 20/07/2023 21:29

I also have an appointment in August and I was told that I will be able to get a date pencilled in when I’m 36 weeks and c-section can start a week before my due date up until my due date. I’m due on 8th December Friday so the earliest I can have C-section is Friday the 1st. They won’t give me any date sooner

Kat2022 · 20/07/2023 21:32

@ThomasinaLivesHere please see my response above. I forgot to tag you

SMG1992 · 21/07/2023 09:13

@JSP21 sorry you’re feeling like that - I’m feeling similar as I’m not really sure if what I’m feel actually is movement or not
I’m sure your scan will be fine
it sounds like you’ve been busy so the little movements may have been unnoticed
I’ve got my 20 week scan on 31st - I can’t wait, I just need some reassurance… very tempting by an at home Doppler but I know they have a bad rep

ThomasinaLivesHere · 21/07/2023 09:20

@Kat2022 thanks for info 😊

@SMG1992 I’d be careful with home Dopplers as it’s common for women to mistake their heartbeats for baby’s or to take reassurance from it and not seek help with a change they’ve noticed.

RG84 · 21/07/2023 09:21

I feel the same way, I have had no obvious movements and this is my second so I am meant to feel it a lot sooner however I haven't. I heard baby heartbeat at 16 and a private scan a week later. Not feeling anything is making me really anxious. My scan isn't until the 31st July and just feels like forever.

Hope everyone is doing okay.
