Spotting/bleeding 5-6 weeks - TW PICS!

Hi ladies,

I’m 30 and this is baby number 2, I’m around 5.5-6 weeks pregnant.

This morning I started with very pale brown tinged discharge when wiping (lighter than the ones shown in the photo) and this afternoon, it has increased slightly, somewhat more red and then the most red one in the photo is just now.

I rang EPU this morning and they said it’s probably implantation from where she embryo is moving even lower into the womb, but said to call back if it got worse, which I have and they’ve booked me in for a scan but not until next Tuesday.

I’m a mess and can’t stop checking and wiping and worrying.

Has anyone had similar experience?

The only pregnancy symptom I have was bloating (which I still have) and really sore nipples which have decreased in soreness over the last couple of days.

Any help welcomed 💗

@happydaysss Morning! Well I didn’t bleed much overnight and what did coke out has turned a brown colour now, so hoping it’s going to stop in the next day or two. I’ve not big clots (just normal period sizes bits that you’d see) so I’m still keeping my fingers crossed for that tiny bit of hope, but then again, if it is a miscarriage, I don’t even know when it would have stopped developing so may not have even need many clots :(

How are you this morning? X

@dhb im glad for your emotional sanity if nothing else that the bleeding has calmed down a little for you. My bleeding is pretty consistent, not super heavy but enough to be wearing a pad. I've had one either clot or but of tissue last night. I think it's perfectly normal to cling on to a glimmer of hope xxxx

DHB · 22/06/2023 08:55

@happydaysss Oh that’s good, I know you say consistent but at least it’s not too heavy.

Yes absolutely, hold onto anything we can don’t we. This is the longest wait ever for the scan to come, it’s all I’m thinking about. I think I need to start being realistic though really :( xx

@happydaysss so lovely to think of us, I'm doing OK today I have had no more spotting at the moment a few period pains here and there but nothing too major at the moment.

How are you doing today? Xx

happydaysss · 22/06/2023 22:52

@Pippamorgan I'm glad to hear that and hope it hasn't got any worse. I bled a lot through today but it's eased off again tonight the same as yesterday. Feeling so confused but looking forward to the scan in the morning to get some answers xx

Pippamorgan · 22/06/2023 23:00

@happydaysss fingers crossed your scan goes OK tomorrow, got everything crossed for you xx

DHB · 23/06/2023 10:19

@happydaysss Thinking of you this morning and have everything crossed that it’s positive news xx

Pippamorgan · 23/06/2023 14:36

@happydaysss I'm so sorry been thinking about you all day.
@DHB same here I think my spotting stopped but around 2 hours ago I started bleeding quite heavy so clinic says see how I go over the weekend and ring back Monday

BagelO · 24/06/2023 04:35

@happydaysss so sorry - thinking of you x

DHB · 24/06/2023 21:04

@Pippamorgan Ive stopped again now, it literally was just brown spotting yesterday for me. I just want Tuesday to come and my tests to become negative so we can try again :(

How are you today? X

Mine is coming and going one minute it's quite a bit of pink then just brown spotting off and on. I'm not having much luck with my clinic my scan is not till the following Tuesday, so I hope they don't keep me hanging on till then, it's so upsetting when you have in your mind set it's all over and they still make you wait. I'm so glad it has stopped again for you I wish you all the luck and positive vibes for Tuesday xx

I had a lot of bleeding around 8 weeks with my last pregnancy. Was terrified as I had had an MMC a few months previously.

However, it turned out to be a subchorionic haematoma and my daughter was born perfectly.

DHB · 24/06/2023 22:32

@Pippamorgan Oh that’s so long to wait! Will they not do it any sooner?! It’s awful enough as it is, when we think we know but still have that 1% of hope.

@Loobydoobies I’ve read so much about those! But I think it’s a definite MC for me, my symptoms disappeared 2 days prior to the bleeding starting and I’m pretty certain my tests are getting ever so slightly lighter :( x

:( Take care of yourself, and hopefully the EPU will check you over x

Pippamorgan · 25/06/2023 09:17

@DHB I'm ringing again Monday, if they dont call me in il ring epu directly as the bleeding is just continuing but very light, yes we always hope

@Loobydoobies that's a great positive story to hold onto thank you so glad yours turned out OK.
I have read it and hope it could be that xx

DHB · 25/06/2023 10:01

Well I’ve definitely stopped bleeding now, me and OH DTD today and no bleeding after either, so I’m definitely done and dusted. Just don’t want to miss any ovulation that might creep up on us, plus I think we needed that closeness an intimacy after the worst week.

@Pippamorgan I’d just ring them directly, you can self refer anyway. That’s what I did as my GP wouldn’t do anything anyway (shock!) x

OP posts:
Pippamorgan · 25/06/2023 10:37

@DHB I totally get you it's so hard on us all and are OH aswell.
Oh thank you I didn't no I thought I needed to be referred xx

DHB · 25/06/2023 11:31

@Pippamorgan Oh yes absolutely call them! I ended up ringing twice too, they were really helpful, just a shame you have to wait so long for the scan, although I completely understand why of course x

Hi ladies, sorry to have found this thread but I'm in a similar boat. I'm super early, only 5 weeks tomorrow. Two days before AF was due I started to get brown discharge, which I thought was the start of AF. Five days later I got my BFP but still having the brown discharge and brown on the toilet paper almost every time I wipe (never in my knickers) up until last night when I got a fair bit of red blood on the toilet paper but then none since and back to brown.

I wore a pad to bed last night after seeing the red but nothing overnight. No cramping either. I'm already in touch with EPU from when I got my BFP so I could mention the brown and understandably there is nothing they can do, but they have booked me in for an early scan a week on Thursday - which feels so far away!!

Should I call my midwife tomorrow about the red blood last night? Or just wait and see?

I had a still birth last year so this feels nothing in comparison but I would most like to know what's going on - as I know we all would! lots of love to you all x

Loobydoobies · 25/06/2023 12:23

As a rule- brown blood is old blood, red is new. I would mention it to them and see what they say. However, it's very hard to see what is going on until c7 weeks as things are so tiny so they may have a bit of a watch and wait approach.

plopss · 25/06/2023 12:45

@Loobydoobies thank you for your reply :) That's what I'm thinking they will say. Just a waiting game isn't it! I've read so many things online that blood of any kind can be bad or not mean anything - I should probably have an afternoon off the internet!

Loobydoobies · 25/06/2023 14:17

Unfortunately so! It's often a case of steeling yourself for bad news whilst hoping for good news. Hope it all works out for you in the end x

DHB · 26/06/2023 10:46

@plopss Sorry to hear you’ve had to join this thread :( It’s a horrible time. Really awful about your little one being stillborn too, must make things even more anxious for you.

From my experience, I originally called EPU about the brown discharge and they just said to monitor, I then called a second time when it went red and heavy, that’s when they booked my scan, but like you I was very early, so they could do my scan any sooner. It’s booked for tomorrow at 10am, but in reality, I’m only going for them to check everything has come away ok :( x
