Hiya! I'm a 40 year old first time mum. Xx Happy to chat. :) I hope your pregnancy is going well? X

Littlegoth · 16/06/2023 14:23

Having my second in 3 weeks. I’m almost 42

Sali83 · 16/06/2023 14:24

FTM, had a healthy pregnancy and delivered safely at 45. Happy to answer any questions.

Jezzballs2000 · 16/06/2023 14:25

I'm 43 with a 3 year old and have a number of friends who has children in their forties. Everyone is having the same sort of experience as most mums - ie dependent on the individual but generally very tired! Don't be worried xxx

GoneAway227 · 16/06/2023 14:31

I had my first at 38 (nearly 39) and have just found out I'm pregnant again at 42. I'll be 43 when baby is due.

clarepetal · 16/06/2023 14:34

Totally jealous. Bestest of luck, you will be fine.

areyouhavinglaugh · 16/06/2023 14:51

Had my last child at 43 (happy accident)

The other 2 of mine have left home! It's quite nice having a 9/10 yr old at home if not exhausting! I'm way more chilled with the youngest than the older 2. They often comment "there is no way you would've let us get away with that at that age"

You'll be fine it's nice being chilled relaxed mum at school and not getting het up about silly things that really don't matter when they get older.

QueenVerilas · 16/06/2023 15:06

What are you scared about OP?

Jaystarlight · 16/06/2023 16:15

Hello everyone, so lovely that so many of you replied. Congrats to all the babies and pregnancies on here. 🥰🥰🥰
Trying to address everyone I am scared because this was not a planned pregnancy and imagining I will be 50 with a 6 year old is overwhelming.
I also have a 17 yo and a 6 year old so hoping they will adapt okay.
I am scared of higher risks of complications during pregnancy. Extra worries about baby having any issues etc.
Are there extra tests we need to have etc? I really want to tell my youngest as I have severe sickness and he is really worried about mummy and want him to know that I’m fine just carrying a baby but scared something will go wrong and he will get really upset.
I’m just a mess.
Sending love to you all. 🥰🥰🥰

airmaxJ · 16/06/2023 16:18

Sorry nearly 41

mondaytosunday · 16/06/2023 16:38

I had mine at 4/ and 43, my sister had hers at 45 and a friend at 46.
They will do a nuchal fold scan and offer further tests based on that if warranted.

Jaystarlight · 16/06/2023 16:59

@mondaytosunday that’s reassuring to hear 😊. Thank you

Would I liked to have bene younger

Yes

But Mother Nature didn't play ball

But having mini blondes made my world and being slightly older isn't the end of things

Means I'm ahead in my career and financially stable. , have own house and prob more patience then if I was 25

Lemieux3 · 16/06/2023 17:38

My youngest was born when I was 39. My aunty had a baby at 48!!

Good luck - don't worry. You have so much more patience at this age.

Pen40 · 16/06/2023 17:53

Hi everyone,
im 40 and will be 41 when I have the baby (I’m only 6 or 7 weeks so it’s very early days still)
it’s nice to hear from other people who are in their 40s …
can I ask if you had many symptoms in the early weeks? I haven’t really felt much different other than im really tired and getting up in the night for a wee
xx

BabyMoonPie · 16/06/2023 18:10

I had mine at 36 and 41. DD2 is 18 months old now and 6 year old DD1 is so good with her. I had extra growth scans due to my age and was consultant led although the consultant appointments were brief as my age was the only complicating factor and my pregnancy was uneventful. I was induced at 40+1 because my hospital recommended mothers over 40 don't go over weeks as research suggests the placenta cam start to fail and increase the risk of stillbirth

Jaystarlight · 16/06/2023 18:14

Hi @BabyMoonPie @Pen40 I have had awful strong symptoms but I always do which are debilitating 24/7 nausea and sickness and painful boobs. The nausea is absolutely torture 😢😢😢
