@buckingmad I have two boys and vommed with both, although don’t recall feeling this unwell. I’m blaming age

buckingmad · 06/06/2023 20:46

There’s obviously something in tuna we’re all craving!

I’ve turned a real corner today. Has a really bad retching session first thing but then I managed 3 small meals throughout the day and managed to go get my eyebrows and eyelashes done for holiday next week! I feel so much more positive. I can cope with the sickness if it’s concentrated to a small part of the day. It was when it was constant I just can’t cope. I’ve not even been thinking about how far along I am as the nausea has been all consuming but I’m 8+5 today ☺️

Muriel84 · 06/06/2023 21:19

Had my scan today and measuring 7 weeks. Saw heartbeat at 129 beats. that was my last nhs scan until 12 weeks so think I’ll book a private one for a few weeks time.

Feeling absolutely horrendous. I just cracked on as normal really with DS, but the last two days I’ve been floored. Can barely get off the sofa. Was absolutely freezing during the night woke up shivering then an hour later was hot. Throats sore wondering if I’ve picked up a bug.

Normally a tuna lover but gone off it already same as last time. Can’t read the above threads about it 🤢 I can’t stop drinking apple juice. I never normally drink juice

@Eirlys1986 I hope you’re able to relax and enjoy your hols, especially if nausea has abated so you can make full use of all inclusive! Symptoms definitely wax and wane. My nausea hasn’t been quite so horrendous the last two days I can just barely stand. Dreading work tomorrow.

@Mummyme87 do you think progesterone makes symptoms worse? I’m on mine till 16 weeks…

Firsttimerugbymum · 06/06/2023 21:21

Had my first scan today and can't help but feel it's made me more anxious (and I am quite an anxious person anyway!)

NHS says I'm 8 weeks based on LMP, I think 7 weeks 2 days based on ovulation and the scan only put me 6 weeks 4 days which concerns me.

Feel like you can't win with pregnancy and if you're not worried about the lack of symptoms, it's being behind or too many symptoms!

Trying to think of the positive in that the baby was there and had a healthy heartbeat and that should be enough.

Ps - definitely something in tuna right now and I demolished a tuna salad for lunch

xLJ1990x · 06/06/2023 21:56

Hello,

Haven't posted on here for a while but had an early scan last week and saw a heartbeat which was nice 😊

Is anybody else having long naps after dinner and then still sleeping all night? Shut my eyes for a few minutes after dinner and then suddenly 2 hours had passed! Never slept so much in my life 😂

7+2 today

Lilothblos · 06/06/2023 21:57

Welcome @Olive0il !
@Firsttimerugbymum that’s good news that you saw a heartbeat, from what I’ve heard it can be difficult to measure accurately early, and could your ovulation date have been a bit out?

Is anyone thinking of doing the Harmony test before 12 weeks? We were keen so just booked it for 10+5.

Firsttimerugbymum · 06/06/2023 22:01

Yes me too! Recently went on holiday and was sleeping 12 hours a night plus afternoon nap and it felt like it didn’t touch the sides to be honest.

Now I’m back at work and can’t sleep that much and struggling. Contemplating telling my boss early as I’m struggling to deal with it

Totally agree, but for some reason logic seems to go out the window!

Said before I went that I’d be happy to see a healthy baby plus heartbeat, which lasted all of five seconds for some reason!

I’m fairly certain of my ovulation date, but a few days here and there it could be, plus likely that the measurements aren’t all that accurate so early. Not sure why a few days worry me so much, but my anxious brain just won’t switch it off

We were also looking into the harmony test, but didn't know whether to wait for a bit to see what happens on the NHS.

I know in some areas if you are high risk they maybe offer it to you via the NHS, and the test itself is quite expensive!

Can't really put a price on reassurance though

Onedayatatime24 · 06/06/2023 22:28

@suz2285 @Lilothblos @Mushroo glad I'm not the only one doing absolutely nothing at work at the min!

I'm not getting the tuna memo 🤮 one my more annoying symptoms is that I want to eat but never fancy anything! The thought of anything makes my stomach turn, not at all getting on DH nerves... 👀

Lilothblos · 06/06/2023 22:28

@Firsttimerugbymum yep I’m pretty sure that the NHS offers it for free to anyone who has a high risk score following the combined tests they do. For us we just wanted to know a bit sooner and NIPT is more accurate. It is pretty expensive though so I’ve tried to justify it to myself as includes a scan and gender confirmation and otherwise I’d probably be paying for private scans at 10weeks (before telling family) and 16weeks (for gender) anyway!

Salamander91 · 06/06/2023 23:35

@Firsttimerugbymum it's hard to get accurate measurements that early. I had a scan at 7+3 and was measuring 6+5. I had another scan at 9+1 and was measuring 9 weeks exactly.

Mummyme87 · 07/06/2023 07:33

@Muriel84 I think progesterone affects gastric so maybe increased heartburn/nausea/reflux/constipation.

urgh back on the school run today, need to get up but 🤢 and then bloody pizza express school trip. Need to take a plastic bag in my pocket!!

8weeks today! Got a scan next Wednesday, and my booking next Friday

Dancingqueen91 · 07/06/2023 08:32

@Firsttimerugbymum the exact same thing happened to me when I went for my private scan at 8+2 they dated me 7+2 but there is actually no way that I could have been that - I then had my midwife appointment yesterday and she dated me at what I’d thought so I guess I’ll have to see when I get my 12 week scan which should be in 2 weeks but not heard anything yet 🤞🏼

barebears · 07/06/2023 08:55

Hi everyone!

Just wanted to join in too🙂
I am 7+6 today i think (i have slightly irregular periods) and Ive got my first midwife appointment next week. My first scan won't be until july! Im a little worried it's so far away..

Ive been quite an anxious googler(from foods to symptoms) so Im hoping that joining this thread of people going through the same things will ease it a little😅

MrsJ6921 · 07/06/2023 09:36

I have my booking appointment today! It was meant to be last week however having to reschedule due to work and the midwife cancelling once I’m having it at 9+2 ☺️

buckingmad · 07/06/2023 09:39

Has anyone given birth/been pregnant at different trusts? We moved (husband is army) between having our first and now pregnant with second and I was just wondering if all my notes will be available for them to see easily or will it be a case of requesting them from the previous trust?

Gremlin84 · 07/06/2023 11:03

7+5 here, first pregnancy. So far not vommed, but definite waves of nausea the last couple of weeks, which the prenatal vitamins are making worse I think. Might do what I've seen others suggest and just stick to Vit D and folic acid as separates - still eating a pretty balanced diet so not worried about iron etc.

Got booking appt tomorrow morning - according to letter they think my due date is 9/1 but the NHS calculation which includes cycle length (which is long - 35 days) suggests 19/1.

Doesn't seem 100% real yet, I wouldn't say I'm properly excited...despite being planned the reality of "I'm pregnant" is a bit different to "let's try for a baby"! Hubby is still freaking a little, while I've now got used to the idea pretty much after initially being really overwhelmed and scared.

suz2285 · 07/06/2023 11:16

@barebears welcome! Lots of anxious Googlers in here 😂

@Gremlin84 yeah totally with you on doesn't feel real, esp for the husbands! I think it's easier for us to feel it as it's happening to us, for them it's not real until way later on I think 😂

I’m in a similar situation (have given birth at two different hospitals and this will be a third). My experience has been that they haven’t automatically sent over notes. I did ask for them to track down my notes from baby number 1 as I had a c-section and I seem to remember it took months. I’d work on the basis that you need to tell them everything and that they won’t necessarily have access to your original notes.

Eirlys1986 · 07/06/2023 11:34

@Muriel84 great news about your scan, I am glad mine is the day after our holiday as that’s definitely distracting from the build upto it significantly.
mum sorry you are feeling horrendous, it’s just so hard not to feel your best whilst trying to manage a toddler. Big love 💕 x

buckingmad · 07/06/2023 11:40

@Panapan thank you, good to know. I wouldn't mind a bit of a debrief about my birth as the pethidine really wiped me out and then I had continuous contractions (back to back and on the drip and baby got stuck so ended up with EMCS). I'd really like to go over it with someone in the know just so I feel a bit more prepared for this one as I would love a VBAC.

Definitely not doing pethidine this time. Didn't agree with me whereas my Mum loved it!

Mummyme87 · 07/06/2023 12:03

@buckingmad they have to request them. And will only do so if a need to see the notes, if there was something that happened like difficult surgery.

the dates thing I wouldn’t get too worried about. It’s rarely exactly what you think as the embryo develops at different rates for everyone. I know my dates were further than what the nhs website said as I ovulated CD12 therefore cycle length would only have been 24days for me that cycle. It’s otherwise all based on a 28day cycle ovulating on CD14. It’s all finalised at your nuchal scan which is the best and most accurate time to date a pregnancy

Mummyme87 · 07/06/2023 12:05

@buckingmad i had pethidine both times. First time I hallucinated, pain was excruciating and I felt like I couldn’t move. Second time I needed something to rest so had it and was great, I slept standing up for an hour

buckingmad · 07/06/2023 12:09

@Mummyme87 Yeah I did have a quick nap as soon as it kicked in but then sadly shortly after that the hormone drip kicked in too and contractions woke me up 😅I think it was just unfortunate set of circumstances for me. I really needed to relax and probably move positions to help the pressure in my back but I was so spaced out from the pethidine then in so much pain I didn't feel like I could move without falling over. Once I got the gas and air and the pethidine wore off a bit I could breathe through it and then my magical epidural arrived 😄

I would definitely get an epidural again if baby was back to back again. But if not then I'd like to try without as I def feel better for moving around. I didn't have a tens machine last time but adding it to my list this time. Really wanted to get in the water last time but couldn't because of the drip etc. Fingers crossed for this time.
