@LeeanneD11 nhs websites, tommys etc all say from 28 weeks, even then they say not to stress about it as even the increased risk is still very low:
https://www.tommys.org/pregnancy-information/im-pregnant/sleep-side/sleep-position-pregnancy-qa

Thank you I'm just a very anxious person and I think that's why I'm not sleeping well either I'm struggling so much to sleep on my side as I'm getting uncomfortable x

LilmissCa · 30/05/2023 21:59

@38andtrying so glad your scan went well & baby is all good. I had an anterior placenta in my last pregnancy, didn't feel kicks till about 21wks & they kept an eye to make sure the placenta moved enough for normal labour.

@Hopewishprayer hope your scan went well also

WhiteJasmin · 30/05/2023 22:00

@Marvelmommy I did a blood test at around 10 weeks (NIPT) which tested the baby for chromosome defects as well as the gender. They say the test is 99% accurate at the clinic for the gender. Not sure if it's something you want to do for reassurance.

spanglesj · 31/05/2023 07:05

@Marvelmommy personally I would ring the place you had it done and express your concerns as they will be able to tell you how sure they were or weren’t at that particular scan, having just had mine they said it all depends on how developed baby is and the position they are in on the day. If they are helpful it could be all you need to know for sure. And if they were in any doubt they could let you come back anyway. I’m sure they will want a happy customer! My scan place said 97pc accurate so it is very unlikely it will be wrong if yours is the same. But 3 in 100 means yes there will certainly be stories out there lurking on the interwebs! xx

spanglesj · 31/05/2023 07:08

For what it’s worth I always forget calling to ask is an option but totally a right we have - I just got a letter telling me I’m going to be under consultat care as requested by the midwife, but she didn’t even tell me that at the appt! My mate just said call and ask why. Made me realise how we do have a right to ask questions even if we think they are silly! X

Travellingislife · 31/05/2023 07:19

@38andtrying aw glad you got reassurance and saw a wriggly baby.
I had an anterior placenta with my DS and I think I didn’t start to feel movements until week 22-24.
At my 12 week scan they said they think I’ve got it again and so far I’ve not felt anything. I can’t wait for it!

PilarG · 31/05/2023 09:38

@WhiteJasmin I just did a DPNI Test (which I believe is the same as NIPT) here in France....
I am 14 weeks
I had no idea it can detect the gender of the baby....

WhiteJasmin · 31/05/2023 10:02

@PilarG on my test they asked clearly upfront if I want to know since they will be scanning for the chromosomes.

MeganC104 · 31/05/2023 13:59

Just got my baby blood time results back and baby is predicted to be rhesus neg!

My son was positive and I was told it was super likely this baby would be positive too so really surprised. No anti d for me 😁

FlyingHighFlyingLow · 31/05/2023 14:25

How quick did people get their combined test result back if you did it? It's been almost 2 weeks and I just rang the midwife and they said result isn't available yet.

TMI2000 · 31/05/2023 16:13

@FlyingHighFlyingLow did you get yours at your 12 week scan?
if so, I had mine on the Friday and the results were back on Monday, I was told it could take 3-5 working days but took 1! I think I was just super lucky though!

FlyingHighFlyingLow · 31/05/2023 17:42

@TMI2000 yep, 12 week scan almost 2 weeks ago!

I think it was less than a week for me but I remember last time it took ages to the point that I’d almost forgotten I was waiting for it!

Are you in an area where your maternity notes are in an app? My results showed up in there a few days before I got the letter in the post.

Nothing on maternity notes or GP. Called the midwives and they're saying they aren't available yet - as in they don't even have the result 2 weeks later to send me the letter. They've already screwed up a lot so far, for example they managed to lose my booking appointment bloods and scan referral, didn't tell me until I rang over 2 weeks later asking what's going on at which point had to rush me in for repeats!

Guess I'm just scared I'm going to find out they've lost them again and I'm too far along to redo.

Hopewishprayer · 01/06/2023 07:16

@FlyingHighFlyingLow try not to worry IF they have lost them there is second trimester screening that can be done instead x

Mrsrobinsonx · 01/06/2023 08:08

@MeganC104 how long did it take to come back? I have my blood test today to check, I hope my baby is negative too so no injection for me 🤣 won’t be likely with my luck!

FlyingHighFlyingLow · 01/06/2023 08:35

There is, but the combined test is 90% accurate, quad test after 14 weeks is only 75% accurate and only tests for downs rather than all 3. It's a poor comparison if they've fucked up again!

TMI2000 · 01/06/2023 09:17

@FlyingHighFlyingLow I would ask the midwives to chase it up with the lab, if they refuse, ask for the number and see if you can chase them! Might just be they are incredibly backdated but either way it's a joke to be waiting over 2 weeks for the result!

Is anybody else really struggling at this inbetween stage where I have very little symptoms but not feeling any movements yet and I am just struggling to believe everything is okay because I just don't have much to reassure me. I have a private scan on Tuesday but that feels so long away!

PinkPlantCase · 01/06/2023 09:52

@TMI2000 I’m enjoying it tbh 😂 it’s nice to have some energy back and be able to do things other than the basic eat, work, sleep.

I’m very happy to let my body crack on with growing the baby without it impacting me too much. All too soon there’ll be a giant bump and our hips will ache, sleeping will be difficult and there’ll be all of the faff about growth charts and percentiles and worry about baby’s position.

Now that we’ve got to this point the chance of miscarriage is really very low. Try and enjoy the second trimester if you can!

MeganC104 · 01/06/2023 10:08

@Mrsrobinsonx almost 2 weeks. My midwife did say it would take while. Ive been reading stats and it's apparently 1 in 3 chance of being neg. If it predicts neg, there's only a 0.1% the test is wrong. However if it predicts positive there's a 2% chance it could be wrong. Which I thought was interesting.

Sb86 · 01/06/2023 10:26

Just come back from my 16 week app (I'm 17+1) and they don't even check baby's heartbeat routinely where I am anymore. They go off movements, which I kind of understand because my son had a heartbeat but wasn't moving and had to be delivered at 31+5. Could easily think oh there's a heartbeat everything is OK but obviously that isn't the case. Just would have been nice to hear it that's all, she said I could ask to hear it at the next app at 28 weeks 🥴😫 come away feeling a bit disheartened. Never mind...just under 3 weeks til 20 week scan 🥰

Travellingislife · 01/06/2023 10:26

@TMI2000 I find it hard and I’m getting increasingly anxious about getting bad news on my 20 week scan. I know the risk of something being wrong at the 20 week scan is small but 2 of my friends had babies with heart problems and that wasn’t detected until this scan. 2.5 weeks to go, I hope they pass quickly.

CliniMama · 01/06/2023 10:27

@TMI2000 I wish!
I randomly have huge bouts of exhaustion but apparently around 15 weeks baby has a growth spurt.
I’ve got a hen do, weddings, trips abroad and Glastonbury festival ahead and I literally can’t get out of bed at times! Hoping that bit eases up.
That being said, I know what you mean, I’m quite excited at the thought of feeling baby kick. Have just seen signs of the linea negra which again is making this all feel very real!

Sb86 · 01/06/2023 10:29

@Travellingislife yeah I'm the same, it's another hurdle isn't it. I'm petrified I'm going to get bad news, when the midwife was writing down app for 28week it felt surreal as my head won't allow myself to believe I'll get to that point. I was never this worried in my other pregnancies but I was a lot younger, I do think I worry more in general now I'm older.
