Thanks everyone, I had another phone call with my midwife and she said looking over my notes it's a lot and has requested a review with a consultant to see if there is anything they can do. Maybe nothing, maybe more checks on baby for my sanity, maybe better explanation of the risks to the baby. Who knows but I hope it helps.

Are you sure you need to start early @Spareincoming ? You're entitled to reasonable adjustments and I'd say not working with violent pupils is one!

Spareincoming · 18/07/2023 19:04

@FlyingHighFlyingLow They’re all significant risk pupils; that’s my gig, but I am happy to finish then!

I’m a rolling contract anyways and as I was assaulted at 7 1/2 months pregnant last time I was beginning to feel anxious about it. My boss was in the same line team as me at another provision during that pregnancy so knows the back story and we’d discussed it before the summer hols started and this is a variation on a previous suggestion!

reememberly · 18/07/2023 19:40

Welcome @YellowJoggers - I was 24wks yesterday.

@FlyingHighFlyingLow That really is a lot to deal with - hope they’re able to give you some extra support. Someone close to me had a really extreme case of placenta previa and I know she found the bleeds terrifying. V happy ending to that story though, despite the awful time they went through. Is your placenta completely covering the cervix or is there any hope it might move more clear of it as the pregnancy progresses?

LeeanneD11 · 18/07/2023 19:43

21 weeks with a anterior placenta and I've felt some strong movements now for the last couple of days,

Hope everyone else has that has a anterior placenta like me have you started to feel many move more xx

FlyingHighFlyingLow · 18/07/2023 19:54

@reememberly I'm glad to hear of a happy ending! It's on my cervix but not quite enough to cover the opening if that makes sense? Could still move but we shall see!

@Spareincoming glad you're happy and worked out what's best for you

@LeeanneD11 glad you're feeling kicks now! Although I have the previa it is posterior so I do get a lot of movements sometimes and my DH has been able to feel (and see) them for a couple weeks.

LeeanneD11 · 18/07/2023 21:28

@FlyingHighFlyingLow

My partner has felt him move a few times , I feel more summersaults then kicks haha 😂 it's amazing to feel them tho so much reassurance which is lovely , hope your well?

Anyone suffering with heartburn I'm suffering so much I'm struggling to eat most foods & fruit settles it a little lol 😂 xx

Crazybrowncow · 19/07/2023 05:01

@FlyingHighFlyingLow that's really rough, I'm sorry you're dealing with this, fingers crossed it stretches round a bit.
Don't worry about buying stuff at this stage, you really don't need it. Just baby grows, nappies & cotton wool, car seat and Moses/bassinet, which you can get nearer the time.

@LeeanneD11 the heartburn is real! It's miserable when it keeps you awake at night too. They say eating smaller and often helps. Although when it's most foods it's just whenever you eat!

I plan to finish on November 6, but have two wks AL prior to that.

JoyApple · 19/07/2023 05:08

Hi all, is anyone getting severe side/back pain when sleeping? I'm convinced it's our hard new mattress but can't be sure. It is so sore, I'm on the sofa trying to sleep ...

Rebs23 · 19/07/2023 10:17

@JoyApple that sounds awful! I was having bad hip pain and found one of these wedge type pillows has been a game changer. I really like the support directly under my bump/side and it supports my back too. I also feel reassured that when I roll onto my back in my sleep I’m not actually flat on my back!

in terms of Mat leave I’m doing similar to others - taking 2 weeks annual leave so going off at 38 weeks (last day October 31st) but my mat pay etc will kick in on my estimate due date. I have an office job though so it’s not intensive at all however I am surprised at how much back pain etc I’m experiencing from sitting at a desk all day! So I might decide to take go off sooner nearer the time.

Is anyone talking of names yet? We are expecting a boy late October and I'm trying to predict what names will be rising in popularity this year.

YellowJoggers · 19/07/2023 14:17

I've found DarkGreener is a great resource to help gauge name popularity.

GreenAventurine · 19/07/2023 17:40

I think we have a name. Typically I’ve noticed it a lot since deciding on it, and I don’t want a common name. I don’t mind a used name though.

LeeanneD11 · 19/07/2023 17:42

I've had a name since 16 weeks and it's just set on me , and my kids love the name too I'm hoping he comes out looking like the name we've picked lol 😂 this one has a strong meaning to me so that's why I've chosen it . Xx

Katiec1 · 19/07/2023 17:46

We’ve also decided on a name for our little girl. It’s an unusual name but hoping that no one that we know that’s also due girls around the same time as us chose it too🙈😂

What name have you thought off xx

GreenAventurine · 19/07/2023 18:11

We’ve chosen Violet Kate (Kate being her middle name after both her aunties so she will just go by Violet really).
I love it. I love nature and I think flower names are really pretty on girls, but all the other flower names seem a bit common now even though I love them (Rosa, Daisy).
I liked Heidi, but I’ve really gone off it (found out there’s a night club in Cardiff called Heidi’s).
I love Trixie but Dad is having none of it 😂.

I don’t mind that Violet is used… I just don’t want it over used you know.

What have you guys chosen?

My little girl wanted daisy if we had a girl , and my partner loved the name heidi but I've got a sister called Heidi also so was very tricky , I did have Freya for a girl as loved the name so much since finding out - but found out we was having a boy so we've chosen Brody - it's means strong as we've been through so much in this pregnancy and also means second son , as I have a son & daughter already . So it was perfect name to choose xx

Katiec1 · 19/07/2023 18:32

@LeeanneD11 we’ve chosen Thea (Grace middle name) it’s not a name we’ve heard a lot of so hoping it stays that way 😂😂
Brody is a lovely name, with a strong meaning behind it for you.

Thank you!! Love your name and middle name to goes lovely together, don't often hear that name so it's nice to have a unique name . Xx

GreenAventurine · 19/07/2023 18:34

Thea and Brody are lovely names x

GreenAventurine · 19/07/2023 18:42

Are you all still taking prenatals?

PinkPlantCase · 19/07/2023 18:55

No just vitamin D if I don’t get outside. We’re probably having meat a bit more often though and making sure I have lots of fruit and veg.

DollyGx · 19/07/2023 22:11

Lovely names ladies! We are still struggling to find a girls name we both agree on 😬 @GreenAventurine no I’m the same as @PinkPlantCase just taking vitamin d, although I’ve recently been put on iron tablets because of a low lying placenta.

Mimi2022 · 20/07/2023 01:21

@DollyGx what iron tablets are you ok? Is it the sulphate ones or the fumarate ones? How are you tolerating them? I need to find a good iron supplement
