@LeeanneD11 we had a gender scan at 17 weeks. The place I went to does them from 16 weeks onwards, the way I seen it was we could at least have that and then we have the 20 week one coming up anyway to confirm it. As Clinimama says it can just depend on baby’s position and whether they play ball on the day! The place I went to though offers another free scan if they can’t tell the first time

Ok perfect , the long wait is terrible lol 😂 the one I've been looking at is window to the womb , my sister went to one and they got it right for her at 16 week one and 20 week one xx

Spareincoming · 11/06/2023 21:24

Evening all. We’ve got the 20
week scan this week then we’re telling the DC.
Not sure what to say or whether to reviews the sex of the baby to them! Eek!

TMI2000 · 12/06/2023 08:33

@LeeanneD11 I went to Window to the Womb last Tuesday, I was 16+1, I went on the recommendation of my sister in law who has been for her last 4 and it was always right!
They told me a boy and from my scan picture I think they are definitely right! 😂But then all of my sisters were boys too so I think they are easier to identify.

Feeling the same, 16 weeks tomorrow!

Definitely looking like I've eaten all the cake now 🙈, really defined bulge low beneath my belly button. 16 week appointment this week and they said they will use doppler to listen to baby which reassures me a lot. Then 3 week wait until my scan.

I keep saying after next thing I'll be reassured though. First it was 10 week private scan, then 12 week scan ok, now its the 16 week doppler, next it will be the 20 week scan etc 😂 i do think I'll be more reassured when definite movement but probably just wishful thinking!

38andtrying · 12/06/2023 11:34

@FlyingHighFlyingLow im exactly the same, i promise myself after this scan etc ill relax, i do feel content maybe for a week tops and then doubt slips in again

you are lucky they will use doppler at your midwife appointment, mine wouldn't do it :( that will be a great reaasurance you for

i am counting down the days until the 27th June and super nervous at the same time, i have said if all ok at 20 weeks scan i can start thinking about names and stuff

LeeanneD11 · 12/06/2023 11:41

I'm 16 weeks today , and my bump is defo there . No hiding anymore . I'm feeling rubbish in myself . Suffering with hayfever & complications too so making it harder to enjoy it I'm off to a private scan today and hopefully find out the gender . I've got no cravings or symptoms in this one

Has anyone got any cravings or just a easy pregnancy with nothing at all xx

Rebs23 · 12/06/2023 12:57

@38andtrying my 20 week scan is also the 27th June, fingers crossed for us both! 😊

GemmaJen · 12/06/2023 13:03

@FlyingHighFlyingLow I'm 20w and the movement has been the most reasuring thing, after mcs and mh issues I was an anxious mess. But now feeling movement throughout the day, and bh which are so much more uncomfortable than with my first. It's all feeling much more real.

2 scans this week, one is the 20w scan, and hoping to find out sex. We'll be telling our 4 year old too, so that should be interesting 🙈

And most definitely popped, I've started wearing my anti stretch mark band (was great with my daughter), I just feel huge! Im hoping to continue competing in sports for another 10 weeks, but feeling so huge now I'm worried I won't be able to 😕

Katiec1 · 12/06/2023 13:28

Hey @38andtrying ☺️I suppose the only bit of advice I could give to keep your mind off it is to keep busy with other things, I know it’s much easier said than done though😔
I’m 17+3 today and finally have felt a couple of little flutters today. Was not expecting it as I have an anterior placenta but it is my 3rd pregnancy so i dunno if maybe that makes a difference. But it has put my mind at ease.
God pregnancy can be such an up and down rollercoaster ride for us ladies😕
anyone else in maternity pants yet or is it just me 🙈 I feel huge on this one 😳🙈
hope everyone is doing ok!

Rebs2 · 12/06/2023 13:55

I'm 16+1 and in the same "am I even pregnant" boat. There's definitely a bump but I otherwise feel pretty normal. I hate this inbetweeny stage! Three weeks til my next scan, hoping to have felt movement by then!

PinkPlantCase · 12/06/2023 14:06

I’m 17 weeks today and enjoy this in between stage! I do feel the occasional movement though and I guess that helps. But I also know that baby still has lots of room so it doesn’t matter if I don’t feel movements very often.

I am perfectly happy to let my body carry on growing the baby without too much bother to me 😂

The vast majority of pregnancies especially ones that get past the first trimester go well, there are variations of normal but on the whole things generally work out just fine 🙂

GemmaJen · 12/06/2023 14:09

Is there a Facebook group?

DollyGx · 12/06/2023 14:43

@GemmaJen is the anti-stretch mark band like one of these pregnancy support belt thingys?? I’ve heard they’re really good!

GemmaJen · 12/06/2023 14:55

@DollyGx its a special support band that comes with a gel from Secret Saviours. (there are a couple of cheaper brand new ones on vinted atm as they are expensive) I was huge with my daughter, she was 10lb and I gained 20kg 🙈 but didn't get any stretch marks on my stomach. I got a few on my legs and I have some from my teenage years on my hips, so I'm definititely prone. So I do believe the band did it's job.

Spareincoming · 12/06/2023 16:06

Well I’ve just had my 20 week scan, a few days earlier than planned.
There was a violent incident at work today and I rang the unit for advice, they offered to check me over; my boss told me to go for his reassurance if not my own; so off I toddled. On arrival the lovely midwife - she was my community midwife with the last DC - said if I was happy to have a trainee sonographer observe I could have my 20 week scan this afternoon instead of coming back later this week. Result! DH was working locally and could come in and DC are in nursery today, unlike on my booked appointment day so it’s worked beautifully!

The scan has further confirmed the initially suspected stuff is happening but we’ve had time to process and know it is something we can cope with as a family and make necessary adjustments for.

Now to tell DC! @GemmaJen I can thoroughly recommend the book “let’s talk to mummy’s tummy” for your 4 year old!

GemmaJen · 12/06/2023 16:33

@Spareincoming sorry you've had to deal with issues at work today, but glad there was a silver lining with the scan. Good luck with telling the DC. How do you think they'll be?

Thanks for the book suggestion, I will look it up. My daughter is a bit if a firecracker, I suspect she'll be happy but then have some big feelings that come out later. She's very stubborn - we still get some epic meltdowns with her, so it's been challenging over the last 12 weeks as I've not been able to pick her up or help her through things in the sane way. Adjusting to life with a sibling is going to be challenging for her 😬

Psqueak87 · 12/06/2023 20:15

Just had my 19 week scan, all looked good. They confirmed I have an anterior placenta which explains why I’ve had no feelings of movement yet. Everything was measuring pretty much bang on, apart from extra long arms measuring ahead!

It was cool to see her again, and they confirmed what the NIPT testing said and she’s deffo a girl!

I had a 16 week scan today too! Confirmed same anterior placenta but it's not all at the front it's titled a little but I will feel more movements on the side but baby was laying across my stomach and confirmed a little boy wasn't shy at all and measuring all good glad your scan went well

And congratulations on a little princess 💕💕

spanglesj · 12/06/2023 21:17

Gorgeous photos @Psqueak87 and congrats! Also good for you to know about your placenta did they say when you’re more likely to begin feeling her? And congrats to you too @LeeanneD11 on your lovely scan today and little boy x

Psqueak87 · 12/06/2023 21:28

@spanglesj they didn’t actually say anything today about when I should expect to feel her. My OBGYN told me last week that I should start feeling movements at 18 weeks, but if I had an anterior placenta it could be 21-22 weeks before I feel anything. So I’m hoping it’s soon!

@LeeanneD11 congrats on your scan too! ❤️

LeeanneD11 · 12/06/2023 21:29

Thank you @spanglesj & @Psqueak87 💙💙

BabyBabyBaby123 · 13/06/2023 08:49

I’m 18 weeks today and I am off work this week with dizziness and general meh feeling. I went to the doctor yesterday as I felt very woozy in work and in a job where I’m on my feet a lot I am struggling with the dizziness. I have also come out in a rash over my chest and back and have a cold sore, which I very rarely get. She said she thinks I’m run down and the heat isn’t helping and advised me to self certify for the rest of the week and if I need a sick note beyond then that she will give me one. I’m just hoping the rest will make me feel better. I’m able to drink more fluids at home too, as I can only go to the toilet at break times in work, so hoping upping my fluid levels will help with the dizziness. I feel so soft being off for this reason, but the doctor was adamant that I need to look after myself before I make myself feel worse, so I am taking her advice and told work today that I won’t be back until at least Monday. I still feel guilty though … I had absolutely no issues like this in my other two pregnancies!
