Hello 😁

Is there a thread for babies due February 2024 yet? I've just got my positive, although super early so not getting too excited.

Due 1 Feb / 31 Jan. I had irregular periods so hard to pinpoint exactly.

Hope to have others join me soon :) x

@Meeting Thank you - My bleeding stopped overnight anyway, so I was only bleeding two days but I think I’m just clutching at straws, I’m so devastated :( x

Hi everyone,

I’m new the to site. I tested positive a couple of weeks ago and I’m around 7 weeks now, due Feb 8th 2024 according to the app I’m using but still haven’t seen a midwife. It’s my first pregnancy and I’m so excited and nervous! Congratulations to you all ❤️

moosey89 · 22/06/2023 21:12

Hi @Ebonythoughts welcome! Don't worry that you've not seen a midwife yet, most booking appointments happen between 8-10 weeks (sometimes later). Have you filled in the self-referral to your local hospital?

Ebonythoughts · 22/06/2023 21:17

Thank you! Not yet. We just moved house so I’ve only just registered at a new GP and have my first appointment with the doctor next Friday when I’ll be 8 weeks. I think from there they’ll refer me on. I do also have a private scan booked for next Saturday because I’m anxious and want to make sure everything is ok (I don’t think I can wait 12 weeks). I’m not sure about the self-referral process.

I’ve got all the usual symptoms of nausea, exhaustion, sore breasts and strong sense of smell but horrible headaches kicked in a few days ago and I’m trying not to take any painkillers for me because I don’t like tablets. I just find I’m wanting to sleep all the time and it’s starting to affect my mood. I hope the symptoms settle soon.

moosey89 · 22/06/2023 21:21

If you google 'maternity unit [your town]' most places now self refer, and the GP will just point you towards a form you fill in yourself. Being honest, most GPs don't really have anything to do with pregnancy care now. Might save you some time 😀
I'm having an early scan too, in a week, I didn't want to wait until 12 weeks either. Only caution I would give is that a scan is only a snapshot of how things are in that moment and can't predict what may happen afterwards, but I still find it reassuring to know how things are progressing x

Danni33 · 22/06/2023 22:26

I went to my doctors as soon as I found out and they didn’t refer me either, they just told me I needed to refer myself. I heard back within a day and was prescribed folic acid tablets. Also have my appointment with them when I think I will be 8 weeks.

Ebonythoughts · 23/06/2023 00:07

@moosey89 ah I didn’t know, thank you. I’ll look up my nearest maternity unit tomorrow and ask. I definitely understand about the scan being a snapshot too, my sister had two miscarriages and warned that the scan can’t guarantee anything. Like you said I think it’s just for my own peace of mind that things are going ok so far.

@Danni33 yes I started on folic acid as soon as I found out and I think I was just under 5 weeks at the time. I’m also anaemic and struggle to take iron supplements at the best of times so I know the doctor will probably say I need to take this too as well.

moosey89 · 23/06/2023 08:40

@Ebonythoughts no worries - I did the same when I got pregnant first time then the GP was so unhelpful 🤣
Here's to healthy pregnancies, hope your scan goes well x

HopeAndStrength · 23/06/2023 08:46

Yep me too @Ebonythoughts @moosey89 - I got to my GP appointment and they were really surprised that I'd booked to see them, they just said to take folic acid and phone midwife myself.

Mummapenguin20 · 23/06/2023 10:04

if my app is correct we’re due 28th feb with baby 4. After baby 3 I said no no no more. And here I am x

Rachae · 23/06/2023 10:06

@Mummapenguin20 4! What an inspo. Congratulations 👏 Please send me all tips on how you look after multiple children 🤣. I'm more than freaking out about possibly having 2 under 2 and how to cope with leaving the house! Xc

Mummapenguin20 · 23/06/2023 10:16

Honestly after one I just found it easier. I have 14 dd. 10dd. Then had 8 miscarriages and 2ds now number 4 has mad his/herself known. Im keeping fingers crossed all goes well this time of not im getting sterilised!

GeriatricMumma · 23/06/2023 10:52

@Mummapenguin20 welcome!

I'm also expecting number 4!
Unplanned and a bit of a shock but happy

Mummapenguin20 · 23/06/2023 11:02

Glad I’m not alone lol. My mum died in March and my nan told me I’d be pregnant by December (I done the same after my grandad died) so I’m blaming mum and nan haha x

GeriatricMumma · 23/06/2023 11:13

Oh bless you! Sorry for your loss x

Mummapenguin20 · 23/06/2023 11:44

Fingers crossed I get through the next 7 1/2 weeks x

LalalaBubs · 23/06/2023 15:22

I threw my back out today, the pain is horrific and I cant stand up straight
The GP prescribed my Naproxen and Co-Codamol but I've heard some scary stories about taking Naproxen especially in early pregnancy.

Anyone with any advice? Im thinking if the GP has prescribed then surely it should be ok?

I cant take the pain much longer and paracetamol just isnt touching it😭

mumtotwox · 23/06/2023 16:55

Hope everyone is ok. I've booked a private scan for the 7th of July 😍

moosey89 · 23/06/2023 16:58

@mumtotwox that's exciting! How far along will you be?

@LalalaBubs I'm assuming you mentioned you're pregnant to him? I'm super cautious about any medications because of previous loss (just paranoid, won't even take safe antihistamines if I can help it just in case). Any way you could see how it is in the morning and make a decision? Sometimes being able to sleep, and let the muscles fully relax can help take away a heap of the pain. My ex used to put his back out all the time and he had to do breathing exercises laid on the floor to try and relax the muscles x

mumtotwox · 23/06/2023 16:59

@moosey89 I'll be almost 8 weeks! Hope you're getting on ok 🥰

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 23/06/2023 17:12

@LalalaBubs it's tricky. He knows you're pregnant and it'll he short term use? It seems it's trimester three that both of those can't be used. If you're unsure, could whoever is Cole ring your medicine go and speak to the pharmacist? They've been great when I've had questions before

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 23/06/2023 17:13

*collecting

Hope you feel better soon

Soph2512 · 23/06/2023 19:15

Evening ladies.

had anyone has brown discharge/ light bleeding around 5 weeks? I have just started and obviously feel like it’s the end again ☹️

LalalaBubs · 23/06/2023 19:24

@moosey89 Im the same, feeling very unsure about taking anything!
@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 Thanks for this advice, DH asked the pharmacist who wasnt very confident about the naproxen but seemed to think that co codamol would be ok for me to take so I think I'll just to that when the pain is unbearable and otherwise try to rest!

(As much as I can with a 3yr old and 18mnth old to tend to🤣😭)
