@Landsmen completely normal to be prescribed aspirin. I'm not sure if increases chances of bleeding it just makes your blood thinner. If you are hesitant though call your GP it's your choice but very common to take

Flowers90 · 16/05/2023 15:14

I had my booking appt this morning. Nhs calculator was putting me at 7 weeks 5 days with a due date of 28th December due to a 30 day cycle. Midwife has put me at 8 weeks due date of 26th Dec but wasn't fussed about my cycle having been 30 days and said that didn't matter. Be interesting to see what scan dates me at.

DaisyMay25 · 16/05/2023 16:05

@Flowers90 oh that's interesting! I'm the opposite to you I have 26 days cycles so it brings me forward 2 days, EPU was in line with this too so I guess what will be said next week! Going by lmp without cycle length EDD is 28/12 but it should be 26/12, we'll see what our dating scans say

Oldermum84 · 16/05/2023 16:17

@Landsmen yes I have to take 150mcg aspirin from 12 weeks due to previous small baby. Apparently I should have taken it during my last pregnancy due to low papp-a! It improves the blood flow from the placenta. I think any risks are low.

I had my booking In appointment today with my midwife, she wasn’t best pleased I’ve got a private scan on Thursday, she said they are money making schemes. I said I just want to see there’s something there 👶🏻

Mushroo · 16/05/2023 16:29

@midnights0 thats so frustrating! I personally find it insane that the booking appointment happens before there’s a scan - what if something has gone wrong and you’ve had a whole conversation about a non-viable pregnancy.

I understand the financial pressures the NHS is under but I truly think more ultrasounds should be offered.

It’s a good job she isn’t my midwife, I’m quite opinionated 😂.

I hope it was all good apart from that!

As shit as it is some of them unfortunatley are! I went to a really good place, they were phenomenal and really helped me as I'd been so worried. They refuse to do scans under 8 weeks and were really thorough in pointing everything out, sent me pictures and videos. Had me get up and move about to try get it to shift into an easier position to get a good look.

I have friends that went elsewhere and they weren't good. Scanned them when they thought they were for example 6+4 transabdominally, obviously saw very little and just said well you might have miscarried I'd contact your GP and turfed them out. They were in pieces thinking they'd lost their baby, went to GP then EPU, vaginal scan showed their dates were off by a few days, another scan a couple weeks later and happy baby with a heartbeat. Paid £80 for the privilege of 2 weeks of anxiety and heartbreak.

When the private scan places get it wrong (because some are not qualified!) those midwives are the ones that deal with the devastated parents.

Flowers90 · 16/05/2023 16:51

@DaisyMay25 . That's interesting, I'll be interested to see what date I'm given after dating scan. Either way sounds like we are both due at a very similar time!

Re3 · 16/05/2023 17:33

@45mummy my mum was the same age when she had my little sister, I was 18 when she was born, we always refer as I’m her second mum, she lives with me right now, she’s 12.

try not to worry, my mum thought the exact same too, but my sister was meant to be ❤️ congratulations 🥳 xx

ThomasinaLivesHere · 16/05/2023 17:39

@FlyingHighFlyingLow Yes it’s a shame how some clinics act. There was an article in the bbc private clinics a few years ago and it was really eye opening for what goes on with some of them. I think like you say some just fuel unnecessary anxiety.

99SR · 16/05/2023 18:28

@Mushroo i completely agree with you RE booking app. The whole way through mine yesterday I just kept thinking what if this is a pointless task? I actually found it quite triggering since I have had a previous MMC and kept thinking of the what ifs? I would prefer it to be after the initial scan, but hey what do I know lol!

Mushroo · 16/05/2023 18:31

@99SR exactly - it doesn’t fit well with my paranoid nature at all 😂

Clucket87 · 16/05/2023 19:05

I'm feeling a bit sorry for myself tonight.
I feel sick and I'm knackered. I'm doing everything I can to keep working at my normal level and looking after my toddler.
Husband has a headache (which is rare for him) and he is still going to do the tea, wash up, make lunches and do ironing and I'm just feeling a bit useless. But also don't want to say anything to him when he's working hard to.
I forgot how hormones and feeling poorly took over!

wannabemum38 · 16/05/2023 19:07

@99SR it does seem a bit backward. I thought that as had my booking appointment last week then ended up thinking I was losing baby at weekend while have been heartbreaking and pointless.

JC89 · 16/05/2023 20:13

@midnights0 It seems odd that they don't like you to have a private scan when you can't get an NHS one... If you find it reassuring go for it! I had one at 8 weeks and was relieved to see there was something there. I had a miscarriage last year - baby stopped growing at 5 weeks but I didn't find out until my NHS scan at 13 weeks so this time around I didn't have much confidence that my body would know if something had gone wrong. I mentioned this at my booking appointment and they did say they couldn't offer any additional scans (which I was expecting, I don't think they give you additional support unless you have had 3 miscarriages). It's lack of resources, isn't it... I just feel lucky to be able to pay for a private scan without worrying about the money.

wannabemum38 · 16/05/2023 21:14

@JC89 exactly this. I have had two MC at 7 weeks prior and so we booked a private scan for 8 weeks as I didn't want to wait til 12 weeks. My midwife at booking appointment was actually OK about it and understood why to stop my anxiety plus it showed up I had twin sacs at earlier stage.
Cos of my age I'm having a consultant led pregnancy and so will have two extra scans in later weeks. But I think all women should have a scan at 30 or 35 weeks as a lot of problems that people I know have experienced would have been picked up on in later scans.

Bit of advice ladies on cyclogest Bit personal do feel free to ignore lol but they are a bit of a sticky mess vaginally how do you go about DTD with your other half's I can't seem to find any proper guidance online about it... I presume its safe and to insert pessary afterwards?

Justanothercyster · 16/05/2023 22:16

I feel your pain @Clucket87 this is way harder with a toddler to entertain. So fed up. Thankful. But fed up

OP posts:
FfoxRedN · 17/05/2023 05:33

@wannabemum38 I never use cyclogest vaginally. The back way is way less messy and I find this much easier, plus it would solve your issue too, if even just for the odd occasion x

DaisyMay25 · 17/05/2023 05:55

@wannabemum38 DTD are you crazy? The thought of the motion alone sets my nausea off 😂

FfoxRedN · 17/05/2023 07:13

@DaisyMay25 I have to agree...poor DH has had to wait since the TWW 😂😂😂. Couldn't think of anything worse up until now 😆

Mushroo · 17/05/2023 07:59

@DaisyMay25 @FfoxRedN I’m with you guys . My boobs are so sore they could not handle any interaction! Poor DH

Mummy1502 · 17/05/2023 08:04

@Mushroo mine are so sore too x

wannabemum38 · 17/05/2023 08:34

@FfoxRedN ah might be a good idea
@DaisyMay25 @Mushroo my boobs were painful from week 5 up until this weekend. Now they don't hurt and I don't feel sick anymore which is nice but also worries you but I know it's normal. After I found out I was pregnant wouldn't let my DP near me for weeks was too scared and wasn't in mood for a long time!

SunSparkle · 17/05/2023 08:49

@Clucket87 thank you so much. Made me a bit teary. Was a particularly bad day yesterday and it just got on top of me a little bit.
