I think that I read somewhere that a pregnant women should aim to drink 2.5 litres of water per day.

@OnNaturesCourse the baby will be taking everything that it needs to grow from you, it may make you feel awful in yourself, but they'll be developing just fine despite your diet and lack of vitamin supplements.

@Mushroo I've been very regular this pregnancy, but with my daughter I'd get horrible constipation and found that laxido helped. I'd take a couple of sachets per day when constipated to get things moving, then one a day to maintain the movement after that. It tastes awful, so used to mix a sachet with a touch of cordial in a 1 litre bottle of water and sip it throughout the day

On stretch marks, it was strange for my first pregnancy as I got stretch marks on my thighs really early when it didn’t even look like anything had changed. And then my bump was massive by the end but I didn’t have a single one on it and never used any creams etc. Genetics and human bodies are weird.

HappyPie82 · 07/06/2023 12:49

I had my scan today! There was a beautiful little jellybean in there, nice heartbeat. I'm so relieved, I'd really worked myself up last night that I would be having another MMC.
I've been so emotionally guarded around this pregnancy but I feel I can get excited now because there really is a baby in there.
I was amazed at how much bean was jumping around, had it's hands up round its face and jiggled around loads. Measuring 2 days ahead, so I'm 12+3, so I expect they'll revise my due date a little but I still expect to be giving birth on or around Christmas day!
Good luck to everyone else getting their 12w scans this week.

NoodleQueen90 · 07/06/2023 13:32

My scan went well too, had a very hyper baby bouncing around in there...took them ages to get the measurements. I'm 1 day ahead so 13 weeks and due 13th December. So relieved that everything is ok!

Mushroo · 07/06/2023 14:15

@HappyPie82 @NoodleQueen90 yay! So happy for you both. Must be such a relief.

Do they tell you blood results there and then or do you have to wait? (Assuming you’re having the combined tests).

Charlielechat · 07/06/2023 14:25

Congratulations on your scans @NoodleQueen90 and @HappyPie82 ! 😊

NoodleQueen90 · 07/06/2023 14:30

@Mushroo no you need to wait. Think it varies how long the wait is depending on where you are. She said if it comes back high risk, my midwife will contact me within 7-10 days 🙄 seen lots of people saying they'll contact within 3 days if high risk. If low risk then they don't contact you, midwife just puts it on badger notes.

Mushroo · 07/06/2023 14:33

@NoodleQueen90 ah thank you, that makes sense. I hope you get no news :)

ThomasinaLivesHere · 07/06/2023 14:33

Congrats on scans. It is amazing how much they move. I’d only ever seen ultrasound pictures before and so hadn’t realised how much they move.

HappyPie82 · 07/06/2023 15:03

@HappyPie82 @NoodleQueen90 yay! So happy for you both. Must be such a relief.

They said if we don’t hear anything within 5 working days then no news is good news.
Had a little google of the NT measurements she took and they seem good so hoping it’s ok!
They only took the bloods for the screening today, so no idea what the three vials of blood was for last week! I’m a pincushion of bruises at this point 😅

NoodleQueen90 · 07/06/2023 15:21

I had only seen pictures before too. I also expected a tense wait while they found the baby and heartbeat etc but it was pretty much on the screen instantly, such a relief!
@HappyPie82 oh I didn't get told the measurement but I didn't think to ask tbh.
Hope everyone's upcoming scans go well and you're not too anxious...I was all over the place this morning, baby was probably hyper from an adrenaline rush 😂

SMG1992 · 07/06/2023 15:24

I had no idea how much they moved too! Was a lovely surprise although ours kept looking like it was punching itself in the face!

Beans1982 · 07/06/2023 15:42

Hi all,

Hope you don't mind me joining the group? First timer here - 40 yr old, natural conception. Currently at 10 weeks + 5 days and due 31 December 😆

I've been nauseous and sick since around week 5 and wondered how everyone else has been getting on with morning/all day sickness? Do you still experience it or has it calmed down for you?

SMG1992 · 07/06/2023 15:50

HI @Beans1982 - congrats and welcome!
I'm 13 weeks today and still feel sick although not quite as bad as a few weeks ago. I haven't been sick in a week or 2 and mine has moved from morning to evening sickness alongside heartburn most days.
If I have a nap I usually feel a bit better.

Nclktnntt · 07/06/2023 16:25

Hi @Beans1982

Welcome! We have the same due date currently. I've been the same since about the same time. This week I thought I'd turned a corner - I went 4 days without being sick, and hardly felt it, until last night when the nausea and sickness kicked off again. I've found eating less but more often helps. I've swapped porridge for Wheetabix and split my lunch into two, usually my evening meal is fine as long as I eat really really slowly.

Breakfast bars have been my saviour. I'm not really a biscuit person and 1 biscuit would give me about 30-60 mins peace. I also eat a lot of small oranges. I used to eat all sorts of fruit but most makes me feel sick now and satsumas or bananas are easy to eat now. Also sweets help but obviously not great for you so I have a bag of jellies in the fridge that will last me (and my husband) the whole week.

Im 38 , so not far in age and this is my first. I hope your sickness eases soon. Mines been better today so far again. Only this morning then I've been ok since.

I've found if I eat too much, the excess would come back up, not all of it strangely. I used to eat big meals but sporadically. I can't eat too late. 7:30 is my cut off for evening meal, any later and I'm really bad sickness wise, even with snacks it's hard to overcome. I used to eat dinner around 8:30/9pm so it's been fun adjusting lol.

FirstMondayInMay · 07/06/2023 16:50

Well, I was looking for something to do today but didn’t quite have a trip to a&e in mind! Recorded my BP on the website the consultant set me up on last week, it flashed up to ring the hospital as the bottom number was too high. Ended up in a&e with them telling me that the severe headache and dizziness I’ve had for 4 days is probably a migraine and to basically get on with it!

I’ve come to the conclusion that the women who ‘glow’ during pregnancy must have been glowing beforehand😂

DaisyMay25 · 07/06/2023 18:03

@FirstMondayInMay out of curiosity what was your BP?

Regarding NT combined tests, in our trust you get results through the post within two weeks with the risks on it, if it's high risk you get a phone call within a week, I know all trusts are different though

FirstMondayInMay · 07/06/2023 18:16

@DaisyMay25 it was 155/105 then came down slightly to 148/99

DaisyMay25 · 07/06/2023 18:18

@FirstMondayInMay oh wow that is high, keep an eye on it. Ideally want that top number below 140 but even that can be on the higher side of normal

Pitstop1986 · 07/06/2023 19:33

Can I borrow some of your blood pressure?! Mine today was 80/50!!!

But in all seriousness, do keep an eye on it and of you are worried, get a gp appointment or ring your maternity unit for advice

DaisyMay25 · 07/06/2023 20:15

@Pitstop1986 make sure you're keeping hydrated 😊 can be why blood pressure is low sometimes

Pitstop1986 · 07/06/2023 20:19

Definitely hydrated. I must drink 3 litres per day and urine is always clear. I'm just prone to low blood pressure during pregnancy!

wannabemum38 · 07/06/2023 20:57

My itching has really got me down today been in tears. I love this baby so much but my god being pregnant is hard. A week ago tomorrow we saw our little one at the scan and I will be 13+6 tomorrow we have had no call as yet about our blood test results they said if its high it will be within 7 days if all OK a letter within 14 days so crossing fingers my phone doesn't ring this week.
Glad all scans went OK such a relief isn't and yes they do move about a lot right now I couldn't believe it!
Congratulations @Beans1982 I'm 42 so a little older than you first time natural conception here too which we get asked about when I say how old I am like it's not that common when it really is now!

OnNaturesCourse · 07/06/2023 23:58

NoodleQueen90 · 07/06/2023 10:34

@OnNaturesCourse my scan is today too, my partner has left work and waiting on him picking me up, it's at 11:45. I was excited but now it's here I'm so nervous I feel sick!
Best of luck with your scan, I'm sure everything will be fine for both of us 🤞🏽

@NoodleQueen90 hope all went well for you today.

My little leech (previous joke!) is doing just fine - jumping around like a little hyper gymnast.

Due date 15th December!

NoodleQueen90 · 08/06/2023 08:21

@OnNaturesCourse glad to hear it went well 😊 yip mine was bouncing around too, couldn't believe how clear the scan was!
I've told loads of people now so it's definitely feeling more real 😁 I'm officially in the second trimester as well 😯 and here was me saying it was dragging in!
