Went for a scan today, 12 weeks 4 days. Got my booking appointment next week, so hopefully get a date for a first NHS scan.
Can anyone tell me if a nub is visible, I have no idea about this?

Afternoon everyone, full appointment plus Datong scan today. Turns out I'm 13+1! NT measurement 2.2mm so well within normal limits but await bloods :)
Scan here, any guesses on boy or girl?!

Mushroo · 02/06/2023 14:52

Awww I’m loving all these scans!! I have no guesses, I don’t understand nubs at all, but congratulations!

SunSparkle · 02/06/2023 15:09

@RG84 ive had to book my daughter in for another day of nursery as the scan appointment came through on one of her days she’s not normally in. It’s annoying but at least we’ve got that option.

TulipVictory · 02/06/2023 15:29

@45mummy I've spent a lot of time looking at nubs and I'm pretty sure that's a boy

DaisyMay25 · 02/06/2023 16:14

@45mummy skull looks boy to me!

@Soundbathfan very girly skull to me!

Congrats on the scans guys, very exciting!!!

Oldermum84 · 02/06/2023 16:55

@RG84 sorry I'm late to this but can your DH/DP not look after DC? My DH was meant to be working during my 12 week scan but his work give time off for antenatal appointments so he just told them he was coming to the scan with me and got 2 hours off and he stayed home with DS while I went. If not then can you ask around for a babysitter?

RG84 · 02/06/2023 17:00

@Oldermum84 I would want my partner at the 12 week scan. I think my only option is to find a baby sitter I guess. Sucks..

Glad your scan went well ladies. Not great at reading scans though. Anyone finding out the gender? I will be, I like to be prepared on clothing etc

DaisyMay25 · 02/06/2023 17:08

@RG84 i don't want to but DH does so I'm unsure if we will! We found out at a private scan at 16 weeks with DS

RG84 · 02/06/2023 17:12

@DaisyMay25 its always a tricky one when one of you do and the other doesn't. Initially my partner didn't want to know however I convinced him by saying well its easier to bond with a baby once you know the sex haha..of course this isn't true for everyone but it worked on him so we will definitely be finding out.

Oldermum84 · 02/06/2023 17:43

@RG84 oh I see. Yeah it sucks having no childcare, DH and I would have loved him to be able to come to my scan but we have not family support and couldn't afford £50 for an extra day at nursery. Why don't you just go alone and pay for a private scan separately? You can get them for £39 for reassurance scans in my area. Children can attend private scans at private clinics.

FlyingHighFlyingLow · 02/06/2023 17:47

My DH said he's happy to wait until birth but I'm the one feeling like death so he'll go with whatever I want, so we will probably be finding out 😂

17caterpillars1mouse · 02/06/2023 18:13

I had a surprise at birthwith my two dds Nd loved finding out on meeting them. We are finding out this time though as we feel it will help the girls bond and be prepared. If not for them I wouldn't find out again

Sairrrxx · 02/06/2023 20:05

Hi all, my scan went well! So relieved

My due date has changed from the 15th to the 20th December as baby is measuring at 11+2

wannabemum38 · 02/06/2023 22:10

@Sairrrxx OH so happy it was all okay!

45mummy · 02/06/2023 22:53

@Sairrrxx So pleased it went well for you. Did they say anything about the potential cause of your spotting?

ThomasinaLivesHere · 03/06/2023 06:26

On finding out the baby’s sex. Last time we left it until birth but it wasn’t the nice surprise I imagined as I ended up with an emergency section and I was just worried about baby’s safety so didn’t really care when they revealed he was a boy as was just relieved he was ok. This time it would be different with a planned section but I think we’re going to find out before as planning on doing the NIPT test which tells the sex too.

ThomasinaLivesHere · 03/06/2023 06:28

@Sairrrxx congrats on scan! Glad it turned out well.

smldnlove · 03/06/2023 06:43

Such amazing scans! So pleased everyone is having positive experiences. Crazy to me how much they grow, I had my last scan at 9w4 and it was a little (cute) alien and some of you at 12w have a full on baby in your scans!

Feeling excited for 12w scan on 16th! Also, completely agree on everyone’s guesses. @45mummy looks like a boy to me and @Soundbathfan a girl to me! How exciting 💕

Soundbathfan · 03/06/2023 07:57

Thanks for your guesses everyone I think it's a girl too! We'll see:)

I had the NT measurement but need to await bloods. I'd like to get NIPT done even if low risk but this wasn't discussed yesterday..does anyone know how I go about getting this? Is it all private?

smldnlove · 03/06/2023 08:12

@Soundbathfan Yes this is a private scan I believe (but others please correct me). I think if low risk you can get it done privately, maybe high risk is offered on NHS?

In my area it’s about £400-£500 privately so can’t imagine we will have it unless on the NHS for free.

Are others planning to pay for it just to be safe?

Mushroo · 03/06/2023 08:18

@Soundbathfan if your combined results
come back high risk I think you get it on the NHS. If you’re low risk you’d have to pay privately. It’s about £400 - £500 and you just have to Google / ask around for a local provider. Fertility clinics will often do it.

Im getting it done too - for me I’m willing to pay £500 to take the accuracy from about 92% (the combined test) to about 99% (NIPT).

Also I’m getting it done a couple of days before the NHS scan so I’ll know the results quicker, and if anything bad is found I’ll be able to act a couple of weeks earlier.

For us though, £500 isn’t a huge amount of money (not saying that to be smug, but I just mean I might not bother if I had to scrimp and save, or if it meant foregoing some stuff for the baby).

It’s a personal decision x

RG84 · 03/06/2023 08:56

I think I will do the NIPT test this coming week, in my area it is £199.
I have the my 12 week scan on the NHS on the 14th June, I will be 12+5 weeks. (I've not had a private scan done) so should I still have the screening tests done on my 12 week scan if I have the NIPT one done?

Rainbowdust557 · 03/06/2023 10:06

Congratulations to those of you who have had your 12 week one so far. Love seeing all the scan pictures - it's so amazing!! Can't believe how quickly they develop!

Charlielechat · 03/06/2023 11:38

So exciting seeing everyone's 12 week scans! It's hard to believe we're all nearly finished our first trimester 😱

I did my first workout today in over 10 weeks 🙈 Just a 30-minute pregnancy workout on YouTube. Was getting so fed up feeling sluggish and unhappy with my body but feeling better after it!
