Had by booking appointment and been referred to the hospital for bloods because my veins blow and I end up looking like a pin cushion.
Due date is now the 30th December so I'm expecting to go in to be induced on the 16th December so I should be home for Christmas!
Husband came with me and said it is suddenly feeling very real. I knew it anyway after how horrendous I've felt lol. X

joyjoy23 · 01/06/2023 18:30

@wannabemum38 How did your scan go?

I had mine this morning and it went well, though I had to do quite a bit of shaking and jumping on the bed as the sonographer kept saying the baby had to change position so she could do the NT measurement properly. I was in there for 45 mins! Confirmed due date is 10th December. 💕

wannabemum38 · 01/06/2023 19:15

@joyjoy23 mine went great thank goodness now it feels so real! My little one was taking a nap at first so had to try and move it about then it was moving too much but luckily got it moving and had measurements taken. Confirmed 8th December for me I was a day more than what I thought at 12+6. But all good glad yours went well too!

joyjoy23 · 01/06/2023 20:10

@wannabemum38 So glad yours went well too, congratulations. It's amazing how much we can actually see when they are still so tiny. Hope everything else goes well from here. 😊

@GratefulMum10 @midnights0

This is exactly me. I have my 12 week scan tomorrow afternoon and have been reading so much making myself worry more. I also had a few days very light brown spotting at around 10 weeks and nothing since but I've got it in my head I'm going to get bad news tomorrow.

I know I had similar spotting with my first pregnancy and everything turned out okay so just trying to keep that in mind.

The anxiety is awful x

Hi everyone!

Has anyone else not gotten their scan appointment yet?

I am 12 weeks pregnant and haven't heard from the hospital yet.

I am in Birmingham.

I have my midwives appointments though xx

I'm also in Birmingham. I am 12 weeks today and my scan letter came through 6 weeks ago. I would definitely ask your midwife and call the women's hospital, tomorrow if you can.

Soundbathfan · 01/06/2023 21:44

Appt with consultant tomorrow (I think this will include the 12 week scan)
Guessing I need a full bladder? :(
Is there anything I should ask ?

I've got a few questions but can't help thinking I may be missing something as it's my first!

wannabemum38 · 01/06/2023 22:46

@Sairrrxx Anxiety is awful. I had spotting red and brown at 10 weeks and all is well and just had my 12 week scan and almost 13 weeks. All the nurses and consultant told me bleeding is so common but I know how scary it can be and all the bad scenarios you play out in your head. Good luck with the scan let us know how it goes x

Justanothercyster · 02/06/2023 07:52

@RG84 I asked about that, they said she'd have to wait outside with my husband. Luckily she's already in nursery that day as I'm usually at work but we were in the same position before I realised the days 🙈 do you have any friends that might take her to soft play or something nearby?

How did the scans go? Or good luck if you're having them today!

The anxiety is totally relatable, our minds naturally worry about the worst but I'm hoping and praying we all have successful pregnancies 💕

What do the NHS do when you honestly don't have anyone to watch the children I wonder? Seems that they would have to make allowances sometimes.

Just a random thought really.

(and whoohoo, I've officially made it to 12 weeks today!)

NoodleQueen90 · 02/06/2023 09:20

Hey everyone :) I've not been on much recently, trying to enjoy the nice weather (dry and sunny in West of Scotland 😮) and work has been mobbed but I'm definitely feeling much more like myself again now...I'm 12+1 today and my scan is on Wednesday at 12+6.
I've not had any scans so far so I also have occasional anxiety that there will be nothing there or will have stopped growing. Will be very relieved if we go and everything is good! Hoping I can stop counting down days after that as well and just try to enjoy my pregnancy!
Congrats to everyone who has had their lovely scans 😊and good luck to those coming up!

Sairrrxx · 02/06/2023 09:36

@wannabemum38 that's really good to hear, I'm glad everything was good for you! :)

Thank you, I will keep you all updated on how it goes later xx

Mushroo · 02/06/2023 10:49

Just had my booking appointment and all went well, my midwife was lovely!

Im now on aspirin though as it’s my first pregnancy and my mum had pre-eclampsia, other than that all very straightforward.

12 week scan booked for 20 June when I’m 12+3 so on the countdown to that!!

RG84 · 02/06/2023 10:54

@Mushroo Hey glad your appointment went well and makes a difference when you get a nice midwife. I was also told to take aspirin but to start when I am 12 weeks. Is that the case with yourself or do you start yours immediately? I had pre-eclampsia with my first pregnancy.

Mushroo · 02/06/2023 11:01

@RG84 mine is to start now until 36 weeks as a precautionary measure . (The leaflet says to start taking from 8 weeks). My midwife is dropping it round to my house on Saturday as they didn’t have any there, how nice is that?! I’m really impressed so far.

I think it’s more common in first pregnancies so hopefully you’ll be fine this time

RG84 · 02/06/2023 11:06

@Mushroo with my first pregnancy, midwife also asked me to start it straight away but this time around it's from 12 weeks until 36 weeks.
Now that is service, very kind of them to drop it off :)
I will be 12 weeks on the 9th June and have my 12 week scan on the 14th June.

I know every pregnancy and every woman is different but I won't lie, I do get so paranoid when others are told differently. Or just me?

Mushroo · 02/06/2023 11:07

@RG84 no I’m the same! I’ll probably end up down a Google rabbit hole now 😂

RG84 · 02/06/2023 11:12

@Mushroo haha tell me about it! and I have also forgotten if the midwife said 150mg for Aspirin. I need to check that. Annoying thing is there was no GP available on my booking appointment to give me a prescription for Aspirin so I need to buy my own.

DaisyMay25 · 02/06/2023 11:58

Just wanted to weigh in on the children at scan situation, a woman brought a child to her scan today with no one else to watch child. She had to rebook to a time when she could attend without child or with another adult who can watch the child during the scan

RG84 · 02/06/2023 12:24

@DaisyMay25 I literally just got off the phone and the lady said children are not allowed. I totally understand why but all children are different. My 3 year old came with me to my booking appointment, I gave her my phone to watch some cartoons and she stayed quiet the entire appointment, no issues. Not sure what I am going to do on my 12 week can but need to figure out a plan before then.

HappyPie82 · 02/06/2023 12:42

12 week scan on Wednesday at 12+1.
My past loss is just convincing me that its going to be MMC or something else will be wrong. Despite nothing to tell me otherwise. No spotting, very strong nausea and vomiting.
Definitely will be vomiting on Wednesday morning from the anxiety!

Kat2022 · 02/06/2023 12:47

Good luck with your scan. I experienced spotting in week 11 and I then got myself so worried as spotting was a bit heavier (mostly brown discharge) so I booked myself a private appointment as I was just so concerned and worried. I had no spotting with my baby no 1. I went to the scan and all was perfect. I also felt like my sickness was milder but I spoke to soon as it hit me very hard again in week 12. I have my dating scan on nhs next week on Tuesday and baby was actually almost a week ahead so I’m definitely having a boy and c section as there’s no way I’m getting myself in the same pickle where they kept me overdue for 2 weeks as they had no beds to induce me. I also think it was quite clear from the scan it was a boy but everyone says it’s still to early. Don’t worry and make sure you’re calm and relaxed :-) I will probably speak to my GP if spotting doesn’t go away just to make sure everything’s okay. Apparently light spotting is normal as long as you don’t have heavy bleeding and changing pads all the time

Pitstop1986 · 02/06/2023 12:56

@RG84 can you ask around to see if there is a babysitter or childminder in your area who can watch your 3 tear old?

Obviously there'll be a cost for it, but at least you'll know that they are in safe hands and you can get to the scan child free.

I'd even be tempted to use them for a whole morning or afternoon and go for a nice peaceful child free coffee after the scan!

RG84 · 02/06/2023 13:28

@Pitstop1986 I'll defiantly have to make a plan and find someone to watch her. My daughter was born in South Africa due to the pandemic so it's literally just been the 3 of us, everywhere we go, our daughter comes with us. She has never been left alone with anyone including my parents for more than 20mins and that's only because my partner and I had to do a cross over for work. I mean that's another story but yeah I'll have to make a plan 😭

Going for a lunch child free sounds amazing, sold haha...but that's a great idea actually.

@midnights0 @GratefulMum10 @Mushroo feel the same as you guys!
Actually messaged @Mushroo privately cause my anxiety was so bad!
My symptoms are almost completely gone too. felt a bit dizzy today which is a new one but other than that I feel fine.
I also had spotting around 10 weeks which lasted a few days, EPU not concerned at all.
Guess we just need to wait and see, we’re in this together tho! Hopefully not long until everyone’s 12 week scan?? Mine is next Tuesday.

And @Sairrrxx
Sounds like all in similar boat. My 12 week scan is on 13th June. Debated having one earlier but decided to just hold out pray and be positive.

It's reassuring to know I don't need to jump to worst conclusion when so many have experienced something similar.

Sending good vibes to everyone!
