@Mushroo when are you turning 12 weeks? Give them a call, say you are away on certain dates so hopefully they will be able to book you in.

broges · 30/05/2023 17:24

@Rainbowdust557 thank you, I will speak to my doctor x

Mushroo · 30/05/2023 17:26

@RG84 im 10 weeks on Thursday going by LMP (from my 8 week scan I’m 10weeks on Saturday but obviously the NHS don’t know I’m a couple of days behind).

My booking appointment is Friday so I’ll mention it then, just getting impatient and wondered if standard protocol in Manchester was for it to be booked at the booking appointment, or if I’ve been missed!

broges · 30/05/2023 17:27

@DaisyMay25 thank you, I will take a look into that:-)

RG84 · 30/05/2023 17:31

@Mushroo I'm from London but with the first pregnancy in 2019, they booked the 12 week scan on the day of my booking appointment. So hopefully this is the case for you. I have my booking appointment tomorrow so I'll be 10+5 tomorrow. Surprisingly they already booked a 12 week scan on the 14th June when I will be 12+5. I'm sure they will book yours on your booking appointment if they haven't already.

Mushroo · 30/05/2023 17:33

@RG84 thank you! I’m hoping that’s the case - I want a date I can start a nice countdown too 😂

Lakeside88 · 30/05/2023 17:41

First scan next Monday at 11 weeks, its just a dating scan as part of the private NIPT test then my NHS scan is the following week at 12+4
I have to say i was quite suprised when I mentioned I'd booked the NIPT to my midwife at booking appt and she fully supported the decision, im 34 so maybe that's why but I was fully prepared to battle my corner if she questioned spending money! She said the results would be fully incorporated into my notes which is great! Anyone else have this positive response.
I'm a proactive person and my reason was I would like to be fully informed as soon as possible.

Mushroo · 30/05/2023 17:50

@Lakeside88 thats reassuring as I’m planning to get the NIPT at 11 weeks too. I’m only 31 but like you I’d just rather know as much as possible as early as possible, going to inform my midwife on Friday so I hope she is supportive as well.

Let me know how you get on with it x

RG84 · 28/05/2023 08:26

@Georgia31 hey congratulations!
I know how you must be feeling. I got lower back pains but that's was very early on, maybe 6-7 weeks but nothing. I also has a miscarriage in August 2021 and for me I'm constantly worrying as everyone on here are getting symptoms and I've not had an sickness and I'm 10 weeks. Not that I'm complaining. I did Google and it said only 10% of women don't get any pregnancy symptoms.

I really want to go for an early scan but my partner wants to wait as he doesn't want to jinx it. My 12 week scan is only on the 14th June. And I'm still yet to have my booking appointment on the 31st May.

Keep positive, easier said than done I know as I'm also feeling scared. But a few more days and you'll have a scan done 🙏🏽

Thank you so much for your message. I hope you're doing well.
I had a bleed on Saturday and bad back pain, ended up in A&E but but got told I have a bad UTI. She said they can't rule out another miscarriage but I'd have to wait until Wednesday to find out. It's been an awful couple of days.
How have you been? Thanks for your positive vibes x

FirstMondayInMay · 30/05/2023 18:16

@Mushroo im under Oldham, I had my booking at 12+0 and have my scan tomorrow at 13. They sent the scan referral during the booking and the appointment came through on badger 2 days later.

has anyone had high blood pressure during pregnancy? I’ve been having dizzy spells over the last week or so, so upped my water intake and started trying to eat little and often. I went for a lay down this afternoon and was even dizzy whilst in bed. I’ve just taken my BP and it was 161/83, it was 118/82 at booking last week.

Mushroo · 30/05/2023 18:30

@FirstMondayInMay thank you :)

With your blood pressure Id keep an eye on it and let your midwife know, i think it can be a sign of pre-eclampsia. It’s probably fine but better that they can check

I will thank you! I'm nervous as we planned not to tell anyone until we have all the info we need so June will be a huge month for us! Congratulations and I hope all your appointments go well

DaisyMay25 · 30/05/2023 19:13

@FirstMondayInMay I suffer bad with dizzy spells, it's almost vertigo, very annoying!
My iron levels are low though with May be contributing to it too. Might be worth getting an at home blood pressure machine to keep an eye on it?

DaisyMay25 · 30/05/2023 19:14

Scan went well, sue said everything is looking perfect. Measuring ten weeks exactly with due date of 26/12 which is what I thought. Crazy how much they grow in a short amount of time!

wannabemum38 · 30/05/2023 19:26

@DaisyMay25 great scan and angle looks a good size for 10 weeks!

FirstMondayInMay · 30/05/2023 19:26

@Mushroo @DaisyMay25 thank you both! I’m in for my scan tomorrow morning and will be seeing the doctor afterwards so I’ll mention it then, hopefully it’s just a one off!

Clucket87 · 30/05/2023 20:22

Random one but does anybody else feel like their nipple are in a vice!
I've been doing really well but tonight it is just crazy painful! Xx

Marvelmommy · 30/05/2023 21:08

GUYS HELP!
So this is my first pregnancy and i had a private gender scan done at 16weeks and was told I’m having a girl however I’m still not satisfied with the scan and just need a confirmation before buying pinks, can anyone have a look and tell me what they think it is … I just want to be sure as I’ve read many stories about wrong gender diagnoses X

ThomasinaLivesHere · 30/05/2023 21:56

@Marvelmommy Sorry I’m hopeless at scan pics but if it was a trained sonographer they should know what they’re doing. Did they give any doubt or did they seem confident. It might be a good idea to wait until your 20 week scan to check to see if they also say girl.

Dating scan booked for Friday. Can anyone help me know what to expect/ask? First timer, 37. Will I be offered NIPT there or will this be later?

Depending where you are you'll be offered the combined test if you're 11-14 weeks (quad test after 14 weeks). You aren't offered NIPT on the NHS unless you get a high risk result from the combined test. If you want the security of the more accurate NIPT you can get one privately, but its about £500.

Farcry66 · 30/05/2023 23:36

Had a bloody awful night last night. We've hoit 12 weeks (well, 12+5), had the scan, all went well. Decided to tell all the family yesterday. Some lovely reactions.

Got home, went to the toilet and realised I'd had a bleed, really light pink and not a lot but this is my 3rd and I've never had so much as a drop of blood in any of them. Rang 111, eventually got a call back and was told exactly what I knew I would be which was just need to wait and see what happens. Woke up at 4am and had a slightly heavier bleed with some very small clots and convinced myself that that was that.

When I got up at 9am to call the epu for an anti-d injection and yo see if they would examine me, I checked again and it was completely clear, nit a trace of a bleed. I've been out and about in London today as we were meeting friends and going to see a show, every hour I've been popping to the toilet just to check and it's been absolutely fine.

Not even sure why I'm writing this as I know everything was okay, but I've never been so scared! Spoke to maternity day assessment at the hospital and they have decided to scan me tomorrow anyway as they couldn't find the record of my scan on Friday.... despite me having pics of it! But at least it means I get to see little Bertie again!

wannabemum38 · 31/05/2023 01:15

@Farcry66 Bleeding is so common in first trimester and seeing your little bertie at over 12 weeks is a positive sign plus it's stopped so try not to worry too much. Glad epu are seeing you though will put your mind at rest. I had similar issues at 10 weeks and I've lost a few babies so it's very scary I know.

Think my little one has decided it definitely doesn't like meatballs. Both times I've had it recently and giving TMI here but basically all the meat mixture has come up not the pasta weirdly. Urgh another bad night with my head down the loo.

Does anyone know if you can take your child in for the nhs 12 wk scan?

In my trust children are not allowed in for any scans at all. States on the letter you won't be allowed in if you bring anyone under 18. Private places are usually more amenable, but again my area don't let them before 16 weeks. So really very area depending.
