@Soundbathfan definitely go o. Holiday. I went at 6 months jn my first pregnancy and it was great. Don’t plan on tons of site seeing - embrace the rest and book an all inclusive somewhere and relish your final holiday of laying on a sun lounger. Best thing I did! I came back so refreshed. Did pack my pregnancy pillow in a vacuum bag as I loved that thing by 6 months. And tons of rennie tablets for heartburn!!

Georgia31 · 27/05/2023 11:06

Hey, Congratulations guys.
I'm currently 9.5 weeks pregnant, and last night, I was getting the worst pains in my lower back. They have subsided today. Has anyone else experienced lower back pain and had a good outcome? I had a missed miscarriage last July, so I know I'm worrying about every little thing, I have a scan booked in for Wednesday. X

wannabemum38 · 27/05/2023 19:04

Feeling very bumpy today 12 weeks can't believe it just hope scan shows all is OK on Thursday
I ate some sushi today thinking it was OK I know can't eat the smoked salmon and other uncooked fish ones I had california rolls with prawns in a sauce but now I've read you shouldn't eat anything seafood unless its cooked and I don't know if they are cooked. But u can eat a prawn mayo sandwich which is basically the same isn't it so confused?!

Mushroo · 27/05/2023 20:49

@wannabemum38 prawns will definitely be cooked. Raw ones are grey and slimy!

wannabemum38 · 27/05/2023 21:24

@Mushroo that is true phew thanks was worried then!

Polkadotfloral · 28/05/2023 06:18

Hello, can I join this thread? I originally thought that my due date would be right at the end of November but at my scan on Friday I was given a due date of 4th December. 🥰
Is anyone else only now starting to feel like they can enjoy their pregnancy? We didn't tell anyone before the scan as I'd been worried something might go wrong and I almost convinced myself that we would be getting bad news at the scan. It was so amazing to see a little wriggly baby on the screen at last. ❤️

Soundbathfan · 28/05/2023 07:50

Thanks for the holiday inspo! Will be booking if I can find someone to look after our two dogs.

In terms of NCT classes etc is this a lot later? Is there anything I should be doing right now in preparation for baby in Dec? Got scan next week so guess I'll know more then!

RG84 · 28/05/2023 08:26

@Georgia31 hey congratulations!
I know how you must be feeling. I got lower back pains but that's was very early on, maybe 6-7 weeks but nothing. I also has a miscarriage in August 2021 and for me I'm constantly worrying as everyone on here are getting symptoms and I've not had an sickness and I'm 10 weeks. Not that I'm complaining. I did Google and it said only 10% of women don't get any pregnancy symptoms.

I really want to go for an early scan but my partner wants to wait as he doesn't want to jinx it. My 12 week scan is only on the 14th June. And I'm still yet to have my booking appointment on the 31st May.

Keep positive, easier said than done I know as I'm also feeling scared. But a few more days and you'll have a scan done 🙏🏽

wannabemum38 · 28/05/2023 08:48

@Soundbathfan NCT classes for us due in December will be in about October/November. However they book up really fast. Last time I looked they don't even have any in my town which is annoying but I don't want to book anything like that until my 12 week scan.
Congratulations BTW! Seeing them wriggle around is pure joy isn't it?

bookbathnap · 28/05/2023 09:13

@Polkadotfloral congratulations on your scan results! I know exactly what you mean, we didn’t want to allow ourselves to get excited until we saw that everything was ok on the 12 week scan. It’s such a relief. My due date is 2nd December so similar to yours. The scan seems to have coincided with symptoms easing, so much so that it feels like coming back to life 😂. How are your symptoms? I was struggling with my mental health quite a lot but things have improved these last few days. I’m convinced the baby’s profile in the scan photo looks like my husband’s head haha. So lovely to see 💛

Polkadotfloral · 28/05/2023 10:48

@bookbathnap thank you! It's such a relief isn't it?!
That's great that your symptoms are easing, my nausea seems to be improving slightly but I still feel so tired and have such painful boobs! I had a 3 hour nap yesterday afternoon because I felt so exhausted. It does feel slightly easier now that we've told people at least. I'm really glad your mental health is improving, I went through a rough patch around 10 weeks where I felt awful mentally and just kept crying all the time. Luckily it passed and I'm feeling much better mentally.
It's so exciting to think we'll have newborns at Christmas! 🎄

Mushroo · 28/05/2023 10:49

@Soundbathfan Im doing bumps and babies as it was about £50 cheaper than NCT and covered all the same stuff.

I’ve already signed up as the course running before the one for Dec / Jan was already booked up!

So if you’re thinking of doing NCT or similar I’d check as I didn’t realise they were so popular until my friend mentioned it.

Mushroo · 28/05/2023 11:04

Think we’re telling my BIL today but I’m in two minds!

We’re really close to him and tbh, it’s mainly because hiding me not drinking is getting ridiculous (the level of friendship is like Ross / chandler / Monica to put it into context).

We’re on a big day out tomorrow and I just cba with hiding it again. Tbh I think he may have guessed from me turning down Sangria repeatedly at a bbq and when we went to restaurant the other week, he checked the bill and it clearly said MOCKTAIL next to my drink Id been trying to pass off as alcoholic!

We had an 8 week scan and all fine and I’m 9 weeks this weekend. I had been hoping to wait for NIPT results and 12 week scan though.

Any thoughts / advice? I’m ok with him knowing if anything goes wrong. Has anyone regretted saying early?

Were also going to tell him to not tell parents he knew so they don’t feel put out!

NoodleQueen90 · 28/05/2023 12:36

@Mushroo if it makes you feel any better about it, I've told my mum, stepdad, sister, BIL and my niece overheard as I didn't know she was home when I told my sister 😂 my OH's adult daughter also knows.
I haven't had any scans and I told them around 9 weeks anyway. My 12 week scan is on 7th June so will wait until then to tell everyone else but I think if I'd gone for an earlier scan, I'd have told some close friends by now as well. I feel like they think I'm in a huff or something because I've not been out with them (to avoid excuses for not drinking).
Totally a personal choice for everyone but I don't think there's anything wrong with telling those close to you a bit earlier.

Mushroo · 28/05/2023 13:33

@NoodleQueen90 thank you! That does make me feel better. Think we’re going to tell him!

Itll also be nice to explain why I’ve been less social than usual!

Justanothercyster · 28/05/2023 13:53

@Mushroo we've now told both our families, too difficult to hide!

Mushroo · 28/05/2023 13:56

@Justanothercyster thank you! I’m feeling reassured I’m not jumping the gun.

Im so looking forward to having someone to socialise with and not be sneaky!

Also means I have another ‘ally’ who can order me an alcohol free drink at the bar 😂

Justanothercyster · 28/05/2023 14:06

Exactly! @Mushroo

I'm at my parents this weekend and my.mum is so excited especially as now my bump has popped. Unfortunately though I tried my wedding dress on and it doenst fit my hips have already widened too much so will have to get a new one. Luckily it was secondhand but I'm bit upset as loved it. But as my mum pointed out what's more important a dress or your little baby growing. A dress we can get again a baby is not easy!

midnights0 · 28/05/2023 18:14

When did everyone get bloods done? I’ve seen posts of people having them done at their booking appt, I had my booking in at 8 weeks, I’m now 10 weeks. I’ve got my 12 weeks scan on June 16th, will they take bloods then? She didn’t even mention it on my booking in. I didn’t even know I was suppose to have bloods taken 😂

broges · 28/05/2023 18:24

Hello, I've just got to 13 weeks. The last couple days I've been suffering with a really badly blocked nose, feel very snotty but when I blow my nose hardly anything comes out! I thought it might be hayfever cause I do get that every year, but been reading up on pregnancy rhinitis and wondering if it could be that... anyone else been experiencing this?

bookbathnap · 28/05/2023 18:30

@midnights0I had blood taken at both the booking appointment and the 12 week scan. I guess they will do all of yours at the scan. Maybe make a note to ask them about it at the scan in case you forget with all the excitement!

Rainbowdust557 · 28/05/2023 18:45

@wannabemum38 an exciting reason for it not to fit but I can imagine hard too. Hopefully you'll find another dress that you love even more!! How long to go till your wedding?

@broges I've had this before (it sucks!) and with that then came nose bleeds too...pregnancy is full of the most lovely symptoms 😩 Luckily I've not had it so far this time round.

@midnights0 I had mine done at the booking In appointment but I think you get more done at the 12 week scan. Could you ask your GP/contact midwife? I've still had no date for my 12 week scan and I'll be 12 weeks Thurs! Rang them up and just told to wait basically 🤷🏻‍♀️

wannabemum38 · 28/05/2023 19:07

@Rainbowdust557 3 months to go now so not long but lots of body changes in that time all being well

@midnights0 I had my first lot done at booking in appointment which checked for hiv, syphilis, some blood thing and to check blood group and iron levels too. At 12 weeks should be having another one. Just ask at appointment or call up they might have forgotten. X

RG84 · 28/05/2023 19:09

The blood test they take on the booking appointment, how long do the results come back in? I literally can't remember my last booking appointment in 2019. I have my booking appointment on the 31st May.
