I've booked a scan for tomorrow night so we can tell family at the weekend 🙈 it'll be interesting if they date me the same as 2 weeks ago.
Lots of pressure down there tonight, think I've overdone it with carrying my toddler today, but also feels like I might wake up with a bit more belly, I remember this feeling well from last time!

Hope people are feeling a bit better, it will get better I promise!

@Charlielechat i think when they are that small they can measure a few days out. Was that a private scan? Or EPU?
ive booked one for Wednesday and I’ll be 10+1. On one of my apps I’m one day further than the other apps. It’s very confusing lol.

smldnlove · 21/05/2023 19:28

@Charlielechat thinking to book mine on Wednesday too! will let you know!

Just been on a hen do and had a few sips of Prosecco but really did not enjoy it at all. Anyone else so surprised by the fact they haven’t been bothered not drinking?

I was definitely a wine drinker like a few glasses a week and haven’t missed a drop.

Mushroo · 21/05/2023 19:45

@smldnlove ive missed it less than I thought I would as I love wine! I won’t lie though, I’d have loved a glass of rose in the beer garden today.

I would say I’m finding socialising a bit more hard work, I’m done after a couple of hours, whereas with wine I’d always be the last at a party as I think the alcohol overrides my natural social awkwardness. I know it’s bad I use alcohol to socialise though to maybe these 9 months will be a good thing for me.

Pitstop1986 · 21/05/2023 20:22

My sickness is in full force still today. Went out for lunch, then had to run into a pub to use their toilets to throw it all back up again on the way back to the car. I had the barmaid knocking on the cubicle door asking if everything was OK, as I was violently voiding everything in my stomach!

Been reading posts online and it seems to be that those that are hit with sickness late (I'd just had nausea from 6 weeks until now) end up being sick up until at least 16-18 weeks!!! Here was me thinking that I was nearing 13 weeks, so was nearly safe, as this was when my nausea disappeared when I was pregnant with my daughter.

I hope it doesn't linger. This is horrible!

Charlielechat · 21/05/2023 20:25

@99SR It was at the EPU. Yeah the consultant wasn't worried about it so hopefully all is fine at the private one this week!

@smldnlove I surprisingly don't miss it either! @Mushroo I'm the exact same. I haven't really been to any social events with drink since I've been pregnant but my social battery definitely runs out a lot quicker these days lol! I have a wedding coming up soon and think I will definitely miss being drunk at it 🙈

Charlielechat · 21/05/2023 20:26

That sounds awful @Pitstop1986 I hope it doesn't last that long for you!

wannabemum38 · 21/05/2023 20:29

@smldnlove today was first day I missed alcohol. Went to a local festival with the DP and he had a cider and I had a non alcoholic beer. It was lovely and sunny and the music was playing and I could have really fancied a nice chilled rose or a cider with ice. But otherwise I'm quite happy with all the non alcoholic alternatives available these days. We have made sure our wedding venue is ordering in non alcoholic prosecco which is quite nice and will look like still drinking in the photos!
I'm not enjoying the cyclogest pessaries at all I switched to rectal and its starting to feel bit sore and when I go to loo I seem to be pooping out what looks like remains of pessarie so not sure ifs dissolving well enough. My symptoms have almost gone now which on one hand is great but then worries me. Can't wait to get to scan day and hopefully might finally be able to settle a bit and enjoy being blessed with this baby!

FfoxRedN · 21/05/2023 21:29

@wannabemum38 there is no nice way to describe the aftermath of the pessaries, what you have is totally normal! I can't wait to stop doing them!

Landsmen · 21/05/2023 21:57

My nausea settled for a while but had ramped up again last few days. Vomiting morning and evening. I'm taking metoclopramide whilst at work so not throwing up but still feeling nauseous.

Today there is a smell in the stairwell of my house smells like a week old nappy bag but there is nothing there cleaned from top to bottom and nobody else can smell it. I gag/ throw up every time I go downstairs. I thought I was on the upturn at 12+4.

I have my second attempt at 12 week scan on Wednesday I'll be 13 weeks but I'm going alone my husband has a big meeting. I'm so nervous

Justanothercyster · 22/05/2023 06:36

@Landsmen I'm sure it will all be ok, good luck. And weird about the smell!

I'm still trying to brave standing up as I can feel my stomach turning...

As for alcohol, I don't miss it as we barely drink anyhow, so I guess that's a perk lol. Tends to only be Xmas and bdays 🙈

NoodleQueen90 · 22/05/2023 06:53

@Mushroo, I'm the same as you at certain events 😂 I don't miss it that much generally eg if we're out for dinner when I'd usually enjoy a few glasses of wine, I'm now not bothered but I was at a ladies day in a social club a few weeks ago, it was on from 3:30-10pm and I was home with a takeaway by 6pm! I know we're not supposed to say it but I need alcohol to enjoy those types of parties. My sister said the same when we were there. I was yawning my head off and just couldn't wait to get home and put my slippers on 😂

Mushroo · 22/05/2023 07:00

@NoodleQueen90 yup exactly this! I’m supposed to be going to a work black tie event in a few weeks that I normally love, but it’s free alcohol all night and very boozy and just don’t think I can face that kind of thing! I’d want to be home by about 7pm 😂

Justanothercyster · 22/05/2023 07:35

Omg I forgot about the heartburn 😣 this is not fun!

SunSparkle · 22/05/2023 07:52

I had a work trip today and I couldn’t go as I’m just too nauseous and tired and sick. Seems my body likes to give me Sundays as respite but Saturdays and Monday are bad.

I don’t know whether to bother trying another medication or not. I’m desperate for something to shift the nausea.

SMG1992 · 22/05/2023 08:04

Morning all,
I'm feeling quite nauseous again today. I think I overdid it a bit at the weekend and should have taken more time to rest as now I'm dreading a 5 day week at work.
I've got another private scan booked later, not until 5.45pm, should be 10+1 so I'm really hoping we'll get some good photos and that all is going to be ok. My MMC stopped growing as 9 weeks so I'm feeling very anxious today!

Wineisgreat · 22/05/2023 08:32

@Itonlytakesaminute regarding waking up, I find just lying there the worst. I wake up and often feel sick so I now eat something straight away and then put on an audiobook on timer. It distracts me enough to go back to sleep usually. Audible is quite good.

NoodleQueen90 · 22/05/2023 09:43

Does anyone have any good excuses to give colleagues for a 10 day absence? My boss knows that I'm pregnant so it's not an official work excuse, she has agreed that I can work from home this week but I'm thinking when I go back into the office next week or on any teams calls this week, people will be asking if I'm ok....I don't know whether to just be really vague and say 'yes I'm feeling better thanks' and hope they don't ask what was wrong?
I was thinking if anyone did outright ask, I could just say a bad UTI? Hopefully they would be too embarrassed to quiz further lol unfortunately in my role I work with Doctors as well so it would need to be believable. There's one in particular that I think is rude enough to ask what I was off for.
Hoping to get a date for my 12wk scan through this week...it should be in the first 2 weeks in June so not long until I can tell them anyway.

ThomasinaLivesHere · 22/05/2023 09:47

@NoodleQueen90 i think a bad uti could work but I would just start by saying you weren’t well and just not be forthcoming with what it was. Most people wouldn’t push to know and even if they do you could just say you don’t want to share private medical info.

NoodleQueen90 · 22/05/2023 09:56

Thanks @ThomasinaLivesHere, you're right I should really just say nothing...OH said to tell them all to mind their own business but I'm not quite as straight talking as him 😂well seeing he doesn't work in an office environment.
It might feel a bit awkward as we usually all talk about these things and have a moan when we've been unwell but I'm sure they would realise why when I can eventually tell them.

NoodleQueen90 · 22/05/2023 10:58

Eek scan appointment just came through. 7th June so just over 2 weeks to wait. I'll be estimated at 12+6 according to LMP by then.

DaisyMay25 · 22/05/2023 12:41

@NoodleQueen90 could you say you had covid?

NoodleQueen90 · 22/05/2023 12:55

@DaisyMay25 good idea as it's so different for everyone. I'll only go there if anyone asks straight out what was wrong. Thanks 😊

RG84 · 22/05/2023 13:10

People should really just mind their own business and not ask questions. It's so bizarre, I would never ask a colleague other than 'hope you are feeling better' and not ask why, what, when.

I have my 12 week scan on the 14th June, I'll be 12+5. A little nervous as I'm a ceoliac and borderline diabetic. And no spring chicken either so very nervous.

DaisyMay25 · 22/05/2023 13:16

@RG84 I have mine on 14th June too!
