@DaisyMay25 ah amazing! We can go through this day together :)

I'm so tempted to book an early scan. I still have my booking appointment on the 31st May.

DaisyMay25 · 22/05/2023 13:43

@RG84 only 23 days to go 😂
I've got my booking appointment tomorrow

I'm unsure about another early scan too, I need to talk to my husband about it and see what he thinks

RG84 · 22/05/2023 14:33

@DaisyMay25 I know right and I'm such an impatient person as it is 😭

My partner is completely against getting an early scan, he says its only a couple of weeks left! So the countdown is on 🤦🏾‍♀️

On another note, I'm not sure how my employer is going to feel about this, not that I care as I had nearly 2 years off on maternity so only been back to work for a year.

Oh well 🤷🏽‍♀️

wannabemum38 · 22/05/2023 15:25

I was really really sick all night and all this morning so had to call in sick again. Not great was meant to be in office at Team meeting and at my first 1 to 1 she said she was concerned at my time off I've been there a month and already had 5 days off. Think i might need to come clean when I do my back to work form even though i really wanted to wait until my scan but last thing I want is to lose my job!!

SunSparkle · 22/05/2023 15:29

My scan is on the 16th. Anyone else? Last time I had an early private scan due to covid as I wanted my partner there but holding out this time around.

spoke to another doctor today and have two more sickness meds to try and I’ve had the day off work today and just slept and generally rested so hoping this week is better!

house is a total state but housework can wait.

I bought a pack of sleepsuits in tescos the other day as it was lovely to actually think of something positive about being pregnant and doing something nice for baby.

SMG1992 · 22/05/2023 15:45

@wannabemum38 it might be worth just mentioning either to HR or your line manager confidentiality so they can't use the pregnancy related sickness against you.

wannabemum38 · 22/05/2023 15:55

@SMG1992 yeah my manager does form with me so i was thinking of having a word with her then just saying I'm.not usually ill like this but I'm pregnant but I didn't really want to have to say anything yet as for me it's still an anxious time and don't want rest of team to know yet.

NoodleQueen90 · 22/05/2023 15:58

@wannabemum38 , I second telling either HR or your line manager only and making it clear that you want it to be kept confidential just now. I've done that and my boss has been great, she has just recorded it everywhere as 'sickness' so that no other managers are aware yet and has approved paid time off for my scan as well.
On another note, I got my sick line through from the GP and they've recorded the reason as hyperemesis gravidarum which I definitely don't have! I told them I'd been feeling exhausted, nauseous, constipated and generally not well enough to do my job but not once have I said I vomited...they're so random sometimes!

Charlielechat · 22/05/2023 17:18

@SunSparkle mine is also on the 16th 😊

My nausea is back again - actually relieved 😂 Boobs are only sore sometimes but I do think the tenderness had lessened somewhat anyway in the last week or so.

RG84 · 22/05/2023 17:18

@wannabemum38 you shouldn't feel you have to tell your employer before your scan or at any point. If you are ill you are ill, and I don't know about any other employer but I know once you tell them, they are meant to give you sick days back if you are going to antenatal appointments.
Personally I would hold off telling them until YOU are ready to tell them, not because you are being forced to tell them.
Take care of yourself and focus on yourself. After having my daughter in 2020, being a first time mum and during covid, it's taught me, put YOU and your mental health first.

wannabemum38 · 22/05/2023 17:25

@RG84 Thanks I'm really torn as to what to do my scan is next week so I'm not sure.

Straightomyhead · 22/05/2023 18:50

I'm 8 weeks 5 days today and suffering with the worst tiredness and nausea. Luckily only been sick a couple of times but the constant feeling of it if it is the worst.

I have my first telephone call with the maternity unit tomorrow but I'm on a conference so not really sure I will be able to chat to them and might have to delay it. They only sent me a text today about it.

Looking forward to reaching the scan date and being about to share the news with my friends. Feel like I am living a life of lies at the moment as they don't know yet and we're going to a festival on Saturday and I'm suddenly not drinking and taking a picnic blanket for a rest!!

Please someone say this tiredness gets better soon.

joyjoy23 · 22/05/2023 18:58

@wannabemum38 No right or wrong here. My advice would be to pick the path of least resistance. I told my manager very early on because there was a work event coming up that involved travelling and physical activity, and I couldn't do either of those things at that point. I didn't particularly fancy coming up with a random reason, so I just decided to let her know. She's been nothing but supportive and discrete ever since. Good luck in your conversation whatever you decide and keep us posted 😊

I am having my 12-week scan on 1st June when I will be 13+1 based on LMP. Excited and nervous at the same time. Anyone else having theirs on 1st June?

Mushroo · 22/05/2023 19:00

@Straightomyhead im feeling awful today as well. After feeling fine for weeks I’ve come to the realisation that might be because I live a very easy life in a stress free wfh job.

I was at a conference today which I had to travel to (2 hours on the train), I had to leave early as I genuinely couldn’t keep my eyes open and felt so sick in the car ride from the train to my house. Now recuperating on the sofa !

wannabemum38 · 22/05/2023 19:03

@joyjoy23 Thanks yeah my mum thinks I should hold off telling them, my DP thinks I should tell them seeing as they have already expressed concern over my absence its difficult cos stupid as it sounds I'm so nervous about my scan anyway that all is OK I don't want to tell people to jinx it.
My scan is also 1st June and I'll be 12+5 so not far off you ;)

SMG1992 · 22/05/2023 19:39

Had my scan, measuring 10 weeks 3 days. I can’t believe it looked like a little baby wiggling around. So lovely to see
2 weeks until my 12 week scan, counting down

Justanothercyster · 22/05/2023 19:55

Just had a scan, I'm supposedly 9+3 going by the scan a couple of weeks ago but measuring ahead now at 10 weeks 🙈

Aww congrats @Justanothercyster feels like a little win when that happens

Depends how baby is lying - in one scan mine was in 3 different positions, all measuring 3 different dates. 12+1, 12+2 and 12+3. This is why they say is accurate to +/- 5 days 😂

Charlielechat · 22/05/2023 20:13

@Justanothercyster @SMG1992 congrats on your scans! 😊 Lovely reassurance for you

DaisyMay25 · 22/05/2023 20:20

@SunSparkle that's excited you've bought something! I make imaginary baskets online, I look at Vinted too and favourite things and have a browse on marketplace. Think I'll start after 12 week scan just buying little things

jadey1991 · 22/05/2023 20:21

Hello all. Hooe you don't mind me joining..
I'm currently expecting my 4th baby. I'm 11 weeks

DaisyMay25 · 22/05/2023 20:23

@SMG1992 @Justanothercyster great news about scans! Very exciting!

The 12 week ones will start soon for everyone 🤞🏻

Justanothercyster · 22/05/2023 20:47

Thanks everyone 💕 glad to hear other scans went well. We're nearly there ladies, few more weeks until (hopefully) slightly less anxiety lol.

@FlyingHighFlyingLow yeah tbh it matches my original dates that I worked out so it makes sense to me
