@OnNaturesCourse only advice I can give is lots of rest, fluids and eat little and often, have you tried ginger tea? X

OnNaturesCourse · 29/04/2023 13:44

No but I have nibbled on ginger biscuits but they seem to make my heartburn worse.

Mummy1502 · 29/04/2023 14:21

@OnNaturesCourse feel for you, I had hg in my third pregnancy and spent so much time in and out of hospital, hope it gets better for you soon x

Mushroo · 29/04/2023 14:32

@OnNaturesCourse that sounds rubbish, hopefully the GP can help on Monday.

In the meantime does treating it as a hangover help at all? Full fat coke / lucozade and plain food like toast.

Just take it easy in the meantime as well.

PhyllisVance23 · 29/04/2023 17:38

@OnNaturesCourse my nausea has been horrific all week. From when I open my eyes until bed. It was like this with my first. Don't think it's HG as I'm not properly puking, heaving constantly and sometimes a little comes out (soz).
Eating tiny amounts often seems to make it less bad, a bit. It's still dreadful. Mash potato, toast and cheese, salty crisps, Jacob's crackers. My main problem is ALL drink is disgusting to me. I'm so dehydrated. I don't want to destroy my teeth by sipping sugary drinks all day, and I don't fancy them either, but water is a no no for me. Any tips on drinks girls? Tea and coffee urgh no no no. Such a weird thing to be put off - drink!

Wineisgreat · 29/04/2023 17:40

@PhyllisVance23 sorry you're feeling so rough. What about squash or even an ice lolly? I'm getting by on fizzy water which I find helps me burp and feel a tiny bit better.

I was similar with my first pregnancy. I don't do tea and coffee so my go to was fizzy drinks and I couldn't stomach anything fizzy.
I ended up having squash a lot (every drink). I found it was easier for me when it was with ice cold water or added ice and I would just sip on it.
Hope it might help. Xx

Retrogamer · 29/04/2023 18:05

Not sure if it will help anyone else, but I've been putting sliced lemon or lime into still or fizzy water. It sometimes cuts through the nausea

Rainbowdust557 · 29/04/2023 18:22

That sounds really rough! @PhyllisVance23
Maybe try having things like ice lollies, watermelon, cucumber for liquid. Things with a high water content.
@OnNaturesCourse For the heartburn omeprozele will be your friend! Ginger beer once you've got the heartburn sorted? x

HannahLouD · 29/04/2023 19:24

Sorry to everyone who is feeling so rough!
With my daughter I lived on rich tea biscuits and banana when I could stomach it. Think water was the only thing I could really drink as well.

Not sure what to do and wondering what others would do?...
I have another scan on Wednesday where I should be 8+3 🤞 next Sunday (where all being well I'll be 9 weeks) we are going for a BBQ at my partner's grandparents house... His mum lives about a 7 hour drive away and she's going to be there. The next time we'll see her after next weekend will be when we go and visit her in August... A few other members of his family who we only see a few times a year will be there too... do we tell his mum at the BBQ so we can tell her in person? (It'll be her first grandchild as it's out first child together) or do we wait until after the 12 week scan (which will actually only be 11+2 for me, so only 2 weeks later) and tell her over the phone? 🤔 I really want to tell her, but don't know if people will judge us telling them too early/before the "proper" scan? (Ideally just want his mum to know but I know she won't be able to keep it quiet 😂😅)x

wannabemum38 · 29/04/2023 22:03

@HannahLouD noone will judge you for when you tell people I think you should be able to tell anyone at anytime you feel comfortable. Is there a way you could pull her to one side towards to the end of the get together and explain you wanted to tell her in person but would rather wait until the next scan to tell others. That way hopefully people may have gone home so she won't have a chance to blab?

HannahLouD · 30/04/2023 06:56

@wannabemum38 thanks for the reply!
I was thinking of trying to wait until the end to speak to her, but I think a couple of people are staying over there (including her) so we won't be the last ones to leave. I'm sure if we told her she would try to keep it hush, but she's an extremely loud, excitable lady as it is, so I can't really see it happening 😅
I guess we'll wait and see if all is still ok on Wednesday first 🤞🙏 and then go from there... I don't really mind others knowing (I think the only other people there will be his grandparents and two sets of uncles/aunties), I think it's more me worrying people will think its silly we didn't wait until 12 weeks... Dunno why I'm worried about that though 😅 I told the whole world the day after my positive pregnancy test with my daughter 🙈😂x

Justanothercyster · 30/04/2023 07:59

Good luck to those with scans today! Let us know how you get on.

Sorry to those feeling rough as well, it's really horrible. I'm so fed up of the nausea and gagging already. I second the sparkling water and squash to keep hydrated.

My trousers are already starting to get too tight 😭 I know they say you can start to show earlier with your second, but I didn't think I'd have a little bump this early! It's a bit ridiculous... I thought it was just bloat or my bowel being pushed up as I read online, but it's like i have a hard mango around my uterus 🙈 this pic is before I've eaten anything, my husband said there better only be one in there 😂

HannahLouD · 30/04/2023 08:13

@Justanothercyster how far along are you??
I'm 8 weeks today and feel like I have a tiny bump forming but surely not?! My tummy is usually pretty flat so seems really noticeable to me. I noticed my bump forming at 11 weeks with my daughter (first and only child) which I thought was early then. I was absolutely massive with her. I only put on 10lbs (and she was 7.5lbs) but my bump was out of control from so early on...

HannahLouD · 30/04/2023 08:33

This is just massive bloat right? (Before eating anything 😭)
Also excuse the mess 😶😅

Justanothercyster · 30/04/2023 09:19

@HannahLouD I was exactly the same with my daughter, fairly slim so I ballooned very quickly! I'd say that's definitely a bit of a bump. I read that it's not the baby obvs because they're so small but the uterus pushes everything up and because our bellies have done it already we don't stretch as slowly

Justanothercyster · 30/04/2023 09:23

@HannahLouD forgot to say, I'm only 6+5

SMG1992 · 30/04/2023 09:57

@Justanothercyster and @HannahLouD same here with expanding waistline - my “big jeans” were right yesterday so I think that’s it for me and jeans at just over 6 weeks!
not sure if it’s because I was pregnant so recently back in January so things didn’t go back to normal but I don’t want to buy any maternity until 12 weeks

wannabemum38 · 30/04/2023 10:15

@Justanothercyster thanks pooping myself leaving in about 30 minutes just praying all is OK

Rainbowdust557 · 30/04/2023 10:53

I had a scan today and all is well so far! So, so happy! 😁

Mushroo · 30/04/2023 10:57

@Rainbowdust557 amazing news!! How many weeks are you?

HappyPie82 · 30/04/2023 11:00

Nausea has well and truly come for me today at 6+5. Even looking at recipes to meal plan for the week had me dry heaving and going round Asda is torture. I’m buying food I hope will tempt me but right now the only thing I can face is ice pops!
Going to tell my parents this afternoon. I’m really nervous for some reason. I think it’s because I’m worried they will say it’s too close to our wedding (next august)

Charlielechat · 30/04/2023 12:15

Congratulations @Rainbowdust557 that's brilliant!

wannabemum38 · 30/04/2023 12:39

Happy to report my scan went very well. I was so nervous before hand but they were so nice and gentle with me and agreed to a normal US as I was apprehensive about having an internal. But we saw our little sticky bean and it's heart was flickering away. It's also dating at 8+1 exactly so bang on my LMP dates. I burst into tears when I saw it on the screen.
There is also an empty gestational sac with a small yolk next to it so there may have been twins but she said I will get more clarification at my next scan! I'm happy to just have the 1!! Absolutely bonkers but so so happy best day of my life!

Charlielechat · 30/04/2023 12:45

Ah @wannabemum38 that is fantastic news! Such a relief for you! Hopefully you get some clarity on the other little sac next time.
So reassuring hearing these positive stories!
