@LeeanneD11 they don't show you the screen until they've taken a look. Both babies they said 'just going to get myself sorted first', so done in a casual and discreet way. First thing they said both times was then 'I can see a heartbeat and there's one in there'. Very quick to give you the bits you want to know right away.

I've been symptom free for weeks, just the growing tum.

@Thack I went for my scan a couple of weeks ago and they had their screen and then there was a screen above that we could see. I asked if my scan came up on the screen straight away and she said yes, I asked if she could turn it off as I just want to know there's a heartbeat first. I couldn't believe it, with my other children they always checked and turned their screen round to show me. As soon as I knew there was a heartbeat I asked for it turning back on but I don't think it's right that they have it there on show right away.

@LeeanneD11 I was exactly the same, couldn't sleep in the run up to the scan. Can't really give any words of advice, but loss of symptoms isn't out of the ordinary. Hope you manage to calm your nerves, I'm sure once you see your baby all happy in your tummy you'll relax xx

Once I know there is a heartbeat flickering and everything is ok I'll be fine my anxiety level will lower & might be able to sleep better , but atm I'm really struggling . I find it hard to open up to people . These nerves have been going on for a while now since 9 weeks when I last saw the heartbeat . It's a horrible feeling xx

It really is an awful feeling. I was scanned at 6+5 then at 12+5 and that waiting seems like an eternity. I'm nervous for my 20 week scan now in 5 weeks time but hopefully I'll feel some definite movements before then that will help put my mind at ease. I've got an anterior placenta which I've never had before so not sure what to expect in the way of movements which is typical as this is the only pregnancy I've really had worries about. When did you say your scan is?

@Thack it's crazy right! It was better for seeing the baby instead of having to turn my neck but to have it on from the start isn't good in my opinion x

Just found this group today.
13weeks today by ovulation or 13w2 if I go with the 12w scan!
Had 2 miscarriages last year and had a scare earlier in this pregnancy but things seem to be going ok now. I have the worst constipation, random aches and twinges and I’m nervous as hell but overwhelmingly excited to temper that!
Hope everyone’s doing ok! 😊

@LeeanneD11 mine is on friday! So nervous too, fingers crossed we finish the week with seeing our little ones jumping around ❤

I shouldn’t ask as it’ll only play on my
mind.. but I just got back from holiday & have the results back from my 12 week scan & even though the percentages are still tiny & it’s low risk just feel worried as the other numbers I’ve seen on forums are higher. Google really is the devil! Has anybody else had theirs? Or previous pregnancy numbers? I’m 1/3436 for downs & 1/20000 for Edward & Patau!

Mine were both 1/5000. Which I was surprised about because my last pregnancy was 1/30000 I think. But if you're older that affects it. Either way they're very low risk

@Mldnah I feel you, personally I deliberately didn’t google it because I think the numbers are so minuscule so there is no point stressing. I’m older so my odds are a hell of a lot higher than yours (first time I have seen others to compare and yelp, yep mine are worse) and I was still thrilled when I got the letter. When I felt anxious about it later I thought ok what’s the alternative, would you get a TFMR for those numbers? Obviously not so I will just have to see. Not sure if that helps you but it seemed to put things into perspective for me! x

Ahhh so sorry to share my numbers @spanglesj - I should’ve thought & not been as insensitive! Apologies to anybody else that didn’t want the comparison. Defo not thinking of terminating etc, but just felt a bit flat against other numbers I had seen. Which is my own fault for searching forums etc! But as you say.. the %age is still minuscule! I’m 35 so imagine that puts me in a higher age bracket which will impact the odds! Thanks for your response x

Anyone’s 20 week scan a bit late? Mines booked for 22+2

@medicmumma yeah I’ll be 21 weeks. Is that ok or is there a window like the 12 wks scan?

@Mldn aw no it’s ok, sorry if it sounded like that, I think there is a certain level of accepting that we might see stuff on this thread anyway isn’t there🫣 not your fault for googling it’s flipping hard not to!!! I am 42 so I expected it to be worse than it was tbh hence the happy tears when I had a 4 figure number not 3. ☺️ x

Had my dating scan today and baby was all happy and healthy and measuring 14 weeks 1 day.
The sonographer said some measurements were too big to do NT, but others were spot on the 84mm cut off, so she was able to take a measurement and I had my bloods taken afterwards too.
Feeling very relieved after such a bumpy start, so hope it’s smooth sailing from here!
