@Mrsrobinsonx I have found smoothies help a lot a make them myself with frozen fruit and the nutri-bullet. Try and avoid too many carbs. Lots of water. Also a warm bath helpful x

Thack · 24/04/2023 21:17

@NatGee I need to get more juices in my life!

I've cut down to one tea a day, with the occasional second.
I haven't found a decaf I like. Does anyone have any recommendations?

Spareincoming · 24/04/2023 21:18

@Mrsrobinsonx also using something as a squatty-potty if you don’t already. TMI but mine is in use much earlier this pregnancy than previous! 😑

NatGee · 24/04/2023 21:33

@Spareincoming apparently thats how you're meant to do it all the time anyway ! you're ahead of the game :)

@Thack I bought some rooibos the other day. like most things these days, i enjoyed it for a short while and now ive gone off it. Its nice with a few drops of lemon juice. Peppermint tea is caffeine free too

Alloveragain3 · 24/04/2023 21:35

@Mldn My midwife said that after 12 weeks we only need to take Vit D and Folic acid. I loathe the Pregnacare so once this packet runs out (I'll be about 14 weeks) I've got a tiny B vitamin and a Vitamin D spray I'll switch to.

Spareincoming · 24/04/2023 23:07

@Mldn aftwr 12 weeks you can stop the folic acid; it’s work in pregnancy development is done but iron and Vit D is usually recommended.
Folic acid tablets don’t agree with me at all and my consultant has always been happy for me to knock them on the head at 12 weeks. Midwife too.
I am significantly vitamin D deficient though so take hige doses of that daily!

Chellooo · 25/04/2023 07:27

Scan day! 12+2 , first time seeing baba...absolutely bricking it

Sb86 · 25/04/2023 07:40

How exciting @Chellooo and also nervewracking I know. Hope all goes well 🥰

FfoxRedN · 25/04/2023 08:16

@Chellooo I have everything crossed for you 🥰 xx

flowerlover1990 · 25/04/2023 08:29

@Tryingtoconceivenumber2 Aw congratulations 😊 So jealous you were able to go for a carvery and eat some normal food too. I miss normal food so much! Yes this is my first.. so all very unknown at the moment. Sickness has been really awful since week 5, really hoping it starts to calm down now. Have you had any scans yet?

@Houseonthehills ah do you?? How have you been feeling in general? Do the girls on the hen weekend know your news yet? Mine don't... but I'll be just under 12 weeks when we go, so plan to tell them on the week leading up to it. Just really hoping I can go... I definitely couldn't go as I am now, I am way too sick. Fingers crossed for us!

JD90 · 25/04/2023 08:29

Had a nice, easy, relatively nausea free day yesterday... apparently today we're making up for that 🤦🏻‍♀️🤢🤢🤢

Also with regards to constipation, thanks to the sickness I've had awful constipation, got some laxatives from the gp (after i hadnt been able to go for over a week), was a massive mistake, yes it cleared everything out but it caused such cramping etc that I was sweating and vomiting even more, and then after a day was back to square one. Back to just trying to keep more foor and drink down and hope for the best I guess...

Tryingtoconceivenumber2 · 25/04/2023 08:57

@flowerlover1990 hopefully your sickness passes soon. Yes I had a private scan at 7+3 and all was fine. They moved me on a few days.

I would definitely tell them the week before. On my hen one of my best friends called us all in to her hotel room at the start ( I thought we had gone in there as they had a surprise for me) and announced she was 5 weeks pregnant. I'm never one to make anything about me but it totally stole the show and I'm not sure why she did it like that x

Sb86 · 25/04/2023 09:06

@Tryingtoconceivenumber2 isn't it weird how some people don't see that being out of order?! One of my friends pretty much told everyone that she was pregnant but to "keep it a secret" at one of my best friends wedding. She'd only just found out but was holding her tummy like she was ready to give birth so everyone knew anyway...it still gets mentioned to this day and it was over 10 years ago 🤦🏼‍♀️ I just don't understand some people!

flowerlover1990 · 25/04/2023 09:23

@Tryingtoconceivenumber2 lovely. Glad everything was all ok. Oh gosh that's so awful 🙈 I can't believe your friend did that! I'm really really aware that I don't want anything to 'be about me' on her hen weekend.. which is why I'm even considering not going. I don't want to be a burden in any way if I'm sick. I don't want any of the girls to feel like they need to look after me. I need to be fighting fit if I'm going to go!

NatGee · 25/04/2023 09:35

@flowerlover1990 youre a good friend

can't believe the others @Sb86 @Tryingtoconceivenumber2 id be so embarrassed. But some people love the limelight and being the centre of attention 😶

Tryingtoconceivenumber2 · 25/04/2023 09:42

@NatGee and @Sb86 yes was really shocked as very out of character and lots of others who didn't know her at all had asked me by the end of the night if she was pregnant.

There were so many of us that day that I honestly wouldn't have noticed what she was drinking etc and she definitely wasn't ill. @flowerlover1990 you definitely sound like you are going about it the right way. I am sure they will be thrilled for you x

I’ll be just over 12, and I haven’t told them yet. I’ve been very sick, Dr prescribed Cyclizine for my sickness last week
but for some reason I’ve been nervous to start it but yesterday was so bad I took my first tablet this morning. Like you im hoping I feel better when then time comes xx

GemmaJen · 25/04/2023 10:41

Got our combined screening test results back today, low risk at 1 in 5000 which is much lower than I had with my daughter, I believe she was a 1 in 250 result.

12w6d Physically doing better, nausea is so much milder in the last few days, though I am exhausted all the time, I don't think it's helped by my mental state. Still feeling incredibly anxious. And while I had no spots with my daughter for 9 whole months (was totally looking forward to that). I'm m riddled, my face and neck look like a right mess, just adding low self esteem to my anxiety, pregnancy is intense 😑

Spareincoming · 25/04/2023 11:11

Just sitting outside the place where I had my last NIPT bloods done - having a redraw at 11.30am - wish me luck.

The almost 3 hour drive down here was less than fun! I’m going shopping on the way home; to break up the journey obviously- Ikea here I come!

Skyla01 · 25/04/2023 12:07

@Chellooo exciting - hope everything goes well!

@flowerlover1990 hope you are feeling better by the time the hen comes round. I think telling them the week before is a good idea.

Chellooo · 25/04/2023 13:34

Hi Ladies, just home and little wriggler was kicking away! Strong heartbeat and dancing like a trooper. Am absolutely buzzing! ❤️

spanglesj · 25/04/2023 13:44

That’s wonderful news for you @Chellooo especially as first scan you have had! Such a relief I hope they gave you a nice pic. :)

@Mrsrobinsonx i have always used lactulose for constipation in pregnancy and midwifes say safe for pregnancy but always worth checking. It’s not a laxative, it’s a bottle of sugar liquid that draws water into the bowel - works so well. Only thing is you need to be somewhat hydrated when you use it and I am really struggling to keep anything down! Good luck with going ha ha.

spanglesj · 25/04/2023 14:07

@Thack i think that Clipper decaf tea is the nicest , I’ve tried a few !

spanglesj · 25/04/2023 14:09

@Spareincoming good luck with your NIPT hope it goes well for you today!

do people do it privately? I have just opted for the NHS route for now (where you only get NIPT if the odds come out high on bloods and scan)

Mldn · 25/04/2023 14:34

@Chellooo amazing news! You must’ve had the longest ever first trimester & patience of a saint not to book a sneaky private scan!! Congrats 🤍
