Hello all. Here is a fresh thread to fill up with lots of chitchat and milestones. So sorry if I’ve missed anyone out or got the EDD wrong. I tried to look back through but there were so many messages 😅 I’m sure I must’ve missed some people out. Many apologies, it wasn’t intentional. Sending hugs to all. 🥰🌈👶🏻🤰🏻

@Skw11 pleased it all turned out ok, and that you got seen quickly!! Thank you for sharing 💕

Bizzybee900 · 26/06/2023 23:17

@Skw11 that sounds so scary, glad you were looked after and are taking a day off to recover.
@ashz welcome to the group. I think the movements I feel are more like what @Houseelf90 describes than 10 kicks per hour!
Sorry to hear you had a hard day @Houseelf90 with your previous due date 💐it's difficult isn't it.

ooohoobigsummerblowout · 27/06/2023 20:22

Hi everyone 🤓 Just found this thread, due Sep 26th 💕 Excited to be in last trimester, amazed at how much stuff varies based on location / trust and have been using 2 different pregnancy pillows for weeks - couldn't live without them! 🤣 Also pleasantly surprised at having survived the heat pretty well - though beginning to think being chunky set me up well for pregnancy in some respects! 🤭

kl1999 · 28/06/2023 14:19

@Skw11 Wow - I can't imagine how that situation must have felt for you and your partner. However I'm really pleased and relieved all is well with you and baby (albeit you may have an infection!) ❤ Sending lots of love and hugs xx

@ashz Welcome to the group! Congratulations 💕 Movement is 100% different for each individual for various reasons. Much like what @log51 about position of your placenta - that plays a really big part. Baby boy always seems pretty active throughout the day, and especially on a night time. But then I may go a few hours with absolutely nothing! Your sonographer should have noted down what position your placenta was at during your scans, might be worth checking your scan notes to see? xx

kl1999 · 28/06/2023 14:22

@ooohoobigsummerblowout Welcome to the group! Amazing to think where we all are right now - its incredible ❤💙

Hope everyone is doing well. Time is flying by so quickly! Almost doesn't seem real. It's so nice to be on this journey with so many lovely people xx

Astar21 · 29/06/2023 12:08

@ooohoobigsummerblowout and @ashz welcome to the group 🌈 it's lovely to have such a supportive network!

How is everyone doing?

My 28w appointment went smoothly. Midwife took measurement and had a feel of bump/listened to the heartbeat and could tell baby is now head down in the anterior position. They were breach at the last appointment. And I have to say this last week the kicks feel different. So fingers crossed it stays that way now!

If you girls haven't already, I recommend signing up to the Boots parenting club. I went yesterday and got some good freebies!
Going to order the pram and baby seat in a couple of weeks, it's all getting exciting! 🥰

Skw11 · 29/06/2023 15:19

Thanks for the love all ♥ had my 28w appt and I have low iron and somehow a consultant note in my file saying i should have glucose test got missed, so my third tri has started with quite a few bits of admin! I am knackered which I can now at least explain by the low iron. Bought a "sleep belt" for night time too, looked neater than a pillow, will see how I go! Lovely to hear baby again and have the midwife show me where they are x

CaliGirl47 · 01/07/2023 17:11

Hi all. 👋🏼 I hope you all are well. Just catching up on all the latest.

I’m so sorry to hear about your scary experience @Skw11 that sounded very nerve wracking. I’m so glad that all worked out okay and you were well supported at the hospital. I had my GTT the other day and the drink was unpleasant. One of the other poor ladies actually fainted flat on the floor (maybe because of low blood sugars?) She was in the best of hands but it was still scary. So I’d recommend not getting up and trying to walk around if you feel funny. Just in case. I haven’t heard anything back yet, so I’m hoping that means I’m in the clear. Hopefully yours goes well. And hopefully you feel better once your iron levels improve. I’ve been taking Active Iron pregnancy plus which has an absorbable iron capsule, multivitamin tablet, and omega 3 capsule. It’s a bit expensive imo and can have an awful after taste, but I’m hoping it will help boost my blood count leading up to labour.

welcome to the group @ashz and @ooohoobigsummerblowout 🤗🤰🏻

I totally agree with you @kl1999 I can’t believe how the second trimester has flown by and now we’re in the last trimester. It still doesn’t feel real at times. Almost feels like I won’t believe I really get to take a baby home until I see her in my arms. 🥹🥲

But a bit of nesting has definitely kicked in this week. All the sudden I felt very motivated yesterday to climb up in the loft and look for the newborn clothes I saved from DD1 😅 although it was so nice to look through all of DD1 tiny baby things and going down memory lane, I swiftly regretted all the bending and climbing that I had to do to get upstairs. 😅 Woops.

I’m definitely starting to notice a pattern in baby’s movements. It’s always so reassuring to feel her. She’s had quite a lot of hiccups this week. She’s already had three bouts of hiccups today 😂 it always tickles me, picturing her in there with her tiny baby hiccups. Anyone else having lots of hiccups?

So glad your 28 week appointment went well @Astar21 it amazes me how the midwives can tell baby’s position just from feeling around. And well done baby for being head down and ready to go. 👍🏼😁 I’ve been bouncing on an exercise ball most evenings to try to get baby into the best position. DD1 was back to back which made for a very painful back labour so I’m really hoping I don’t have that again. Good tip about Boots as well, I’ll have to check it out. I need to look into which car seat to get. Has anyone got any recommendations for infant car seats?

Okay so I just found this Maxi-Cosi Cabriofix bundle on John Lewis for £179 and snapped it up. A bit of an impulse purchase, but I had Maxi Cosi before and never had any issues.

https://www.johnlewis.com/maxi-cosi-cabriofix-i-size-baby-car-seat-and-isofix-base-authentic-black/p6345619

😆 Haha I don’t think I’ll find a bundle any more reasonably priced than that. And I already have my pushchair from DD1 saved so I didn't need a whole pushchair bundle. Man it makes it feel more real once you start doing these big purchases 🥹🥲

OP posts:
Houseelf90 · 02/07/2023 17:12

@CaliGirl47 glad you got a car seat chosen and on a good deal! Definitely makes it feel real doesn’t it! We’ve got most of the big things now, mainly spread between parents/grandparents houses! I think we will bring the cot here and build that in a couple of week, and then bring everything else here after we get back from our break mid august!

I’ve had a bit of a week of it, Wednesday night I had an “appointment” with urgent care unit at a local hospital, due to low blood pressure, dizziness and loss of balance. They didn’t stick to the appointment time at all and we ended up getting home at 1am 😴
Then Friday evening I didn’t feel much movement, Saturday I spent the day on the sofa feeling ill, again with a lack of movement so this morning I went to maternity triage for reduced movement. Baby’s heart rate was fine thankfully (around 150 - seems high to me as usually around 136 but the midwife seemed happy!) however my heart rate was high (quite usual with my SVT) so I had to stay in until my heart rate settled around 100.
My urine sample showed I’ve got a urine infection so am assuming the dizziness etc in the week has been down to the UTI!! Given how common they are in pregnancies my other half is annoyed my urine wasn’t tested in hospital in the week and we essentially wasted 3 hours sat in hospital!
I have my GTT tomorrow morning and midwife on Friday morning, I’ll be glad of a little break from appointments after that!

CaliGirl47 · 03/07/2023 16:04

Oh man that sounds so stressful. I’m so sorry you went through that. Hopefully your GTT went smoothly today and baby had a little dance party from the sugar rush. @Houseelf90

When I had my GTT I thought baby would have a sugar rush and dance party. So I panicked when I had no movement at all and as soon as I was finished I went down to triage and they did a ctg. But then I was sat on the machine for at least an hour and I’m not sure they really even looked at the results very much 🥴 but by then baby was moving a little bit more and I needed to leave to pickup DD1 from school.

I’ve come down with a cold this weekend and I’ve noticed baby’s movements slow down again. Not sure if it’s because I’m unwell. But I thought with me lying down resting more that I’d feel loads of movement and I’m definitely feeling less and not so many big strong movements as usual. So if it doesn’t improve by this evening then I’ll be inclined to go back again. It’s so hard to know what’s going on in there, and I just keep picturing worst case scenario. 😢 Trying to keep a balanced state of mind and carry on with my usual tasks.

OP posts:
Houseelf90 · 03/07/2023 19:11

@CaliGirl47 thank you! I was worried about passing out having 2 blood tests without eating but managed not to pass out 😅
I did go very hot, dizzy and felt very sick waiting so was pleased when it was over! And I’ve had a nice long sleep on the sofa this afternoon, it’s becoming a bit of a regular thing!

Bless you, I hope you’re starting to feel better? It does seem that possibly there is a link between feeling unwell and baby moving less, although when I was searching at the weekend I couldn’t find anything to confirm that! Definitely much better to get checked out though, I thought like I would feel I was wasting their time but it was the complete opposite, they’d much rather you go in and be checked wouldn’t they! How are the movements now? Any improvement or are you going to get checked?

Skw11 · 03/07/2023 20:13

@CaliGirl47 sorry you're having a hard day. I totally agree with @Houseelf90 that it's better to go in always, just in case ♥ hope you're feeling better and baby's more on the move xxx

CaliGirl47 · 04/07/2023 15:00

Thank you both @Houseelf90 and @Skw11

I’ve woke up feeling a bit better today and baby seems a bit better too. I’ve had some big strong kicks and bounces today (like she used to do before) so that’s really helped me. I drank loads of water yesterday so idk if that’s helped make a difference today. But it seems better. 💕 Hope you’re all having a good day.

Oh my, I’m so glad you didn’t faint @Houseelf90 Hopefully your results come back all clear. Haha afternoon naps are the best. It reaches about 3/4 PM and a nice little nap is just what I need to recharge me for the rest of the day. 😆

Skw11 · 04/07/2023 15:13

@CaliGirl47 glad to hear this 😊 and yes for sure on the water, my midwife said to me only last week that a top cause of reduced movement is dehydration - so again, it's still absolutely worth getting checked if worried but drinking lots is definitely what we should be doing! X

Houseelf90 · 04/07/2023 15:54

@CaliGirl47 glad both you and baby are feeling better! Always such a worry when things don’t seem right isn’t it!!
I've taken a few days off work so have spent half of today asleep on the sofa again 🙈 it’s going to be a shock going back to work tomorrow and staying awake all day 😂🙈

Daisy155 · 08/07/2023 15:30

@CaliGirl47 glad you and baby are doing really well! It’s really worrying I have been told whenever in doubt just go in anytime rather be there than not knowing if baby is ok!

I hope you are feeling more and more big movements

my anterior placenta makes me not feel the movement properly but I just keep going into the hospital every time I left my job a few weeks ago so that I could focus on going into the hospital at anytime! Xx

Houseelf90 · 11/07/2023 18:54

Anyone else feel like baby know when you’re in triage hooked up for monitoring due to reduced movements 😬 on the monitor and baby currently kicking like mad 🤯 feel like a complete fraud being here!!!

How is everyone doing?
Anyone got any growth scans coming up?

Astar21 · 11/07/2023 22:19

@Houseelf90 I've heard people say that before 😂 better to be safe and get checked though! Glad to hear baby is kicking away. I thought baby was quiet lastnight so I had a fizzy drink and lay on my side, all was fine! I'm tired from getting up in the night for a wee what feels like every hour 😫 32w growth scan in 2 weeks time! Looking forward to seeing what they say 👶🏼

Houseelf90 · 11/07/2023 22:34

@Astar21 yes I’m glad it’s not just me and I’ve seen other people say it 🙈
Bless you, I usually wake up around 4am wanting a wee! And then I can’t get back to sleep until just before my alarm goes off!!
I have a 32week scan in 3 weeks to check my placenta has moved out the way, but they’re also booking me a scan in for this week following reduced movements, just got to call in the morning for an appointment but she said it should be soonest available 🤞🏼 will be nice to see baby again especially after a couple of episodes of reduced movement!

Bizzybee900 · 11/07/2023 23:07

Hi all, fascinated by what actually happens when you go in for reduced movement concerns. Do you wait 4.5hours in A&E as per normal in this area/ London hospitals? Or do you call 111 and get referred direct to antenatal care bypassing A&E? Or do you call hospital antenatal care phone number direct and if so are they willing to see you/ book you in for appointment?

Appreciate all trusts are different!

I had a few days where I felt reduce/ non movement over the past few weeks but have never done anything just held my breath and hope it will improve. Mostly because dread long waits in A&E just to be sent home without being seen anyway, but sounds like some are getting seen quickly! Any tips?

CaliGirl47 · 11/07/2023 23:26

I can totally relate to this! @Houseelf90 I have only been in once so far this pregnancy, but with DD1 I was in there loads. She’d be quiet as a mouse all day and then once I was hooked up to the CTG she’d turn into a ninja. 😂 It’s like these babies don’t like the constricting straps wrapped around for the monitor and start kicking away 🙄😂 making us look like “the boy who cried wolf”. Still it’s definitely always better to go in just in case. Hopefully things are back to normal for you now. I’ve started doing kicks count on an app just to try to keep track of baby’s general pattern but it’s a fine line between being helpful and anxiety inducing 😅

that's really interesting what @Skw11 said about dehydration being linked to reduced movements. On days where I haven’t felt as much movement I notice a link with being dehydrated. And once I make a conscious effort to drink more, usually that seems to make a difference in movements as well. So interesting.

No growth scans for me as of yet. Since i don’t have GDM this time around. I did find out from my 28 week bloodwork that I’m anaemic 😩 Hemoglobin was 122 which doesn’t seem bad, but my ferritin was only 8 so I’m guessing they’re going to put me on iron tablets. I only got this info from the badger app and have yet to hear from midwife/hospital about their plan. Can anyone recommend an easy to absorb iron?

Oh dear that sounds like such a headache @Bizzybee900 In my trust I just ring up the triage number or day assessment unit and let them know about reduced movements and they usually say to come in without appointment. Sometimes you can be left waiting in the waiting area before being seen. But it’s definitely not a&e wait times. When I went in last time I was hooked up to a monitor within about 20 minutes of going into maternity triage at my maternity hospital. I then spent an hour hooked up to the ctg machine before they checked my water sample, results of ctg, and discharged me

OP posts:
Bizzybee900 · 11/07/2023 23:33

Oh okay that's helpful @CaliGirl47 I have my 28 week midwife appointment tomorrow so will ask them about a triage phone number you mentioned and whether we also have one.

Houseelf90 · 12/07/2023 05:41

@CaliGirl47 I’m so glad it’s not just me 🙈🙈 they must get it all the time and they’re all so friendly, they never make you feel like you’re wasting their time, they just want what’s best for baby and that is to get checked out isn’t it!
Interesting that you’ve only found out from your app - I had my 28 week bloods done last Monday along with my GTT and neither results are on my app yet 😩 I’m guessing that means it’s all ok but would be nice to know!!

@Bizzybee900 definitely talk to your midwife about who to call - I’m with NW Anglia trust and we have a maternity helpline number, I’ve spoken to them twice now and they’ve asked me to go in both times. The first time I was taken straight through and last night I was waiting maybe 5–10 mins, certainly nothing like our A&E wait times! The triage we go to is actually on the delivery ward - in fact last night I had my own room which was a delivery room so it was nice to see what they are like! They had me hooked up to the monitor pretty quickly, after monitoring I did have a long wait as they wanted the doctor to see me (around 1.5 hours) but this was fine as I was in my own room with bed/chair etc and the midwife brought me a cup of tea! First time I was in and out in about 40 mins! Hopefully this puts your mind at ease to go if you feel worried about anything!

HopefulBee · 12/07/2023 07:34

Hi everyone, I’ve been a bit quiet on here. First lots to do at work and then I went on my baby moon. Super nice to be away but not as relaxing as the first baby moon as our toddler has sooo much energy 😅.

Sorry to hear so many of you having scares with reduced movement etc. It’s such a horrible feeling. I have had a few times where baby was quieter for half a day and I started worrying but then she perked back up. My partner and I used to bring out the stethoscope during my pregnancy with our daughter as she used to kick it, so if she was quiet we would get her to move that way 😁. If your babies don’t like the CTG, perhaps try sth like that at home? Also shining light on them might get them moving. Or music. But in the end if you’re still unsure I agree it’s always a good idea to get baby checked. My midwives also recommend it.

I won’t have a scan until 35 weeks, so 5 more weeks. But time feels like it’s flying. Anyone else feel that? Can’t believe baby will be here in the next 10-12 weeks 🤯.
