Hello all. Here is a fresh thread to fill up with lots of chitchat and milestones. So sorry if I’ve missed anyone out or got the EDD wrong. I tried to look back through but there were so many messages 😅 I’m sure I must’ve missed some people out. Many apologies, it wasn’t intentional. Sending hugs to all. 🥰🌈👶🏻🤰🏻

I'm still amazed by the differences in different areas - I'm in Scotland and the first thing I was given was "all my phone numbers" for contacting the local maternity wards. They genuinely seem keen for you to phone with any question at any time - and I can email my midwife if a question / issue isn't urgent and she's very responsive.

I've been in a couple of times when I was worried about reduced movement - first time I thought they'd have to fit me in when suited them but instead they were hurrying me to get there. They listened to baby's heartbeat rather than a scan/monitor. Second time was late on a Sat night and I was through to the hospital and back within 60-70 mins as they saw me straight away and again listened to heartbeat (annoyingly, there isn't a hospital in my town, I need to go about 15 miles in one of two directions to get to one).

We've had a few private scans* as it feels so long between the NHS ones. It's been a real relief to "check in" and we had one this week - but I'm feeling her moving much more now which is reassuring. I've got my growth scan on 4th August, was 29 weeks yesterday.

*Before, I thought I would never do this and figured they'd be wildly expensive but I can't believe how midwife etc just assumes everything's ok but you know so little about what's going on in your own body! I thought it would be more obvious what was happening, or I'd have an innate sense 🙈 🤣 Um, nope I'm clueless! We've found the service amazing and the cost reasonable, though other mums have also said they got more scans through their local NHS team by raising their concerns, particularly after previous miscarriage.

We've been trying to get some bits and pieces bought up this month (spreading the costs of big purchases and what we still need to get!) and Amazon Prime Day came up trumps! Perfect Prep Day and Night is cheap, and so are some of the higher price monitors and things.

Baby Box (Scottish Government thing) is due in the next few weeks, and we'll go to pick up the pram (which I'm told not to call that! 🤭 ^travel system I mean🤓) before the end of the school holidays as hubby is a teacher and wants that sorted before term starts again!

Look forward to hearing how everyone's getting on x

Houseelf90 · 12/07/2023 10:37

@HopefulBee pleased to hear you had a nice break, even if it wasn’t very relaxing 🙈
I was thinking I need something I can use at home that feels like the ctg monitoring to get them moving 🤣 I did try a few things and gave it plenty of time before I went in (too much time, got told off by the midwife!! In a nice way but yes must go sooner next time!)
It is absolutely flying by!! I was 29 weeks on Monday, so now just under 11 weeks till due date so I guess baby will be here within 13 weeks! The weeks are going so quickly, especially with a lot of appointments coming up! 35 weeks seems a nice time to have a scan - not too long after that till your baby will be here!
I spoke to the hospital this morning to book in the scan that the Dr requested last night, they can’t fit me in till Friday so want me to go in for further ctg monitoring tonight (I thought Friday seemed pretty quick 🤷‍♀️)

HopefulBee · 12/07/2023 12:10

@Houseelf90 Glad they’re taking it seriously. Most likely all is fine but you just want to be on the safe side right? Nice that you get to see baby on Friday. 😍 Good luck with all the check ups, it’s a busy time now even without the extra checks. I have appointments every two weeks now until 36 weeks and then weekly. This is the time you slowly start becoming part of the VIP patients at the midwives/hospital as you get further and further along. So exciting, and slightly nerve wrecking 😜.

Daisy155 · 14/07/2023 16:23

@ooohoobigsummerblowout I also have all my numbers in Warwickshire and they are really keen on me coming in even in the middle of the night when I have rang they tell me to come in straight away and I am
seen there and then as well here!

Houseelf90 · 14/07/2023 21:49

@HopefulBee CTG monitoring was fine on Wednesday although I didn’t feel any movement while I was on there 😳 scan was fine today, movement and good heartbeat! Baby measuring 3lbs5oz and pretty much bang on 50th centile! Had further CTG monitoring, good heartbeat but the midwife seemed a bit concerned about something and kept the monitor on for longer and watched it, then said she was calling a doctor 🤷‍♀️ doctor didn’t come and see me but was satisfied with what the midwife had said! So they’ve discharged me but I’m to go back if I am still worried at all.
I'm assuming that baby has moved (is now head down) and this is why I’m not feeling kicks as strongly, and maybe this is just the new normal!!

CaliGirl47 · 17/07/2023 18:59

So glad that everything was good at your scan @Houseelf90 It’s good to know that your health care team is supportive and looking after you and baby. 🤗

Recently I have been getting a few episodes of “lightning crotch” 😂⚡️ does anyone know what causes this? I assume it’s some sort of movement from baby that puts pressure down there. It always comes as a bit of a shock. My next community midwife appointment is next week. It will be nice to hear baby’s heartbeat again and see how we are measuring. I’m curious if she is still head down, because I tend to get kicks very low down but I suppose it could be elbows. Anyone else feel like they’ve dropped? I’m only 30 weeks but I looked in the mirror today and my bump looked so low. Probably just my imagination. I’m only 5’3 so I’m all belly at the minute. It feels like I’ve got no more room left to grow 😅 I’ve already had plenty of the oh so helpful comments from strangers and friends: “you’re so big! Are you sure it’s not triplets in there?! You’re never going to make it to September” 🤦🏻‍♀️🙄😑

Hope you’re all keeping well. 💛💜💛

Houseelf90 · 17/07/2023 19:13

Thank you @CaliGirl47 - seems it’s one thing after another for me at the moment as today I tested positive for covid 😭 happy 30 weeks to me!!
I am getting low down “kicks”/movement - I think it’s baby’s elbows as they have been head down at my recent appointments/scans. I get a few kicks around belly button height/just higher but the majority is definitely down low!!
I’ve had some horrible pains down there but think I am suffering with PGP so have put it down to that!
I hope you’re doing well other than the lightning crotch 😊

CaliGirl47 · 17/07/2023 19:26

Oh no! Sorry to hear about your covid 😢 @Houseelf90 I really hope it’s mild and you get over it quickly. And hopefully you keep your sense of taste as well. You never know, having it at this point might give baby some immunity for when they are born. That could be a good thing.

Get lots of rest, now is your chance to binge some great shows/films. If you have AppleTV Hijack is good. Hope you feel better soon.

Skw11 · 17/07/2023 19:37

Ohh get well soon @Houseelf90 rest up and drink lots ❤️ covid dehydrated me so much when I had it and that was pre-preg!

@CaliGirl47 I can relate to random people commenting, I've still not got used to it! Even people I know at work saying things like "ooh it's growing" or "you still look so small" ie quite nice things is really weird, like they would NEVER in normal circumstances comment on my thin/fatness!! Or when it was hot a few weeks back a stranger said "I don't envy you" - er cheers 😑🤣 people are so strange.

OK here this week and got a midwife appt on Thurs, and a call from a health visitor and start NCT antenatal so it's all ramping up 😅 x

Houseelf90 · 17/07/2023 20:19

Thank you @CaliGirl47 and @Skw11 hopefully it won’t get too bad, am feeling pretty rough at the moment with flu like symptoms! Taking the opportunity to rest! Although I am annoyed as my mum was going to come over and help me clear the nursery this week ready for my other half to put the furniture up at the weekend!

HopefulBee · 17/07/2023 20:40

@Houseelf90 Oh no, what bad luck. Hope you are back on your feet soon and can get back to the nursery.

@CaliGirl47 I get lots of movement down low but baby is def head down so it’s elbows and hands. The occasional foot poking out at my sides too - but far more movement under the belly button. Also lots of hiccups - normally down low but sometimes they’re so strong I can feel them higher up too. Like baby’s bum is vibrating haha. I also feel huge and worry how I will make it to 40 weeks and beyond. Am as big now as I was at 36 weeks with my first.

@Skw11 such a weird feeling when people suddenly feel comfortable talking about your body right? Happens to me a lot too, and it makes me a bit self conscious. One colleague (who I hang out with sometimes) even touched my belly recently. Was very surprised - thought people know not to just do that.

Got my next appointment for heartbeat and measurements next week as well. It’s really getting to the end now so lots of appointments coming up. Anyone else feel both excited but also sad it will be over soon? I really enjoy pregnancy, even though it is hard on our bodies and def not always easy sailing.

Houseelf90 · 17/07/2023 22:27

@HopefulBee thank you!

It really is getting close now isn’t it!! I’m not due until 25th Sept and have 10 weeks to go so I guess those at the start of the month are nearer 6 weeks to go, that really is scary!! And no doubt there will be some births next month!!
I think the extra appointments help with time going quickly, it sometimes dragged between appointments in the early days! And although it feels like it’s gone really quickly, it also seems a long time ago since testing and waiting for the 12 week scan!!

Bizzybee900 · 20/07/2023 07:43

Agree @Houseelf90 I also can't believe how close some of us are to due date! Very exciting!

Wanted to ask is anyone else Ravenously hungry all the Time? 😂Literally go to bed feeling hungry get up feeling hungry, have never felt like this before. Trying very hard not to eat (to much) extra or anything unhealthy but so fed up of being hungry all the time!

Please tell me its not just me!

Houseelf90 · 20/07/2023 12:36

@Bizzybee900 before I caught covid I was waking up absolutely starving every morning!! And then I would just snack all day until I ate in the evening. I have lost my appetite a bit this week though so am having to make myself eat for babys sake. I don’t know if I’m not hungry from the covid or whether I just don’t fancy anything that we have in the house as my other half bought me some chocolate this morning and that went down perfectly well 🤣🤣

R184 · 20/07/2023 16:06

Just thought id jump on here, i'm currently 32 (almost 33 weeks) with our 3rd baby and i am absolutely EXHAUSTED! Ive never been so happy for school holidays so i don't have to do the school run!

log51 · 20/07/2023 17:16

@Bizzybee900 definitely not just you, I am ravenous! Noticed a diff going into the third trimester and wondered if it was psychological because you're "allowed" your 200 extra calories a day, but no no it's definitely physical!

Daisy155 · 22/07/2023 10:28

@Bizzybee900 O have gestational diabetes and I have been fine all along until third trimester I wake and go to sleep hungry and I don’t have the choice to snack or eat too much because I need my numbers to be good!

I can’t stop talking about what I am going to eat when baby comes!! I want to eat everything but I have a feeling when the time comes it will be hard I have been eating healthy since February! I will feel guilty lol 😂

@R184 same so happy school run is over next week I wasn’t even taking him anymore but had to get him ready so my husband drops and picks him up! Now I won’t need to wake up at 7 to get him ready I can sleep in!

@Houseelf90 so sorry 😞 I hope you feel better very soon 💕💕

can’t believe we are getting closer and closer to our due dates! Baby is moving so much these days makes me so happy xx

CaliGirl47 · 23/07/2023 17:03

How are you feeling? @Houseelf90 I hope you’re on the mend. 💗

I definitely agree with you all on the fatigue and hunger. Man oh man. It’s like I’m back in the 1st trimester fatigue. If I don’t get a nap in the afternoon I’m absolutely dead to the world by 8 pm 😂 I’m always so tired. Not sure if that has something to do with my anaemia. 28 week bloods showed HB at 12.2 but my ferritin was an 8 so they’ve put me on iron supplements. 🙁 I’m hoping it’s improved for my next bloods so I can ease off the iron. I’m absolutely ravenous as well. I can’t eat as large quantities as I used to. But I feel like I'm always hungry. And my feet are starting to swell up as well. Quite the beauty queen lately 🤣🤣 I think it’s time for some comfy wide fit shoes to get me through. Sorry for the moan 😆🙈 I hope you are all well.

Houseelf90 · 23/07/2023 17:25

@CaliGirl47 thank you, I’m feeling much better 🥰
We finally put the cot up yesterday so I’m feeling a bit more ready! Babys hospital bag is pretty much packed as I’ve had a few dreams about going into labour and having nothing ready 🤣🙈 I’ve put a few of my bits together but will pack properly in a few weeks when we get back from our little break!
I’m feeling SO tired!! My manager has said I can work from home more often if I like (currently do 2 days a week in the office) but to be honest the office helps keep me awake else I just want to relax and nap on the sofa if I’m at home 🙈
How long has everyone got left to work? I’m not due until 25th September but because I hadn’t used much holiday I have 2 weeks holiday mid august, then back for a week and a half and then I’m off the whole of September using a mix of holiday and then mat leave (from a week before my due date)

log51 · 24/07/2023 10:18

Glad you're feeling better @Houseelf90 I'm due 23 Sept and I'm stopping work on 6 Sept, but sadly working the whole of August! Mainly work from home and hoping summer will be a bit quieter so I can do all of the washing of baby clothes/faffing with the nursery in Aug so the time in Sept is for me! Prob easier said than done when it comes to going into nesting mode too.
Having my bloods redone for my iron tomorrow so have been eating so much steak and spinach to try and get them up!

Houseelf90 · 24/07/2023 12:16

Thank you @log51. I also tend to use WFH days to get caught up on washing etc so hoping I won’t have too much to do in September! Although my mums been over to help with some bits so took some of the baby clothes home with her to wash so I don’t have as many to do now! Good luck for your blood tests!!

Astar21 · 01/08/2023 13:55

Hi girls, how is everyone doing?
It's certainly starting to feel like the final countdown now! It's been an exciting (but expensive 😂) couple of weeks getting all the baby items in place ready!
I can't believe our little rainbows will be with us in a matter of weeks 🌈🥰 xx

log51 · 01/08/2023 14:53

Hi @Astar21 It's so exciting isn't it, we spent the whole weekend getting nursery built and everything ready! However have found the last couple of weeks a bit harder (i'm 32 weeks now) - def suffering with a bit of pelvic pain and lower back pain! Made me less confident that I can handle labour without the serious drugs!!

Houseelf90 · 01/08/2023 21:43

Hi @Astar21 it’s crazy how close it’s getting now!! We are due our babies next month!! How are you doing?
@log51 I’ve had terrible pains - constant pubic bone pain, along with intermittent back, hip and pelvis pain!! The midwife offered to refer me to a physio but I declined as the referrals take a few weeks and they just call you with some exercises - I decided I can just Google some to do in the meantime, unless it gets much worse then I’ll ask for the referral!
I have my scan tomorrow to check my placenta has moved, very much looking forward to seeing baby again!!

ooohoobigsummerblowout · 01/08/2023 21:46

Eeek, I'm due 26th Sep and was going to work as close as I could, so was thinking about coming off w/b 11th Sep at the earliest. Looks like I might be kidding myself based on other's dates - any thoughts or advice as this is first baby so I have not much of a clue about anything! 🙈
