Hello all. Here is a fresh thread to fill up with lots of chitchat and milestones. So sorry if I’ve missed anyone out or got the EDD wrong. I tried to look back through but there were so many messages 😅 I’m sure I must’ve missed some people out. Many apologies, it wasn’t intentional. Sending hugs to all. 🥰🌈👶🏻🤰🏻

@kl1999 pleased your appointment went well 🥰
I still find it baffling how each area is different with some midwives measuring at 25 weeks and some not until 28 weeks! The midwife I saw didn’t mention bloods but looking at the guidance for my next appointment when I log in it does sound like I’ll have bloods done too! Mind you the guidance for 25 weeks said I would have measurements done but I didn’t so who knows how accurate that is!

kl1999 · 15/06/2023 13:26

@Houseelf90 Thank you my lovely 🥰 It really is bizarre isn't it! It's even more bizarre for me, as in my area I fall under two different trusts. My Midwife at the GP are under one trust, and my hospital (where I have my scans, bloods and eventually with give birth) is under another trust. They themselves have contradicting practises, it's hard to keep up! 😂 Important thing is, we're all happy and healthy. It would be nice for some consistency though for sure!

Houseelf90 · 15/06/2023 13:36

@kl1999 oh that’s crazy!! That must be difficult to keep up with the differences and also hard for the midwives to try and give advice depending on the hospitals practice!
It’s scary to think we are now at the stage of appointments every 3 weeks (FTM’s anyway!) I think that’ll make it go really quickly as the next appointment is around the corner!

Is anyone else having the GTT for GD? I’ve got my appointment for that on 3rd July and my next midwife appointment is at the end of that week on 7th July!

Skw11 · 15/06/2023 15:54

@kl1999 pleased it went well and totally agree, it's best they check out your pee but hopefully just being cautious! I have to get bloods done before my 28 week appt too, couldn't face going today so it's on my to do list for next week. I'm definitely happy for all the checks etc, makes me feel secure! I had no idea they didn't do as much for second pregnancies.

Houseelf90 · 15/06/2023 17:07

Has anyone else been referred to the anaesthetists? I’ve had an appointment come through, was when I am away so called to change it and they’ve moved it to next week!

kl1999 · 16/06/2023 10:27

@Houseelf90 It really does get confusing and if things aren't done correctly, one will blame the other etc - not the best but both sides have looked after me pretty well so far, so I can't complain to much! I know, as a FTM too, I completely agree. My next midwife is 6th July, so right before yours!! Not been referred to an anaesthetists myself, do you know why you have? Hope all is well! ❤

I've not had to do the GTT but I'm curious as to why. Is it down to bloods or previous history that warrants you being put forward for the GTT? Seems so many women have to do the test and so many don't.

@Skw11 Thank you! 🥰 Oh me too! It's nice to have all of these appointments and extra safety nets as such. Will make the time fly too. I didn't realise that second and so on pregnancies didn't really get anything after 20 weeks - which is honestly bizarre to me!!

Houseelf90 · 16/06/2023 11:47

@kl1999 at least they’re both looking after you well - hopefully that will continue throughout!
My midwife referred me to the anaesthetist because of a heart condition, but I’m not too sure what to expect at the appointment - I think they will discuss whether I can have a natural birth or if csec will be best.
And I’m having the GTT due to my BMI pre pregnancy - god I sound a bundle of health don’t I, overweight with a heart condition 🙈 but I am actually generally pretty well and active lol!!

kl1999 · 20/06/2023 09:05

@Houseelf90 Oh don't be silly lol! BMI to me is seriously outdated, it needs a overhaul! & Ahhh, that would make sense, hope your appt goes well with them this week 💕

Results are back and it is a UTI. On a course of antibiotics (but only 3 days worth), thankful I've felt no discomfort, burning etc. I know it could be so much worse.

Hope everyone is feeling/doing well - not much longer to go now ladies 🌈❤

Astar21 · 20/06/2023 11:51

Hi girls, I'm so behind with this thread! Life seems to have been super busy lately and the weeks are flying by. Nearly the 3rd trimester...how did that happen?!
I hope everyone is doing okay 🌈😊
Im really struggling to sleep at night at the moment. Having to always sleep on the side isn't always comfortable!
28w midwife appointment next week, they said they'll measure bump at this one and more bloods I think.

kl1999 · 20/06/2023 12:29

@Astar21 It really is flying by isn't it?! Hope you are keeping well my lovely ❤ I'm the exact same! I toss and turn every half an hour (at least it feels like that😂) from left side to right side. Have you tried a pregnancy pillow by any chance? I haven't bothered to get one, but I have started sticking a pillow inbetween my legs sort of, and it has made me much more comfortable. Hope your appt goes well next week. I need to book my bloods in this week, when I remember... feel like I blink and the days over 🤯

Skw11 · 20/06/2023 16:11

@Astar21 @kl1999 exact same for me, 28wk appt next week and thank you for reminding me I need to go get bloods done this week! Can't believe trimester 2 is practically over 💜 I've been thinking about getting a pillow too, and it's definitely a bit harder to get "up and out" of bed with bump now I think! X

Houseelf90 · 20/06/2023 17:37

Is anyone’s midwife doing their bloods at their 28 week appointment? I haven’t been told to get mine done so a bit worried I’m not going to arrange anything and should be?! Is it possible my midwife will be able to do them and will just do them at the appointment or does this not happen? 😬😬

Astar21 · 20/06/2023 22:31

@Houseelf90 as far as I'm aware my midwife said she'd be doing my bloods at the 28w appointment.

@kl1999 yes I feel the same tossing and turning to either side 😩 I bought a BabyBub pillow, which is okay but I still manage to somehow roll onto my back 😂 I'll try the pillow between my legs!

Houseelf90 · 20/06/2023 23:04

@Astar21 thank you, that’s reassuring! I’ve checked back over the notes and they definitely didn’t mention anything about me organising them!

Houseelf90 · 22/06/2023 14:15

Had my anaesthetist appt today, they are happy for me to have a natural birth, but have recommended an early epidural!
I'm really relieved they have recommended something as it gives me a starting point for my birth plan, I’m so rubbish at making decisions I just needed someone to recommend something to get me started 🤣

Hope everyone is doing ok and coping well the with heat!

kl1999 · 22/06/2023 14:29

@Skw11 I know, where has the time gone 🤯❤🌈 I'm the same, trying to tie my shoelaces has become a task I loathe to do lol.

@Houseelf90 I wouldn't worry my lovely! I think my particular trust doesn't do bloods at the GP, which is why I'll have to go and get them done at my hospitals maternity part instead. If your midwife hasn't mentioned you having to book in elsewhere for your 28wk bloods, I would guess she will be sorting them for you! Or for ref, if you had bloods taken earlier in the pregnancy, who did that for you? Glad your appt went well today and has given you a starting point for your birthing plans! ❤

@Astar21 Lol, it's hard work trying to sleep comfortably for sure. Hope something helps you sleep soundly soon! 🤞🥰

Houseelf90 · 22/06/2023 14:56

@kl1999 thank you!! The first bloods I had done (around 10weeks I think) I had to go to a different women’s and children’s unit in our trust area. The second lot I had done at the hospital at my 12 week scan, but I’ve not had anymore done since then I don’t think! Hopefully my midwife will do them at my appointment 😊

Daisy155 · 23/06/2023 14:58

I hope everyone is well can’t believe finally in the 3rd trimester time is flying by so fast!

Goneaboutthiswrong · 25/06/2023 07:24

Hey everyone, I’m currently 29 weeks and had my bloods done the same time I had my diabetes testing done. All was well. Just to confirm I also had an anaesthetist appointment due to having had an epidural last year for a prolapsed disc, I was told j could have an epidural during birth it just may not numb completely 🙄 great lol
It’s great to catch up here with everyone in their third trimester! Anyone developed new symptoms? Mine is carpal tunnel in both hands - I’m having to wear splints at night.

Im also being shared between hospital and midwife care, seeing a consultant and a midwife. I’ve been told I’m not high risk so
im confused as to why I still have to go to the hospital for appointments (I had my bump
measured and baby’s heartbeat there)

I hope everyone is coping well with the heat?
I also look forward to talks about birthing plans from everyone, it would be great to get some tips!

Bizzybee900 · 25/06/2023 23:11

@Goneaboutthiswrong Most of my midwife appointments have been in hospital too and I'm not high risk either. Is it possible it depends on where you registered for the birth?
Way behind you re appointments as only 26 weeks currently (haven't done diabetes test or bloods yet) but my back is really starting hurt, just trying to sit or better yet lie down as much as poss, don't think there's much else to do! Anyone tried one of those maternity belts do they help?

ashz · 26/06/2023 01:38

Hey everyone, I’m so happy I found this forum. I’m currently 28 weeks pregnant after two miscarriages. Just wanted to share my symptoms and wanna know if everyone else feel same. I feel tired and exhausted all day with lots of back ache. Also, they say you should feel at least 10 movements every 2 hours but that’s not the case for me at least I feel a tap or a light movement once or twice a day. Plus Movements are stronger when I am relaxed or lying down.

log51 · 26/06/2023 17:20

Hi all - hope everyone's well!
Had my 28 week bloods early on Friday (due to hols) and they've come back as low iron and need to have the iron tablets? Has anyone else had this?
Literally all of my friends have to go onto these, so not too worried but shouldn't they make the pregnancy supplements higher in iron?! Levels weren't too low, 109 and I've generally had plenty of energy in 2nd trimester.

Welcome @ashz ! I would say I'm feeling loads of movement, but still not as much as 10 every 2 hours! Maybe you have an anterior placenta and that's why you're feeling a bit less?

ashz · 26/06/2023 17:40

Hi @log51 thanks for your response I am unaware of that if it was anterior doctor would have mentioned but I think I will just confirm with my midwife during my appointment this week because this is bit concerning now.

Also, I had same issue my iron levels were 107 which according to doctor were not significantly bad but I still had to do IV infusions because in third trimester 110 or above is preferable.
I am currently taking iron supplements(ferra max) with vitamin C to help absorb it faster. I did some research before buying iron supplements but unfortunately none of the prenatals have enough iron or ferritin to support low levels.
Your levels are not too bad so I would say a month of iron supplements should be enough. Plus I don’t think there is any harm or severe side effect of these pills because I have been taking them for more than 6 months now.

Houseelf90 · 26/06/2023 19:35

@ashz welcome to the group! I’m definitely not feeling 10 every 2 hours!! I get loads in the evening, probably more than 10 and hour for a couple of hours, and I feel some in the morning but generally throughout the day I don’t feel a lot - I would say it’s gone from none during the day to a couple of kicks during the day time in the last couple of weeks, hopefully that will continue to increase. I generally feel them most when I’m laying down/relaxing.

I hope everyone is doing ok! Saturday was difficult as it was my due date for my first pregnancy but after a few tears in the morning I managed to keep fairly distracted!

Skw11 · 26/06/2023 21:03

Hi everyone, tricky time over here but all is OK, went for a wee last night and the paper came away with pink on it so called the number on my notes and quickly headed in on what was probs one of the most horrible 30 min car journeys ever, just silent panic from both of us! No idea what to expect. But hospital fully checked me, lovely midwife and doctor. Midwife checked baby with doppler and felt bump, then pee sample too, Dr did a bump check and very quickly ruled out preterm labour, then did internal exam and swab. All ok and no pink since. There are a few simple things it could have been and it could be an infection that needs antibiotics (swab result pending) but they both said always do come in if it happens as pink could be a sign of waters going. Was only in about an hour, thankfully the ward was quiet. Took today off sick to recover from the shock.

Wanted to share this in case anyone else gets similar, my experience of calling, being told to come in and properly checked was very positive. Hope I never have this again! Week 28 today and plenty of movement 💜X
