Hello all. Here is a fresh thread to fill up with lots of chitchat and milestones. So sorry if I’ve missed anyone out or got the EDD wrong. I tried to look back through but there were so many messages 😅 I’m sure I must’ve missed some people out. Many apologies, it wasn’t intentional. Sending hugs to all. 🥰🌈👶🏻🤰🏻

@CaliGirl47 thank you for the link, I’m going to order them now! My sister in law is due in February so I will pass any leftovers on to her!
A friend of mine sent me a really good video, link below 😊 seems useful so hopefully it’ll help when I start!!
I think you’re due a couple of days before me (I’m due 25th), I am going to start at 37 weeks as I have heard it can help bring on labour!

Colostrum Collection in Pregnancy: When to start and how to do it

Thanks for the support guys ♥ scanner was happy so we are relieved but it was horribly nerve wracking, did not enjoy it much! Baby's head is "so low I can't measure it" which likely explains no bump growth, the head has moved out of the bump... All other measures seemed fine and it's nice they're thorough x

Houseelf90 · 26/08/2023 10:51

After my trip to triage on Wednesday, a midwife from the hospital has just called me to say my urine sample they sent off is showing a very high infection! They’ve got some more antibiotics for me to pick up today! Kind of relieved that it’s finally showing something specific, but also not holding my breath after already having 2 lots of antibiotics and having the infection over 8 weeks now!! I shall collect them today and keep everything crossed they work! 😩

R184 · 29/08/2023 15:09

I had my 38 week midwife appt this morning (I’m 38+3) and she’s told me baby is back to back 😬what are the best things to do to turn baby? How will I know/how can I tell when/if they’ve turned? I won’t have another appt until 40+5 (in which case I’m hoping baby will be here by then!!) dd1 was born at 40 weeks and dd2 at 39+3. Thank you!!

Astar21 · 29/08/2023 15:21

@Houseelf90 how are you feeling now? I hope the antibiotics have finally kicked in 🙏🏼

@CaliGirl47 the medjool dates are so nice, I got them from Holland & Barrett, they're quite big so I've been having 2 a day, but might up it to 3 a day now 😂
Have you tried again with the colostrum harvesting? I didn't end up giving it a go over the weekend as was too busy, so may try tonight. The midwife said nothing might happen at first but keep trying.

@Skw11 that's good news your scan went well. Will they do another one or no need? I've got my third growth scan next Monday. The second one had dropped slightly on the percentile, so eager to see where we're at with it now. People say my bump is growing but I certainly don't feel massive.

Houseelf90 · 29/08/2023 15:33

@Astar21 thank you for thinking of me - I’m still feeling a bit rough and pains on and off. I’ve been for my 36 week appt today and the midwife said my white blood count is 600 - it was at 284 a few weeks ago and that was considered high. The only thing I can find online is that 70 indicates an infection, but I’m not sure if the source is reliable! My urine sample from today is still showing leukocytes so being sent off again and my midwife is going to refer to the consultant for the next steps. I would imagine they’ll do IV antibiotics next and my other half has said he wouldn’t be surprised if they have me in early for c-section or to be induced, but I don’t know how likely that is!

Astar21 · 30/08/2023 11:02

@Houseelf90 oh what a stress it's been for you. At least they're referring you for consultant care so they can keep an eye on it properly and decide the best route to go down. I think they'll only do that if absolutely necessary.
So my first colostrum harvesting was surprisingly a success last night! I was getting stressed out at first as nothing was happening then all of a sudden little drops started appearing and I managed to fill a little bit of the syringe!

log51 · 30/08/2023 12:01

Hi all hope everyone is ok! @Houseelf90 firstly thanks so much for sharing that colostrum harvesting video, I definitely would have been going about that wrong otherwise! and hope you are OK with the infection.
I've actually just tested positive for COVID at just over 36 weeks :( Called the midwife and they didn't actually seem remotely concerned and said I could have come in for my appointment today if didn't have symptoms - but I do, just like a heavy cold since Monday morn and hopefully not going to get any worse!
Pelvic pain has also been quite a b*gger over the past few weeks. Have been v lucky to see a women's health physio weekly for it, it sort of keeps getting a bit better but then gets worse but can definitely still walk etc. just quite slowly!
Just so looking forward to finishing work next week now as feel like there's so much to think about with perennial massage/colostrum harvesting/physio exercises/bouncing on ball/dates/raspberry leaf tea etc!!
Hope everyone else is well. @kl1999 don't think we've heard from my due date buddy for a while, how are you doing? x

Houseelf90 · 30/08/2023 12:39

Thank you @Astar21

No problem @log51 I’d have definitely done it wrong if I hadn’t seen the video too! I’m planning to start collecting on Monday!
I hope you don’t end up too poorly with Covid ☹️ I had it at 30 weeks and the same as you it was like a really bad cold. I also let them know when I had it and the same as you, they weren’t concerned!
My pelvic pain seems to be a little better although I still have a horrid pain right in my pubic bone!
When is your due date? I’m 36+2 now so I think we are pretty close!

log51 · 30/08/2023 14:02

Very similar @Houseelf90 I'm 36+4 so 23 September! I've always been convinced that I'm going to be quite overdue and go into October though.
Yes my pelvic pain has been right in the pelvic bone as well rather than round the hip or lower back... it's such a weird one to describe to people!

CaliGirl47 · 31/08/2023 12:45

Thanks for the video that looks really helpful. @Houseelf90 I do hope the antibiotics have brought you some relief. It sounds like your body has been fighting off a pretty bad infection. I do hope they can get it under control for you. Not very nice to be suffering in these last few weeks of pregnancy. Would you be happy to be induced or given a c section date if they offered it to you? It’s certainly a realistic possibility.

I’m so glad all was well with your scan @Skw11 and great news that baby is so low down and engaged. He’s getting ready for the big day. 😁

@R184 I had back to back labour with DD1 and boy did I feel it. So I’ve been really trying to research ways to avoid it this time. Mostly trying to stay in upright/forward/open positions. Apparently the back of baby’s head/back is the heaviest part so try to use gravity to encourage baby into an OA position by sitting on a birth ball and being mindful of not leaning back when sitting down but have a more upright position propped with cushions etc. I saw one video that described it like this: imagine your belly button like a torch and always try to keep that torch pointed down. Hopefully that will help. I had my 36 week appointment yesterday and baby was ROA I asked if she would stay that way because I didn’t want another back to back labour and the midwife says no guarantee baby will stay that way. They can change any time. Even during labour they can shift from OA to OP en vice versa. So these babies will do what they want to do. But it’s worth trying all the things. 😅

ooh those dates sound nice. I might have to get some. @Astar21 I’ve not tried the colostrum harvesting again as it freaked me out having those tightenings last time. 😬 My mom is coming to stay with me when I’m 38 weeks and I don’t want her to miss the birth. So I’m going to hold off until then I think. Just in case it kick starts something. 😅 But that’s fab that you had such a successful first try 👍🏼 I hope your next scan goes well.

sorry to hear about the Covid and pelvic pain 😩 @log51 I think there’s so much Covid around at the minute, but it’s reassuring that the midwives don’t seem alarmed or concerned. And it might mean some good antibodies for your newborn to boost them through the autumn/winter viral season. I hope your symptoms are mild and you’re able to get lots of rest. 🤗

This week has been a bit eventful for me. I had my 36 week community midwife appointment yesterday at 36+5 and they found glucose ++ in my sample so they said they were going to refer me for another GTT..But I’ve already had two tests in this pregnancy and both were negative. I just burst into tears because I could see my whole birth centre/water birth plan going out the window. And I realised I’d only eaten some toast with honey on for breakfast and skipped lunch so it’s my own silly fault. I was so upset. I feel like if they offer me a third test I might be inclined to decline it. I really don’t want to be considered “high risk” for the sake of one urine sample and have all my birth plans thrown off. I had GD before and I don’t feel like I have it again. Then yesterday evening I was out walking the dog and I somehow stepped off a curb and tripped over my dog and took a pretty big fall on some gravel.😩 My hands and knees took the brunt of it thankfully. But of course I was panicking about baby and having a placental abruption so I went straight up to triage. All those scary helpless feelings of loss come flooding straight back 😪 and I’ve been a nervous wreck ever since. They did ctg on baby which looked okay and then I waited four hours to see a dr. But once it reached midnight I couldn’t stay any longer. I asked them how much longer it would be and they said another couple of hours because they were short staffed. Midwife was happy with baby’s heart rate it’s just formality to speak to a dr. I was just so exhausted and upset and I decided to self discharge. Made it home by 1 am and hardly got any sleep. So now I’m just taking it easy today and trying to really monitor baby’s movements to reassure myself that she’s okay and the placenta is okay. But it’s been a bit of a rollercoaster. I’ll be glad when she’s in my arms and safe. 💞

Houseelf90 · 31/08/2023 13:18

@CaliGirl47 thank you, I don’t think they’re really helping and yesterday I thought the infection had spread to my kidneys due to pain, sickness and pretty much every other symptom, assumed I’d be spending today in triage but actually the pain has gone today so I don’t know what to do!
I’d actually quite like it if they offered me induction/c-section as at least I will know baby is safe if they’re out!! I did kind of half mention/question it with my midwife on Tuesday, in a half hearted way but she said not if it’s not making me ill. But she didn’t ask me how I was actually feeling and I was on my own so didn’t speak up. My problem is every time they ask me about dizziness etc I say I have been feeling hot/dizzy but that it’s normal for me, I guess I need to be less dismissive of symptoms!
Oh bless you, what a worry!! Sounds like baby was well on the ctg so fingers crossed movements are as normal today 🤞🏼

Skw11 · 31/08/2023 13:29

Sorry to hear about your rough week @CaliGirl47 it's so much to deal with on top of hormones! And @Houseelf90 sounds like they're keeping a good eye on you but so frustrating to still have symptoms. I'd never had thrush before this preg and am now on my fifth round, I'm excited for that to be over soon!

No follow ups from my growth scan so my next appt is the regular 38 week one next week when I'll be 38+3, I guess if it's still small at that they'll send me for another.

I also started colostrum harvesting! Did it once on Monday with good success, thought I'd leave it a few days to build back up but I tried this morning and nothing much there, wonder if I should have done the opposite and kept going daily! Def freaked myself out about it causing early labour too 🤣 😬 x

kl1999 · 31/08/2023 13:37

Hi Ladies,

Sorry for my lack of input, currently on the run up to me finally finishing work and going on maternity, whilst also trying to get the house in order for the little ones arrival. Time has flown by and I feel like I'm in a tizz 24/7 😅

@log51 Due date twin! Thank you for thinking of me ❤ I am feeling good, although did come down with a cold about two weeks ago and it still hasn't fully shifted. I took two covid tests which were both negative, but with how much it washed me out, I'm convinced I had it! Sorry to hear you have covid, being ill in general is never nice, but deffo think being ill whilst pregnant is another thing altogether! Sending lots of hugs xx

@Skw11 I'm so glad to hear your scan went well my lovely xx

@Houseelf90 I'm so sorry to hear about your infection! Can't believe it hasn't shifted after all this time. How annoying and uncomfortable for you 😥 Hopefully it clears up soon for you ❤

@CaliGirl47 Sorry to hear about your recent appt. Could they really insist on doing another GTT test when you are so close to the finish line?? 😓 Sorry to hear about your fall too, I can't imagine how scary that must have been! Good news that baby's heartbeat was fine and midwife was happy. It's hard to shake the worry and panic though. Have plenty of rest today!!

Currently 36+5, I'm feeling tons of pressure in my lower stomach/pelvis area, constantly feel like I need a wee, even when I don't 🙈 Tossing and turning in the night, rib pain - the list is endless 😅

As a FTM, I don't feel I've read up enough on certain things (such as colostrum harvesting) - is this a must ladies?

Skw11 · 31/08/2023 13:40

@kl1999 thank you! I'm a ftm too but it came up in some classes I've done, colostrum harvesting def not a must and if you get nothing out that does not mean you won't be able to bf. It sounds like it's a relatively new thing and good to think of as an "insurance policy" - if you can't feed your bub straight off/are separated from them/milk doesn't come in right away then they can have that instead. But for me I think it's actually just helped me practice hand expressing and looking at my boobs properly 😂👌 so I found it useful the one time I did it! Hope that helps x

Houseelf90 · 31/08/2023 14:13

@Skw11 I’ve also had thrush a few times so I feel ya there!!! We shouldn’t wish to get our bodies back to normal as it’s amazing what they’re doing….but, I can’t wait to get back to normal 😂

@kl1999 you’re a couple of days ahead of me, and I’m pretty similar, uncomfortable and not sleeping well with tossing and turning! When do you finish work?

Houseelf90 · 10/09/2023 19:17

How is everyone doing?
Do we have any babies on the group yet?

I’ve still got my infection, now on another course of antibiotics to be followed by 3 weeks of a low dose.
Had a failed sweep on Thursday as cervix still closed. Doctor has authorised for my midwife to do another at my 38week appointment Tuesday and I have a back up appointment on Wednesday at the hospital in case the midwife doesn’t/can’t do it.
I’ve started to have some blood in my discharge so half hoping something might happen before Tuesday but not holding my breath 😬

kl1999 · 10/09/2023 22:25

@Houseelf90 I finished work on 1st Sept one day before I turned 37 weeks! I’ve had a pretty good pregnancy all things considered but these past 2/3 weeks I’ve really felt washed out. I’ve also got carpal tunnel in my right hand which is so annoying. The heat has also made my hands and feet swell. Definitely feeling sorry for myself now!

So sorry to hear you still have your infection 😢 can’t believe nothing has helped shift it yet for you - how are you feeling within yourself? My next app isn’t until 21st Sept (when I’ll be 39+5) at which point I’ll be offered a sweep according to the midwife.

@Skw11 thanks for that! Super helpful info my lovely xxx

Hope everyone is doing well - special mention to my fellow ladies in the UK - WHAT IS THIS HEAT 😭😭 I have never been so uncomfortable in all my life. I’m shattered.

Not long to go now!! 💗🌈💙

Houseelf90 · 10/09/2023 22:50

@kl1999 ahh very similar to me - I finished on the Wednesday as I’d already got the end of the week booked off which had been planned pre pregnancy!

Thank you! It’s so frustrating that nothing is shifting it 😩 my white blood cell count is now at 1098…70 is classed as an infection 😭 I had mainly been feeling ok and just putting tiredness and pains down to pregnancy but the last week or so I’ve felt really rough so I think it’s starting to take its toll on my body.

And this heat. Horrendous at the best of times let alone this pregnant 😩 we live in a new build and just can’t keep the house cool no matter what we try. It’s been over 29° in the living room this weekend 😭

R184 · 11/09/2023 07:28

Help me out please ladies - I’m 40+2, FED UP and itching to hold my baby in my arms 😩😩

Houseelf90 · 11/09/2023 07:55

@R184 I feel for you!! Have you had any signs?
Have you got a sweep or induction booked?

R184 · 11/09/2023 08:10

No, I don’t usually get signs as such until I’m having contractions.
Nope I haven’t because I was hoping to avoid intervention, but may reconsider a sweep if needs must 😩

Goneaboutthiswrong · 11/09/2023 18:00

@R184 I feel your pain, I’m 40+3 and I’ve been crying at least 3 times a day coz I’m hot, bothered, huge and just want you baby out! I had a sweep at 40wks exactly and I’ve had my bloody show/mucus plug release yesterday. But only a few
tightenings, no contractions as such yet.
My daily routine has been walk, cry, bounce on ball, cry, shower, walk, bounce on ball. I’m sick of Groundhog Day at this point. I’ve got another sweep booked on 40+5 which includes reflexology and essential oils somehow. I’m hoping I go into labour naturally before then as I have a very high cervix and the midwife had a little difficulty (she then managed to feel the baby’s head and give me a good sweep in the end)

@Houseelf90 I can’t believe your white blood count is so high! You’re doing amazingly considering you’ve been fighting an infection, I hope you get it sorted as soon as the baby is here x

R184 · 11/09/2023 18:08

Fingers crossed for you@Goneaboutthiswrong!! I did have a sweep this morning, it was quite uncomfortable which supposedly is a good thing?! Midwife seemed pleased it was ‘successful’ and she got a good sweep round. I’m 2cm dilated apparently so hopefully something happens tonight!! If not I have another appt Thursday where il be 40+5 and will ask for another 😬

Houseelf90 · 11/09/2023 18:48

@R184 and @Goneaboutthiswrong I hope your babies are here soon!! I’m frustrated and I still have 2 weeks till due date!!

@Goneaboutthiswrong I had a call from a midwife at the hospital this afternoon to say she had reviewed all my results and she’s not happy with me just on antibiotics so she’s spoken to a doctor and requested a kidney scan. God knows when it’ll be though, she said she would see me Wednesday and sort it out then but I don’t know if that means I’ll have it Wednesday or that’s just when they will actually do the booking. I’ve got my midwife tomorrow so will have a sweep either tomorrow there or at the hospital Wednesday. If my cervix is open!! Think I’ve had my bloody show over the last 24 hours (unless the bleeding is due to infection!) so I’m hoping they can do it 🤞🏼
